The ooc is up! Feel free to head on over
Name: Louis Carkaroff "Doc Lou"
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Role: Doctor

Specialty:
Anatomy, Surgeon, Wounds

Personality:
Doc Lou comes across as the silent type at first, he's often found with his nose in a book, however, once you get to know him, he can open up. When duty calls, he's always ready and despite his stand offish behavior, he will do anything to help someone in need. He enjoys watching others, choosing to observe more than participate. Occasionally, he finds himself longing for companionship, and he will sometimes find one or two people that he really hits it off with - and he'll usually be found amongst them more often than anyone else.

Appearance:

Other:
Doc Lou spent a good portion of his life struggling between dedicating his time to helping people or animals - he settled on becoming a surgeon to help people, but he still keeps his loyal dog - Molly - an intelligent Golden Retriever, who follows Lou almost everywhere.

History:
Doc Lou was born to an extremely well off family and was afforded many luxuries that other's simply couldn't afford. His childhood saw him grow extremely shallow and short sighted, completely unaware of the struggles of others. He was given private tutors and the best education money could buy, and discovered that he had a great love of books and knowledge. He was fifteen when his books could no longer curve his curiosity and he longed to explore the world. His father encouraged this behavior, saying that it would help him grow as a man, while his mother insisted that he stay home. Ultimately, he decided that it was more important to see what the world held, and it was this that changed his outlook on life. He traveled abroad, meeting a young woman by the name of Lydia Hatch - a very strange, but vibrant woman who grew up in what Lou would have considered the worst possible life - No family, and hopping from town to town since she was twelve. At first, this idea sounded foreign and he rejected the idea, but soon realized that Lydia had more life experience in just those two, short years, than he could ever hope while living the way he did.

Lydia was like nothing he had ever met in a woman, and this enticed him. There was a point, in which, he was ready to return home, while she continued her travels. During this time with her, she pointed out all of the good that the two of them could do for those less fortunate than themselves. She taught him the power of empathy, and shared her love of animals. Lou asked her to join him, to come home with him where the two could continue doing good together, but Lydia refused, not willing to be tied down in any way and the two finally parted ways. Lou was ready to return home, his view on the world different than it ever had been and continued his schooling eagerly. Over the years, he wrote to Lydia, telling her about all of his accomplishments and owing his willingness to help others to her. Eventually he continued his studies into medical and got a job in a mining town in Arizona. There he saw injuries like he never had before and eventually got called to another, more prestigious hospital on the other coastline, in New York. He continued to write to Lydia through all this, before at last her responses stopped coming - the last letter he sent was returned to him with a stamp saying "return to sender".

Eventually, he decided to look for Lydia, spending a large amount of his savings, moving from city to city, looking for any sign of her - before at last, he discovered the terrible truth - her death. Finding it difficult to return to the same life as before, he bargained passage on a ship, offering his services in exchange. He continued this way of life until getting a telegram from his father with the news that his mother had passed, he returned to say his final goodbye, and decided to take this opportunity to work in a stable hospital again. Intuition often lead him through some of the most complicated situations, and his success rate was higher than most, but even he couldn't save everybody, and at some point, the death toll grew to be too much. The last patient he lost was an older man who insisted on having his young Golden Retriever pup with him before he passed. Doc Lou had bypassed the hospital protocol and allowed the pup, who the old man called Molly. There was nothing he could do to help the poor man, but he seemed to know that it was his time and he asked Doc to take the pup and keep her as his own. It was his dying wish, and so, he took Molly and has kept her ever since. Once more, he left the hospital and hadn't been looking for employment again before being called upon for a very special mission - he probably wouldn't have agreed, had the man who asked not been the exact man who he had taken passage with before - with the same crew.

Accepted!
Well, here she is. Didn't take me as long as I thought, I kind of got on a roll in my opinion. Let me know if there's anything I need to change, add, or edit, or whatever. I based her on Milo Thatch of course and gave her a similar personality so she can fit the same role in the crew as Milo did in the movies. Obviously a cartographer who's just in it for the money means there's literally no conflict in the movie since that's the prevailing attitude of most of the crew, I imagine, lol. So yeah let me know what you think!

Name: Sasha Belov
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Nationality: Russian
Role: Mercenary

Specialty: Being a gym rat. Sasha excels at hand to hand combat, if not just by brute strength alone. He is, however, genuinely skilled at fighting. He's got a right hook like a freight train.

Personality:

Intense and driven, Sasha is not a guy you want to make an enemy of. He's intelligent, level headed, collected, and when he sees fit, cold. With the determination of a true soldier, Sasha will stop at nothing to complete a task he's set his mind to. His sheer will and tenacity make him a valuable ally.

But, despite being gun-for-hire, Sasha is far from evil. His softer side isn't something many people get to see. For one, he doesn't have many people to show it to, outside of his very small friend circle. He's generally quiet and reserved in unfamiliar settings, afraid of getting too close to other people, lest he be jaded. But when he's decided that you're his friend, a warmer, gentler giant begins to emerge.

Appearance:

Sasha is a very large, muscular man. He stands at six foot seven, has pale skin and dirty blonde hair that is kept in a neat buzz cut. His eyes are a gray-ish blue, and cold in appearance. They go just right with his perpetual frown. Sasha has several tattoos. His most notable tattoos are a compass that points West on his left chest, and a line of words in Russian on his arm. The words are now difficult to read due to a thin, raised scar that runs right through the middle of them.

His wardrobe matches the rest of him: drab and lacking imagination. He sports army green tank tops, cargo pants, boots, and similar attire. His go-to colors seem to be dull green, tan, black, and brown.

Other: Sasha speaks with a Russian accent. He speaks several European languages fluently, Russian and English being his best of course.

History:

Sasha grew up in Kazan, Russia. He was born to a desperately poor family in the slums. His mother was a seamstress who worked long hours, and his father was a former soldier, now a notorious alcoholic with intense PTSD. Sasha grew up seeing little good in the world, and eventually grew a bleak outlook on life. To him it was clear that he'd never make something of himself without stepping on a few toes. So step he did.

He joined the ground forces as soon as he could. At age 14, he was big enough to pass as a young adult, and given the political turmoil the country was facing, the recruiters didn't care to double check. He left home and never looked back. Sasha earned a name for himself, climbed in rank, achieving 2nd Lieutenant before he met a recruiter for a mercenary organization. He wasn't particularly patriotic, so the idea of abandoning his homeland for money and travel was a no-brainer.

Sasha stayed in and out of trouble for several years, but always kept the reputation of a hard worker and valuable soldier. He eventually started working for our Commander as part of his private militia. When the Commander, and his mercenaries, were hired by Whitmore as a protection detail for the explorers, Sasha came with them.

He's not overly hopeful to find anything down at the bottom of the sea. Sasha is more interested in the handsome payday that waits for them when they re-surface.

History:

"Your grandpa was a great man. You probably don't realize how great. Those buffoons at the museum...dragged him down, made a laughing stock of him. He died a broken man. If I could bring back just one shred of proof...that'd be enough for me." - Preston B. Whitmore

A journey to the depths of the ocean and the unknown to find the fabled lost city of Atlantis: That's what the team had set out for. The expedition has been funded by the eccentric and filthy rich Preston Whitmore, and follows the findings of the legendary Shepherd's Journal. The crew isn't expected to find much more than some ancient ruins, but being able to prove that Atlantis existed at all could promise them all wealth and fame. While the thought of fortune motivates some, the simple idea of knowledge and exploration powers others. What will our explorers find deep below the sea?

If you haven't caught on yet, this is an RP based on Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire. It will follow the basic plot of the movie, but will obviously go into more detail given that this is a written medium. Our characters will be OCs that are embarking on the same journey, with a few extra roles that go along with the theme. As with the movie, this RP will take place in 1914, with the same gloriously steampunkish aesthetic.

1: Please try to remain active. If you don't believe you can maintain a posting speed of twice per week, minimum, then please reconsider joining.

2: You may play an Atlantean if you want, but please also play a crew member. The Atlanteans won't come in until about halfway through the RP, and I don't want you guys to get bored waiting.

3: Honestly, that's all I can think of for now, but it looks weird to only have two lines.

Why not both?
This got a pretty good response! Maybe I'll make the ooc tomorrow. In the mean time, does anyone want to call dibs on their character's role?
