--Race for the Grimoire--

As the night went on, more and more magical girls arrived at the decaying construction site-turned-battlefield, some were not visually noticed by Lumiere, especially those who immediately focused on searching after the new Grimoire. Among those who were observed, however, brought their own unique tools of the trade to stave off the Pageless still stubbornly gunning for the half-conscious civilians. One wielded the mythical Ruyi Jingu Bang, embodying the legend of Wu Kong, his strength and agility to be more specific as Tesni didn't exactly share the Monkey King's sharp wit, but in the right company, a blunt force trauma specialist was needed as long as there were others who could compensate where she lacked. Fortunately, Lumiere was used to leading others as an older veteran figure.

"That's indeed true, Miss Tesni, but it appears that more and more Pageless decide to shift their focus to the Grimoire instead." The white-clad angel informed the Monkey King even as her wings zipped, fired, and sliced all around her, "It's not so much as the future bearer that's in danger, but if the Pageless arrives at the Grimoire first before she can, then they'll surely rip it apart!" Indeed, the mission of protecting the Grimoire had two distinct aspects to it, the Grimoire itself and its would-be bearer. Although the best case scenario would be keeping both of them safe from harm, but if they could only pick one, the pragmatic choice would be the Grimoire as it could always pick another maiden as its previous one passed due to one reason or another.

The group's next arrival was one of those rare Alter Grimoire magical girls, although Ethereal Rose adhered to the common theme of altered grimoires having some kind of dark twist to the story, unlike Captain Goodhope that ironically embodied a more idealistic version of the originally dark tale. It was fortunate that Lumiere was already familiar with Rose and her... Pageless-esque companion, a proper shepherd must be familiar with her flock after all, including the unusual ones. She had seen her share of Alters over the century, most of them wanting nothing to do with the Grand Ministry so those who did became quite memorable. "Oui, of course, Miss Rose, a macabre dance awaits us, although I'm sure it's something you and Xolys will have no problem handling. Now then... en garde, Daemons of Shadow!

Lumiere spun once like an aerial ballerina as all eight wings gathered around her like the outstretched arms of an octopus before she began firing beams after beams to each and every Pageless she could get a clear shot at, purifying them into particles with holy light as Lilac the dashing chevalier zipped through the night, impaling Pageless left and right, while Burning Heart's halberd sliced and diced the shadowy horde by her side.

While the four magical girls fought directly with their weapons of choice, obelisk-wings, shapeshifting quarterstaff, rainbow rapier, and burning naginata respectively, there were others who preferred to let others do their dirty work for them. The blonde beauty needed not to sully her hands with disgusting black ichor as her otherworldly lover Xolys was more than capable of engaging the horde himself, a veritable orca to the piranhas as the Pageless got a taste of their own medicine... only tenfold, claws and tentacles much bigger than theirs tearing through their ranks. Meanwhile, Captain Goodhope confirmed the appropriateness of the first half of her moniker by summoning her crew, a trio of Dutch mariners from the Age of Exploration. The three men wasted no time in engaging the barbaric horde.

Regardless of how they fought, the combined might of the group were enough to completely purify the civilians' surrounding area from those who wished them harm. "Merveilleux, les filles," Lumiere quipped with a solemn smile as her wings returned to their standard formation behind her, "Now we can assist our brethren in finding the Grimoire and hunting any stragglers."

Then, just as she said that, the Pageless horde revealed their trump card or a last act of desperation, depending on one's perspective, as a gigantic mechanical-esque creature slammed down on the middle of the site, spewing dust and debris everywhere as the ground quaked from its sheer weight. The gargantuan Pageless then wasted no time in marching forward, smashing anything in its way, focused in its singular purpose of destroying the infantile Grimoire.

In response, Lumiere sent four of her wings between the monster and its destination before portalling there. "Not one more step, demon!" She then gathered all eight of them in front of her as she extended her right arm outward, her power and wings combined formed a huge circular golden barrier right in front of the clambering creature, blocking its path.

Of course, said creature saw Lumiere's barrier as no different than any other obstacle, it pulled its right forelimb back then struck forward, the jackhammer-like tip smashing against the seraph's semi-transparent shield, causing golden sparks to fly. "Nnngh...!!" Lumiere gritted her teeth, reeling from the force of the blow, she could also see cracks forming on her barrier. Just one strike and it could already do this much damage and she dedicated all of her wings for this too. "Comrades, destroy it! Now!" She shouted, imploring everyone who could hear her to start focusing on the Pageless leviathan.

She was so furious, so, so furious. How dare they take her project away from her? How dare they?! She had worked on it for seven hours straight, and she was oh so close to that sweet reward, but they took that away! This wasn't how things meant to go, you just don't offer someone a puzzle only to pull the rug from under them. This was wrong, the world wasn't supposed to work like this, Sukoro Jinga must answer for this travesty!

Her vision red, all Lucretia could think about right at this very moment was to unleash all of her rage and humiliation to the door. If she couldn't open it the smart way, then a little application of blunt trauma should do the trick. She was no pacifist or else she wouldn't have installed Schwarzritter with combat functions, and honestly, the floating metal golem should already be smashing the offending door open, if not for a sudden shout from her roommate. While Schwarzritter didn't recognize Valeriya's voice as a valid command, Lucretia did.

"...?!" Lucy's tired, bloodshot eyes widened upon the Russian's frantic shout and shuffles as she leaped out of the bed, the younger Polymath turned her neck slightly, feeling the jolts of pain from all her aching muscles, she gritted her teeth but then exhaled harshly, "Bleib stehen..." with her auditory instruction, the metal knight ceased winding up its punch, returning to a stand-by position.

Valeriya let loose a sigh of relief as the diminutive German saw reason and called her murder drone off the poor, unsuspecting door. Good thing she wouldn't have to figure out a way to explain to those in charge why they had a door blown out on the first night.

"Whew..." She exhaled, starting to calm down now that the danger had passed. "At least you stopped. I wasn't looking forward to having to figure out an excuse for why we lost a door. Is everything alright? What happened to set you off like that?"

"Haaah... nnngh..." As her outrage winded down, Lucretia felt the full brunt of her seven hour of constant concentration, lack of sleep, and adrenaline crash all at once. The white-haired girl fell to her knees first then onto her side, lying crumpled on the carpeted floor. Her gaze was empty as she lacked the energy to even be angry now, but it did have the side effect of allowing her to somewhat calmly answer Valeriya's curiosity, "I... was so close... just a little bit more... and I could've defeated the Starsteel cipher, but... but they took that away... they took that from me." She droned on, having no other desire right now other than just succumb into unconsciousness, right, might as well catch some sleep while she's at it.

"Schwarzritter, trage" Upon her command, the steel black-blue drone gently picked up its creator and cradled her in its right arm, then Lucy commanded it to carry her back to the bed, in which the German girl simply just flopped onto then buried herself amidst the pillows and duvet, quickly drifting off to a much-needed slumber, the drone loyally staying by her side.

Well. That was...something. At least Lucretia seemed no worse for wear, aside from exhaustion from staying up all night. Eh. That was the girl's decision, not hers. Valeriya would let her sleep. Considering the state of the party last night, no doubt more than few students would be sleeping off hangovers, regardless. She stepped over to Lucretia's side of the room to give the little German the kindness of at least tucking her in before going about her own morning routine, preparing to head out. Outside of actual research, she had some devices to make for the next night...
I'll be posting tomorrow, if not sooner.

Cool! I’ll post right after you then, looks about the right moment for Lumi.

--Steel Blue Balled--

Over the course of roughly seven hours, Lucretia was in state best described as 'flow', that moment when one's high skill was met with a worthy challenge, not too trivial as to elicit boredom, nor too difficult as to induce anguish, that sweet goldilocks spot. Although there were quite a number of theories attempting to explain this phenomenon, one thing was clear, a person in flow lost all sense of time as their mind, body, and soul were wholly focused on the task. It was easy for the Iron Princess of Germany to devote herself into a task, often to the detriment of her own health as showcased now, but it was another thing to make her take seven hours to solve a puzzle, no, nearly solve a puzzle. She had never felt this passionate about something ever since Schwarzritter's first successful activation.

She was so close now... just a bit more and she could finally claim superiority over Sukoro Jinga, and with more practice, she would shorten that time until it wouldn't take her even five minutes to unravel this so-called Gordian Knot of the Orient.

And then, everything was taken away as the labyrinthine formulaic constellations in front of her suddenly shifted to their mundane patterns, one that was no different than any other castle doors. Luciel blinked, and for those few precious seconds, the white-haired girl was in denial, believing that her own eyes were playing tricks on her due to sleep deprivation, muscle soreness, and cerebral exhaustion. It took her another few seconds to finally accept the harsh truth, that the Starsteel Formulization had vanished while she was on the cusp of unraveling it, seven hours of work, down the proverbial drain.

".........."

One would think that Lucretia, scion of House Konigsmahne, wondrous prodigy of the most technologically advanced nation in the world, and genius of geniuses, would be above a petty notion such as an emotional outburst...

...one would be wrong.

"SCHEISSE!!" Her voice violently echoed against the stone walls of the spacious bedroom, a wail that was so uncharacteristically loud from the quiet girl and combined with the deep, furious scowl on her dainty face, she looked toward the door as if it had tortured and killed her family in front of her eyes. Lucretia's muscles trembled as her mind moved to the second stage of grief. Her limbs should be aching like hell after seven hours of constant work, but adrenaline was a truly powerful hormone. As far as her body was concerned, she was in mortal danger and had to fight for her life.

Lucy's teeth gritted as bloodshot green eyes with constricted pupils rapidly shifted from left to right, then in an act of illogical frustration, she roared once more, "SCHWARZRITTER! AKTIVIERE!!"

The whirrs and hums of an unraveling drone came from the study as the Black Knight of Steel reformed then made a beeline toward its mistress, smashing open a poor study door on the way. Mistress was in danger, it must protect her! It was ready, who or what must be destroyed?!

With an accusing index finger, the young mistress pointed toward the bedroom's door, "Vernichte..."

Orders received, the drone made do with its disarmed assault cannons by simply pulling its right arm back...

@Psyker Landshark
I’ll make mine after a couple more peeps have posted, just to be safe.
Ooooooh... so this is a reboot of this? roleplayerguild.com/topics/170471-roy…

Huh, what do you know, that looked epic.

My priority character idea is toying with The Great Evil's inky black sludge's stuff, maybe someone who had a more normal power then got unknowingly corrupted after an encounter with it. Let's see if that works, but hey, you miss all the shots that you don't take.

EDIT: Nevermind, I decided to withdraw my interest.
Oh hey~ this looks epic! I’m putting my interest here.
