If you're buying "health food bars" make sure you check the sugar content. A little natural sugar is normal, but it ain't heathy if it has 20g added sugar.

Just shout to the heavens "UWOH SEGGS" and wait for divine inspiration. Or your family's disapproval. Whichever gets there first.

I love when I shovel myself out, drive through a snowstorm to get to work on time... and then my boss calls me 5 minutes after when I was supposed to arrive that he's not coming in and to go home...

There was a great benefit to being blindfolded. As much as it kept her from seeing normally, it also kept people from seeing her eyes. Thus, they'd have been unable to see the way her eyes unfocused at the suggestion they were dead. It was indeed a concerning proposition.

Her hand unconsciously went to her ribs where she felt a twinge of pain. Now, she didn't know a lot about being dead, but was she supposed to still feel the pain of the circumstances that had brought her here? She figured just assuming they were dead did them no good. No, it would be better to assume they were alive until further notice. After all, assuming they were already dead could get them actually dead... again assuming they weren't already.

For now, she needed to snap these two out of it. Ovaan especially. Mind you if there were ever a time for hysterics... but it was still not helpful.

She spied Ovaan's tail and took a deep breath... waited for it to sit still for a second... and...

STOMP!

Assuming Ovaan reacted accordingly...

"You felt that did you not? Then let's work under the assumption that, despite being in this strange place, we are well and truly still among the living," Velona told him. "I'm going to say the same applies to you, Miss Mia. So, assuming we are alive, let us first figure out where we are. We can worry about being dead later if we find any actual evidence of that." She crossed her arms, turning her head toward one and then the other as if to make sure they were paying attention.

"Now, while you were panicking, Mr. Ovaan, I believe I heard a rather thunderous commotion. Shall we investigate that next?" She suggested to him. "Why don't you join us, Mia?" She turned back to the girl, as if presuming Ovaan's agreement. "Perhaps we will find a definitive answer there."

I'll have to go to work in about an hour and a half or so, so unless you want my post to be rushed and half-assed, it's gonna have to wait until I get back this evening. xD

Hello darkness my old friend.

Hit > Jiren

Yeah, I said it. Fight me. Hit has a more memorable character design, and a way cooler gimmick for his abilities. Their backstories are roughly equivalent in that neither one of them actually have one, but otherwise yeah: in my mind Hit is an objectively superior character overall.

Nah I agree. Jiren is about as interesting as a brick. Does a lot of damage when it hits someone in the head, but...

Mind you, it was briefly interesting to see such an indomitable character. We hadn't really gotten something quite to that degree before. I mean even UI Omen failed when it showed up the first time. Greatly misused though. Killing was illegal for the tournament and we knew for 100% certain that everyone would survive and Universe 7 wouldn't be erased, at least not permanently. Very little tension as we just waited for Ultra Instinct to finally kick in.

And then they basically just made him Batman or every other superhero with a dead family ever.

Hit didn't really need a backstory. He represented something we'd never really seen before in Dragon Ball, being an assassin with unique abilities and no transformations.

Yeah... like, if I'm Trunks, I'm not even gonna bother waiting for Goku. I'll just fly straight to the Lab and nuke the hell out of it and call it a day. I know I praised Trunks for being the pragmatist earlier, but this was just blatant idiot plot writing by Toriyama. Hmm, it's almost like Time Travel stories tend to be stupid in general and one should probably just avoid them altogether. xD

I. Hate. Time travel.

DBZ makes it slightly more bearable honestly what with the splitting timelines. Removes the issue of paradoxes to a degree, though the splitting brings with it its own chaos.

And yeah... The Black arc was... uuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. It's the arc where I started watching Super and fuck that ending. ToP was a bit of a slog, but damn if the ending wasn't a visual spectacle.

First of all, Krillin is not useless. Don't let TeamFourStar's portrayal of him color your opinions, because in the official material he was doing useful shit even as late as the Cell Arc. Secondly, the only reason Yamcha ended up being useless is because his techniques were designed with DPS in mind which becomes outclasses the second Saiyans are introduced as a concept. Before the Saiyans, Yamcha was actually capable of not only holding his own, but even winning fights as well. It was only the Tournament settings that hit him with the Worf Effect, and that only became worse when the Saiyan Arc started. Also, Toriyama wanted to force Vegeta and Bulma together because he wrote himself into a scenario where only Saiyans could be viable and thus needed a flimsy excuse to introduce another Half-Saiyan character, even if that meant he had to blatantly assassinate Yamcha's entire character to do it (seriously, fuck the retcons that turned Yamcha into a supposed cheating playboy while conveniently ignoring the fact that he spent most of his life terrified of women but also simply wanting to find someone to settle down with). Krillin, Tien, and even Roshi were able to keep some semblance of relevance later on because they had techniques that lent themselves well to playing the Crowd Control role while the Saiyans could draw aggro and do DPS. Fun fact, the Mafuba is the literal only reason Roshi was able to be useful in the slightest during the TOP, while the Solar Flare x100 was meant to be Krillin's justification for being useful there. Tien got totally shafted because frankly the Multiform is a hell of a lot more useful than the series gives it credit for. Yes, you divide your power level, but there is a definite argument to be made for the merit of literally being able to be in 4 different places at once (plus it also would have given Universe 7 extra fighters in the numerical sense since the rules made that Tournament a numbers game in the end).

The non-Saiyans COULD totally stand up to a heavy hitter if they'd just get their acts together and fight like an MMORPG party. Krillin and Tien as Crowd Control, Piccolo as the Tank (Regeneration is hella powerful, yo), and Gohan as the DPS. Together they could totally take Goku or Vegeta on. The problem is that Dragon Ball characters are morons who insist on boiling everything down to one-on-one death matches because honor or some such bullshit. This is why I like Future Trunks so much, he's the only one who realized how stupid that was and thus was willing to just take the fucking win however he could find it.

Yamcha actually used to be my favorite because he had long hair and so did I when I was younger... but then he never fucking did anything in DBZ so I latched onto Gohan instead because as a child I guess I related best to the youngest character.

So... yeah, it might just be bad writing and unfortunate circumstances, but that still means being the "Yamcha" of a group is unfortunate. XD

And I'm fully aware of how ridiculous the cheating thing is. And just in general, for everything DBZ did right, there was a lot of plot induced stupidity used to move the plot along. Like... half the fucking Android/Cell saga, honestly. DBZ really did peak during the Namek saga. Plenty of cool stuff came after that, but as a whole... Namek takes it. Saiyan saga is right up there as well of course.

Funnily enough, Ovaan isn't exactly the big hero he seems to be either. That whole rebellion he led didn't stand that much of a chance at winning, its only trump card was Ovaan's fifth form. There are no Saiyans in that universe, and thus no Super Saiyans either. So now that Ovaan plucked out if there and into a cast that suddenly includes two Super Saiyans? Ovaan is effectively going to be the Piccolo of this cast for quite awhile, only finally catching up to the Saiyans when Golden Form becomes available. Until then, I suspect he'll be sliding into a Captain America role. Not the strongest, probably not the weakest, but the one most capable of taking charge and effectively being the squad leader more often than not.

Hmm, so we have two saiyans, so our Goku and Vegeta. Oni girl is Krillin. Robot man slots nicely in as one of the androids. Heran guy is... uhhh... no idea but pretty strong. Yaksha is also fairly strong so... let's say he's our Tien before Super stole his shoulders.

. . . fuck I'm Yamcha aren't I?
Join the club.

Ovaan merely has to bide his time until he eventually figures out how to go Golden. After that he's basically set for life since to this day Golden Form has shown to be right up there with Super Saiyan Blue on the power scale, and I'd wager someone as tactically minded as Ovaan could use it to fight on par with Blue Evolved as well.

Ah yes, when they decided that Freeza's race should be just like the saiyans he hates so much. Ironic.
Well it seems most of our characters sort of run out of steam when it comes to facing someone as powerful as Cell at the high end of things, while the majority are around final form Freeza's strength at most.

I won't get into specifics here, but... suffice it to say Velona does not fall into either category.
Hmmm, OK fair enough. Your character's bio didn't give much frame of reference for how strong she'd be so I wasn't sure. I hadn't really suggested how strong Velona would be is all, never mind the fact that power level suppression is a common thing in DB. Thanks for clarifying.
