The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio
A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.
I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.
Eyes shining, Calliope eagerly awaited the command. What would the students' heroic deed ahead be? Drive away mischievous ghosts? Rescue a missing Pokemon? When Kaizer announced the second years' task, her expression fell.
"Wait... what?" She stood stunned, her peers' footsteps drowning out her murmur. Subdue a Metagross and bring it to a noble as a pet? Against its will? This wasn't the kind of thing the knights in the songs did. Was there more to the situation than Kaizer had said? There had to be. Rallen Knights were known as a force of good. With a sigh, she headed after the other students.
Once she'd gathered a bag of supplies from her dorm - she didn't need to bring weapons, being able to summon them while transformed - she rejoined Kaizer in the courtyard. As he took to the air atop his Charizard, Calliope hopped onto Seraphine's back. "Ready?" With a nod and a chirp, Seraphine spread her fluffy wings and took off.
It was usually a pleasure to fly, to feel the wind against her face as she watched the land spread out below her and Sera, but the task ahead rather dampened Calliope's enjoyment. "Uh, sir?" Steadily catching up with Kaizer, she turned her head. "This Metagross is actively causing trouble and needs to be stopped, right? Or it's lost and lonely, and needs a good home? And what's this noble like?"
Hmm, still not sure which faerie archetype to go with. I'm drawn to either stone or psychic, or something like shadow faerie (teleport through shadows, create temporary doubles of themselves from their shadow, etc). That or a character inspired by the Cait Sith, so enhanced agility/senses, can partially shapeshift to gain feline traits such as claws... I create so many kitty characters it's predictable though xD
"Let's get this over with. Relics won't curate themselves... Well, unless another Yamask got in."
MAIN PROFILE
Name: Allen Martenson
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Hammerlocke
Appearance Information: Stands at 5'11", with an upright posture that adds to his professional air. He keeps his dark hair reasonably neat, and his face clean shaven. Usually wears suits, and his idea of casual clothing is more like smart casual. Much of the time he has a slight frown, as if he's deep in thought.
Personality: Quiet, scholarly and stuck in his ways, Allen values practicality and logic over everything else (or at least claims to). He rarely speaks, unless he has something important to say, or when he's making a snarky remark at someone else's antics. He isn't particularly competitive, only having become a gym leader to satisfy his Pokemon's love of battling. He'd much rather be reading books and drinking tea than climbing the ranks.
What he won't admit, though, is the league challenges rekindle a side of himself he keeps buried. Many a challenger has seen something ignite in his eyes, or a half-smile tug at the corners of his lips as his Pokemon express joy in victory. He tries to get battles done with as quickly as possible, acting like there are more important things to focus on, but from time to time he almost lets himself share in the thrill of competition. He also has more than a passing interest in the events and heroic deeds of legend, despite claiming to prefer facts to fairytales. Usually, it's his Pokemon who see his warmer side, even though many of them frequently get on his last nerve.
Short Biography: Allen never planned to become a gym leader. He never even particularly wanted to get into competitive battling. Events simply happened that way.
It started with his childhood love of history, instilled in him by growing up in Hammerlocke. He and his schoolfriends used to play at being legendary heroes. He'd visit museums with his parents, and stare in awe at the displays. He'd read voraciously about the mythology of the Galar region, wondering how much was fact and how much was fiction. During his teenage years, his passion for learning led his family to enrol him in a prestigious school - which turned out to be a mistake.
The academy's education style was sink or swim. Teachers were quick to criticise, and slow to praise. Wonder was treated as something to outgrow, in favour of proving one's value by competing to see who could memorise the most cold hard facts. And a social life was out of the question. Allen didn't complain. He didn't believe he had the right to, being lucky enough to receive such an education. By the time he graduated, the enthusiastic, myth-loving dreamer he'd once been was gone, replaced with someone who'd lost almost all imagination and curiosity. Keyword being almost.
He took on the orderly job of museum curating, managing collections and exhibitions, yet occasionally he found himself daydreaming about the stories the artifacts told. At home, sometimes he'd watch videos of the medieval reenactments and renaissance fairs he'd once wanted so badly to take part in, telling himself it was for research purposes.
A certain somebody took it upon himself to bring out the side Allen kept repressed. A sword brought into the museum a while back had turned out to be alive - a Honedge. For all the the horror stories about the species, the Honedge played harmless pranks rather than actually hurting anyone, so the staff let him stay. Of course, the uptight Allen became his favourite target. So before long, despite claiming to have no time to be a trainer, Allen had his first Pokemon. A Pokemon who yearned for teammates and competition. The Honedge, who he named Gladius, developed a friendly rivalry with a Meowth, so Allen had his second team member before he knew it. His team filled out from there, and he gave in to their incessant demands to battle, even taking on the league.
Although he didn't win the Champion's Cup, league officials took notice of his skill, informing him of a vacancy in the minor league. He would have turned it down, if not for his Pokemon's enthusiasm about the idea. Unable to deny them the opportunity, he took on the role of Steel type gym leader.

LEAGUE PROFILE
Type Specialty: Steel
League Ranking: Minor League
League Placement: 4th
Gym Location: Hammerlocke
Gym Description: Consists of several rooms containing historical artifacts in display cases (such as relic copper, silver, gold etc) and information plaques. The rooms and cases are reinforced so nothing will get damaged. Near the exit of each room is a small arena and a trainer, who will ask you a question concerning the displays. Those who answer correctly will be able to pass straight through to the next area, while those who answer wrong will have to battle if they want to move forward.
POKEMON
[Pokemon #1]: Bronzong (Targe): Loves attention, and makes attacks as loud and flashy as possible. Will only grudgingly use more practical but less showy moves, and figures out ways to make them impressive. Insists on being sent out first, which is just as well since they know Trick Room. The markings on their body are darker blue than average.
[Pokemon #2]: Ferroseed (Morningstar): Headstrong and determined, Morningstar likes to train on a frequent basis by shooting spikes at targets. If none are provided, she'll choose a target of her own - usually something in Allen's home. Rolls around when particularly stir-crazy, to the point that she has trouble changing course and tends to smash into stuff.
[Pokemon #3]: Escavalier (Ahlspiess): While he plays the honourable knight, Ahlspiess has the occasional tricksy moment, such as stealing food or getting in a sneak attack. Has four red bands on each lance instead of three.
[Pokemon #4]: Copperajah (Pernach): One of Allen's most level-headed Pokemon. He keeps a watchful eye over the rest of the team, trying his best to resolve problems and disputes, with varying levels of success. His tusks are longer than those of most Copperajah. Capable of Gigantamaxing.
[Pokemon #1]: Aegislash (Gladius): Allen's first Pokemon, he takes great delight in annoying his trainer by using his psychic powers to rearrange carefully curated things in the museum. Loves to battle, and tries to get Allen to enjoy it too. Despite being mischievous, he has a surprising sense of honour, refusing to fight notably weaker opponents. The edges of his blade are straight rather than serrated.
[Pokemon #2]: Bisharp (Falchion): A cool and collected Pokemon who observes his opponents in battle, figuring out their weaknesses to use against them. Also likes to find methods of getting his way in everyday situations. Slightly taller than most Bisharp.
[Pokemon #3]: Corviknight (Spadone): This Pokemon's intimidating appearance is at odds with her friendly personality. She's smart and can easily tell when someone's unhappy, doing what she can to cheer them up. Capable of Gigantamaxing.
[Pokemon #4]: Perrserker (Ulfberht): Formerly a feral Meowth who kept seeking out Gladius for sparring sessions, Allen ended up taking him in as his second Pokemon. A grumpy feline who only appears to be happy when he's fighting. When he's annoyed at Allen or one of his teammates, he'll let them know in no uncertain terms. Has multiple scars on his body from his time as a stray, each of which he's proud of.
[Pokemon #5]: Empoleon (Kopis): Haughty and regal, Kopis hates to lose. He doesn't take kindly to anyone who wounds his ego in any way, becoming extremely defensive. Acts like a bossy second-in-command to the rest of Allen's team - which can be a good thing as he keeps the more wayward ones in check.
[Pokemon #6]: Aggron (Brigandine): A feisty and protective Pokemon, Brigandine has claimed the gym as her territory. Woe betide anyone who tries to harm Allen or any of his other Pokemon. She has quite the appetite, and on more than one occasion, Allen has had to stop her from eating priceless ancient metal artifacts.
[Pokemon #1]: Lucario (Akinaka): Acts like the archetypal cocky martial artist, snickering at opponents and showing off her moves. While a good fighter, her overconfidence has cost her a few matches, so Allen now keeps her out of battle much of the time while he tries to help her overcome her attitude problem.
[Pokemon #2]: Bastiodon (Pavise): A lazy Pokemon who likes to eat and sleep, Pavise nonetheless jumps into action if her trainer or teammates are threatened. Her lax attitude is why she doesn't often take part in battles. A little chubbier than most of her species. ...
[Pokemon #1]: Runerigus (Mantlet): Originally a Yamask who got into a clay slab in the museum. Since Allen had become an accomplished trainer by then, naturally it fell to him to subdue the disruptive spirit. Gaining respect for him, the Yamask joined his team. Likes to jumpscare Allen with Phantom Force, to get a rise out of the usually unemotional trainer. ...
Astrid tried to focus on the battle, rather than a nagging worry. "Hmmm... Wasn't Holly supposed to be joining us?" she murmured to Hestia. Being fashionably late wasn't unlike Holly, but she'd missed half the match. Telling herself it was probably nothing, Astrid glanced at the entrance, then back towards the battle, just in time to see Timmy's Dynamax band start glowing. She craned her neck forward. "Looks like our young hero is about to turn the tables!"
Before the Zigzagoon got a chance to Dynamax, however, screams filled the arena as a frantic man burst in. Astrid's stomach dropped. An attack on Postwick? On a quiet, normally low-crime town? "Roger that!" Jumping up from her seat, she hurried after Hestia, who was right on it. "Come on, crewmates!"
Nothing could have prepared her for the scene outside. She stopped in her tracks, mouth open. She'd expected a horde of powerful Pokemon, a few Gigantamaxed ones maybe, but not these... creatures, whatever they were. The beasts snarling in the distance bore a vague resemblance to unusually coloured Arcanines, but as they drew closer, Astrid saw they most certainly weren't. Their faces, contorted with aggression, were those of Nidoqueens and Nidokings. Different species appeared to have somehow been fused together. Beside them, a group of people dressed as if they'd stepped right out of a dystopian cyberpunk show casually strode down the street. "Wow. Is it rich to say someone's been watching too many sci-fi movies?"
The eyes of two creatures locked onto Hestia, who wasted no time in sending out Lazuli. Before the Salamence could land a Dragon Claw, though, one of the hybrids spewed forth a burst of purple flame, outright melting several scales from Lazuli's body. Astrid gaped in horror. She hadn't seen a Pokemon so grievously injured since Pulsar had defended her from that Torracat all those years ago. Her feet seemed to move on their own as she ran to Hestia's side.
"Aries! Eclipse!" Loath as she was to put her companions in harm's way, these thugs and their attack beasts had to be stopped. In two bursts of light, the Ampharos and Rotom appeared. "Ok Aries, Power Gem! Give 'em the pew-pew! Then Light Screen!" Aries stood tall, the orb on his head glowing as he fired a laser beam at one of the hybrids. He spread his arms, a luminous yellow energy field appearing between the gym leaders' Pokemon and those of the attackers to dampen incoming special moves. "Eclipse, Shadow Ball at the other one!" Darting into the air, Eclipse snickered at the opposing Pokemon and lauched a swirling purple sphere.
Astrid cast a frantic look back towards the gym doors. "Mayday! Jennings to Arenas!" she called, adjusting an imaginary telecommunication device. To others, it may look as if she wasn't taking the matter seriously, but keeping up this act even in dire situations gave her a courage boost. "We need some ground types here!" Considering the fire attacks and the venom dripping from their fangs, these Pokemon had to have a significant ground weakness - unless they were absurdly strong enough to bypass type disadvantages. Which, if Lazuli's condition was anything to go by, had more than a slight chance of being the case.
Zircon tried not to wince as Sky said he'd have to drive the carriage. His assertion that it shouldn't be too difficult didn't fill her with confidence - it implied he'd never done this before. Reluctantly, she climbed into the carriage, grimacing when the navigator Juniper asked for directions. "This doesn't exactly bode well for the journey," she whispered to Vyvien.
She was right. She grasped the side of the carriage as it veered and swerved, nearly crashing several times. Not only did Sky clearly have zero driving experience, he treated flirting with the dark fairy as more important than watching where he was going, after having trash-talked the guy's entire people no less.
At least Vyvien had something to focus on, crafting her device despite the adverse conditions. When Vyvien asked everyone to imbue component crystals with magic energy, as well as for their names, Zircon nodded and took one of the marble-like gems. "I'm Zircon," she said simply, the crystal glowing pale blue and turning cold as she channeled magic into it. "Heads up, it's a little chilly." She handed it back, mindful of how easy it was to drop things on this ride, especially if Vyvien got startled at the temperature.
For all her fears of getting lost, by some miracle a green stretch of forest came into view. She sighed in relief as the carriage descended, only to flinch out of the way as the carriage swung dangerously close to the treetops, a branch nearly scratching her face. Leaning to the side, she kept her arms and wings folded close against her body. "Ah! Watch out!" Her heart thumped as Sky narrowly avoided colliding with a group of fairies upon landing.
Exhaling sharply, she climbed out at once. "Well, we made it, against all odds," she muttered, keeping her voice low enough that Sky wouldn't hear. The prince was preoccupied right now anyway, tending to the unicorns he'd well and truly spooked. Craning her neck, Zircon stared up at the giant tree, fists clenched as she hoped against hope Mrs Greypetal could cure the petrified fairies.
"Let's get this over with. Relics won't curate themselves... Well, unless another Yamask got in."
