Cassiopeia pushed open the door and stepped onto the terrace. She was about to wander the deck when she heard Ren. 

Cassi turned around and beamed. ”Hi Ren! I'm doing good, just thinking up a design for the garden up here. How have you been?” Cassi asked, her voice taking on more of a compassionate tone.

”Well usually I'll run the property line to check in, but that's all trees. We could run along the road. It's usually quiet in the morning,” he said while he finished stretching.

”Oh, sure,” Cassi said and pulled her sketchbook out of her bag. ”I've got your tattoo design done by the way. I'm still working on your dad's but I want him to see to make sure he's happy with it.” Cassi grabbed a couple of pencils and tucked them behind her ear. 

She picked up her matcha and headed for the backdoor. 

”And surprise me,” Cassi said with a wink before she disappeared onto the terrace.

Avery had stopped to get a baseball cap from his room and running shoes before he slipped outside to start stretching. He wore the hat backwards with the Chicago Blackhawks logo in near pristine condition. He was stretching out his calves when the hair on the back of his neck started to prickle. 

Avery spun around and captured Kimiko in his arms before she could jump on him again. ”Not this time, little fox,” Avery said and kissed her nose before letting her go.

”Hmm, I think I like you better with a mischievous side,.” Caden shifted to lay on his side, pulling Nero off his back and holding them. ”But I understand.”

Cassi grinned, happily following along behind Nic into his apartment. She stopped to pull her boots off before stepping into his apartment and looked around. There was still a lot to do but it was starting to feel like a home.

Avery pulled his pants on, and glanced at Kimiko. He grinned and kissed her once on the lips. ”I'll meet you on the back deck,” he said, leaving her to change in peace.

Caden hesitated before he responded. ”I'll try not to, but there is a limit. I've seen things she hasn't yet. Things that would help her understand but she has to be willing to get to know who you are. Not what.”

Caden shut his eyes when Nero laid on his back, and for a moment Caden envisioned them in the air, flying above the world.

Cassi laughed at the dorky joke, absolutely loving it. ”Well, if your gym clothes are anything like what you wore yesterday to move, I wouldn't mind that either,” she declared.

Cassi stopped her matcha bubble tea innocently before the elevator doors opened.

”You were rather adorable,” Avery agreed. ”But .certain I'd let you run around until you wanted to be picked up,” he teased before he stood. 

Avery walked over to the dresser and pulled open the drawer to select a pair of joggers, deciding to forgo wearing a shirt. Laundry had been freshly done last night and Avery had just added those clothes to the drawer in Kimiko's room, so he had a few outfits before he'd have to get something new.

Caden smiled and rested a hand on Nero's leg once more. ”Even though she feels betrayed right now, Cassi and I have too much history. She won't kill me. But thank you for worrying and for understanding. Neither one of us wants to have this conversation but it needs to happen. We need to move forward.”

Caden had been understanding with Cassi's emotions when she had called on the storm that day, but his patience only lasted so long.

She walked into the elevator, watching the doors close before she grinned at Nic. ”You do look rather handsome today,” she complimented. He was dressed casually yet put together.

Cassi clicked her boots together after Nic complimented them. She sipped her tea happily before smiling at Nic. 

”Thank you. I wanted to look good for my boyfriend, you know. Ren can be so hard to impress some times,” she joked, referring to Nic's father as her boyfriend.

Avery loosened his hold on Kimiko so he could look at her. He chuckled sleepily and kissed her forehead before he released her completely and rolled onto his back to yawn and stretch. 

”Don’t glare at me. I was sound asleep before you woke up,” he teased. He sat up and looked at her. ”Want to go for a run?”

Caden sighed when Nero released another knot. He reached his hand back and squeezed Nero's ankle. ”It is helping. Thank you, little imp.” He turned his head to face the other way to stretch his neck out more. 

”I think I'm going to talk to Cassi this week,” he said after a moment. He had the bracelet to give her anyways, and it was time to approach this problem head-on.

”Mmm, well I think they are going to have two new regular customers,” Cassi declared, sipping happily at her boba tea. 

The skimming of Nic's fingers tickled Cassi’s skin until he rested a hand on her leg. It warmed instantly and Cassi tried not to let it affect her. She fiddled with her necklace, while watching Nic. 

”It is. Felt like I needed it today, and it goes well with my outfit. I'm glad you like it,” she said and wrapped her arm around his bicep, resting her hand on the crook of his elbow.

Caden gives a note of pleasure while Nero continues to work. They aren’t necessarily the greatest, but it’s the attention Nero is giving Caden that is making the moment more enjoyable and pleasurable for him.

”Not like last night, but we should still dress well,” Caden informed them.

”Nonsense. I wanted to have breakfast with you and your dad in your new place,” Cassi said and hopped into the SUV to see the wide range of drink options Nic had gotten her.

Cassi clucked her tongue and looked over the colourful drinks. She gave Nic a look when he got into the driver’s seat.

”Nicholas, this is too much. You’re going to go broke if you keep doing this,” she declared. Cassi picked up and sampled each one. They were all so good, but in the end, she chose a matcha one.

”That’ll just be a happy bonus,” Avery said, chuckling again. ”No, I thought I’d ask so you’re not here by yourself again. Maybe we could leave earlier, and I can take you for supper,” he said.

Avery’s voice shifted into a whisper as he felt Kimiko’s fingers trailing up and down his back in a soothing motion, her humming adding to the relaxing feeling. He found himself yawning and settling back into the bed.

”What are you trying to do?” he mumbled.

Caden’s skin tingled where Nero’s lips touched, and he sighed from the sensation of their touch and the knots they found. ”I don’t need to. I can always sleep on the plane.”

Cassi tightened her hold on Nic when she felt him dip her. Her spine tingled from the action and she felt briefly lightheaded from the instant sensation.

”Correct,” she said, slightly breathless. ”We should go. I’m sure your dad is probably starving, waiting for breakfast.”

It was getting harder and harder to resist Nic. At this point, she would take five minutes in the back of Caden’s SUV over a slow build-up one evening.

”Supposed to, but I’m starting to wake up a bit more… I have to pick up Caden and Nero from the airport tonight. Do you want to come with?”

Caden shifted and scanned Nero’s phone for the clock and set an alarm for ten o’clock. He set the phone down and relaxed into the bed while Nero massaged their shoulders and neck.

”You were sleeping, and you looked comfortable,” Caden mumbled into the covers. He shifted his head, turning it to the side to talk to Nero better. ”And I fell asleep watching you sleep.”
