Bio

Long time casual role player who loves tales of adventure! I enjoy tabletop games, play-by-post, and even LARP!

Wild (and sometimes weird) west and medieval fantasy games with an 'old-school' D&D feel are my favorite.

In real life, I'm a software engineer and wanna-be farmer. I have a little garden and some chickens that like to destroy my flower beds. But I like 'em anyway and they all have names. ;) Sometimes they lay me some breakfast.

Other hobbies include dog agility and archery.

@Wick There was the chest buried in rubble that Rockmar and Cedric just dug out, but also the one in the room where Eve and Tarquin had the scene with Taroyn. That was the one with the large bear skull on top of it.
Other than the skulls falling unceremoniously to the bottom of the stone chest, nothing bad happened as Rockmar took the shield. Cedric was happy enough to accept it. "A beautiful piece of work!" he exclaimed, running a hand over the lion's head as he examined it, but then admitted "I haven't trained much with a shield. June, would you like it?"

But at Rockmar's reminder that they needed to hustle, Cedric nodded. "Are Tarquin & Eve still exploring that western staircase?"
@BKburke

"With the beast roamin' round, Constable Leofwine has opened up the hall to anyone wants to stay there," Nothan said, pointing up the hill to the building where the others had stayed the previous night. As he does so, his shirt sleeve pulls up slightly showing that his arm is bandaged.

"The beast... well, it looks like some kind of hound, but too large... and unnatural red eyes that put fear into a man's heart," he shook his head, uneasy even at the memory of looking into the hound's eyes. And he didn't look like the sort of man that was easy to scare.

"It's killed 5 so far, all at night time...just rips them apart." He paused for a moment before continuing on. "Father Beacom says it won't stop until it slays every soul upon this Isle. A lot of folks are talking about packing up and leaving, but really got nowhere to go. If you and the others Lord Rolf sent think you can stop it, you'd have a lot of folks in your debt, myself included."
@BKburke No problem!

@Wick & @Marcus XVI - Did I lose your interest in the cave bear chest in-game or out-of-game? Just wanted to make sure you're still having fun...
I'm kind of scared to take this one now

If June is worried about it she can certainly give it a closer inspection... ;)
The work of clearing away enough rubble and debris from the lid of the stone chest took the group at least a quarter of an hour, but then the heavy lid could be lifted off. Within the chest, a dozen human skulls rest atop a hammered bronze shield, stylized with the image of a lion's head.

(Repeated as reminder since it was a couple pages ago:)

Enough light from outside comes through the hole in the ceiling of this room to see fairly well. This chamber has partially collapsed: tall stone slabs that once supported the ceiling are now canted inward by the weight of the earth above and fallen debris is piled in the center of the room. It seems as if the entire chamber could collapse with the slightest disturbance.

In the rubble, barely visible, is the corner of what looks like a large stone chest..

When they entered the chamber Cedric started carefully poking around the rubble that was collapsed over top of the stone chest. The light coming from above was growing a bit dim and he realized it was later in the day than he had thought, but he wasn't ready to call it quits just yet. "What do you think? If we can move some of this off the top, maybe we can get it open?" Already he was picking up a few rocks and moving them out of the way.
The whole northern chamber seemed to rumble slightly with the noise of several tons of stone and earth collapsing somewhere above them, filling the false tomb that had contained the trap. "June!" Cedric yelled, but the levitating woman emerged a few moments later, covered in dust and still carrying a spear.

(Note: Just that single chamber collapsed, nothing else!)

@Lunar ... hope it's okay, but we're going to assume June is following Wimena out of the crawlspace since that was your original intent... :)
@BKburke The sun was low on the horizon by this time and the man Jason approached was a stern, hawkish man, sporting a long mustache and fierce eyes, probably about 50 winters in age. "Not back yet," he answered, pausing his task of stacking wood next to a large brazier to extend a hand toward the newcomer. The village was small enough that the man didn't need to guess that Jason had come from the ship. "I'm Nothan," he said. "The constable and a few others from your ship left this morning to see if they could find the beast's lair." He glanced toward the sun. "I'd expect 'em back soon... at least I hope," he couldn't hide the worry in his voice.
