Finally got my post in. Poor Kurai is missing the excitement and Taran just wants to have friends.

Kurai the Sleeping Dragon

"I'll beat you... take that... and that... ROAR!!!" Kurai said as he was talking in his sleep. He was sleeping on one of the branches in a rather large tree just at the edge of the festival. He didn't normally talk in his sleep but this was going to be an interesting day. The festival was going on and he was going to take the opportunity to enjoy it. Even if it wasn't for his guild the festival was something that most could enjoy even if Golem's Hand often showed their disdain for Harpy's Wing with their carnival games. He wasn't even bothered by that. His favorite part of the festival was that it gave him a chance to try and fight Golem Hand's resident Dark Beast Sihu. She wasn't often in town and when she was their guild masters didn't necessarily condone their sparring. Their new one likely wouldn't be any different. So their best time was when everyone was distracted by the festival. If he was excited for this fight why would he be sleeping?

Kurai had just gotten in late the night before after finishing a job. The job wasn't hard but the journey was long and tiring. He wanted to have full energy when he took her on. Down below some kids from the town had different plans for him. Some of them had noticed him and had been trying to throw rocks at him. Up until now they failed miserably mostly because their laughter threw off their throws. Finding and trying to wake up Kurai had become kind of a game for them. You'd find him asleep in the oddest of places. This time it was a bit more normal than usual.

Finally one of the kids seemed like they'd actually accomplish hitting him with a rock. It was a red haired girl. She was about eight, maybe nine at the most. She squinted to make sure her line of sight was perfect and stuck her tongue out as if she was actually testing the wind. She wasn't. She pulled her arm back and launched the rock and it hit Kurai right in the side of his head. He jerked up and yelled before falling over and out of the tree. Most of the kids left but some stayed to make sure he was alright, the girl included. "Ouch. I guess you got me this time. What's the score now?"

The kids shrugged. "We lost count but you're winning." Kurai nodded and said, "Balance is still in order then. I'll see you kids around." He then readjusted his clothes and his sword sheath before heading back into the festival to find some of the others. He hoped he hadn't missed anything exciting.

Taran

Today's the day. It's been about a year since Taran joined the guild and he still didn't really have any friends within it. Though it's all his fault. He finds it difficult to get close to people outside of the circus and he's also plagued himself with job after job after job. He believed that he'd get noticed more by the other wizards in the guild if he came back with constant success. He recently became an A Class wizard because of this. He takes pride in the accomplishment and still hopes that the others would notice and approach him more. Even if they didn't he felt like this festival would be the perfect time for him to get to know the rest of the members in the guild. Or well for them to get to know him. He knows most of the common things about them despite not talking to them much. A trick he picked up from his time in the circus.

He was walking through the festival chewing an apple and carrying around a stuffed tiger he won. It reminded him of one of the tigers back home. Maybe he'd send it back to the circus. He could win more so it wasn't a big deal to him but he was sure they'd appreciate it. Taran's attention was drawn to a small growing crowd of wizards near a bench. He recognized some of them. Mostly the two S Class Wizards of his guild. The others must have been from Harpy's Wing. He knew from his time here that those two guilds didn't necessarily get along. And with gathering numbers this situation could only take one direction. A fight.

He made his way over still chewing on his apple. "Who's on a date?" He asked peering in.

I should be getting a post in, in a few hours. I'm surprised Kurai and Sihu aren't the first ones fighting. Probably wouldn't be a festival without them going at it.

An obstacle course? Could Lang make it any easier for him? The pair-ups seemed mostly random but that didn't matter. It was basically an on the spot decision unless he was secretly planning this all along. Richard was teamed up with Ben and it seemed to be the pairing that would guarantee a win on any obstacle course. They were spiders and Richard's spider sense was perfect for this thing. He was sure he could handle anything the obstacle courses could throw at him and he's been proven right so far. He just hoped Ben's tech based one was good enough. This would be his first time seeing it in action.

He headed over to one of the free arenas and waited for it to start. He didn't know why but he was excited. Maybe it was because it was the first day of school again. Maybe it was the thought of Lang having a few good surprises in store for them that made him excited. Richard pressed the spider emblem on his necklace and watched as it formed his Agent Spider costume around him. He turned to Ben and said, "Let's show them what the spiders can do."

Taran is tall standing at approximately six foot two. He dresses and looks like he appears above except all of his shirts have the guild mark in yellow over his chest since people can't see it on him with his shirt on. He usually wears a bladed chain on his side. It serves two purposes. It tends to fool people into thinking he's a non-mage who just uses chains at his side to fight despite the guild mark on his shirt. And it's a weapon he tends to use when he doesn't want to waste magic or he already has.

Personality:: Taran finds it hard to get close to people. In a world outside of the circus everyone tends to be more "normal" and he finds it hard to open up to them because of that. Once people do get to know him they realize that he's nothing like what they'd imagine a circus performer to act like. He's serious yet gentle to those he considers friends or allies. Despite finding it hard to get close to people he seems to learn about them quickly by just watching them. This started back when he was with the circus. He was told to understand the audience and it was a difficult thing to do when the audience changed every night. This tactic in the circus led to many of the performers improvising their shows to make it more enjoyable for the people. Because of this he found himself to be a near perfect strategist or tactician earning him many successes on his wizard jobs. His ability to learn about people and manipulate a situation in his favor earned him the nickname Ringmaster. Taran is also very loyal person despite leaving the circus to become a wizard. He may not be close to most in the guild but he'd protect them as if he was.

History:: Taran was left behind at the circus when he was a baby. He doesn't know who his parents are and he doesn't care. They never even left him with a last name. Taran was the one thing they left him before they disappeared into the world forever. To him the circus was his family. He grew up in the greatest circus in Fiore and was raised by everyone in the troupe. He didn't have a "single" parent among them. For the first few years after he could walk and talk he wondered what he could do in his future performances. He tried his hand at many things and although he was good at them none of the things that they suggested really spoke out to him.

He almost gave up when he was eight and couldn't find anything until he found some discarded chains. He started playing with them and after some slip ups he picked up on the use of them and came up with an entirely new act for the circus involving chains. When he was ten years old he finally was able to perform in the circus. He was given a bladed chain by the ringmaster and went out to perform. What was the circus without putting a kid's life in danger? His act became a success and one that spread throughout the country of Fiore. A kid wielding a bladed chain in an amazing circus act? That was quite the story.

When Taran was twelve he met a wizard in a town they stopped in. The wizard found him interesting and told him of his magical potential and about magic in general. He immediately thought about using magic to create magical chains but knew that he'd never be able to use them in the show. The reason why their circus was such a hit was because it offered an escape from the world of magic and let people see a world of new wonder. How you could be special and unique without relying on magic. Taran decided to practice magic in secret and found himself to be a natural with it. By the time he was fifteen he discovered that he had an affinity for a second magic. The elemental magic of lightning. He practiced with this magic finding it more difficult than what he was used to but it was also powerful.

When he was eighteen after their last show of the tour he asked the ringmaster if he could leave the circus to pursue a career as a wizard. He had thanked them for all that they did for him and reassured them that he would never forget them. He even reassured them that they could "hire" him for wizard jobs that had him work in some shows. The ringmaster decided to let Taran go and after saying his goodbyes to everyone he set off on his journey.

Through his travels with the circus he had heard of a relatively new guild in the merchant town of Luna Crescente that had a similar view on magic that the circus did. That you could still do a lot without magic but it could also be an extension of what you can do instead of just a crutch to rely on. He decided this was the perfect guild for him and so he's been with the guild since then and increased his rank in the guild through power and job success.

Chain Prison: His chains are mostly used for attacking and grappling but this technique is a bit different. He wraps his target or targets in his chains and restricts them in place. The chains are tight once they constrict around their target. They can be broken free of with enough force or magic.

Chain Drain: This is a technique he can only use once Chain Prison is in effect. He can't use it while simply grappling onto the opponent. After wrapping around and constricting the opponent with Chain Prison Taran can drain mana from his prisoner. The drain isn't fast but it's noticeable. He can use the drained mana to add to his own or replenish it.

Healing Chain: This technique can be used with or without Chain Drain. Using the same manipulation of mana with the technique he can use the drained mana from a target to heal his own wounds as the mana travels back to him. He mostly uses this technique to heal allies though and when he does that he just attaches a chain to their body(usually on the wound) and heals them using the mana within his body. At most it can heal broken bones.

Lightning Bolt: Taran focuses on an area or an opponent and brings down a bolt of lightning. The size and power depends on how much mana he puts into it. For show he can lift his hand and bring it down to symbolize the lightning coming down. It becomes even stronger if it's actually storming.
Electric Shock: Taran aims at an opponent either up close or at a range and sends lightning from his hands to shock them. Weaker than his lightning bolt spell but easier to use in a battle where they're moving around.
Lightning Fist: Taran's hand or hands is covered in electrical energy before he punches the enemy. This can be used with a single punch or a barrage shocking and numbing the struck areas.
Combined Magic: Electric Prison: After using Chain Prison he embues the chains with lightning mana to shock and basically torture the target.

Other

Not well versed in melee combat and uses his speed with lightning to his advantage if it comes to it.
Taran is a master with ranged attacks and a master at using his chains. When he was a kid he dubbed his technique over it Chain Fu.

I finished my Golem's Hand CS and I finally found a name for my Dragon Slayer's dragon so I'll edit that in right in.

I am writing a character for Golem, and so is Lost Destiny. So we should be pretty even in terms of characters. In terms of skills, I'm not too sure. We've got mostly A and S Classes with a couple of B's spread around. I'm not counting Penny at the moment because she's practically useless still coming into her magical potential!
