Been on-and-off of the site for a long time. Male, late-twenties. My interests are varied, but steer towards western fantasy and sci-fi. I'm picky with my weeb media.

Just figured that I'd get some clarification, since the way you worded it left for some speculation. And you did say that "If somebody makes a CS for a God that's similar to yours, but better, or more well put together, I'll be picking theirs" which can be taken as 'two people can't have similar Gods'.

Sorry for the confusion

But say person A creates a sheet that is good and is accepted. But then two days later person B creates another sheet for a similar God and Lucian thinks it's better than person A's. What happens? Does person A have to throw out all their work and two days worth of discussing history with the others is completely gone because person B had a better sheet? Possibly screwing up other people's Gods/nations if they came up with a shared history between the two.

There's no reason that people can't have similar gods. That said, if somebody comes along after I've already accepted somebody who has a similar God, I'm not going to suddenly decide somebody isn't accepted. That'd be ridiculous. More likely, I'd tell the newcomer to switch up their idea, or talk it over with the other person.

I meant for actually creating a character that will still be accepted if somebody else comes along with a similar idea.
I never said that I would have to like the character myself, just that the more well put together one would be accepted. I've seen your CS quality, you should be fine.

How "established" will we be at the start of the game? Will we need to build our nations from scratch? Is the world itself practically newborn?

You've been ruling over the lesser beings for hundreds of years. We will all know each other, or at least know of each other as well, so there will be a point after the OOC thread gets started in which we will discuss allies and treaties and wars and such, to flesh out the history of the world together.

Although at this point I would suspect more free-form.

Free-form, yeah. Apologies for not adding that sooner.

Also, I know it's tempting to claim a race in the interest-check, but:

1) You frankly don't know enough about the world yet.

And 2) Claiming a race or idea for your God will be pointless, because this will not be first come, first served. If somebody makes a CS for a God that's similar to yours, but better, or more well put together, I'll be picking theirs. Just keep that in mind.

EDIT: Beginning the OOC now.

I could be interested in this. Been meaning to play a nation RP with a particular faction for quite some time. Is it possible for our deities to be relations or reincarnations of previous, more powerful deities?

That could be a unique aspect of your personal deity. Perhaps it has some sort of messianic reincarnation like Jesus, or maybe a sort of Odinsleep knock-off. Up to you.
Banned for giving a damn.

/\ That's gross.

> I can count the times in my life that I've thrown up on my fingers, and I'm 21. I do everything in my power to avoid it. I have some kind of intense phobia of it, it's terrible.

\/ Thinks I'm really weird.

/\ I respect the flame, but I'm not obsessed with it.

> Hasn't played Team Fortress...

\/ Will scold me, surely.
Hiya' Raineh, Tatsua, and Nex, firstly.

Do the gods that we create have real, tangible effects on our nation's affairs? Would this be more free-form or statistics based?

The Gods will not only have tangible effects, they will actually be physically present. As far as scale of power, try to think less God, and more Greek Demigod heroes, though that won't quite do them justice, and I'd prefer everyone refrained from a Greek motif.

would the gods form the terrain of the land or would the land be fully created and we just pick a region? Edit: also are there like laws where gods cant appear in front of their believers or do anything that directly affects the world, like appear in the middle of a battle and destroy the enemy.

The Gods will not have formed the world, but they were formed with it. Therefore, the world will already have been created, and the Gods will simply have their stake on whatever land suits them. There are no rules about making appearances in front of mortals unless your god has made that law for themselves. And yes, Gods will probably be taking to the battlefield. An army fielding a God would stand at an obvious advantage against an army that wasn't.

Which brings me to my next detail, the Gods will have unique powers, but also universal powers such as improved durability over a mortal, immunity to aging, etc. I'll list all of those in the OOC. However, the Gods will not be impervious to harm. A single God could fell battalions of mortals, but wouldn't necessarily fare so well against an entire army. Depending on the God's unique abilities, it's actually possible for a God to be felled by, say, a really lucky catapult shot. The unique abilities for each God will determine how effective they are in combat. This will be balanced by how effective they are as a leader.

/\ I haven't really had any issues so far, to be honest. I spilled hot ramen on my crotch once. That sucked.

> Still don't like chicken flavoured Ramen.

\/ What's your favourite flavour of ramen?

Games: The Metal Gear Solid series. Fallout, of course. I'd also recommend picking Skyrim up if you have't played the DLC. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver holds up, if you're not a stickler for graphics. Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and the lot are also quite good.

Movies: Not sure what you're into, but I'd suggest Jacob's Ladder, John Dies at the End, and the Man of Steel movie was really good. I'dd also recommend watching (or more likely re-watching) The Matrix trilogy, as that shit remains fucking awesome.

Shows: Try Lost, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, and some of the others you likely hear about a lot. Chances are you hear about them often because they're good. That said, if you watch Supernatural, stop after the first ending. You'll know what I'm talking about.
