This is fine. Roxy is going to deny anything is wrong.

"At least you can cook. I'm useless in the kitchen." Roxy wasn't used to anyone caring about her. She didn't know how to feel about Devika's concern. It was strange. It was a fact that she couldn't change so she would have to deal with it. She was good at adapting. She had been adapting her whole life so it wouldn't be hard. She relaxed as she ate. She stuck to mostly to meat but she did eat a few pieces of vegetables. She wouldn't insult the people around her by refusing anything.

As they ate, Roxy watched Devika and her parents. It was an interesting thing to watch. She hadn't ever watched families. She hadn't seen the point. She had known she would never have a family. She would always been on the outside. She'd never belong. The thought reminded her she still had to introduce Devika to her father. She pushed her plate away. Her appetite ruined.

Roxy studied Jess. No one had had her back. She had been expected to stand on her own. She didn't know how to feel about it. As much as Jess was a part of her life. She was hesitant to trust the empath completely. Some of Jess' feelings came from the bond they shared. So they weren't really Jess'. They could vanish once the bubble was fortified. For now she was going to focus on the here and now.

"Let's start simple. Make a fist." Most people thought making a fist eas easy. Technically it was something that every could do. However if you wanted to fight or really deliver a punch there was a specific way to make a fist and throw the punch to make the most impact. In order to defend herself Jess would need to know the best way to deliver each punch and kick. The more the empath knew the better she would be able to defend herself.
I think move on to dinner
Roxy hadn't felt this out of place in a very long time. Not since her mom had tried to take her to a mother daughter tea party. She had gone in an effort to pacify her mom but the night had been a disaster. She pushed the memory away. Now wasn't the time or the place for those kind of thoughts. She needed to focus on. Right now. There was nothing anyone could do about the past.

She followed the others to the table. The place smelled great. The food would give her something to focus on other than how out of place she was. She was surprised when her phone went off. She frowned as she slide it out of her pocket. She did her best to keep it out of sight as possible. Not that she did that well. She wasn't used to trying to hide what she was doing. She was surprised at Devika's question. No one had cared about her comfort. She wasn't sure what to think. "I'm fine. Just adjusting."

"I am. I think it could be beneficial for you to know that you can defend yourself from something." Roxy answered honestly. It wasn't likely they would be physically attacked but it was better to be prepared. "I was trained as if I was going to be the heir. It was important that I be able to defend myself if the need arose. As the head of an empire is always going to have enemies. Or so my father has always said." she had heard rumors of heirs being used for ransom. She hadn't wanted to be risk being in that position. She had been willing to do what was necessary to be as strong as she could be.
