Terrain: The Californian drought has ended after 'The Great Dying', along with temperature dropping slightly. Rain is not too rare and can get up to an inch per month during hot, summer months, and even up to four inches per month during the other months. The area occupied does not include many major cities, making primals a rare occurrence at best, unless they come down from San Francisco, or up from Los Angeles. Ironfurs and Yetis pose more palpable threats, and defences are more centered around them.
Government Type: Three churches have been constructed across the current territory, and each of them have their own head, a Priest. Priests choose their own heirs from the citizens of the city their church is located. The supreme leader is known as the God-Emperor, and the God-Emperor is elected by the people voting on which Priest they would like as the next God-Emperor.
Capital: Olldar's Landing ; The middle of the coastline of our territory
Head of State: God-Emperor Gabriel Luci ; Luci has a mind set on defense and self-improvement, and has no intentions to seek outward expansion.
Other Important People: Torash Bowgadire: Priest of Santa Maria
Benjamin Kellick: Priest of Monterrey
Derick Zonia: Priest of King City (which has become the major city, besides Olldar's Landing, given it was not hit or near hit, and most infrastructure was intact and useful)
Population: Almost 1.1 million citizens
Attitude Towards Evols: Hated. Evols and other 'Mutateds' are seen as Igtarr's creatures, and are banished outside of the Settlers' borders, or shot on sight.
Economic System: Capitalism/Laissez Fare. The government does not interfere with the economy and encourages the citizens to take action and innovate against the wasteland.
Resources: Timber, Fish, Steel, refurbished electronics (see below).
Currency: Olldar Notes, or just Notes. ON for short.
Technology: Fairly advanced, however without power. We are salvaging electronics to retrofit into makeshift new electronics that are mainly powered by batteries, which are a very precious resource and cannot be produced.
Official Religion: Olldarism
Religious Information:
*Disclaimer: this is not a real cult and any similarities are coincidence*
Olldarism started as a cult, but since The Great Dying has become a somewhat major religion.
Olldarism has ten different gods. They are Olldar (The Creator), Igtarr (God of night), Salaress (Goddess of the sun), Eena (Goddess of time and logic), Dorsi (God of engineering and mechanics), Fin (God of the seas), Tomes (God of greed), Karina (Goddess of misery), Voltin (God of lightning), and Theotar (God of fire). Olldarism is actually just a branch of the Paradon religion. The three branches are Olldarism (Worships the Great Five: Olldar, Salaress, Eena, Dorsi, and Fin), Igtarrism (Worships the Evil Three: Igtarr, Tomes, and Karina), and Neutralism (Worships the Neutral Two, who have considerably less power than the rest: Theotar and Voltin). Feel free anyone else to create nations who worship one of the other branches!
Olldar was the first God, and created the First Five. The First Five consisted of Dorsi, Eena, Fin, Salaress, and Igtarr. Salaress and Igtarr fell in love, and soon had Theotar, the only God born naturally by other Gods. When Igtarr turned evil, he manifested power rivaling Olldar's and created his own Gods, Tomes and Karina. They became the Evil Three. No one quite knows where Voltin came from, although it is known he was born after the world was created, as an immortal tree stands in his birthplace today.
Olldar tasked Dorsi to create the landscape, Eena to create the weather, Fin to create the seas, Salaress to create the lava, and Igtarr to create the caves. Once created, Olldar tasked Dorsi and Eena to create life to populate the land. Eena favored the intelligent and graceful, and wanted to make Elves. Dorsi liked more brutal tactics, and wanted the Elves to be more bloodthirsty, Blood Elves. Eena and Dorsi compromised to create Humans, an equal between the two extremes. After The Great Dying, Igtarr created monsters to withstand the new environments, Primals, Yetis and Ironfurs. He also took the beloved Humans Eena and Dorsi cared for, and made some evil and use the dark forces, the Evols. There have been theories that Voltin came from a different realm, and was a different species from the gods entirely. Search for this realm still continues, although not very actively.
After Igtarr turned evil, his few friends and he went into hiding and scheming, until they finally attacked. Igtarr marched straight to the Palace of Gods and straight-up murdered Fin, who was near the entrance. The Evil Three stormed the palace, killing Dorsi and Eena in the process of isolating Olldar and Salaress in the Throne Room. A large fight occurred between the two, but Igtarr's gang came up on top, and killed the rest of the Great Five. Igtarr, having beat the most powerful forces in the universe, turned on his two partners and slaughtered them to have all the power for himself. Igtarr had unparalleled and uncontested power on Earth and the universe and started his plan. He destroyed the Earth in 2017 trying to eliminate the biggest population centers of 'Humans' of whom he hated. Civilization would not have rose again unless the celestial beings that are the gods are immortal. Eventually Olldar and the rest of the Great Five sparked back to life, and this time the kicked Igtarr out. Or so they thought. Igtarr can still clearly be seen lurking in any shadows, or in the dark times of night. With the resurgence of the Great Five, also came the new lives of the Evil two that had died, and foolishly joined back on the side of Igtarr.
History: Before The Great Dying, the cult of Olldarism had created a floating city. A fortress of technological achievements, a small city designed for up to 10 million people that floated along the waves. It took seven years to complete the entire leviathan, complete with self-sufficiency: farms, clinics, schools, and churches that were worked by passengers/citizens. It was named the USS OLLDAR. The OLLDAR could not move on it's own, though, it required a strong tug boat named the USS FIN to move it around Earth's vast oceans. The OLLDAR started it's maiden voyage on February 20th, 2017. It's purpose was to house the Olldarian believers during the oncoming apocalypse. Whether it was actual foresight or just plain coincidence, the apocalypse happened no more than 2 months after setting sail.
Citizens were prepared for this, and the one million people who were accepted were prepared to make a sturdy floating city/fortress and populate the entire city. Then the tug exploded on August 13th the same year. The people aboard the OLLDAR were shocked and terrified, floating adrift... In the vast sea they once thought of mastering... All alone... No way out...
Life continued in fear aboard the OLLDAR for nearly ten years. During the decade, citizens had to come to peace with some things. They came to peace that there is no escape plan, even if they made a commitment, before there was a chance of returning. Things eased back to normality, nothing much physically changed, just the ever lurking fear of aloneness in the corners of everyone's head. During this time was also when Olldarism became less of a cult and more an established religion with frequent worships.
Then the second disaster. June 19th, 2028 all of the OLLDAR's generators simultaneously malfunctioned and exploded, killing thousands and rendering the city powerless, literally. Now all farms had to be switched to manual, making most of the population farmers, not by choice but by requirement for survival. The God-Emperor government system arrived not long after, making the population almost medieval.
Things continued on for some time, farming being the major occupation. Some blacksmithing started, the first signs of cannibalising the ship was the stripping of metal structure and using to make tools. On October 29th, 2056, land was sighted. Olldar had taken pity on his pilgrims! Olldar and the Great Five were alive and in control again, and this made residents ecstatic and motivated. It took nearly two years to get close to shore, then they started to drift back out. Luckily, the OLLDAR had small propellers with their own batteries for course correction, which they were able to use to push them a little in the direction of the shore and crash land! at least they landed. The people flooded out and started constructing their capital, Olldar's Landing.
After that things went quickly. God-Emperors passed, exploration and expansion happened, and Mutateds were found. Citizens believed they were the spawn of Igtarr and immediately sought to dispose of them from their glorious nation. The OLLDAR started to get stripped to it's bones producing many electronics and lots of steel.
Culture: They HATE Evols and other Mutateds. Very religious, but technologically advanced.
Military Numbers: 20,000-man army size, 10 navy boats constructed from the wreck of the OLLDAR(not powered). Military Units: Riflemen (80%) and Heavy Border Patrol armed with more powerful guns. (All supplied from security offices of the OLLDAR)
@ClocktowerEchos I'm going to work on a small technologically advanced (for these times at least) nation, probably northwest near seattle, but not seattle
Well, I had a pretty nice app made up last night, but with the loss of eastern texas some of my history doesn't fit right, and my computer crashed. I'll probably not bother rewriting my texas and focuse somewhere else.
@ClocktowerEchos Can I claim Texas? I just found this and I would like to use Texas, and I'm happily surprised it hasn't been taken. I'll start working on an app, just wanted to ask if I could just reserve it for now so no one, like, ninjas me and steals it.
