@Crab... see if you can find out what she's interested in. Then ask her about it. No flirting need be involved to just break the ice. :)

Bio
Long time casual role player who loves tales of adventure! I enjoy tabletop games, play-by-post, and even LARP!
Wild (and sometimes weird) west and medieval fantasy games with an 'old-school' D&D feel are my favorite.
In real life, I'm a software engineer and wanna-be farmer. I have a little garden and some chickens that like to destroy my flower beds. But I like 'em anyway and they all have names. ;) Sometimes they lay me some breakfast.
1 - In tune with magic: Sense magical items and their powers. 2 - Prestidigitation: minor magic tricks and illusions. 3 - Wizard Fire: summon fire (which may be hurled at an enemy) 4 - Magical Shield: when concentrating, can create a magical barrier to protect herself and allies 5 - Archery (the mundane, non-magical skill!)
-Inventory:
* Finely crafted bow & quiver w/ 20 arrows * Backpack with 5 days rations, flint & steel, rope, & bedroll. * Belt with a small knife & waterskin
-Bio?: A minor noble herself, Rowena was treated to the finest education and is still under the tutelage of a privately hired mage. Although she is an apt student, Rowena has yet to test her magic "in the field".
-More info?: Daughter of the emperor's cousin. Extremely loyal.
(If the power level isn't quite right, I don't mind adjusting!)
"I'll keep watch here, at least until you're all safely down," Arnold volunteered, concerned not only about the unconscious and bound men on the roof above, but also of other groups that might still arrive with their own hopes of claiming the Black Pearl.
Tamra nodded her thanks, then proceeded cautiously down the rotted steps until she reached the broken section. She glanced at Ronan as Charlie finished his descent, catching his look of irritation. "I don't think we're in danger yet of running out of time," she ventured, only guessing that the source of his annoyance was the time they had "wasted" looking at the book and the candles.
Once Charlie had made it safely down, Tamra took the rope and started to lower herself rather awkwardly down into the chamber below. "Ooooh!" she cried suddenly as her hand slipped and she started sliding rapidly down the rope.
Melanie took some heart from Marlaka's introduction, her earlier intentions of beating the girl over the head with the branch seemed to be forgotten. "I'm Melanie, a human," she stated to the group, suddenly struck by the shear awesomeness of actually being something of an emissary of the human race. "I'm from a planet called Earth."
Although, her face paled a bit as the blue haired elf (for that's how she thought of him) gave his theory that they were put here as a test of survival. She was no warrior. Heck, she was only a mediocre athlete.

The Galan'terian looked after the Bluestar, but did not immediately follow. "Why split ourselves into groups of two?" But the blue haired alien had already disappeared into the trees.
He looked at the two ... females? At least he thought they were. The one that called herself Melanie was similar enough to himself that he could be reasonably certain. The tree-like creature? He was only about 60% sure.
"And I'm Gerlach, from the Galan'ter race of the planet Akran." He lifted his right hand until it was next to his eye, palm cupped slightly and facing them, a traditional signal of greeting among his people.
"I do suppose he is right that we should survey our surrounding and find food and water." He wiped away the beads of sweat on his brow again, as he began picking up sticks as Bluestar had suggested. "Especially water."

Gerlach looked first at Markala, his light purpl-ish eyes searching her dark ones, completely fascinated by her bark-like skin. "It is the only explanation I have, but I believe it is the right one. Unless, of course, I am dreaming." He paused momentarily. "But I don't think I am."
He glanced at each of the three aliens before him, all seeming to be grasping at any offered explanation. Unless one of them was very good at being deceitful, he didn't think that any of them were responsible for bringing the rest of them here.
"But the question is why, exactly? And why aren't they here?" He looked around at the vibrant trees as he wiped a bit of sweat from his brow, hoping to catch sight of either an envoy sent to greet them or even a group of scientists sent to study them...

Melanie stared at the tree creature for several moments, slowly coming to realize that this creature seemed as confused as herself. "I'm just a girl," she said, slowly lowering her arm as it seemed maybe the tree would not strike her after all. And now that she studied it, she realized it wasn't exactly a tree, but rather some sort of ... person ... who had very bark-like skin and things that looked very much like drooping leaves. A sophisticated ghillie suit perhaps? Yes, that had to be it. She wasn't yet willing to concede that the impossible had happened. "I.. I don't know who Sempara is," she stammered out, thinking the word sounded like someone's name.
She turned as another voice spoke to them and felt a small wave of relief when she saw Bluestar, assuming at first that he was human. It wasn't until he called her 'round ear woman' that she took note of the large pointed ears sticking out of his hair and felt her mouth fall open in surprise yet again. He reminded her instantly of an elf from a fantasy novel. She shook her head at his question, taking the opportunity to scramble to her feet.

"I think I know..." Gerlach offered as he stepped closer to the trio. His pleasantly excited state of mind, as well as his conclusion that he'd been abducted by aliens, allowed him to study the interaction between the others with a calmer state of mind. And by the shocked and confused looks all around, it didn't take long to realize that none of them was the one responsible for transporting them here.
Small beads of sweat formed on his forehead due to the uncomfortably warm climate, but he ignored it.
"We've been brought here by....," the white skinned and white haired young man was going to say 'aliens', but paused a moment as they were all technically aliens now. "... by some kind of beings from another world. Maybe for an experiment. Or maybe simply to make introductions?"

@Ashevelendar Question about the stats... do we just adjust them as we see reasonable? Or will you be saying something like 'subtract a point from Melanie's food'?
I'm off to work... not sure if I'll be able to get in an IC reply before tomorrow.
"It happened! It really happened!" Gerlach whispered to himself, almost excitedly as he sat up, staring in wide-eyed amazement at his surroundings, noting immediately how warm it was and how colorful everything was, almost overloading the senses!
He'd spent so much time reading about and researching alien abductions that he was already convinced that was exactly what had happened. There had even been the small flash of light, the slight tingle of electricity on his skin, and the smell of something almost sickeningly sweet that some of the abductees had mentioned when recalling their own encounters. Never had Gerlach really dared to hope that he might actually be lucky enough to experience it first hand!
"If only Drup and Essa could see this!" he said aloud, thinking of two of his friends that teased him the most about his belief in aliens.
Something moving to his left drew his attention and he looked over curiously, spotting what must be an alien (Bluestar), though it looked nothing like the small purple men with antennas that Gerlach had always imagined. Instead it appeared roughly his size, but with an interesting hue to its skin and the darkest hair Gerlach had ever seen. He scrambled to feet, excitement outweighing fear as he approached, his white form and shirt like a beacon amongst the forest terrain.

Then suddenly she was falling a short distance to the ground, hitting with a thud that didn't really hurt, but left her so startled that she simply laid still for a few long moments, trying to get her bearings. She turned her head to the side, attempting to make sense of the trees surrounding her. But barely had she pushed herself to an elbow when one of the "trees" strode toward her in what Melanie considered a threatening manor.
She recoiled, pushing herself along the ground away from the walking tree. "I... I... I don't know!" she stammered out, holding up one arm in an effort to protect her head, certain the thing was going to strike her.

Background story: Gerlach comes from a line of doctors... 4 generations now, all the way back to his great grandfather who was a surgeon during the Soergel War. Gerlach, however, dreamed of becoming an astronomer, or maybe even an astronaut. He loves the night sky and the stars. And despite some mocking from his friends and his sister, believes strongly in alien life, often spending hours reading scoffed-at 'conspiracy theories' about alien abductions.
Under pressure from his father, he agreed to study medicine and just recently graduated from his medical studies in the city. But during that time, he kept up his amateur astronomy studies and his hobby of researching reported alien encounters. And when time and opportunity could be found, he would even visit the sites where these encounters had supposedly occurred, becoming ever more convinced that aliens were indeed real and had visited Akran.
Personality: Friendly. Patient. Daydreamer. Avoids conflict with others.
