@King Cosmos it takes place a couple years before the CANNON and certain tests will be the same like the second floor but first floor test for your character to get in the tower is up to you and then I'll be thinking up different ones for every other floor
Special position definition - A Special Position is a very rare Position. Note: Every basic Position requires manipulation of Shinsoo and as such, it is the same for Positions like "Dansul" or "Wonsul". As in: not just Wave Controllers get to learn them.
Special positions:
The Guide (길잡이, Giljahbi; "one who chooses and leads the way") is a special Position that leads the way for the team.
About Within the Tower there are two known prominent species with the potential ability to guide. Such species are categorised as the Silver Dwarves and the Red Witches.[1] Silver Dwarves are known for their distinctive silver hair and short stature whilst the Red Witches are known for their bright red hair.[2]
When Koon Aguero Agnis asked her how she was present on the 29th Floor despite having failed the Floor of Test, Hwa Ryun replied that "I can go anywhere. I'm a Guide, after all",[3] implying that Guides can reach Floors without passing the tests normally necessary to do so. This is further confirmed by SIU stating that Hwa Ryun had technically failed on the Second Floor.[4]
SIU described Guides as a human GPS that can tell the best move or make predictions, but how that comes to be is not known until he further explains it. So even if they predicted that someone would die in a month they cannot give any specific way to avoid it, but they can try their best. Of course, a prediction a day or an hour ahead can be more detailed, someone can't avoid it once you end up on the wrong path.[5]
Both Silver Dwarf and Red Witch Guides must travel through the 43rd Floor as a pilgrimage.[6] For Red Witches, their place of pilgrimage is Gallstone Village, to which they rely on the memories that have been passed down from their ancestry to find it. Silver Dwarves also have a place on the 43rd Floor they go on a pilgrimage to, although it was stated by Evan to be in a state of ruin.[6]
Abilities A Guide usually works as a team with a Light Bearer. While the Light Bearer shines light upon the dark surroundings, the Guide may lead its team through the most advantageous route. Generally, the Guide locates the path and conveys the information to the Light Bearer, who then transmit the information to the entire team. However, if the Guide is travelling on a safer path and doesn't need a Light Bearer, then they probably use a Pocket to illuminate the surroundings.[7] Guides, however, have quite low battle capabilities.[8]
Guides have excellent analysis skills, and an A-Rank Guide can determine the power of an individual just by looking at them. However, Evan Edrok failed to assess Baam's inherent qualities and thought of him as average. Guides seen so far in the series have displayed an uncommon intuition as to what was going on, most likely due to their ability to read and understand 'paths'.
However, the most notorious trait of a Guide is the ability of "seeing" the paths of the Tower and instructing someone on the path they can take. However a Guide can only teach the path to those who are capable of walking it.[9] During the events of Headon's test Evan Edrok didn't help Baam during the Guardian's Test on the 1st Floor because an ordinary person would die if they had tried the solution.[9]
As stated above, Yu Han Sung describes Guides as being able to foresee the future and even change it.[10] Guides are able to find "hidden" things in the Tower and to read one's fate (though not those of Rachel, if not all Irregulars[11]). Moreover, solving complex puzzles and avoiding traps come preternaturally to them.[4] Guides are also capable of seeing their own destiny so they neither fear nor try to avoid their own death, that's how each Guide accepts their individual fate.[6]
The speciality of Silver Dwarves tends to be seeing the crossroads right in front of them whereas the speciality of Red Witches tends to be seeing fate.[12]
The Living Ignition Weapon Emile can prevent Guides from using their full abilities.[13] Likewise, according to Evan Edrok, their abilities are inhibited on the Floor of Death.[14]
Anima (부리미, Boorimi; or "Charmer") is a special Position and refers to someone who subjugates (부림, boorim; "to make someone into a servant") and controls Shinheuh and other creatures to do their bidding.[1][2] An Anima is quite rare, even among Rankers.
About Unlike many other special positions, it's not a skill that anyone can learn, but instead requires a natural talent.[1][2] The skill to subjugate a creature existed before the 10 Families entered the Tower although, at some point, the Lo Po Bia Family acquired the skill.[3] Not everyone from the Lo Po Bia Family is an Anima, but they all have the potential and a few Lo Po Bia elites have abilities that are on a whole new level from standard Anima.[3]
By subjugating creatures, one can get information or use the creature and its abilities directly in battle.
Bowl: Shinheuh can be compressed and stored in bowls (그릇, geureut).[1][2] Later, in NAVER official chapter release, SIU use the term fishbowl (어항 , eohang).[4]
In order to control a creature, the Anima must use a bowl. Bowls are spaces that an Anima uses to control a subjugated creature. This is accomplished through a special kind of Shinsoo.[4] The container that an Anima employs as a bowl may vary from a simple jar to an entire chamber. An Anima can fill the bowl and store their subjugated creatures inside. According to SIU, bowls are usually best when they are portable and the Shinsoo must be changed regularly to maintain control over the user's creature.[3] So far, Metalfish and Fenryl are the only known creatures that do not require a bowl in order to control them.[5]
Examples Lo Po Bia Alphine uses her "work office room" in the Kaiser's Auction House as the bowl to control her Shadow Fox Shinheuh. Lo Po Bia Ren uses his "sheep fur costume" as the bowl.
Weaknesses Since the user manipulates subjugated creatures to do their bidding, the Anima's greatest weakness is none other than the user.[4] By taking care of the Anima, one also may defeat the subjugated creature in the process. Also, since an Anima always needs a bowl in order to control a creature, one may be able to destroy the bowl or alter the Shinsoo in the bowl to break the control over the subjugated creature.[4]
Wonsulsa (원술사, Wonsulsa or "Circle Ability User") is a Special Position referring to a controlling ability called "Wonsul" which circulates Shinsoo into a perfect circle, causing it to gain much greater strength while retaining the same myun and soo.[1][2],
Wonsul users can use Shinsoo as a booby-trap and, like Love, they can also throw Shinsoo like a ball or attack the opponent with a spinning-reinforced body.[2]
In order to become a Wonsulsa, one is chosen to take certain Tests at Gustang's Research Association to become certified.[2] Because of this, there are few Wonsulsa as only those who have passed have learned this technique. Requirements to be chosen to take the test are currently unknown and it is also unknown if Regulars are allowed to take this test.(for our terms regulars can take the test )
Known techniques: Beam Cannon Beam Cannon is a technique that fires off a white beam to attack. The user focuses Shinsoo into a spherical shape in the palms of their hands and then releases it in a white beam. A circle of the same colour is created around the ray after being thrown.
Blue oar:Blue Oar (청노) is a wonsul technique that create or form a circular disc made of Shinsoo below the user's foot and use it to flying and surf the sky.
Dansulsa (단술사, 斷術師, Dahnsoolsa) is a Special Position and basically, the name refers to the user of a technique called "Dansul", a powerful Wave Controller technique.
Description First, the user applies a great Shinsoo pressure on the target so they can't move and then, with any sort of weapon, even greater pressure is applied to crush the enemy. It is implied that the force can be teleported, as a user was seen bringing a hammer down on a Lighthouse to smash an opponent far away.[1]
Defender (디펜더, dipendeo) is a rare position whose aim is to protect the Light Bearer and/or Spear Bearer during battle. Defenders and Spear bearers make a good team, with the great defender Hendo Lok Bloodmadder and the great spear bearer Khun Eduan being known as a combination that is incredibly difficult to stop.[1]
Hwayeomsa or Flame User (화염사 (火炎師), hwayeomsa) refers to a person who is able to convert shinsoo into fire and then use it for various purposes. However, it has been said that converting shinsoo into fire is very difficult to do. That being said, not much else is known about Flame Users yet.
Jeonsulsa or Lightning User (전술사 (電術師), jeonsulsa) refers to a person who is able to give shinsoo electrical properties and/or convert shinsoo into electricity. Some users, such as those from certain Special Families, are able to wield electricity naturally while others must take and pass a special test to become a Jeonsul.

Positions are the roles one would take on in battle should they be in a team.
The Definition of the Position The battles in the Tower are mostly fought as teams and the Position (포지션, pojisheon) is the role an individual plays in a team. Of course it's possible to battle without deciding the Positions, but it's more efficient to divide Positions. The names or the roles are named mostly from the battles of the first 10 Great Families. Thus, the Positions are mainly based on the men vs Shinheuh - livings battles, rather than the men vs men battles. That doesn't mean current Positions are worthless in men vs men battles.
Now that the importance of the men vs men battles are getting bigger than before in the Tower, current Positions are evolving accordingly. All Positions have to make a contract with a Guardian so they are able to use Shinsoo for purposes like Shinsoo strengthening.
Note that one person is not limited to one position. Prince is a Light Bearer, yet possesses Fisherman equipment, and Koon Ran is a Fisherman, but can take the Spear Bearer position with his Lightning Spear techniques. Scouts like Hatsu would also be good at the Fisherman position and Scouts like Leesoo would be good at commanding and strategising, hence his suitability for the Light Bearer position. Apple is capable of being both a Scout and Light Bearer. The top rankers, or at least Urek Mazino and Zahard, are masterfully capable of taking up all position.
Positions your character may be(for now choose one)
Fisherman (낚시꾼, nakksikkun or "Angler") is said to be the epitome of all Positions.[1] The Position is suited for close to medium-range combatants and the main offence of the team. Fishermen tend to use Reel and Needles. Swords and other flat bladed weaponry are scarce in the Tower the higher the Floor one goes. This is because of their impeding level of drag, a detriment to weapons with larger surface area, in high density shinsoo environments that are common on the higher Floors of the Tower.
About: A Fisherman generally possess the most destructive power in man-to-man fights. They usually carry light arms, with no heavy weapons. Fishermen are divided into two classes: Reel Fishermen, who use Reel Inventories to attack their enemy at medium range, or Man-to-man Fishermen, who go directly on the offensive at close range. The Fishermen constitute the main offensive force of a team and are usually at the centre of a battle.
Spear Bearer (창지기, 搶지기, changjigi) is the Position that snipes the opponent and backs up the Fishermen using Spears. Spear Bearers comprise the long range offence of the team.
About: Spear Bearers do not tend to be very powerful in a melee, but are very valuable due to their pinpoint attacking from a distance. Some carry Needles when in the front, bearing the possibility of a melee in mind, but most don't. They carry inventories, specially created for holding spears, called Pipes which are quite heavy. They are basically divided into two types, the Short-distance type, who use their spears to hit enemy weak points in the midst of a battle, and the Long-distance type, who snipe from far away. The role of a Spear Bearer is to provide backup for the Fishermen by keeping up a constant attack on the enemy's weak points.
With support of Lighthouse, an accomplished Spear Bearer is able to throw a spear tens of kilometres away. The Lighthouse has a feature which can adjust and guide the trajectory of the spear.
The Scout (탐색꾼, 探索꾼, tamsaegkkun) is the Position for literally scouting. They move ahead of the group, observe the environment and situation. They also aid the Fishermen as secondary offence.
About: Scouts are usually lightly armed for the intention to be agile and swift in movement and thinking. They usually play the role of helping the Fishermen regain a foothold or keeping watch of the enemy's movements. However, in terms of frequency and risk of combat, a Scout is a step above the Fisherman as they are often the first to encounter the enemy (e.g. Ship Leesoo encountering the Bull). Scout is a position which regards mental strength as very important, so someone who possesses weak mental strength can't be a Scout.[1]
They read the change of Shinsoo and collect visible data about the environment and enemies, using Observers, which then transfer gathered information back to the Light Bearers. They are basically divided into two types: The Basic Scouts generally work on gathering information for the Light Bearers and keep watch whilst the Battle Valuing Scouts focus on backing up the Fishermen in close-range combat.

Techniques used by Scouts Black Fish: A much used Shinsoo technique that blocks out light, thereby making the scout "invisible". This is both used to hinder the attack of Fishermen and Spear Bearers and is just as important to help the Scout's Observers. Hologram: Using an Observer, the Scout can create a hologram of themselves to trap the enemy. The hologram can move like the real thing, but it disappears when it is attacked.
Light Bearer (등대지기, 燈臺지기, deungdaejigi; "one who protects the Lighthouse" or "Lighthouse Keeper") is a Position which uses exploring devices called Lighthouses to gain information on the battle or the surroundings.
Also, a Light Bearer tends to gather information and formulate plans with the help of such information as they command their Lighthouse. They are also called Lighthouse keepers because they protect the Lighthouse. However, a Light Bearer must still be able to fulfil both roles as there may be times when they are expected to assume another role.I
About: Lighthouses are glowing devices made of Suspendium and are used for gathering information to aid the Light Bearer's teammates in battle. The more Suspendium the Lighthouse possess, the better the Lighthouse shall be.[1] Some Lighthouses have an Observer function but as their mobility decreases, they become harder to handle. Light Bearers tends to pair up with Guides and they provide information and the Guides lead the way.[2] The battles in The Tower are fought mostly in dark places, so it is very hard to battle without Light Bearers. A Light Bearer may take a frontal or rear position.
When assuming a frontal position, the Light Bearer participates in combat themselves and gathers information on enemy weaknesses, using Lights. Such Light Bearers must have exceptional Shinsoo control and be able to maintain control of their Lighthouses.[3] They must be able to extend the reach of their Light cubes for a good distance, so their Lights can gather information about the environment and the battles which are transmitted to the Lighthouse. As there may be more than 2 to 3 battles at once, their Lights must be extended far enough to be able to attack a large area or cover them so the Light Bearer can analyse the situation.[4]
When taking the rear position, the Light Bearer observes battles from a distance and collects data to use in future strategies. They basically control a Lighthouse which serves as a battle command centre. Using information collected by smaller Lighthouses they form strategies to direct and control the tide of a battle. They also issue instructions to their team members and, based on their feedback, decide on the next actions to take.[5] Because of this, a Light Bearer must be very knowledgeable, sharp, resourceful, good at analysing information and be able to come up with alternative strategies if their team is in a tight spot or if a previous plan has failed. Combat ability of these types of Light Bearers can't be lacking as they must be able to defend their Lighthouse if the enemy decides to attack it.

Techniques used by Light Bearers Flow Control: A technique that restricts the opponent's movements by manipulating the Shinsoo within the manipulation field of the Lighthouse. It can be used with 2 to 3 Lighthouses.[citation needed] Triple Field: the ability to restrict an enemy's movement with 3 Lighthouses (although, it's just something Prince made up).[3] Quadruple Blockage: Using 4 Lighthouses Khun can block the movements of his opponent.[6] Centripetal Force Control: A technique that prevents enemies inside the field from escaping by using the middle Lighthouse as the centre. It requires 4 Lighthouses and can easily paralyse several people simultaneously. First used by Goseng[4] Lighthouse Shinsoo Manipulation Skill Weapon Boost - Emerald Sword: A technique used to boost the power of one's weapon.[7] Enna Core Mystery Sphere: By using a Lighthouse that uses an Enna Core, the user can create a huge blue honeycomb sphere to trap an opponent. It can change to its "Red Crystal" mode on command.[8] Shield / Barrier: A technique that forms a shield between Lighthouses. Teleportation: A technique that allows the teleportation of people and objects to another within the manipulation field of the Lighthouse to another Lighthouse. It was said by SIU that Lighthouse Teleportation is dangerous to use in the middle of the battle and may not work if done hastily. Skilled Light Bearer can kill using Teleportation.[9] BOX (박스, bagseu) an information-sharing community or "Blog" used by the Light Bearers, which can be used for sharing pictures among other things. It was first seen being used by both Apple and Yeo Goseng, when they used BOX to search and collect information about Beniamino Cassano through the Lighthouse.[1]
Wave Controller (파도잡이, 波濤잡이, padojab-i) is a Position where one helps their allies in battles by attacking the enemy or by aiding the team using Shinsoo. Out of all the five ordinary Positions, Wave Controller is the rarest to be chosen for.
About: Even for a rare Position, the Wave Controller Position comes with extreme individual variations. There are Wave Controllers who recklessly attack the enemy and there are those change the tide of the battle by subtly altering the flow of the Shinsoo.
Since the ability to use raw Shinsoo at a level of efficiency that makes it more powerful than combining it with weaponry is quite rare, there are only handful of Wave Controllers as the traditional meaning, even among the Rankers. Most Wave Controllers lean to the powers of Shinsoo-manipulating items, but there are those who manipulate Shinsoo without any item whatsoever.
There are basically two types of Wave Controllers: Attacking-type and Support-type, but this kind of categorising is not used much. Wave Controllers are described as the directors of battles. Most of them have direct battle abilities and serve other Positions as well.[1]
Note: Apparently, Wave Controller doesn't necessarily refer to a person who manipulates Shinsoo but the conventional meaning of this term basically is used also in the Outer Tower. In this sense, it probably refers to a non-human like a Shinheuh species or even possibly an artificial organism or anything technological that can manipulate Shinsoo without an item.[1]
Basic Arming (Ranker) A Wand: A Wand (완드, wandeu; "Wand") is an item with the ability to create and collect an amount of Shinsoo. The ability to control Shinsoo is very rare, and most Regulars and Rankers use special items when they wish to manipulate larger amounts of Shinsoo. These items are called Wands.

Welcome to the Tower , will you take the risk and begin climbing? The journey is perilous and you may lose your life but it is worth it if you reach the top. Where you could have glory, riches , immortality or whatever you desire the tower will have it. Of course there will be people who will try to stop you and maybe you'll make friends with others trying to climb the tower but is your drive above all of that? Does your drive to reach the top overpower anything else? If so then you have what it takes to reach the top and you are ready for your first test....welcome Regular to the tower.
Alrighty so the plot is very simple your character is trying to climb up the Tower to achieve their goal whatever that may be. Now the details outlying that is your character just got chosen by the Tower or your character opened the door themselves who knows . But the thing they all have in common is that they are brand new to the tower this role play also takes place a couple years before the events of the Webtoon so you don't have to worry about making nods or dealing with the events in the Webtoon. Here for anyone who might be joining that isn't familiar with the Webtoon is information about the Tower.
The Tower is the world and setting of Tower of God. There are currently 135 confirmed Floors, though the Zahard Empire has only expanded up to the 134th Floor, as Zahard has yet to conquer the 135th Floor. The Outer Tower of each Floor is the size of the Americas, making the Tower at least 11 times the size of Earth. The Tower is divided into three parts: the Inner Tower, the Outer Tower, and the Middle Area. Of the world outside the Tower, next to nothing is known.
Rules of the structure of the Tower: There are Guardians for each Floor (except the 43rd Floor) and they have control over the Shinsoo on their Floor. Note: everyone in the Tower requires Shinsoo to breathe (including all Irregulars) as Shinsoo replaces oxygen and water (substances which constitute the atmosphere outside the Tower). Without a Guardian, a Ruler can't rule. There are Rulers for each Floor (excluding the First Floor and the 43rd Floor) and they rule over their Floors under the permission of the Guardians. The Rulers are all High Rankers.[1] Other than the Ruler, it is likely the rest of the Staff (Test Directors, instructors, etc.) are found in the Inner Tower as they have to carry out or watch over the tests or perform other tasks on the Floor. In the Tower, you need a contract with the Guardian to manipulate a certain amount of Shinsoo without a special item.[2][3] The Tower is populated by creatures known as Shinheuh.
Effects of manipulating Shinsoo and possible clauses of Zahard's contract regarding Rankers; how individuals are judged by others and society in the Tower and terms of honorifics in the Tower
Residents of Tower have a large lifespan. In addition to that, if they learn how to manipulate Shinsoo their lifespan will immediately increase to the point it looks like their aging process has frozen. Sometimes when people start to handle Shinsoo their growth stops before they become adults, then it's standard to treat them like kids regardless of the age. The general theory in the Tower is that the growth of the body is proportional to the growth of mind. There are exceptions by the region of origin or families.[4] However, there are also cases like a person contracting diseases or develops an allergic reaction to Shinsoo as they get older, and the cells start to function improperly due to it, which is quite similar to cancer. If someone dies of old age in the Tower, this is usually the case. There are confirmed cases of Rankers obtaining immortality. For example Zahard and the 10 Great Family Heads were rewarded with immortality by the Guardian of 100th Floor for passing its test. Age is only a number in the Tower so it isn't worth thinking about. People consider body age or species characteristics age something not important. And the superior-subordinate relationship according to age does not exist, as rank or status are considered over age.[4] For example Yuri, Koon and Androssi do not use honorifics for almost everyone because they are from the 10 Families, however Anak does use honorifics.
Sections of the Tower:
Inner tower Inner Tower is where the selected Regulars climb the Tower. The Ruler of each Floor decides on a series of tests, the specifics of which are decided by the Test Director and then held by Test Admins and other staff.
Regulars must pass all of the tests on a Floor and then they go up to the next Floor. The only exception is the 43rd Floor where there is no Guardian because Enryu killed it. So, everyone has to take the road in the Middle Area to reach the next Floor.[1]
Regulars must take the exams to reach the next Floor until the 20th Floor and they can go in and out of the Middle Area after the 20th Floor.[1] If they wish to, they can settle in the Middle Area.
As a Regular, they are entitled to certain rights. Regulars, who fail on the 2nd Floor or give up climbing the Tower before they've reached the 20th Floor, are stripped of their rights and are sent to the Middle Area. This is likely so they can return home as it can be used to travel between the Inner and Outer Tower. However if they give up climbing the Tower after 20th Floor, they will have better status than normal residents in the Middle and Outer Tower. By reaching the 134th Floor a Regular becomes a Ranker.
Note: The Ruler has the right to decide the test(s) of their Floor. But if the Guardian raises objections, they must follow the Guardian's wish.
Outer Tower The Outer Tower is the residential district of the Tower inhabitants and each Floor of the Outer Tower is as large as the continent of North America on Earth;[1] Lero-Ro apparently called it the Residential Tower.[5] The cultures of each Floor are all different and the environments, ecosystems and climates all vary.[6] These conditions have been decided by the tendencies of the Guardians and the Rulers of each Floor.[1] Apparently, most people are born in the Outer Tower and live on the same Floor for their entire lives.
Despite Zahard conquering most of the known Floors of the Tower, there exist cultures on many Floors of the Outer Tower unaware of the existence of the Inner Tower, or even Zahard and his empire. As such, these cultures have subsequently formed their own nations with monarchs.[6]
On the Floors conquered by Zahard, residential cards are issued to its dwellers.[7] Once a person shows the potential of climbing the Tower, they are chosen by Headon to become a Regular, earning the right of climbing the Inner Tower.
The lifespan of the inhabitants of the Outer Tower varies:
Normal residents: ~200 years. Failed Regulars: ~500-600 years. Living at the current top Floor: ~1000 years. However, all of them shall die eventually.[8][9]
Middle area: The Middle Area is an area between the Inner and Outer sections. It can be used to travel between the Inner and Outer Tower. It is smaller than the Outer Tower and varies by the Floor.[1] There is some interchange with the Outer Tower, although the standard of living is much better.[1] The culture of the Middle Area of each Floor are all similar because the Rankers and the Regulars come and go a lot.[1] However, there are noticeable characteristics in each one.
Both Regulars and Rankers can live in the Middle Area, however, Regulars only earn the right of living there by themselves or with their family members once they reach 20th Floor;.[1] Those who have permission to operate businesses in the Middle Area are also allowed to stay in or enter the Middle Area. Sometimes, there are thieves who target the businesses and Serena Rinnen previously belonged to a group of thieves who targeted merchants transporting goods from the Outer Tower.[10] Childbirth, in general, is forbidden within the Middle Area, so many illegitimate children are born and abandoned there; some Rankers affiliated with Special Families are given permission.[11]
The stairways in the Middle Area are used by Rankers to skip Floors of the Inner Tower as it's very likely only Guardians can teleport others. This is evident from the fact Evan Edrok, a Guide, accompanied Yuri Zahard to assist her in navigating the maze-like paths of the Middle Area. Yet if he could teleport, both of them would've simply appeared on the First Floor, during Chapter 1, instead of climbing down the stairs. It's also likely one can only navigate the stairways of the Middle Area with the assistance of a Guide as there are likely dead ends and parts of the Tower are very dark.
The Workshop can be found in the Middle Area of each Floor (2nd Floor onwards).
The Top "They believe that everything can be found at the top of the Tower. Nobody has reached the top yet." The current accessible top of the Tower is the 134th Floor.[1]
There is at least one more confirmed Floor above that - 135th Floor. The Guardian of the 135th Floor is said to be extremely hostile and nobody has been able to defeat it or pass its test yet, which is why the current "top" of the Tower is the 134th Floor.
It is rumoured that when the current Lord of the Tower will go to sleep and next one will start ruling, then the next Floor will finally be conquered. It's because Molic One P. GR is a conservative ruler and it's not his priority to conquer another Floor. It is strongly believed that the day Zahard is on the move again, is when the Zahard Empire will expand by another Floor.
It is said that the one who reaches the top will be able to see the stars, due to the fact that all of the skies in the Tower are artificial constructs made of Shinsoo.
Outside of The Tower Main article: Outside Little is known of the world outside the Tower; to most inhabitants of the Tower, it is known only dimly, as the place from which Irregulars originate. According to Irregulars interviewed by Ashul Edwaru, Shinsoo doesn't exist there and instead, people breath through air (oxygen, water, and other substances). It's unknown how Tower outsiders develop Shinsoo Resistance when there is supposedly no Shinsoo for them to resist.
According to Of the Tower's Weapons, all the weapons used in the Tower are modelled after weapons from outside the Tower. These weapons were brought by Zahard and the Great Warriors when they entered the Tower. Since Zahard and the Great Warriors brought in some weapons modified for use in vacuum. Though Zahard and the Great Warriors may not have used these weapons, this may be possible: there are battles fought in such places.
According to Masceth, Gong Bang also exists outside of the Tower.

Shinheuh (신해어 (神海魚) sinhaeeo, literally "divine sea fish" or "divine sea aquatic animal") refers to the various creatures encountered in the Tower.
About: While the literal translation does mean "aquatic animal", because Shinsoo itself means "divine water", the term actually refers to any animal that lives and depends on Shinsoo. Examples of Shinheuh include species like Mangdol Whales, White Steel Eels and Striped Ground Pigs.
The original Positions were created by Zahard and the Great Warriors in their initial climb through the Tower in order to fight the Shinheuh. This implies that, originally, nearly all of the challenges needed to climb the Tower involved fighting Shinheuh, rather than other people.
Gifted individuals can control shinheuh to do their bidding. The term Anima is a special Position and refers to someone who subjugates (부림, boorim; "to make someone into a servant") and controls Shinheuh and other creatures to do their bidding.[1][2] An Anima is quite rare, even among Rankers.[3] In addition, it is said that the Head of the Lo Po Bia Family is considered the best Anima in the Tower, and is capable of controlling all Shinheuh and animals of the Tower, and even humans.

A Chosen Regular (선별인원, 選別人員, seonbyeolinwon; "selected member"), more commonly known as simply a Regular, is an individual chosen by Headon and permitted by the Zahard Empire to climb the Tower.
About: In the current political system, Headon, Guardian of the 1st Floor, visits several parts of the Tower to select those who have potential to climb the Tower [1].
Headon travels throughout the Floors of the Tower and selects people that catch his eye; these selected people are then classed as Regulars. Regulars begin at Evankhell's Floor and climb the Tower from there. Once they have passed the 20th Floor, they receive benefits and may live in the Middle Area, between the Inner and Outer Tower areas. Since regulars climb the tower without their family they never get to see their family again, unless they are a member of the Ten Families.[2]
Regulars begin at the Second Floor and proceed to climb the Tower from there. [3]
Climbing the Tower: Regulars must take a series of Tests every time they climb a Floor. And due to the difficulty and nature of the complex testing system on the 2nd Floor, many potential candidates fail on this floor, and thus stripped of their rights. And the failed Regulars are likely teleported to a Floor or their Floor of origin in the Outer Tower.
When one becomes a chosen Regular and enters the Inner Tower, there is no rule that one must keep their outside name. In fact, most Regulars use aliases when registering on either the 2nd Floor or on each Floor[4].
They are also protected under the Tower's Rules upon entering the Inner Tower and in turn, are expected to abide by a set of the Tower's Rules in exchange for this set of rights.
From the 2nd Floor to the 19th Floor, they get to sleep in dormitories as they aren't allowed to reside in the Middle Area. From the 20th Floor and on, it's a bit different. Even if they fail, they have the right to retake the tests.
On the 20th Floor, regulars are also sorted out. Since taking a test requires a lot of points (money) and due to the increase in difficulty, they say there are a lot of Regulars who give up on the 20th Floor. Due to the high difficulty in the tests if this Floor and small number of Regulars who pass, the 20th Floor is also known as "The needle hole to heaven" and Regulars who pass get recognition and obtain E-rank Regular status. From the 20th Floor onwards, the right to reside in the Middle Area is granted, so while they dwell in the Middle Area by themselves many also take the test after entering the Inner Tower.
If a Regular reaches the 134th Floor of the Inner Tower, they become a Ranker.
Rankings:Once they've passed the 20th Floor, Regulars become E-ranked. Also, once they've passed the 30th Floor, Regulars become D-ranked. After that, one they've passed the 50th Floor, Regulars become C-ranked. However, it is unknown which Floors determine what rank a Regular possesses after this. A Regular's rank is decided by the height of their climb and is not to be confused with skill-based rankings (such as those given in stat cards) e.g. a B-rank Regular does not mean that the person has the power of B-rank, only that they have climbed so far.
All Regulars have issued a rank. Note: It is currently unknown how this system works.

Ranker are those individuals who reached the 134 Floor and have been given a rank. This Rank is issued by the Ranking Administration Office and it is calculated after investigating and combining statistics such as a person's power, recognition and influence. There are some who hold high rankings due to the influence and attributes they hold (e.g. Baek Ryun) and there are others who have weak combat strength but hold high Rankings due to some other reasons (e.g. Evan Edrok)".
According to SIU, the Ranker position in the Tower is a very lavish status (one can assume they have no problem with living expenses). However, just because they became a Ranker doesn't mean their rivalries have ended. Rather, they enter into more fearsome rivalries, so they seek better positions and better jobs. [2]
Because of this, Rankers are sometimes Test Directors or Test Administrators of Floors. They are viewed as gods and have a much higher status than Regulars and normal residents of the Tower. They may also use the Middle Area's staircases to either skip certain Floors or to travel between the Inner and Outer Towers. Though they are permitted many benefits, they are usually restricted from entering the Regulars' Districts or from associating with them.[3]
Rankers of Karaka's level have eyes rivaling Observers; this results from training for a very long time, both physically and mentally.[
Advanced ranker: If a Ranker's ranking is in the top 10% of total Rankers, they are considered an Advanced Ranker (상위 랭커, sang-wi laengkeo). There are about ten thousand Advanced Rankers (including the top 1%) in total.[5]
High ranker: If a Ranker's ranking is in the top 1% of total Rankers, he/she is considered a High Ranker (하이 랭커, hai raengkeo). There are about 1000 High Rankers in total. High Rankers are often described as gods among gods. Only those of a level equal to a High Ranker can become a Ruler.[6]
High Rankers earn the right to go up to the 135th Floor but the Guardian of this Floor is very hostile.[7] Therefore not a single High Ranker has been known to have ascended to the 135th Floor.[7]
They seldom fight for their lives: a fight like the one between Yuri and Karaka at the end of the 'Name Hunt' Station arc is a rare event.[4]I
Blue hole: There is a term called Blue Hole (블루홀, beulluhol) and it is used for High Rankers who have been inactive for so long since ancient times that no one knows if they are dead or alive, or Rankers whose true influence or power are difficult to measure.
Sobriquet: Sobriquet (이명, 異名, I-myeong; "nickname" or "pseudonym") is a type of nickname issued by the Ranking Administration Office, usually in reference to the High Ranker's battle Position or other aspects. Only High Rankers are able to receive a sobriquet.
A sobriquet can also be turned down, as Baek Ryun and Koon Eduan refused their sobriquets. Also, a person might be presented with more than one sobriquet as with Koon Eduan.
Fishermen are usually given the names of Shinheuh.[6] Guides are usually given the names of Boats. Wave Controllers are usually given the names of winds and waves.
A few examples of Sobriquets being named after something, other than a battle Position: Enryu's sobriquet is called "Red Tower" because whenever he passes by, the Shinsoo around him turns red for some unknown reason. Zahard is the first King in the Tower's history and, as such, his sobriquet is "King of the Tower".
An Unchosen Irregular (비선별인원, 非選別人員, biseonbyeolinwon; "members who have not been chosen" or "Irregulars"), more commonly known as simply an Irregular, is someone who was not selected from within the Middle and Outer Towers to climb the Tower through Headon's normal selection of Regulars, but who entered the First Floor from the outside.[2][3
Nature of irregulars: their own, by whatever means and for whatever reason. This grants Irregulars certain benefits, such as the ability to use Shinsoo without Guardian approval. Conversely, all other people in the tower did not 'enter' the tower themselves and are so restricted; the must be allowed to use Shinsoo and are bound by the laws the Guardians set down, such as a complete inability to kill King Zahard or a Guardian. In the current political system, Headon visits the Outer Tower and the Middle Area to select Regulars.[4] In this system, Irregulars are called "unchosen Irregulars" and Regulars are called "chosen Regulars" or "selected chosen".[5][6] It is assumed Headon's choice reflects the Tower's choice and in turn, the Tower's Rules.
Politically, Irregulars are viewed as beings who have entered the Tower, without being chosen by Headon.[5] Alumik Edrok mentioned that the Tower "opens its gates" to Irregulars, depending on what it needs.[1] According to Yuri Zahard, they're "probably not too welcome"[5] and she assumes Headon doesn't like Irregulars. According to Ship Leesoo, Irregulars have "opened the door themselves of their own will" and their act goes "against the Tower's Laws."[3] The god of guardians calls them "Those who opened the gate themselves"[7] and confirmed they have the power and authority to control shinsoo without the need of the Guardian's approval.[8]
"Irregulars have brought great change" and "chaos into the Tower"[5][3] and "all the people in the centre of the Tower" [3] tremble at them.
Only Irregulars can receive challenges directly from the Guardians.[3] The most important thing about an Irregular, they are "free of all the contracts of the Tower"; most importantly, this means that they are capable of killing Zahard, who has a contract with the Guardians that guarantees that the inhabitants of the Tower can never kill him.[9]
Most known Irregulars have shown exceptional power from the moment they entered the Tower, but it is unknown whether this is a universal property of Irregulars, whether it's something they naturally have as a result of their origin or whether such power is usually just a prerequisite for forcing your way into the Tower in the first place.
Characteristics: Characteristics The known Irregulars who entered the Tower during Zahard's rule have displayed enormous strengths which eventually became a symbol of fear.[5]
They have a strong relationship with shinsoo and have the authority to manipulate it on every Floor from the moment they enter the Tower.[8] Lero-Ro described Baam's display in the Crown Game as "it seemed as if the shinsoo attacked on his own volition."[10] Irregulars are also assumed to naturally possess incredible shinsoo resistance as evidenced by Baam casually walking in a White Steel Eel nest and not being affected by Lero-Ro's test and Urek's claim that the Opera could only stop him for a fraction of a second. Finally the most incredible feats with shinsoo have been realised by Irregulars: Eurasia proved that just by "accelerating" the shinsu in one area, she could instantly kill 99% of the population living there [11] Gustang was the first to systematically analyse and classify shinsoo and Enryu (who is rumoured to be able to create life from shinsoo) showed his shinsoo control was superior by killing the 43rd Floor Guardian.
According to Androssi Zahard, she felt she shouldn't fight Rachel and had the feeling she came from "a different place from us."[12] It seems the Princess was unsettled enough to join up with Rachel and even accepted and obeyed Rachel's request to not fight Baam's team.[12] Something similar might also have attracted Koon Aguero Agnis to Baam,[13] as Aguero was one who never trusted others and who never talked to others unless necessary. Yet Aguero thought that Baam was too special to be ordinary and even went out of his way to help him, risking his status.[14] This might also explain Yuri, Black March and Yihwa's instant attraction towards Baam.
According to Alumik Edrok, the Tower only opens its doors for "something it needs," implying that Irregulars are deliberately accepted into the Tower's system to change its status quo in some fashion.[1]
According to Hwa Ryun, Rachel (and, based on context, Baam) are beings that "not even the Guides can foresee." [15] This could be another way to demonstrate the Irregulars' capacity of violating the Tower's laws and bringing change.

Shinsoo (신수 (神水), shinsu, literally "divine water") is a substance that flows through and is produced by the Tower. Each Floor has areas of varying amounts of Shinsoo density, increasing with each Floor. In lower concentrations, its density makes the substance act like a gas, but in higher concentrations, it behaves like a liquid.
Shinsoo's most significant difference to air is the laws by which it operates. Unlike air, which uniformly conforms to the laws of pressure when flowing, shinsoo has no unifying laws. It flows entirely differently in different places and Floors, at both its own whim and that of the Guardian of the floor. The flow of shinsoo determines its qualities, allowing it to appear as water, fire, light and other phenomena and materials. Shinsoo has no singular property or feature, and is rather the very basis of all energy and things within the Tower.
Shinsoo is essential for living in the Tower, as it allows for breathing and provides moisture for the inhabitants. Lero-Ro stated that within the Tower, Shinsoo replaces air and carries out all the processes that air would.
According to Lero-Ro, Shinsoo is said to have no limits. Through Shinsoo alone, one can attain eternal youth, immortality, control over the elements and even the powers of a god. Also, there is a rumour Enryu is able to create life using Shinsoo.
Shinsoo and magic are individual concepts, and follow different rules. Of the two, the mechanics of Shinsoo are more commonly known and accessible.
In Ashul Edwaru's "Of the Tower's Weapons", it is mentioned that Shinsoo is created by the Tower and even exists in sealed areas. What Shinsoo is created from, is unknown. In turn, the Guardians control Shinsoo on each Floor. Since the Guardian of the 43rd Floor is dead, Shinsoo on that Floor is very weak.
Sometimes when people start to handle Shinsoo, their growth stops before they become adults.[1]
Being able to directly control Shinsoo is a very rare talent and it can be said that this talent itself is an absolute necessary requirement in order to become a Ranker. Basically, most, if not all, Regulars have some degree of control over Shinsoo, although this does not mean all Regulars can become skillful manipulators of Shinsoo.[2] While Wave Controllers specialise in using it, all positions have to learn it eventually to pass the tests, to fight successfully or to use it to strengthen their bodies.
Irregulars, who have entered the tower on their own power, have a natural affinity with Shinsoo, which leads to them being extremely powerful - one of the reasons they are considered to be so dangerous.
Shinsoo Resistance is a natural resistance against Shinsoo, allowing the individual to resist attacks consisting of Shinsoo, move around in areas with certain amounts of Shinsoo density and so on. It seems to be inborn for Tower inhabitants.
Manipulation of shinsoo: There are two ways to control Shinsoo: control through an item or direct control. Generally speaking, when one says "manipulating Shinsoo", it usually refers to direct control.[2]
Shinsoo manipulation abilities vary greatly among individuals, although members of the 10 Great Families have a large chance of being born with the talent of Shinsoo manipulation. Branch houses that originate from the main houses of the 10 Great Families are no exception to this probability of having the talent at birth. A few unknown members of these branch families keep the origins of their blood a secret, maintaining the passing down of the talent of manipulating Shinsoo.[2]
Externally manipulating Shinsoo to change the environment, to attack an opponent or to carry out other actions, such as flying or levitation, is known as Shinsoo manipulation (신수 조작 (神水 操作), shinsoo jojahk; "divine water manipulation"). Depending on the group or region, it also goes by several other names such as "water mastery" (수역 (水役), sooyeok; "to make water a servant") or "wind technique" (풍술 (風術), poongsul; "wind skill").[4]
The first person who began to systematically organize Shinsoo was one of the heads of the 10 Great Families, Po Bidau Gustang. All of the language (jargon), standards and units related to Shinsoo that are used today all originate from Gustang's work.[4]
Shinsoo can be used to enhance physical abilities, to create barriers and as a formidable destructive energy. As mentioned above, there is even a rumour that Enryu can even use it to create life.
Contracts: In order to manipulate Shinsoo directly (without the use of an item) within the Inner Tower or Outer Tower, a contract with the Guardian of the Floor must be made.[2] In regards to items, only items that already have a contract made with the Guardian can be used. For example, an item that has a contract with the Guardians of the 2nd~30th Floors cannot be used at the 31st Floor.[2]
Because one has made a contract with the Guardian does not mean one can manipulate Shinsoo anywhere on that Floor.[2]
After a contract has been made with a Guardian, one must uphold several terms and conditions. If one violates any of these rules, the contract is considered to have been broken and one's rights are taken away, making their contract null. The strictness of these rules varies between class to class. In terms of the contract that Rankers and High Rankers make with Guardians, it can be said that they are nearly completely free of restrictions.[2]
It is not impossible to manipulate Shinsoo without a contract. Simple manipulation of amounts below a certain standard is possible without a contract. Also, an innate resistance to Shinsoo, a body strengthening ability that utilises Shinsoo or other similar skills are all natural abilities that one can have and thus do not require contracts.[2]
It is known that there is exactly one place in the Tower where Shinsoo can be freely manipulated without a contract.[2] This is the 43rd Floor, as its previous Guardian was killed by Enryu.
The 10 Great Families, their numerous branch houses, and a few other families have a higher chance to be born already able to manipulate Shinsoo. In the 10 Great Families, this does not actually mean they do not have a contract, it occurs because they are considered to have a contract at birth. (Note: When they make a contract directly with Guardians, their Shinsoo manipulation obviously becomes stronger.)[2]
The god of guardians confirmed that Irregulars have the authority to control shinsoo without contracts nor restrictions.[5]
Baang, Myun and Soo[6] The basic unit of Shinsoo manipulation is called Baang (방 (放); release), the size of the Baang is called Myun (면 (面); surface) and the density of Shinsoo that goes in a Baang is called Soo (수 (水); water).[4]
Note: The Company used "room" for Baang. However, room is actually 房(fáng) as opposed to 放(fàng). They used "room" because the whole explanation is easier to understand if you imagine it using "room / wall / mass". e.g. imagine some Rooms and each has a certain size (specified by Wall). But having many Rooms with big Walls doesn't mean it's strong because you also need to count Mass (basically density of object).
Baang The Baang is the basic unit in which Shinsoo is measured by and made up of. The more Baangs one can control, the more skilled at manipulating Shinsoo one is judged to be. However, this does not mean one can manipulate greater Myun and higher Soo with many Baangs. As the number of Baangs increase, control becomes more difficult. Overdoing the handling of Baangs can physically and mentally exhaust the manipulator - in serious cases, this may lead to death. If supported by a Lighthouse, the manipulation of the created Baangs can become much easier, but this does not mean the number of Baangs increases.[4] The control of three or more Baangs appears to be rare for an E-rank Regular,[7] to the point where out of all E-rank Regulars, there are only about 10 who can control 3 Baangs.[8]
SIU has said that High Rankers normally control between 30 and 50 Baangs.
Myun 'Myun 'refers to the size of a Baang. Specifically, it refers to the surface area that Shinsoo is spread out across, regardless of height. 1 Myun is equal to 1 pyeong (평, 坪), which is equal to around 3.306 square meters of Shinsoo. When discussing the size of a Baang, the height is not considered because its range of fluctuation is large and heavily depends on the situation, which makes it difficult to discern. (Height is not involved in the calculation of the size of the Baang. The height is dealt with by converting it using the numerical value of the concentration of the Baang in question.) It can be said that the wider the Myun one can control, the wider the area in which Shinsoo can be applied. Those who can control a large Myun are closest to what the traditional Wave Controllers were, who controlled the flow of the battlefield. Since they had to be able to control Shinsoo throughout the whole battlefield, the Myun the Wave Controller had would have to be the size of the battlefield.
However, because one can control a wide Myun does not mean one can manipulate a certain concentration of Shinsoo within the Myun. Normally, the centre of a Myun has the highest concentration of Shinsoo and the circumference has the lowest concentration, but skilled manipulators can make the outer layer quite dense. There are also some who can control the concentration within the Baang quite freely, although this is quite rare.[4]
Soo Soo refers to the concentration or mass of Shinsoo within a Baang. Only the concentration of Shinsoo in the most concentrated area of the Baang is used to calculate Soo. There is no numerical unit used on Earth that can be related to Soo. The measurement of Soo can only be done using a Lighthouse, Observer or specialized senses. The higher the Soo, the more effective and destructive a Baang is. This is why controlling a high Soo is extremely important. Normally, the denser the Shinsoo in the environment, the faster the Soo in a Baang can be increased. However, there is a limit to the amount of Soo that can be pressed into a Baang and this limit depends on the person. The environment has no effect in overcoming this limit whatsoever. The concentration of Soo within a Baang is not uniform, either. The value of Soo changes depending on the Myun, so there are big differences in regards to Soo between individuals who manipulate Shinsoo. If one has very good mental concentration, it is possible to manipulate a high Soo of Shinsoo within a small Myun. If one is very good at distributed data processing, it is possible to manipulate a certain amount of Soo within a large Myun.[4]
Baang, Myun, and Soo Basically, when discussing the Baang, Myun, and Soo an individual can control, Baang would actually refer to the maximum number of Baangs one can manipulate simultaneously. Myun would actually refer to the maximum Myun one can manipulate if they created only one Baang and Soo would actually refer to the maximum concentration one can press into a Baang, regardless of the Myun in this case. For example, let's say someone can:
control 4 Baangs at once, but they're not very big or dense control 100 Myun if they create only 1 Baang and focus everything on it gather up to 30 Soo into a single Baang Despite the fact that they are unable to do all of the above at the same time, they are still evaluated as being able to control "4 Baang, 100 Myun, 30 Soo".[4]
Baang, Myun and Soo are very closely related and, when supported by a Lighthouse or some other form of aid, large differences can be seen. Normally, the more numerous the number of Baang, the smaller the Myun and lower the Soo that can be managed and the larger the Myun, the lower the Soo that can be managed. Soo therefore heavily depends on the numerical value of Myun and Baang, as an increase in either means a decrease in Soo. Fundamentally, this is known as the "minus tendency" (마이너스 기질 (氣質), maineoseu gijil; or "minus constitution"). Sometimes, there is a special case in which the numbers of manageable Myun and Soo instead increase as the number of Baangs increases. This special case is known as "plus tendency" (플러스 기질 (氣質), peuleoseu gijil; or "plus constitution") and is an extremely rare talent.[4]
The minus tendency can be overcome with improvement from training and support from external aids, which helps in reducing the amount subtracted. However, one can never become a plus tendency.[4] Also, being a plus does not mean one can produce an infinite number of Baangs. Pluses find it equally difficult to increase the number of Baangs.[4]
Records Until now, the person who has handled the largest numerical value of Shinsoo is Enryu. Although the accurate number is not recorded, it's clear that it surpasses other recorded figures greatly. According to a Light Bearer who could record Enryu's combat, Enryu is known to have handled over 9000 Baangs during combat.[4]
Types of Shinsoo Manipulation There are two major types of Shinsoo manipulation:
Flow Control (흐름제어, 흐름制御, heureumjae'eo) Reverse-Flow Control (역흐름제어, 逆흐름制御 ,yeokheureumjae'eo) Flow Control is reading the original flow of Shinsoo and manipulating that natural flow. On the other hand, Reverse-Flow Control refers to completely altering and even reversing the flow of Shinsoo to produce an effect.[9]
Flow Control Flow Control is reading the flow of Shinsoo and manipulating it according to that flow.[9]
Although there is no exact predictable pattern to the flow of Shinsoo, Shinsoo does momentarily flow in certain directions, so one can efficiently manipulate Shinsoo by reading and encouraging the flow in desired directions. Once one begins to control Shinsoo in one direction, it is difficult to change direction.[9]
The greatest advantage to flow control is that it allows the manipulator to control a large amount of Shinsoo without much effort. Compared to reverse-flow control, flow control is much faster and the user can control larger amounts of Shinsoo.[9]
Sometimes, one can take advantage of the flow of the enemy's Baang of Shinsoo to make it their own. Of course, the most important part is reading the current flow of Shinsoo and finding the optimum point - the best way to use it.[9]
This also applies to Body Reinforcement (신체강화, 身體强化 , shinchae gahnghwa; or "Physical Enhancement"). Every living organism within the Tower has an individual flow of Shinsoo. By using this flow, one can heal themselves or others, enhance their physical capabilities or grant numerous other abilities.[9]
Of course, the opposite is also possible. If you strengthen or speed up the flow of Shinsoo within your own body, you can strengthen and speed up your own body, but you may also inflict a proportional amount of internal damage on yourself. This also applies to others. If you control your enemy's flow of Shinsoo beyond its limit, your enemy will be reduced to nothing but a sack of skin, like a popped water balloon.[9]
Let's take a look at the case of Eurasia Blossom, who was the most talented and destructive in the Tower's history. She once proved that just by "accelerating" the Shinsoo in one area, she could instantly kill 99% of the population living there.[9]
Reverse-Flow Control Reverse-Flow Control is controlling Shinsoo by forcefully changing its flow. It is slower than flow control and thus generally means the user can only control a smaller amount of Shinsoo in comparison to flow control, but allows the user to completely dictate the flow of Shinsoo, allowing them efficiency for the amount of Shinsoo used. Reverse-flow control is mostly used to destroy or stop the enemy.[9]
Reverse-flow control requires more caution when compared to flow control. In fact, to use reverse-flow control, you need to be able to read the flow of Shinsoo more accurately than you need to for flow control. You instead break, block and shatter the flow and make it your own. Changing the flow of shinsoo in the wrong ways can be unintentionally destructive, requiring caution. Even though this may sound very destructive, flow control is actually better for destroying things.[9]
Is wiser to not make situations where you need to use reverse-flow control, but if you ever fall into a situation in which you must use reverse-flow control, listen to the wise words of Lightpen (라이트펜, Raiteupen), the current vice-president of the Research Association - "There is only one thing needed to defeat an enemy using reverse-flow control. You just have to be overwhelmingly more powerful than your opponent."[9]
A Combination of the Two Kinds A few talented Wave Controllers in the Tower are capable of the magnificent feat of utilising Flow Control and Reverse-Flow Control at the same time. A simple analogy would be the talent of being able to play table tennis against two opponents at once holding a paddle in each hand.[9]
This does not mean the same thing as just making two Baangs of Shinsoo. Of course, using different kinds of control in each Baang is a difficult task, but you are only considered to have this talent if you can use both Flow Control and Reverse-Flow Control in the same Baang.[9] While difficult, mastering and using both forms of control provides a massive boost in efficiency and power.
The best example is Floral Butterfly Piercing Technique, a technique only taught to FUG members. This technique is a very destructive "Damage Technique" (타격술 (打擊術), tahgyeoksool). Once your body is in contact with your opponent's, you forcefully "reverse-flow control" the flow of Shinsoo in your opponent's body by accelerating the flow of Shinsoo inside your own body. You then "flow control" the returning shock inside your own body to protect yourself from the backlash. This is a dangerous technique that destroys everything in contact with your body while leaving you completely unharmed.[9]
Shinsoo Quality Shinsoo controlled by few special people contains special qualities. A person can have more than one Shinsoo quality (like at least Electricity and Ice for Koon Eduan). A Shinsoo quality that suits one is easier to use and to concentrate into a Baang. Moreover, Shinsoo quality that suits one has a much higher density than ordinary Shinsoo, meaning you can use an attack with plenty of destructive power without increasing the size or number of Baangs. In addition, it seems that Shinsoo quality also manifests in some sort of form (like a Spear for Koon Eduan).
Quality-manifested Shinsoo Control: Shinsoo quality can be manifested externally. Internal quality Shinsoo Control: Shinsoo can also be exploded inside the body to obtain power. An example of this would be the Lightning Pill. [10]
Positions: Position:
Positions are the roles one would take on in battle should they be in a team.
The Definition of the Position The battles in the Tower are mostly fought as teams and the Position (포지션, pojisheon) is the role an individual plays in a team. Of course it's possible to battle without deciding the Positions, but it's more efficient to divide Positions. The names or the roles are named mostly from the battles of the first 10 Great Families. Thus, the Positions are mainly based on the men vs Shinheuh - livings battles, rather than the men vs men battles. That doesn't mean current Positions are worthless in men vs men battles.
Now that the importance of the men vs men battles are getting bigger than before in the Tower, current Positions are evolving accordingly. All Positions have to make a contract with a Guardian so they are able to use Shinsoo for purposes like Shinsoo strengthening.
Note that one person is not limited to one position. Prince is a Light Bearer, yet possesses Fisherman equipment, and Koon Ran is a Fisherman, but can take the Spear Bearer position with his Lightning Spear techniques. Scouts like Hatsu would also be good at the Fisherman position and Scouts like Leesoo would be good at commanding and strategising, hence his suitability for the Light Bearer position. Apple is capable of being both a Scout and Light Bearer. The top rankers, or at least Urek Mazino and Zahard, are masterfully capable of taking up all position.
Positions your character may be(for now choose one)
Fisherman (낚시꾼, nakksikkun or "Angler") is said to be the epitome of all Positions.[1] The Position is suited for close to medium-range combatants and the main offence of the team. Fishermen tend to use Reel and Needles. Swords and other flat bladed weaponry are scarce in the Tower the higher the Floor one goes. This is because of their impeding level of drag, a detriment to weapons with larger surface area, in high density shinsoo environments that are common on the higher Floors of the Tower.
About: A Fisherman generally possess the most destructive power in man-to-man fights. They usually carry light arms, with no heavy weapons. Fishermen are divided into two classes: Reel Fishermen, who use Reel Inventories to attack their enemy at medium range, or Man-to-man Fishermen, who go directly on the offensive at close range. The Fishermen constitute the main offensive force of a team and are usually at the centre of a battle.
Spear Bearer (창지기, 搶지기, changjigi) is the Position that snipes the opponent and backs up the Fishermen using Spears. Spear Bearers comprise the long range offence of the team.
About: Spear Bearers do not tend to be very powerful in a melee, but are very valuable due to their pinpoint attacking from a distance. Some carry Needles when in the front, bearing the possibility of a melee in mind, but most don't. They carry inventories, specially created for holding spears, called Pipes which are quite heavy. They are basically divided into two types, the Short-distance type, who use their spears to hit enemy weak points in the midst of a battle, and the Long-distance type, who snipe from far away. The role of a Spear Bearer is to provide backup for the Fishermen by keeping up a constant attack on the enemy's weak points.
With support of Lighthouse, an accomplished Spear Bearer is able to throw a spear tens of kilometres away. The Lighthouse has a feature which can adjust and guide the trajectory of the spear.
The Scout (탐색꾼, 探索꾼, tamsaegkkun) is the Position for literally scouting. They move ahead of the group, observe the environment and situation. They also aid the Fishermen as secondary offence.
About: Scouts are usually lightly armed for the intention to be agile and swift in movement and thinking. They usually play the role of helping the Fishermen regain a foothold or keeping watch of the enemy's movements. However, in terms of frequency and risk of combat, a Scout is a step above the Fisherman as they are often the first to encounter the enemy (e.g. Ship Leesoo encountering the Bull). Scout is a position which regards mental strength as very important, so someone who possesses weak mental strength can't be a Scout.[1]
They read the change of Shinsoo and collect visible data about the environment and enemies, using Observers, which then transfer gathered information back to the Light Bearers. They are basically divided into two types: The Basic Scouts generally work on gathering information for the Light Bearers and keep watch whilst the Battle Valuing Scouts focus on backing up the Fishermen in close-range combat.

Techniques used by Scouts Black Fish: A much used Shinsoo technique that blocks out light, thereby making the scout "invisible". This is both used to hinder the attack of Fishermen and Spear Bearers and is just as important to help the Scout's Observers. Hologram: Using an Observer, the Scout can create a hologram of themselves to trap the enemy. The hologram can move like the real thing, but it disappears when it is attacked.
Light Bearer (등대지기, 燈臺지기, deungdaejigi; "one who protects the Lighthouse" or "Lighthouse Keeper") is a Position which uses exploring devices called Lighthouses to gain information on the battle or the surroundings.
Also, a Light Bearer tends to gather information and formulate plans with the help of such information as they command their Lighthouse. They are also called Lighthouse keepers because they protect the Lighthouse. However, a Light Bearer must still be able to fulfil both roles as there may be times when they are expected to assume another role.I
About: Lighthouses are glowing devices made of Suspendium and are used for gathering information to aid the Light Bearer's teammates in battle. The more Suspendium the Lighthouse possess, the better the Lighthouse shall be.[1] Some Lighthouses have an Observer function but as their mobility decreases, they become harder to handle. Light Bearers tends to pair up with Guides and they provide information and the Guides lead the way.[2] The battles in The Tower are fought mostly in dark places, so it is very hard to battle without Light Bearers. A Light Bearer may take a frontal or rear position.
When assuming a frontal position, the Light Bearer participates in combat themselves and gathers information on enemy weaknesses, using Lights. Such Light Bearers must have exceptional Shinsoo control and be able to maintain control of their Lighthouses.[3] They must be able to extend the reach of their Light cubes for a good distance, so their Lights can gather information about the environment and the battles which are transmitted to the Lighthouse. As there may be more than 2 to 3 battles at once, their Lights must be extended far enough to be able to attack a large area or cover them so the Light Bearer can analyse the situation.[4]
When taking the rear position, the Light Bearer observes battles from a distance and collects data to use in future strategies. They basically control a Lighthouse which serves as a battle command centre. Using information collected by smaller Lighthouses they form strategies to direct and control the tide of a battle. They also issue instructions to their team members and, based on their feedback, decide on the next actions to take.[5] Because of this, a Light Bearer must be very knowledgeable, sharp, resourceful, good at analysing information and be able to come up with alternative strategies if their team is in a tight spot or if a previous plan has failed. Combat ability of these types of Light Bearers can't be lacking as they must be able to defend their Lighthouse if the enemy decides to attack it.

Techniques used by Light Bearers Flow Control: A technique that restricts the opponent's movements by manipulating the Shinsoo within the manipulation field of the Lighthouse. It can be used with 2 to 3 Lighthouses.[citation needed] Triple Field: the ability to restrict an enemy's movement with 3 Lighthouses (although, it's just something Prince made up).[3] Quadruple Blockage: Using 4 Lighthouses Khun can block the movements of his opponent.[6] Centripetal Force Control: A technique that prevents enemies inside the field from escaping by using the middle Lighthouse as the centre. It requires 4 Lighthouses and can easily paralyse several people simultaneously. First used by Goseng[4] Lighthouse Shinsoo Manipulation Skill Weapon Boost - Emerald Sword: A technique used to boost the power of one's weapon.[7] Enna Core Mystery Sphere: By using a Lighthouse that uses an Enna Core, the user can create a huge blue honeycomb sphere to trap an opponent. It can change to its "Red Crystal" mode on command.[8] Shield / Barrier: A technique that forms a shield between Lighthouses. Teleportation: A technique that allows the teleportation of people and objects to another within the manipulation field of the Lighthouse to another Lighthouse. It was said by SIU that Lighthouse Teleportation is dangerous to use in the middle of the battle and may not work if done hastily. Skilled Light Bearer can kill using Teleportation.[9] BOX (박스, bagseu) an information-sharing community or "Blog" used by the Light Bearers, which can be used for sharing pictures among other things. It was first seen being used by both Apple and Yeo Goseng, when they used BOX to search and collect information about Beniamino Cassano through the Lighthouse.[1]
Wave Controller (파도잡이, 波濤잡이, padojab-i) is a Position where one helps their allies in battles by attacking the enemy or by aiding the team using Shinsoo. Out of all the five ordinary Positions, Wave Controller is the rarest to be chosen for.
About: Even for a rare Position, the Wave Controller Position comes with extreme individual variations. There are Wave Controllers who recklessly attack the enemy and there are those change the tide of the battle by subtly altering the flow of the Shinsoo.
Since the ability to use raw Shinsoo at a level of efficiency that makes it more powerful than combining it with weaponry is quite rare, there are only handful of Wave Controllers as the traditional meaning, even among the Rankers. Most Wave Controllers lean to the powers of Shinsoo-manipulating items, but there are those who manipulate Shinsoo without any item whatsoever.
There are basically two types of Wave Controllers: Attacking-type and Support-type, but this kind of categorising is not used much. Wave Controllers are described as the directors of battles. Most of them have direct battle abilities and serve other Positions as well.[1]
Note: Apparently, Wave Controller doesn't necessarily refer to a person who manipulates Shinsoo but the conventional meaning of this term basically is used also in the Outer Tower. In this sense, it probably refers to a non-human like a Shinheuh species or even possibly an artificial organism or anything technological that can manipulate Shinsoo without an item.[1]
Basic Arming (Ranker) A Wand: A Wand (완드, wandeu; "Wand") is an item with the ability to create and collect an amount of Shinsoo. The ability to control Shinsoo is very rare, and most Regulars and Rankers use special items when they wish to manipulate larger amounts of Shinsoo. These items are called Wands.

Special position definition - A Special Position is a very rare Position. Note: Every basic Position requires manipulation of Shinsoo and as such, it is the same for Positions like "Dansul" or "Wonsul". As in: not just Wave Controllers get to learn them.
Special positions:
The Guide (길잡이, Giljahbi; "one who chooses and leads the way") is a special Position that leads the way for the team.
About Within the Tower there are two known prominent species with the potential ability to guide. Such species are categorised as the Silver Dwarves and the Red Witches.[1] Silver Dwarves are known for their distinctive silver hair and short stature whilst the Red Witches are known for their bright red hair.[2]
When Koon Aguero Agnis asked her how she was present on the 29th Floor despite having failed the Floor of Test, Hwa Ryun replied that "I can go anywhere. I'm a Guide, after all",[3] implying that Guides can reach Floors without passing the tests normally necessary to do so. This is further confirmed by SIU stating that Hwa Ryun had technically failed on the Second Floor.[4]
SIU described Guides as a human GPS that can tell the best move or make predictions, but how that comes to be is not known until he further explains it. So even if they predicted that someone would die in a month they cannot give any specific way to avoid it, but they can try their best. Of course, a prediction a day or an hour ahead can be more detailed, someone can't avoid it once you end up on the wrong path.[5]
Both Silver Dwarf and Red Witch Guides must travel through the 43rd Floor as a pilgrimage.[6] For Red Witches, their place of pilgrimage is Gallstone Village, to which they rely on the memories that have been passed down from their ancestry to find it. Silver Dwarves also have a place on the 43rd Floor they go on a pilgrimage to, although it was stated by Evan to be in a state of ruin.[6]
Abilities A Guide usually works as a team with a Light Bearer. While the Light Bearer shines light upon the dark surroundings, the Guide may lead its team through the most advantageous route. Generally, the Guide locates the path and conveys the information to the Light Bearer, who then transmit the information to the entire team. However, if the Guide is travelling on a safer path and doesn't need a Light Bearer, then they probably use a Pocket to illuminate the surroundings.[7] Guides, however, have quite low battle capabilities.[8]
Guides have excellent analysis skills, and an A-Rank Guide can determine the power of an individual just by looking at them. However, Evan Edrok failed to assess Baam's inherent qualities and thought of him as average. Guides seen so far in the series have displayed an uncommon intuition as to what was going on, most likely due to their ability to read and understand 'paths'.
However, the most notorious trait of a Guide is the ability of "seeing" the paths of the Tower and instructing someone on the path they can take. However a Guide can only teach the path to those who are capable of walking it.[9] During the events of Headon's test Evan Edrok didn't help Baam during the Guardian's Test on the 1st Floor because an ordinary person would die if they had tried the solution.[9]
As stated above, Yu Han Sung describes Guides as being able to foresee the future and even change it.[10] Guides are able to find "hidden" things in the Tower and to read one's fate (though not those of Rachel, if not all Irregulars[11]). Moreover, solving complex puzzles and avoiding traps come preternaturally to them.[4] Guides are also capable of seeing their own destiny so they neither fear nor try to avoid their own death, that's how each Guide accepts their individual fate.[6]
The speciality of Silver Dwarves tends to be seeing the crossroads right in front of them whereas the speciality of Red Witches tends to be seeing fate.[12]
The Living Ignition Weapon Emile can prevent Guides from using their full abilities.[13] Likewise, according to Evan Edrok, their abilities are inhibited on the Floor of Death.[14]
Anima (부리미, Boorimi; or "Charmer") is a special Position and refers to someone who subjugates (부림, boorim; "to make someone into a servant") and controls Shinheuh and other creatures to do their bidding.[1][2] An Anima is quite rare, even among Rankers.
About Unlike many other special positions, it's not a skill that anyone can learn, but instead requires a natural talent.[1][2] The skill to subjugate a creature existed before the 10 Families entered the Tower although, at some point, the Lo Po Bia Family acquired the skill.[3] Not everyone from the Lo Po Bia Family is an Anima, but they all have the potential and a few Lo Po Bia elites have abilities that are on a whole new level from standard Anima.[3]
By subjugating creatures, one can get information or use the creature and its abilities directly in battle.
Bowl: Shinheuh can be compressed and stored in bowls (그릇, geureut).[1][2] Later, in NAVER official chapter release, SIU use the term fishbowl (어항 , eohang).[4]
In order to control a creature, the Anima must use a bowl. Bowls are spaces that an Anima uses to control a subjugated creature. This is accomplished through a special kind of Shinsoo.[4] The container that an Anima employs as a bowl may vary from a simple jar to an entire chamber. An Anima can fill the bowl and store their subjugated creatures inside. According to SIU, bowls are usually best when they are portable and the Shinsoo must be changed regularly to maintain control over the user's creature.[3] So far, Metalfish and Fenryl are the only known creatures that do not require a bowl in order to control them.[5]
Examples Lo Po Bia Alphine uses her "work office room" in the Kaiser's Auction House as the bowl to control her Shadow Fox Shinheuh. Lo Po Bia Ren uses his "sheep fur costume" as the bowl.
Weaknesses Since the user manipulates subjugated creatures to do their bidding, the Anima's greatest weakness is none other than the user.[4] By taking care of the Anima, one also may defeat the subjugated creature in the process. Also, since an Anima always needs a bowl in order to control a creature, one may be able to destroy the bowl or alter the Shinsoo in the bowl to break the control over the subjugated creature.[4]
Wonsulsa (원술사, Wonsulsa or "Circle Ability User") is a Special Position referring to a controlling ability called "Wonsul" which circulates Shinsoo into a perfect circle, causing it to gain much greater strength while retaining the same myun and soo.[1][2],
Wonsul users can use Shinsoo as a booby-trap and, like Love, they can also throw Shinsoo like a ball or attack the opponent with a spinning-reinforced body.[2]
In order to become a Wonsulsa, one is chosen to take certain Tests at Gustang's Research Association to become certified.[2] Because of this, there are few Wonsulsa as only those who have passed have learned this technique. Requirements to be chosen to take the test are currently unknown and it is also unknown if Regulars are allowed to take this test.(for our terms regulars can take the test )
Known techniques: Beam Cannon Beam Cannon is a technique that fires off a white beam to attack. The user focuses Shinsoo into a spherical shape in the palms of their hands and then releases it in a white beam. A circle of the same colour is created around the ray after being thrown.
Blue oar:Blue Oar (청노) is a wonsul technique that create or form a circular disc made of Shinsoo below the user's foot and use it to flying and surf the sky.
Dansulsa (단술사, 斷術師, Dahnsoolsa) is a Special Position and basically, the name refers to the user of a technique called "Dansul", a powerful Wave Controller technique.
Description First, the user applies a great Shinsoo pressure on the target so they can't move and then, with any sort of weapon, even greater pressure is applied to crush the enemy. It is implied that the force can be teleported, as a user was seen bringing a hammer down on a Lighthouse to smash an opponent far away.[1]
Defender (디펜더, dipendeo) is a rare position whose aim is to protect the Light Bearer and/or Spear Bearer during battle. Defenders and Spear bearers make a good team, with the great defender Hendo Lok Bloodmadder and the great spear bearer Khun Eduan being known as a combination that is incredibly difficult to stop.[1]
Hwayeomsa or Flame User (화염사 (火炎師), hwayeomsa) refers to a person who is able to convert shinsoo into fire and then use it for various purposes. However, it has been said that converting shinsoo into fire is very difficult to do. That being said, not much else is known about Flame Users yet.
Jeonsulsa or Lightning User (전술사 (電術師), jeonsulsa) refers to a person who is able to give shinsoo electrical properties and/or convert shinsoo into electricity. Some users, such as those from certain Special Families, are able to wield electricity naturally while others must take and pass a special test to become a Jeonsul.
