@Crab... see if you can find out what she's interested in. Then ask her about it. No flirting need be involved to just break the ice. :)

Bio

Long time casual role player who loves tales of adventure! I enjoy tabletop games, play-by-post, and even LARP!

Wild (and sometimes weird) west and medieval fantasy games with an 'old-school' D&D feel are my favorite.

In real life, I'm a software engineer and wanna-be farmer. I have a little garden and some chickens that like to destroy my flower beds. But I like 'em anyway and they all have names. ;) Sometimes they lay me some breakfast.

Other hobbies include dog agility and archery.

Sohn took the offered oil lamp in his left hand. In his right, he carried his crook and around his waist was a belt with a coil of rope - in case the girl or the guardsman might have fallen through a rotted out floor - and a knife that was meant more for utility than any notion of defending himself against hostile creatures.

Not that the idea of some sort of creature hadn’t crossed Sohn’s mind. There were plenty of rumors that this place was haunted, which he wasn’t entirely sure that he believed. And he wasn’t entirely sure that he disbelieved either. But if there were dangerous creatures, or even unsavory sorts that might be using the place as an encampment, he trusted his dog Fortuna to alert him.

“Tread lightly,” he advised the others as he stepped across the threshold onto the white tile, Fortuna slinking in at his heels. He held up the light to better see the ∩-shaped room. “We don’t know where this old floor might give way.”

He tapped his shepherd's crook on the floor ahead of him as he moved farther into the foyer to give those behind room to enter, hoping to ensure that the floor was solid before treading toward the red carpet.

He glanced back quickly at his companions in this venture, uncertain if they would prove reliable. Vander, he thought, seemed the most trustworthy of the bunch. Magolor would be good to have around in case the girl had gotten stuck in some tight spot that the rest of them might have trouble accessing. The other two… well, Sohn didn’t trust Eliel as far as he could throw him. He’d found him carrying one of their lambs last spring. Probably to go have himself a nice supper! The youth had insisted otherwise and since it was only Sohn’s word versus Eliel’s word, nothing had been done about the matter other than a stern warning to stay away from their flock. Sohn would not be surprised if the half-elf was only here to find if any riches had been left behind by the Cornwalls! And the woman… she was a mystery. He’d never met her before today.

Hopefully, they could find the mayor’s daughter quickly, before he ever had to find out just how trustworthy (or untrustworthy) his new teammates would be.

“Claribel?” he called the little girl's name just once, then stopped to listen for any return calls. Or any other noises that might indicate they were not alone…

(Edit: fixin' typos.)
@Kelewen i got it to work do i need a "realistic" photo? Or is the one there fine?

Cool. But I'll leave any judgement calls to @Zapdos
@Kelewen it orginally was from pinterest where i saw it should i try that?

You could try! I usually have good luck with Pinterest. Right click, 'Copy Image Address' and hopefully that will give you a url that ends in .jpg, .png, or .gif

Ok how is everyone puting theirs up? I cant figure out what i need to put inbetween the two [image]

Deviant Art doesn't give you a nice, shareable link for bbcode (to discourage doing exactly this. )

So you might have to simply give the URL that we can click on and go look at the Deviant Art page.

Edit: OR put the image up on a different hosting site that allows for bbcode shares. Such as imgbb.com
Anyone like giving some loose character connections? Or do you prefer they not know each other at all? I'm just tossing out some ideas, not trying to set anything in stone:

@Rp4life, perhaps Sohn has met Maglor through the sale of yarn or raw wool?

@Myling, maybe Sohn has encountered Eliel while out herding the flock of sheep? I'd be open to it either being a friendly encounter (Eliel returning a lost lamb) or a hostile one (Sohn catching Eliel nearby and thought him to be a poacher).

@Carmen Sandiego I'm open to something with Sunne too, but don't have any immediate ideas.
Name: Sohn Hirdemann

Sex: Male

Age: 22

Species: Human

Appearance:

Personality:
  • Likes tradition & order, will strive to create order from chaos.
  • Bold - has no trouble assuming the mantel of leadership. Though can sometimes be argumentative if he is not the leader.
  • Honest & hardworking, does not look kindly upon laziness or dishonesty

History: He comes from a whole family of sheep farmers. His mother and his two sisters spin and dye wool for yarn while Sohn and his younger brother and father are the ones to tend to their flock, often spending days or weeks away from home to ensure the health and safety of the flock. They have several dogs that help move the sheep and protect them from thieves & wolves.

Skills: Dog handling & training, sheep husbandry, reading the signs of the weather, basic wound care, staff (informal horsing around with his brother rather than life or death combat)

Other: Sohn's most trusted and smartest dog is a female named Fortuna:

Obviously it just wouldn't be "dog finds the people, the end" but I feel like there's a lot of interesting angles you could use for that kind of character.

I'm cool with sharing control of the dog if you can use him to drive plot.

Wellll.... since it's been so long, I'd say go for it. Maybe someone else will then jump in again? But we need at least 2 players (besides myself) to keep this thing rolling.

For those in the USA, I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
I haven't had a large writing project in awhile, but used Scrivener version... 1? maybe 2? This was a few years ago and I see they are on version 3 now, which I haven't used. But really, really liked it!

If you're just talking about writing RP posts, it might be overkill, but if you're working on a book or other large project, it's nice. :)
