Ultima Online
A Full-Dive VRMMORPG x Dystopian Future Roleplay Based on Pathfinder
The year is 3129, the people of Earth have long-since united under a global flag, dissolving the various first and third world countries and rebuilding as the Global Legion of Humanity. The GLH has normalized much of humanity, including time-keeping, language, cultural and societal structure, and currency. As a result of this unification, the world has reached levels of technological advancement only seen in old science fiction: self-driving cars, cures to almost every disease known to man, affordable travel around the world, interplanetary exploration, and the beginnings of mechanical replacement and/or augmentation of the human body.
Founded in place of modern day New York City and built on top of the United Nations, Prayfell is the "capital" of GLH. Like many cities across the world, Prayfell is at the front lines of humanity's push against the unknown and unachievable, paving way to new discoveries with each passing day. But as they say, "all that glitters is not gold." Each passing day is the same as the day before for the commonwealth of the GLH. Most people live typical lives, nine-to-five jobs, with not a worry or care in the world. Go about your business, keep your head down, and all is well on Earth...
The World of Possibilities: Ultima Online
The legends speak of a being with might greater than the gods, they called it "Ultima." They said that Ultima was the creator of all things, it pulled the very fabric of existence from the Void to forge the universe from nothing... Millennia have passed since Ultima's time, and we live in its wake, surrounded by all things fantastical. Our worlds brim with magic and awe inspiring creatures. But our lands of wizards, knights, kings and dragons is also home to great technologies, psychics, mechanized weaponry, aliens, and inter-dimensional travel, to say the least.
Will you rise to the challenge? Will you find the ultimate source of power: The Ultima Crystal? If so, many will stand by your side, and many more will stand in your way. Do you have what it takes?
Ultima Online is the most advanced full-dive vr game ever created, and is played by billions across the Earth. With an entire world to explore just inside one's gaming helmet, no two players will experience the game the same way. Party up with friends or set out alone as you search for the Ultima Crystal, the one artifact of power that can turn your avatar into a god. The homeland of Avathan is only the beginning of your search, and you'll find plenty to fight, craft, trade, and explore beyond your quest for the crystal. So take a seat, and dive in!
The Player Base, and Economy In Ultima Online, there are monsters and bosses, but there are no NPC's. Every humanoid in every dungeon, shop, castle, arena and otherwise, is another player online. While most players will take the mantle and adventure forth as the heroic warrior, cunning thief or insightful mage, many others will tackle equally important jobs at home. The entire system of quests, economics, politics, and topography is entirely player driven, by those who specialize in crafts, kingdom building, and story-driving. Ultima Online is a sandbox, a blank slate for you to leave your mark on!
Game Engine For the sake of both balance and making Ultima Online feel like an actual game, the in-game avatars your characters create and the world they explore will be made using the Pathfinder Table Top Roleplaying Game.
Where Fact and Fiction Meet: Real-World vs In Game, and the Roleplay
The focal point of Ultima Online is to roleplay not only the adventurers in game, but the person sitting behind the wheel; the player is just as important. At any time, you will be able (and encouraged to) log out of Ultima Online, and experience Prayfell City, possibly meeting with those you've befriended online in the real world. Because of this, two separate CS's will be required to play Ultima Online; one for your actual character in the real word, and one for the avatar they play as online.
For all intents and purposes, your "character" refers to the character that exists outside the game. They are a simple human, living a normal and possibly boring life in the city of Prayfell. Your "avatar" is the entity your character plays as when they log into Ultima Online, who lives an exciting life of adventure (hopefully). Your avatar need not be human, nor do they need to match the gender or personality of your character, but remember that your avatar does not truly have a personality of their own; rather they are a window that your character acts through, just like how you "act" the characters you make for roleplays all over this website.
Character Creation DO NOT POST YOUR CHARACTER ON THE OOC TAB! DO NOT POST YOUR CHARACTER ON THE CHARACTERS TAB UNTIL THEY ARE APPROVED BY ME!!
Owning a Gmail account will make managing your avatar's stats, items and equipment much easier, as their statblock will be hosted through Google Drive. Include your Gmail address if you have one when you PM me (see below).
Applying for and joining this campaign will take the form of two steps. The first is filling out the CS below, and the second will be to fill out your character's avatar's CS and stat block spreadsheet, which I will provide and assist in. But before you grab, fill, and post the CS below, look it over, along with the list of legal races and classes for their avatar, and then shoot me a pm with a rough draft of your CS and a description of what kind of avatar build you want in-game (a knight, an assassin, a mage, a healer, something else?). We can discuss in detail the classes and races that would work for you, and once we iron out the kinks, you'll be allowed to post both your CS's on the Characters Tab.
For your avatar, the following sets of classes and races will be legal for play. Anything not listed isn't strictly banned, but the list presented should be large enough to cover most options and ideas. Don't worry about needing to choose from the lists below just yet, especially if you aren't familiar with Pathfinder's rules, but know that they are here if you want to get a head start on looking through the SRD.

"You're so infuriating, sometimes! Whenever you have time off, all you do is sit in here and stare at it!"
Resting over Hadron-12's hand was a swirling ball of void light, which was the center of his attention as he sat at his desk. Surrounding him were drab walls, a single window that let diminutive amounts of light into the cramped bedchamber, and a crate. A bedchamber only by name. If he didn't need to eat, or sleep, and never had company, what was the point of a bed or other furnishes? This was the exo's mentality as he pivoted his hand away from his face, revealing to him his Ghost. "I'm studying it," he retorted matter-of-factly. The rosy glow from the Ghost angered to a deep bloody aura as he stated this, and its shell shook with a crestfallen slump as the glow dwindled. "Fine, fine. We'll do nothing other than work, all the time. All right?" It asked with a mixture of sarcasm and defeat, to which no response was elicited.
After several long moments of silence, the glow of the Ghost renewed, as it looked off to the side. The shell expanded and flew away, creating the spherical formation used when transmitting radio signals. "Speaking of work," it began. "I'm getting a message, from the Vanguard." The Ghost's body returned to normal as it turned back to the guardian, who clasped his hand closed, dispersing the amethyst pocket of energy. "We're to report to the Commander. Well, at least it's something to do, other than sit in here!" It resolved its news with relief as Hadron rose to his feet, and nodded in playful agreement as they made their way to the Tower.
Actually, a few more questions from you guys before I put it together:
-Should the real-world area be restricted to a singly city? It would be easier for players to meet up or have already known each other. Though having it be an entire country or the world could have its own perks, too.
-How regimented to you want the VR world to be? Should I leave it open, or have systems for classes, races, stats, etc? I'm willing to wave stats for the sake of playing smoothly, but I think we should have classes (and possibly promotions) and races to choose from when filling out the CS's. Everyone's real-world character will probably just be human.
