"Haven't you hear?" Roxy asked sarcastically. "We're not human anymore. Most people would say being criminals means we were never really human to begin with. After all only animals live in cages." She admitted that she knew nothing about normal society. She had never had a place in it. She doubted that anyone in their situation had. After all normal people didn't break the law. At least not to the extent they did. "Your right. I have no I did how to work with a group. Unlike you I've never done it. You should know how and yet you suck at it." She finished her steak and picked up another. She might as well eat while she had the chance.

"You haven't earned any privileges." the guard replied.

"In other words toughen up. I would think someone with your reputation would be tough enough to handle a little cold." Roxy remarked. She was curious how the other girl would react to her know about her past. Having someone with a reputation wasn't ideal but there were ways Vlad could get around that if they were ever revealed to the public. She turned her attention to the boy again. "I figured I might as well make my intent clear. I have a goal. I will do whatever I have to do to accomplish that. I don't care what that takes."

"This isn't a job and we aren't getting paid Blair." Roxy pointed out. She would understand money being someone that would lure people to the group but not the kind that could be trusted.

The guards moved to block the door. "You aren't allowed to return to your room until Vlad says so. He told us to keep you here until all of you are ready to go to the testing grounds." The man told her.

"Looks like you are going to have to learn to play with others." Roxy chuckled as she took another bite. She knew they were going to have to learn to work together and Blair was going to make that as difficult as possible.

"You're a little crazy aren't you Blair?" Roxy asked as she took a bite of the stake. She wasn't impressed by Blair's threat. She knew she could take the other girl out if she needed to. She didn't even need weapons to do it. Which was good since none of them were going to be allowed near weapons for awhile.

She thought they had carefully looked over all the files of those in the program but someone apparently had missed something in the other girls' file. "You're one of those people who courts death just because it makes life a little more interesting." She commented as she ate. It was a shame. She was sure that Blair had skill but it was clear she was one of those cocky people who felt like they had to constantly prove they were the best.

"You obviously didn't join because you want to live. And you didn't join to try to escape prison." Roxy studied Blair. Some had tried to escape. It was one of the reason they weren't here. They had tried to escaped and had been killed for it. There were enough people on death row that the government had told Vlad to kill anyone who crossed the line.

"Sorry boy. You can't be left out. You joined this crazy project which means you have to deal with the consequences of her actions as much as I do. No one is an island." Roxy told him.
Reginald chuckled. "You shouldn't encourage Roxanna's rebellion." He said as if she was some kind of teenager going through a phase. Anger flashed through Roxy. "She's too old for this kind of behavior." He said as they headed towards the dinning room.

As soon they entered the dinning room Roxy saw Maxwell. She stopped. Her hands reached for her knives out of instinct but she stopped herself. She wouldn't admit that she was afraid of him.

Maxwell was a friend and business associate of her father's. She hadn't expected him to be there but she supposed that she should have. Her father had made it clear that he expected her to marry Maxwell. He had practically planned the wedding despite the fact that she had told him that she was attracted to women.

The older man got up from his chair and moved towards them. "This must be the empath. I'm glad to get a chance to met you. You're going to be a big part of our lives."

"You're not a part of my life Maxwell. You never will be." Roxy growled.

"Still feisty I see." Maxwell chuckled as he moved towards them. He gave them a charming smile.
"Really." The older man chuckled. He knew that Roxy came across gruff. She tended to growl more than talk. He figured she had a reason but he never pushed for her to tell him what they were. Roxy never pried into their past so he no reason to pry into hers. Now he wished that he knew a little more. It was clear the younger woman was struggling with having an empath in her life.

"Wire frayed. It not that big of a deal. Easy enough to fix." Roxy replied as she removed the old wire. She handed it to Devika. "Put this in the tote that says sculpture." She used whatever she could. She figured if she was using it it wouldn't be rusting somewhere. She wasn't big into the environment but she didn't see the point of wasting something when she could use it. "Just a frayed wire. With a chair this old it happens. No biggie."

"How much do we owe?" Tilly asked softly.

"You don't own me anything." Roxy assure them as she put the new wire in.

"Nonsense we have to pay you something." The old man insisted.

"Next time you make an apple pie bring it by." Roxy replied with a shrug. She knew they would anyway. They always did. "Devika would enjoy having real food that she doesn't have to make."

@Raptra LOL gotcha. All I could think of was 'be right back' and I was sure that wasn't what you meant. So I asked.
