Rhys grinned as soon as the door opened. “Jasmine, so glad to see you’re already here.” he stepped inside and made a beeline to the first empty surface he saw. “I got it, I have to get my daily arm workout, right?” That was a lie, Rhys did not work out on the daily. In fact, he barely did so. Only when Liliana dragged him out of bed in the mornings to the gym, her pilates class, did he work out. In all honestly, he had been blessed with the metabolism of the gods. Which he was grateful for, with all the sitting he did trying to rack his brain for any idea worth writing for.
“You’re just weak.” He heard his roommate whisper a tease as she walked past him and offered Jasmine his bag of soju.
Rhys rolled his eyes at Liliana, shimming his arms to remove any tension. He let Liliana wander around the apartment as he shot Christian a grin, “Hey man, thank you for hosting for tonight. The whole floor has been smelling so good since the morning, I can’t wait to eat finally. Practically starved myself the whole day.”
On the other side of the table, Liliana greeted Sadie, a fellow party connoisseur, and her roommate Ember. Rhys had talked about Ember before, about how she had practically run him over with her bike and then… Lili didn’t remember much of what Rhys had said after that. She had been too focused on figuring out how someone practically ran someone over without them actually running them over. No matter how hard she tried, she could not picture it. A hovering bike, maybe?
“Call me Liliana or Lili,” Liliana’s default smile surfaced, “Angel is my stage name, but you can call me that too.” She shrugged; she’d never been picky about what others called her anyway. “I’m getting something to drink; I’ll see you around.” She smiled again at Ember and Sadie before leaving for the bar.
Once at the makeshift bar that was one of Christian’s countertops, she poured some of the set-aside orange juice and tequila into the classic red cups. Well, more like poured an essence of orange juice into the cup of tequila. She had to take advantage of the empty stomach before digging into that delicious mouth-water food.
“Fuck, I’m so hungry.”
