"No one can escape the fate given to them. All that remains is the end, where you will all perish. Eternal greatness exists only within myself. Sing a song of sorrow in a world where time has vanished."
The desk lady closed the door as she walked back to the desk, her shoes clacking on the bright and shiny tiled floor. "So you're the other new hire, huh? Alright I'll let her know you're here. She should come and get you and the boy here shortly. Probably." She sat back down as she began typing away at her keyboard once more.
Over at the other end of the room, Joshua and Rio looked over at the two new arrivals. There was some sort of black Agumon, but something seemed... different about it. The other was a young... girl? Joshua couldn't quite tell. She seemed awfully young, too. Was she really old enough to be working here? Rio, on the other hand, energetic as ever, was the first to take initiative, hopping off of her seat and making her way over to the nearby duo.
"Hello!" She gave a wave and her best smile. "My name is Rio! And that's my friend Joshua." she pointed over to the shaggy haired boy leaning forward in a nearby seat. He gave a quick, yet somewhat embarrassed wave towards them. "What are your names? Are you guys here for the Union job too? Are we going to work together? Are you guys--" Rio's voice would get cut off as Joshua's voice spoke over her. "Now, now, Rio, it's impolite to go bombarding people with questions like that. Why don't we give them a chance to answer, hmm?" He gestured towards the two.
Appearance: Isaac stands at a tall 6 foot 4, or about 195 cm. He has an overall pretty average build, mostly from a career of pacing around waiting for challengers. He used to take great pride in his golden hair, but over the years he's stopped taking care of it, becoming shaggy, unkempt, and losing most of its previous luster. He typically wears a tank top or T-shirt under a light jacket, accompanied by baggy running pants. He used to have a much more refined dressing style, but nowadays he just grabs the first thing he sees out of his wardrobe.
Age: Isaac is 27 years old.
Personality: Isaac has grown mostly apathetic over his career as the champion, losing interest in many things, and rejecting most forms of public interaction, such as interviews, autographs, or making appearances as big events. On the rare chance you can find him during his daily activities, he is usually unsociable, and can get irritated easily. He does, however, show some signs of life around children, and the occasional young trainer.
History: As a young trainer, Isaac was seen as a prodigy. He blazed his way through trainers at gym leaders alike in just his teens. Before he knew it, he found himself as the new champion of the Johto Reigon.
At first, Isaac enjoyed his new position as champion. All the girls wanted his number, he got to be on TV, he made lots of money, and had the respect of trainers near and far. Isaac knew, however, that this could be taken from him at any time, all it took was one stray challenger to end his time in the spotlight. He couldn't let that happen.
Isaac spent months upon months hand selecting his perfect team, even going so far as to import them as babies from the world's top breeders. He trained day and night, in an almost paranoid mania. Yet at last he was finally done. His perfect team. His position was cemented as champion.
Yet therein lied the problem. Isaac became obsessed with winning. It consumed him. And after a while, he eventually completely burnt out. Battling became a chore, more than anything to him. No trainer he had faced during his time as champion far had posed much of a threat, and with his perfected team, he was practically undefeatable.
He grew reclusive, not wanting to waste his time on people. He grew tired of the interviews, the fangirls, the paparazzi, everything. Luckily for Isaac, he had friends. Namely, the Elite Four. They had noticed that after a decade of being the champ, he had become a mere shell of a man. They needed him to get his fire back. So, they devised a plan: Send Isaac back to the beginning of his journey to try and give him a new perspective of things, and to do so with an up and coming trainer to keep him in check. Or at least, to try and get their lively vigor to rub off on him. A reigon wide drawing was held, and the rest, the say, is history.
Trivia: Isaac's parents moved to Johto from Hoenn, as such, he knows much of their culture, and of the pokemon that go there. He even went there a few times as a child, but hasn't been there since he was champion.
Current team:
Species: Mudkip Ability: Torrent Moves: Tackle, growl Held item: None Nature: Jolly Personality: Anchor is an aloof and merry Mudkip, the polar opposite of Isaac. Trivia: Anchor is capable of eating an entire Tamato berry without flinching.
While he is traveling with Isaac, Kick is not allowed to fight, unless their lives are in danger.
Species: Blaziken Ability:Speed Boost Moves:Swords Dance, Flare Blitz, Thunderpunch, Close Combat Held Item: Blazikenite Nature: Jolly Personality: Kick is almost always out of his pokeball, and a short distance away from him. He tries his best to get Isaac to play with him, but it usually ends up fruitless. It's not uncommon to see Kick in one of Isaac's jackets. Trivia: Kick was Isaac's starter pokemon from way back when. He possesses keen intellect, and is smart enough to understand most human speech. He still has trouble actually saying the words, however.
Tucked away on the eastern coast of Johto lied a sleepy little town known as New Bark Town. Despite this, it was home to a prestigious pokemon professor, Professor Elm. The day seemed like just about any other, the sun shone brightly through the streets, and soft breezes blew threw the trees, rattling leaves, and billowing the occasional set of loose clothing. The weather was warm, the sky was clear, the bird pokemon were singing, and all seemed well in the town.
But out on the edge of town was something different. Something unusual. A tall blonde man stood next to a tree on the road out of town, his jacket getting blown around by the aforementioned breeze. He had a scowl on his face as he scanned his surroundings. People who passed by pointed and talked amongst themselves as they slowly began to realize the man by the tree. It was none other than the reclusive champion, Isaac. Many would also recognize the equally tall Blaziken standing next to him. It was his original partner pokemon, Kick. He was far more sociable than his trainer, and was what most fans of Isaac ended up chatting with, even if Kick couldn't communicate very effectively.
Many kept their distance, whether out of disinterest, fear, respect, spite, it didn't matter much to Isaac. Those who did approach were often turned away by a scornful glare. But as he waited, there was a question on the people's lips: why was he here? What did the champion trainer of Johto want with a little town like this? While the knowledge that Isaac would be taking on the gym challenge yet again was fairly well known at this point, there were little to no details known about where or when his journey would start, or who even won the drawing to travel with him.
"I can't believe I'm actually doing this..." Isaac muttered under his breath as he put his fingers to the bridge of his nose. There was a short squawk of reassurance from the Blaziken next to him as the two continued standing. He had arrived pretty early, mostly just because he had nothing better to do at the time, and as such had been left waiting for over an hour for his "traveling companions". The thought of having to take care of two other people already filled Isaac with annoyance. They were probably too excited for their own good, or were going to bombard him with stupid questions. At least they weren't the paparazzi. Which, strangely enough, he hadn't seen any of here. Was this place too out of the way for them? Were they more focused on the professor that lived here?
It didn't matter much to him. The peace and quiet was nice while it would last, though he knew that at just about any moment it would be ripped away from him. Isaac began tapping his foot impatiently as he waited. If he was lucky, he could just use what was on his original team and blow through all of this in no time, and he could go back home.
