In terms of technology, humanity has the capability to produce a mass of energy weapons (which is more humane compared to the standard ballistics arms) though they are VERY expensive. Railguns are also common, but yet still expensive less so than the energy weapons. Energy wise, there are all kinds available to the Sol System, but hydrogen is what got you guys to the planet in the first place. In terms of FTL there is the experimental prototype that all of you have used, taking only two years to get to the nearest system where you guys are now. Really, there is a lot here but robotics and genetic engineering are very commonly ignored. I would like to leave an open mind to this subject, but if you need some examples lets look at the UNSC from halo and the humans from Mass Effect.
As for the planet, it is largely like earth with a mainly breathable atmosphere at 43% Nitrogen, 24% Oxygen, 23% Sulfur Dioxide, and 10% other gases. It is not recommended to leave without a suit of oxygen due to the Sulfur, but it is to be predicted a human may last for about 3 hours without a suit. They would be able to be out there indefinitely, but the Sulfur Dioxide is a bit of a problem. You guys all know that the lowest temperature on the planet is around -4 degrees C, where the average is 18 degrees C, and the highest being 32 degrees C. The days last about 15 hours and the gravity is about .26 less than that of Earth. It holds a bit more landmass but the planet is overall smaller than Earth.
The fauna is similar to that of Earth with nearly identical copies to Oak Trees, grass, and so on. The fish, however, are seen to be massive (average size is about a school bus large, but there have been guesses that something else may be larger). There are many animals that are comparative to that of Earth, but have been largely undiscovered with only on lifeform being of concern. It is recorded to be a twelve foot tall reptile that is similar to the pterodactyl that is seen in fossil form on earth, except with skin. No one knows if there is sentient life as of yet.
The planet is largely unexplored and it holds many untapped resources, with Earth pretty much on the brink of running out of fossil fuels entirely, but there are the Sol colonies on venus and mars to keep it afloat for now.
