Wait. Stop. He doesn't have to "challenge" himself. He wrote a perfectly fine character. People are just reading too much into it. I knew exactly what to expect when I read his character. It'd be different he was writing poorly in the IC but he never got that chance because he was "one weakness too short".

Alright, pardon me. I was under the impression this was turning into a superman-kryptonite situation. If not, never mind.
On a side note: Why don't we make a power ranking list, so we have a good idea of where everyone's at.

For example, something like:

1. Sea Snake
2. Chok-Lad
3. Radience
4. The Ghoul
5. Paul Bunyan
6. Dissonance
7. Sentinel
8. Soldier of Fortune
9. Yellow Jacket
10. Marionette
11. Gunrat
12. Polaris
13. Reaper
14. Gilgamesh Sinn

Does that seem right?

Edit: Or does this seem like something that could just lead to more arguments?...
@The Kid Lantern What is it with you people and mentioning all these Earth locations. Has it not occurred to any of you that he's a SPACE COP? Space. Cop. I doubt he'll come within a thousand lightyears of Earth for any reason that isn't galactic civil war or something. Earth isn't the only planet that has to matter in a superhero universe you know. So why exactly does my SPACE ALIEN COP who operates on ALIEN PLANETS THAT ARE NOT EARTH absolutely need to have a bunch of weaknesses to shit that only really matters if he visits Earth? The armor is not that strong, honestly it's not much better than Stormtrooper Armor, and news flash, it can be damaged by enemy weapons if hit enough times. And once it's damaged enough? That "basic" environmental protection goes bye bye, so feel free to fuck him over with a Cold Gun or by ejecting him out into space at that point.

Honestly, people are gonna give me this much shit over this, then it's not worth continuing. Sorry I wasted your time.

Mary-Sues are considered bad for a reason. The less weaknesses a character has, the lazier the writers can be, and the more boring the story becomes. I could write a two-page list of everything wrong with my hero, and every way she could be killed. Not because I don't want her to win, but because it makes for a deeper character, with more subtleties in the story. Think of the movie 'Predator'. Arnold injures and confuses the Predator in about a dozen different ways, which makes for a much better story/fight, than just "nothing.... nothing.... nothing..... OH, this one specific thing suddenly kills him."

I advise you to challenge yourself as a writer, by making a flawed, weak character. Explore the potential implications.

Or don't, if that's your inclination. Just something to consider.
Alright, so this is an alternate history, in which Greenland and Vinland were settled about 150 years early (they didn't exist in 800 AD otherwise).

Grœnland & Vínland

(In teal)

Government Description
Grœnland & Vinland are governed by two Jarls, appointed by King Gøtrik Haraldsson of Greater Hålogaland. Although contact with 'The Homeland' is so rare, that these two essentially act as de facto co-rulers. They are, respectively, Jarl Ragnarr of Grœnland, and Jarl Sigurðr of Vinland. Both rule as dictators, but are advised by their councils of nobles and seers.

History
In the late 700's, the young King Gøtrik Haraldsson, having recently unified all neighbouring kingdoms under the banner of Greater Halogaland, decided it was better to expand his empire westward, rather than facing the great armies of Danmark, Sweden, and Novgorod. Using Halogaland's Northern Britannia colonies as a springboard, he launched a series of expeditions into the Atlantic Ocean. First they settled the island of Iceland, and built a stalwart harbour there. From Iceland, they sprung further west, eventually reaching the massive frozen territory of Greenland. The occasional traders and messengers from these new colonies traveled back to Halogaland, bringing tales of rolling fields of green, and of a land to the south filled with grapes and berries. This was enough to convince many struggling farmers and fishermen to leave their homes and bring their families to the New World. Eventually, by the year 798, a formal government was established in the two New World colonies. Confident that his trusted Jarls could govern his new territories by themselves, he began to cut off his shipments of supplies to the colonies, in order to stockpile more resources at home. When war broke out between Halogaland and Danmark, communications stopped completely, and the colonies of Greenland, Vinland, and Iceland were left isolated. By the year 800, even Iceland had ceased nearly all communication.

Now Greenland and Vinland hope to expand their ownership of the New World, in order to sustain their growing, but hungry, populations.

Military
The colonies of Vinland and Greenland maintain only a small standing force of professionally trained soldiers, who act specifically as a personal guard for the Jarls. They are known as the Huskarlar (literally "house-men"). In times of war, the Jarls look to their peasants and slaves to be the majority of their military force. As such, a standard Vinland/Greenland army is mostly unarmoured, and often armed with only spears and axes. Swords, ring-mail tunics, and proper shields are reserved for the Huskarlar only.

Horses are viewed superstitiously, as the only horses in 'The Homeland' were small Nordlandshest ponies. The massive horse-creatures of the New World are frightening to many Vinlanders and Greenlanders. Only a select few Huskarlar ride horses, and only the smallest ones.

Economy
The Greenlandic and Vinlandic economy is based on fishing, agriculture, and hunting. Citizens live off of their own production, with a small amount being collected for the Jarls and Huskarlar. Vinland has become a much wealthier colony than Greenland, due to the presence of grapes and excess lumber. Vinlanders trade wine with the local Skrælings ('barbarians'), in exchange for furs, tools, gems, information, and specialized foods (smoked meat for example).

International Relations /Issues / Disputes
The main points of contention are with certain local tribes. Violent conflicts that came when the colonies first formed, are still present in the minds of many locals, and raids are not uncommon on either side. Occasionally, a group of Vinland or Greenland peasants will gather and raid a local tribe, only to have the favour returned a few days later. Fortunately, most Vinlanders have learned to distinguish the Skraelings by their different tribes, so as to not pick a fight with the wrong opponant. Greenlanders aren't yet so nuanced.

Religion
Greenland and Vinland are pagan colonies, paying homage to the Norse pantheon of gods. Odin and Thor are always at the forefront of worship, but different towns are allowed to select a sub-deity to be their chosen protector. Greenland tends to favour Njord, god of the fishermen, while Vinland honours Bragi, god of poetry and wine. The Huskarlar often wear pendants in dedication to Tyr, the god of war, or Forseti, the god of justice.

Accepted
Also, four terms of Trudeau, that would suck for Canada.

Haha agreed! It's a dystopian future all around!

May 2nd, 9:31 pm, Downtown New Athens

The sun had set behind the nearby mountain range, and the sky was growing darker by the minute. On the rooftop of 'Jake's Model Ship Emporium', a black-clad Xi Xiu crouched, rifle in hand, waiting for a sign. Weeks of preparation had gone into this operation. From smuggling unmarked weapons into the city, to tapping into police records, to the countless stakeouts. Gunrat couldn't wait for the hunt to finally be over. She could nearly taste it.

"Zhang", she whispered to her earpiece, "any sign of it yet?"

"I've got my eyes on every camera within three blocks of your location, ma'am, still nothing."

"Hmmm, where are you", Xiu pondered. "Come out, come out, you filthy rodent."

Moments passed, and Xiu was beginning to doubt her informant's information. The Ghoul was supposed to be heading this way. Every night there was another attack, and the creature was moving in a steady line westward. Could something have spooked it? Perhaps it was lead in a different direction, for one reason or another.

"Ma'am!", Gunrat's earpiece chirped. "I see it!"

"Where?"

"The morgue at West and Pender", Zhang replied, "just behind the superstore."

"How fitting", she spat, rising to her feet and breaking into a full sprint along the rooftop.

Two blocks away......

"♫ One bod, two bod, three bod, four! ♫" A rather soft, cheery voice echoed in a darkened room, lit only by the glowing full moonlight creeping in through the small upper windows of the small tiled morgue. The moonlight illuminated the blue-haired singer as she pranced around the room, weaving in between the cold lifeless bodies all laid out on metal tables in the center of the room.

"♫ Five bod, six bod, seven bod, more! ♫" The blue-haired singer continued but her prancing finally stopped as she hovered a sloppliy placed corpse. The singer's eyes appeared to twinkle in the moonlight as she licked her lips in anticpation for what was about to come... and then it did.

The blue-haired singer reached around to draw a dirty looking scalpel and waved it just over the corpse as if teasing it with what was about to come. Then she harshly jabbed the scalpel into the eye of the corpse, twisting and digging causing stagnat fluids to slowly drip out. Once she was pleased with her work, she excitedly leapt to the next body to perform the exact same procedure and so on as she continued for each of her corpses, 7 in total.

Finished she discarded the scalpel and skipped over towards the corpse where she had begun. She reached down to pick up her second tool, a hammer, and inspected it carefully as if this would have more precision than her scalpel. The hammer apparently passed her test and raised it up, waving it in the air like it was trophy. Then without any second thought she bent down to place her head on the metal operating table and began bashing the side of her skull with her own hammer. Bits of her brain exploded out as her superstrength wrecked her head but after after a few hits she stopped, apparently pleased.

She lifted her broken skull but remarkably, it was rapidly putting itself back together. Sections of her brain were replaced by a sudden resurgance of new biomaterial before her head was back to normal.

Once she recovered, she reached around and rubbed the side of her head to inspect that everything was right where she wanted it. Satisfied, she returned to the operation at hand. She gathered up all the little bits of her brain and delicately placed a piece into each of the corpes' eyes. It took only a minute for each corpse to register the foreign anomality and they suddenly sprang to life with pained, gasping moans. The dead had risen and they were ready for their newfound lives.

"Very good everyone!" Margaret, the blue haired singer, cheered as the zombies staggered to their feet. They fell in line behind her and she marched out of the morgue and into the streets. Those few that were still outside at this hour quickly deduced the situation and fled, but they were small fries in comparison to what Margaret was expecting. "Positions everyone! Chop! Chop!" She clapped her hands and the zombies shuffled from sight into dumpsters, sewers, or even under cars. Then she waited, even smiling for the street camera, knowing full well what was coming.

Still catching her breath, Gunrat rested her eye at the end of her rifle's scope.

"Mark", she mumbled to herself.

BANG!

One of the newly awoken shamblers tumbled to the ground, a sizable hole now present in its head. Xiu had to pause for a moment, and sneer at the scene unfolding before her. It was one thing to kill a man. It was another to have to re-kill a not-so-recently deceased corpse. And this creature, this "Ghoul", was magnitudes of foulness above the rest of them.

And there she was, swaying back and forth like a drunken lunatic, beneath a yellow street light. Xiu fiddled with her rifle's bolt, ejecting the old cartridge. Keeping one eye on her target, she rummaged through one of her ammo pouches for another bullet. Once in hand, she slid it into the chamber.

RAT-TAT-CLICK

Xiu was good to go. This thing had caused her enough strife over the past few months. It was time for this chapter to end. Taking a deep breath in, she lined up her target.

"Steady", she mumbled, "aaaaaaaand..... mark."
Nation Name: The Republic of Quebec / Le République Quebecois

National Flag:

Description of Government:
National Socialist nation-state, lead by the Parti de libération du Québec, a militarist faction that took hold of the Quebec's government several decades ago. The government operates under a one-party system. Elections are held to determine the occupation of various official positions, but only party members are able to vote. Entrance into the Parti is by invitation only, so as to preserve the group's ideological purity. The current president is René Mulcair.

Side in Conflict (Pro RoA, Pro USA, Neutral):
Quebec has officially announced its support for the RoA, but only because it gives Quebec an excuse to make military advances on the USA, and expand the nation's territory. In reality, the only thing the Parti hates more than Anglophones are Muslims and African-Americans. They'd be just as happy to see all of America wiped off the face of the Earth.

Demographics:
The Republic of Quebec is almost entirely Francophonic Caucasian, with official surveys reporting "98% racial and cultural purity". Actual estimates put it closer to 75% Francophonic Caucasian, 17% Anglophonic Caucasian, and 8% other.

Culture:
"All printed language is mandated to be in French, and French only. All public speech is required to be in French, and French only. All business is to be conducted in French, and French only. For the sake of our nation's purity, and the preservation of our culture, please report any breach of our sacred laws to your nearest police station."

The nation is overwhelmingly Roman Catholic, but a strong Protestant community remains active across the region, in spite of ongoing persecution.

History:
Since Canada's creation, strong tensions existed between the regions once known as Upper Canada, and Lower Canada. Violence between the French and English was constantly springing up, and no compromise could be seen. Canada eventually achieved a long period of peace, now known as the "Bilingual Golden Era", that lasted from the turn of the century, until the 1960's, when Front de libération du Québec formed. With their rise to power, the country was plagued with a series of horrific terrorist attacks. Countless civilians died in the bombings. Into the 1970's, after a decade of carnage, the Canadian government managed to arrest and kill all of the FLQ's leading members. The remaining members, now leaderless, branched off and formed the Bloc Quebecois and the Parti Quebecois. Over the next several decades, these two organizations worked hand-in-hand to drum up anti-English sentiment, and enrage the masses. Finally into the 2020's, as the Canadian economy took a serious downturn following another stock-market crash, they won a majority in the province of Quebec, and even became the official opposition of Canada's National Parliament. With so much control of the government, the attacks began again, this time backed by hundreds of government officials. Without the sufficient resistance from the federal government, the Front made their victorious return. After the death of countless Canadian officials, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, then serving his fourth term, Canada crumbled, and the nation-state of Quebec was free to claim the surrounding provinces.

Now Canada lays in shambles, with the mighty military-state of Quebec planted firmly in the middle of the continent, looking hungrily at its neighbours to the south.

Important Person(s):

Minister of Defense, Jean-Luc LeBlanc

@Rin Awww man, don't go :(. But yeah, I understand as well. If you want to leave, thats fine with us, for we'll be always open and your welcome to come back in anytime.

Agreed. The more the merrier.

Now @The Kid Lantern, are we gonna start this thing sometime soon? Just curious, because if I don't get a post up today, I might not be able to get one up till next week.
@Lmpkio

Is that a could work to putting her in as a vigilante, or as a villain?

I think I'm filling the vigilante role, and I'm not sure Lantern wants another one right off the bat. Maybe go villain if you can.
For example: You could have a story about Canada conquering Alaska.

Now you're speaking my language!

Alright, I'll see what I can think of.
