Standing in the hotel lobby, Tony checked his phone again, even though he knew nothing would be there. He had tried to invite his mother and her family to the wedding; he sent invitations, called them, sent texts and emails, did everything short of flying out to Japan himself to get them to come. He wasn't sure how he felt about the lack of response. He knew from the start that they didn't want anything to do with him, they'd completely ostracized him for the last nine years of his life, but what kind of person would he be if he hadn't invited his mother to his wedding?
He locked his phone and put it back in his pocket. Part of him was glad they wouldn't be here; that much baggage and drama would have massively complicated an already crazy day for him. He wanted closure, of course, but he wanted a fresh start even more. With a sigh, he headed off to his room so that he could start getting dressed and ready for the wedding.
