Name: Aari Campbell Gender: Non-binary, but begrudgingly accepts masculine pronouns. Background: Aari was a young man when he moved to Indonesia for to enroll in one of the many medical schools there. At the time time, 2053, Indonesia was a rich, powerful country and he enjoyed his days exploring the city, meeting other students, and studying what he felt was his calling. In 2065 the war occurred and Aari, a surgical nurse, was transferred to a military base to treat soldiers. These following years took a toll on Aari's young mind as he encountered violence, gore, and worse. In those years Aari hit lows, and drugs became a solace, mostly stolen prescription pills and cocaine. When Aari was relieved of duty he did not continue his contract with the military, but it hardly mattered. Two years later the war would end, and his addiction to drugs grew. As his life slipped into a cycle of debauchery and hedonism, his focus on work and school slipped. Eventually, he would lose his license to work when a fellow nurse caught him stealing pills.
Aari's drug debt piled up quickly and after a violent shootout, the Cobras came for him. They beat him senselessly and narrowly he avoided a gruesome death when he convinced them he could be of use. Aari now takes care of the wounded criminals and mobsters the Cobras employ. Bound by his debts, his fears, and his desires, he remains loyal to the Cobras and he been a major asset to the leaders. He keeps their men healthy and alive, installs cybernetics, and has been teaching others to do the same.
Please put it at the characther section. But good oneđź‘Ť
he 2070s and 2080s were the period in time where China commences a decades long operation popularly known as 'Pacification Missions'. These are essentially brutal military occupations of Southeast Asian countries and generally has resulted in some form of local backlash followed by brutal military crackdown, which can lead to even more backlash, leading to a sort of repeating cycle until one side breaks.
Some Pacification Missions were successful, such as the ones conducted in Vietnam and Malaysia. The military commander in charge of the region were wise enough that constant cracking down was ineffective, and essentially propped up a Puppet Government that are legitimate enough in the eyes of the population so that effective Chinese rule can be maintained, others, such as the case in Singapore, Cambodia and Indonesia, almost led to a total collapse of the Chinese presence there.
For Indonesia in particular, beating down a stumbling giant that was once the 4th largest economy proved to be an unenviable task. Resistance from the various University students, Indonesian military remnants, and Islamists (which may or may not be funded by weapons and resources smuggled from Australia) essentially led to the Chinese having to force itself to occupy only a small enclave of major cities, while the Indonesian countryside were left to their own devices. Historians were quick to note the parallels to the Japanese invasion of China during World War 2 effectively leading to a similar situation. While major cities were under control, the military could not get the countryside to bend the knee and accept rule under a foreign power.
In the case for Jakarta, pacifying such a a large metropolitan area is impossible, there are too many military installations that the locals can loot, and the University of Indonesia complex is more than happy to made new ammunition, weapons, and spare parts should resistance forces run low on supplies. Repeated Chinese attempts to destroy the University of Indonesia were failures, partly to the militarization of the Complex, and, during that one time where China tried sending in long range strategic bombers and ballistic missiles, were shot down by US Fighter Jets over the South China Sea. That period in 2083 led to a crisis and nearly caused a Second Continental War, whose escalation was only stopped when China signed an MOU stating that they would occupy only the northern part of Jakarta, cooperating with the rogue governor there.
The signing of the MOU led to a period of detente within the Chinese occupation, with curfews being lifted and locals free about to mingle with other Indonesians outside Chinese controlled areas. Still, this is a deeply unsatisfying status quo for everyone involved, and by 2095. Patience, whether that be on the Chinese side, the various factions vying for control for Jakarta's side, and really any power that has an interest in Indonesia, are running low. Jakarta is a ticking time bomb, almost ready to explode.
The 2010s to the 2050s are generally regarded by historians as the decades where Indonesia became a major world power. A dominant military force in Southeast Asia and Asia in general, persistent economic growth as well as relatively stable leadership, a strong civic society and well maintained democratic institutions means that Indonesia was able to become the 4th largest economy in the world by 2050. Only behind major powers such as India, China and the United States.
This period of rapid economic growth, although generally beneficial for everyone, was overshadowed by trends all over the continent, increasing militarism and nationalism on countries such as China, Pakistan, India and the Koreas meant that some form of conflict will brew in the future, and it all blew up in the great continental war. Occurring from the years of 2065 to 2070. The war involved practically every major country in Asia save for the middle east and central Asia, with both Russia and the United States joining in.
With China, North Korea, Laos, Myanmar, Pakistan, Laos and Cambodia on one side, against the United States, India, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia on the other. The war has a combined casualty list slightly greater than that of the 2nd World War, with Asia as a whole destroyed, and the treaty of Hanoi marking the end of the conflict.
Major changes include the dissolution of North Korea and Pakistan as sovereign states, China recognizing the independence of Taiwan while in return, were given a 'sphere of influence that includes Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. The war was generally regarded as a slight Chinese victory, but several experts say that this war is only a prelude for a bigger conflict in the future, since none of the fundamental grievances of multiple states were addressed.
For the Chinese, victory, if it can be called that, felt incredibly hollow. Sure, they now have practically all of Southeast Asia under their thumb, they are the pre-eminent power in the Asian continent, and the United States was left reeling with a massive casualty list and a recession, but North Korea and Pakistan was dissolved as allies, and while the Chinese economy boomed, that boom was overshadowed by it's massive commitments in pacifying Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Indonesia in particular is being seen more and more as a black hole of funds.
For the United States, the reaction of more mixed but nonetheless, this unclear defeat left the government unstable, with multiple Constitutional Amendments and a revolving door of political leaders following suit. The average term of an American President post 2070 is 3 years, with Presidential Impeachments, then impossible, now being done on the regular. Still, India, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines are still allied with American interests, and the American economy slowly recovered, with the help of foreign investment, and relatively good fiscal policies through the 2070s and 2080s.
Nonetheless, the massive war casualty list and the breaking of American pride left much of the American populace wanting, and the desire to have a second go against China is a very strong sentiment held by the American people.
Still, out of all the losers in the Great Continental War, none were bigger than Indonesia, the Indonesian military, then the pride of Southeast Asia and seen as a serious enemy should some major war occur in the 21st century, were left as a shell of it's former glory. The Indonesian government evacuated to Kalimantan while the rest of the country collapses into infighting and anarchy, even parts of the country that were thought of as 'integrated', such as Papua, effectively became independent states, still aligning with China out of necessity, but an independent nation state in every other right.
For Indonesians, the 2070s and 2080s will be seen as the 'Time of Trials, or Zaman Pencobaan. As millions more Indonesians would die in the ensuing infighting, religious riots, terroristic attacks, not to mention the incoming Chinese Occupation. The future has never been darker for the country, and it's only just beginning.

1. FPI : an Indonesian Hardline Islamic Organization founded in 1998 by Muhammad Rizieq Shihab, an Indonesian hardline Islamist Scholar. This Organization was known of his vigilante activities and illegal raids against any activity that perceived to be disrespectful to Islam, such as Alcohol store, Night Clubs and many more. Allegedly, FPI also taken illegal tax from company and factory and also asking money for protection in several Night Clubs in Jakarta. Leaded by Rizieq Shihab until his arrest in 2021, the organization was succeeded by his right hand, Ahmad Shabri Lubis. During the collapse of Indonesian Goverment, FPI managed to released Muhammad Rizieq Shihab from custody. From his base in Petamburan, Rizieq declares the formation of Islamic Republic of Indonesia. FPI was funded by extortion, Alcohol sale, and illegal raids. Their unity relies heavily on the leadership of Muhammad Rizieq Shihab, frequently in conflict with the Cobras. Only time tell whether Rizieq will managed to unite Jakarta before his death or no 2. Halim Defense Forces: After the collapse of Indonesian Goverment, almost all Air Forces Assets were evacuated into the newly established capital in Kalimantan. Some remaining members of the Air Force though, decided to stay and defend the Halim Air Base, the only major Airbase in the city. After successfully defending the base from mobs, Chinese incursion, and Cobra attacks, the remaining staff foounded the Halim Defense Forces, formed in order to protect and govern the territory of Halim and It’s surrounding areas. They are funded mostly by smuggling and sometimes by transporting passengers who wants to be evacuated from Jakarta. The only Indonesian Faction that have access to planes, they will play a vital role should a reunification campaign commences. 3. The Jakartan Salvation Goverment: After the Collapse of the Indonesian Goverment, the Governor of Jakarta immediately declared himself free from obligation of Loyalty to the Indonesian Goverment and declaring Martial Law thorough Jakarta region. Very ruthless and tyrannical, the governor is gaining a lot of enemies, especially inside of his administration. To secure his power, he makes two crucial alliances, one with the FPI, and secondly with the Chinese expeditionary forces. Governing the north of the city, essentially the only part of the city that has been spared from any form of destruction and underdevelopment. Time will tell if the governor’s tyrannical rule will last. 4. United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Jakarta: A UN task Force lead by a British General, it was formed in the year of 2076. Due to US Economic Recession and NATO Collapse, the Mission now only consisted of the UK, Brazil, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, and South Korea. Due to the instability of Jakarta region, the Task Force was only able to secure two areas, Soekarno Hatta International Airport, and the port of Sunda Kelapa. Physically separated into two regions, and with only limited funding, many doubted the task forces’ ability to secure the region 5. The Cobras: After the Collapse, many criminal gangs fought each other for control of the streets of Jakarta. To end the bloodbath, all gang leaders decided to pool their resources and choose a leader that will coordinate operations, ensuring minimal intergang violence. All gang leaders agreed to choose Husein, an ex Kalijodo mobster turned Coffee Shop owner. Once elected, Husein quickly concentrated it's power in Kalijodo. Kalijodo, once a demolished village, now quickly becoming one of the biggest gambling and prostitution hubs in Asia. Also turning Kalijodo into Asia’s Number 1 Drug Facility. Should his reign go unchecked, many agreed that the Cobras will become one of the strongest Faction in Jakarta. If they are able to reunify the city, the citizens of Jakarta will experience hell like never before. 6. Emergency Goverment of Jakarta: Consisted of member of the National Police Headquarters and the Jakarta Regional Police Headquarters member who doesn't get evacuated in time by the goverment, they are acted as the temporary goverment of Jakarta after the Governor betrayal. Supported by the Indonesian Goverment and the UN, making them one of the most viable contenders in the unification of Jakarta. Right now they are busy on keeping order in their territory, due to the rise of criminal activity by armed gang, the Cobras, and the FPI. 7. Chinese Expeditionary Forces: After the Collapse, the Chinese Goverment rapidly capitalizes it’s gains, seeing a good opportunity to establish a friendly government over Indonesia. At first, momentum was on their side, securing large amounts of territory over Indonesia. But, like what happen to the UN task forces, the Expeditionary Forces cannot secure more region and got stuck, forcing themselves to ally with the Governor of Jakarta in the meantime. They are receiving funding from the Chinese Goverment, although there are rumours saying that China is in a verge of Civil War. Hated by the locals, due to their ruthlessness and their incompetence on keeping peace in the region, only time tell whether they would succeed on their mission or not. 8. The Student Council: In the midst of collapse of the goverment, the Student Council from all Universities in Jakarta decided to formed a temporary Goverment in order to restore authority in Jakarta until the Government’s return. They are scattered across Jakarta, making coordination really hard. They are receiving aid from the UN and the government. Scientifically the most advanced Faction in Jakarta, what will happen if they managed to unite Jakarta? 9. Embassy Protection Force: After the Collapse, most of Western expatriate evacuate themselves from Jakarta. But due to the US Economic recession, most of US expatriate doesn't get evacuated by US government. So they teamed up with the few remaining expatriate and forming the Embassy Protection Force, based on the US and UK embassy. Heavily relied on UN aid, and the only real faction that can contact Washington DC, their only objective is to seek a way home, AT ANY COST 10. Armed Forces Movement: During the riot prior the collapse, the succesor of the late president tasked General Subagyo to restoring order in Jakarta region. But, he has other plan in his mind. Contacted by Chinese Agent from the MSS, Subagyo agreed to rebel against the government and restore order under the Chinese Command in exchange of money. Then, he declared a motion of disloyalty against the government. His troops quickly attacked remaining soldiers that are still loyal to the government. Than, in a unexpected turn of events, the Chinese sent a drone to eliminate him, only to kill his wife and children. In revenge, he order to put all Chinese Indonesians into Prison and Labour Camps. Currently the strongest Faction in terms of military capability, and the only real rival to the Chinese Expeditionary forces. Only God knows what will happen to the Chinese Indonesians in Jakarta should he be successful. 11. Islamic States of Java and Sumatra: After the Collapse, many jihadist seen Indonesia as a new Jihad Ground after the destruction of ISIS and Abu Sayyaf. Their base usually located on the abandoned skyscraper where no one would bother to find them. They are funded by Narcotics, Human Trafficking and illegal taxes. They are gaining new recruits every day due to the massive propaganda in social media. Determined to cleanse and unite Jakarta under the name of Allah, will they achieved what Baghdadi cannot do?
