Nathaniel sat beside Brad, although he had been silent for pretty much the entire class, quickly and furiously taking notes. Growing up, Nathaniel's teachers had already told him to take notes in his own words, but he didn't have time for that. Class was always moving, and he wasn't sure where it was moving, but it was moving, and he wanted to make sure he didn't miss anything. So the easiest thing for him to do, of course, is to just copy down whatever the teacher says or puts on the board without actually thinking about it.

He had quickly written down notes on the basic mechanics of Synchro Summoning, the monster card texts in the demonstration, even the rant on professional dueling. He was just about to start a new section labeled "Drugs" when he realized that the class had taken a rather unexpected turn.

This isn't going to be on the exam, is it?

Shun used RUM's. They most certainly did use spell cards.

EDIT: oh wow. It literally only says it can't be destroyed. The fuck are they going to do if it gets bounced back into the hand or shuffled into the deck?

Well, Speed Worlds were just straight-up was not affected by other card effects in the World Championship series.

Like, you play Giant Trunade and it bounces every card except Speed World. They also could not be targeted.

But yeah, in that case the Neo text is just redundant.

Funny you mention. I'm actually unsure whether to use either of the main SW's, or a new one.

We never did get the effect for Speed World - Neo. They never even used a Spell Card in the one duel it showed up in.
@1Charak2 Shit, I just realized you have no normal monsters. Uh. This is awkward.

There aren't any ritual spells other than Advanced Ritual art that would actually allow you to summon your Doriado... And I can't really give you another speed spell either. SHIT.

At least it's fodder for Speed World 2?
Nathaniel turned to look at the door. The room number seemed to match the room number given by the Transceiver, so Nathaniel answered accordingly.

"Yeah, I think so."

Walking towards the door, he gripped the handle firmly and gave it a good pull. Looking inside, he saw that the room was painted a bright green, and the Synchro Rings dangling from the ceiling like chandeliers looked just like the ones he had seen on television. If this was not a classroom dedicated to the art of Synchro Summoning, then there would not be another room in the world that qualified. If not the lecture, then Nathaniel could at least find the very room itself to be interesting. In any case, if he wasn't before, he was definitely in the mood to see some Synchros now.

"After you." He said to Brad, holding the door open and gesturing for him to enter.
"Yeah, talk to you later." Nathaniel said as Haas bolted off, surging with energy. Watching him so full of vim and vigor, Nathaniel thought the kid would make a pretty good Action Duelist, especially since he seemed to be into the whole entertainment thing. He used Wind-Ups too, which was popular with many audiences.

Still, it was strange. He said he was there yesterday when Nathaniel was dueling, which probably meant he was in the Action Dueling class, but Nathaniel didn't even notice him. The guy seemed so spirited, Nathaniel thought he would be pretty hard to miss. Or maybe Nathaniel's sense of observation was off. He should probably be more aware of what and who is around him from now on.

With that in mind, he took out his Transceiver to check his classes. Synchro Summoning. Speaking of which, looks like Haas was in that class as well. Frankly, if Synchro class is anything like Fusion class yesterday, then Nathanie was not looking forward to it. The material felt so basic that Nathaniel couldn't keep his interest. Still, it was only the first day of classes. Maybe the coursework will pick up and Nathaniel can find something that he can really sink his teeth into. Regardless, he had it today, which meant he has to go. So tucking his Transceiver back into his pocket, he stood up and took off.

On his way to class, he noticed a familiar face. "Oh, hey Brad."

Looking at the guy's face, he seemed to have had quite a workout. He was dripping with sweat, and his breathing was heavy and quick. It was quite the reversal compared to when they first met each other last night.
Megan's gonna want a rematch with Nate with her new cards but that can wait until after classes.

Nathaniel doesn't really mind a rematch, but I feel having one immediately after the last duel kind of gives up a lot of storytelling power. Maybe give each character some time so that when they duel again, they can show each other what they've learned.
It seems most of us are just twiddling our thumbs, so maybe give people one more day to finish what they need to finish, and then move on after that.
Looking up from his cereal at Haas's words, Nathaniel saw that his new buddy was playing Wind-Ups, at which Nathaniel gave a small smile. Wind-Ups were pretty cute, but they could also be very strong. Plus, it seemed Haas was really having fun with them, which was what really mattered in the end.

As Nathaniel prepared to pull a card from his deck to show to the table, a girl...? Yep, voice suggests girl. A girl, who Nathaniel thought looked actually somewhat familiar but couldn't quite put his finger on why, came from out of nowhere to take their silver-haired acquaintance away. Nathaniel wished he could say he was upset as he watched the two head out somewhere, but he was actually kind of relieved. That girl had such a negative aura around her. It really gave him the heebie-jeebies. Still, he can't help but wonder with a look of confusion on his face what that was all about. This was a weird morning.

"Oooooooookay."

Nathaniel then remembered that he still had a card in his hand, and he put it face-up on the table for Haas to see. It was the top card of his deck, which not-so-coincidentally also happened to be the newest addition to his deck as well: Performapal Rain Goat.

"So you run Wind-Ups, eh? Well, I run Performapals. Let's just say I know my way around a performance with these guys, if you know what I mean." Nathaniel said with a wink.
Nathaniel could only stare in wide-eyed shock as the boy in front of him proceeded to choke himself on his cereal. Nathaniel thought he looked pretty sad before, but he had no idea the kid had it this bad. He raised an eyebrow in uncertainty as the kid appeared to finally pull himself together, and he seemed to go by the name Haas. Clearing his throat, Nathaniel decided to respond to his introduction in kind.

"I'm Nathaniel. We're both in Earth, so we might have passed-."

Suddenly, Nathaniel's new acquaintance pointed to something behind him. Turning in the direction Haas was pointing, Nathaniel saw a girl with silver hair. The first thing Nathaniel noticed was that she seemed to be an Earth dormer like himself. The second thing he noticed was that she was extremely pissed off. That was... unpleasant. As Haas got up to speak to her, Nathaniel could not help but raise some objections.

"Wait, Haas. I don't think that's such a good- Haas? Haas!"

With a sigh, Nathaniel turned back to pick up his spoon... and then promptly put it down again as he put his face into his hands. That girl looked about as much fun to be around as an angry hornet's nest. He called himself an entertainer, but around people like that, Nathaniel was less than effective, to say the least. As Haas came back, Nathaniel could only give a weak wave in greeting.

"Sorry, I kinda get excited when I see people."

"Yeah, I'll say." Nathaniel muttered. He had certainly proved it by almost choking to death when Nathaniel greeted him earlier.

As Tsukiko came to sit with them, there was just... silence. After taking a look at the two others beside him, Nathaniel went back to mechanically eating his cereal. There were probably a lot of phrases to describe the situation he was in now, but the only one Nathaniel could think of at the moment was "very awkward".
