Next round in the morning!
@Sifr What's your status lookin' like at the moment?
@Estylwen

From Ozhiah she would see a murky grey, closer to the average but somewhat aligned towards dark. From Valen, she would behold an absolute abyssal blackness fit to dwarf perhaps most she had ever laid eyes on, in terms of alignment towards darkness.
I post with the power of cough syrup and Pepsi to strengthen me.

CAMPUS GROUNDS, FOREST

Chloe at first froze, but began to move when she saw Hildegunde's concern for her. She was lagging behind, clearly not as physically fit as perhaps anyone else in their class, and struggled to sprint in the torn dress that was quickly becoming closer to dirty rags. Even so, she ran, continuing to shout for the pursuer to stop. Eventually, it began to fire these arrows towards the frill-elf as well, which were only just barely dodged or would only graze her Personal Barrier as she fled. It was unclear how, but the creature appeared to be able to loose the arrows at each of the two girls simultaneously, growing in speed as the chase continued. It snapped and snarled hungrily from under the cover of bushes and trees as it gained speed, its breath quickening with adrenaline. "Succumb," it would growl, as a new volley of arrows launched forth.

This particular volley broke through Chloe's already diminished defenses, cutting through her barrier and slashing at her ankles. "Aghhh," she would screech as she tumbled to the cobblestone ground, focusing her Personal Barrier almost fully into her hands as she defended against yet another volley of arrows that seemed to now focus on her far more than Hildegunde. "I'm sorry, Rio... and..."

Her eyes would begin to close as her barrier weakened, breaking piece by piece to the arrows as cuts and burns began to appear upon Chloe's skin - the signs of rebound becoming all too apparent with her last burst in an attempt to survive. The next volley would be on its way shortly, this time fully focused on the half conscious half-elf.

CAMPUS GROUNDS, LEYLINE ATTUNEMENT ZONE

The awkward shuffling of feet and avoidance of gaze from those gathered near Valen spoke more than any response ever could. A few muttered weak defenses here or there, before from the gathering, a projectile of spit splattered on the concrete near Iraleth's feet. Stepping out in front of Valen to stare at Iraleth and Ciara was a pale boy in raggedy clothing, with dull eyes that rarely seemed to blink. Valen's expression remained neutral as he took in the words of those who approached him, only briefly looking over at the gi-clad boy who stepped in.

"Leuvalt casted pearls before swine - to most, and to you. While you saw cruelty or murderous intent, we few who dared accept our fate would bear witness to true genius. It was all but a test in the end, and Leuvalt of course never intended to end anyone's life. I suppose only some could see that, though," the unblinking boy would finally speak in monotone, the others behind him seeming to devolve into a mixture of uncertain head nods and reluctant compliance. "All with the perception to see such things differently than they appear will find the spark of ambition, you see. It can sometimes require the flames of certain death to see what one lives for."

With neither acknowledgement or agreeance of his defender's words, Valen would turn his head back between Ciara and Iraleth slowly, then place a hand upon the grey one's shoulder. "That is enough, Ozhiah. Not all can understand, nor should they be expected to. While true glory can only be obtained by those who lead, those like them - those that follow and cling to the conventional - may still find a lesser shine to give their existences meaning. It is no more pitiable, in the end, than watching a domesticated animal live and die in their enclosure."

Ozhiah would step to the side with a nod, pacing backwards with his hands clasped behind his back while facing the pair he had preached to.

"It matters not what I enjoy, all I meet eventually grow dim in my shadow or lose themselves in the dark world it creates for them. While unfortunate to admit, all exist under my thumb from birth," Valen would continue as he shifted from one foot to another, crossing his arms as he stared into Ciara. "It would be best that you both take heed in such truths for the future, as there will be no hesitation should we find ourselves opposed. The humiliation will be far less, would you accept your place in the hierarchy."

Nearby, Chunji would hear the sound of slower footsteps and clashing of wood against stone from behind. Emelie would limp over to him with the same brittle oak cane, looking sickly as ever with a smile much to the contrary. "Checking out the leylines early, huh? I getcha, I'm the same. It's nice to get acquainted with yer surroundings sooner 'n later," she would muse, following a joyful sigh as she stared over at nearby ongoings. "But still, sometimes ye gotta see what's goin' on right in front of ye, right? Take a gander o'er there, look at those wee kittens puffin' their fur like issa war of the worlds."

With her cane, she would direct Chunji towards the scene of Valen engaged with Iraleth and Ciara, chuckling as she took it in. "Can't say I know where they get their energy from. Youth, I s'pose. How 'bout you? Any grand rivalries like they're all wafflin' about? How's your first day in Compact 3 treatin' ye?"

From Otis' Adapa, he would hear an odd notification sound - as if his Adapa were defending against a foreign essence that then proceeded to rip through the baseline defenses, allowing a message through from someone who was not properly added as a contact. It simply read, "The two are in danger along the forest path. Best find them quick, dear Seeker."

As soon as the message was received and acknowledged, it would erase itself just as quickly, with the sound of crackling static overtaking as it did so.
Came down with a really tiring allergy/flu combo that's been keeping me low energy, but I'll try to get something out later tonight.
Next round tomorrow morning!
There would be four, intertwined - one for each of the casting conduits, that all link up at the golden pillar.
Heads up, I'm not gonna be around for the next round from Thursday to Tuesday at the earliest, feel free to skip me. Blame Dragon's Dogma 2.

I do feel this, DD2's gonna be sick.

CAMPUS GROUNDS, FOREST

"How much did you hear?"

These words would flow coldly from Chloe's mouth as she stared at Hildegunde, back facing the hunter and the left side of her face locked onto the unwanted witness as if she were all that mattered in the world. Dry leaves kicked up around the half-elf's feet, wind tossing them about haphazardly on the ground. The forest remained dead still, to the point that the cracking of a tree branch or the rustling of bushes would be deafening in contrast. "...But you are right, I would be all of those things."

A sigh, and the leaves came to a stop. Turning to face Hildegunde fully, Chloe's shoulders sank. "But I don't think I understand what you mean. What did you think you were 'stepping into'? Your classmate's venting session? I'm just tired, don't worry about it, I wasn't talking to anyone."

Another pause hung over Chloe as she kept eye contact, a bead of sweat forming on her forehead as she almost appeared to hold her breath. Then, all at once, the sound of rushing footsteps across grass, tearing through bushes and vines, could be heard. Movement from behind the tree shot out like a bullet, drilling through the foliage and ripping apart all in its path as this blur of aggression dove towards Hildegunde. Chloe would raise out a hand in the direction of the blur, eyes wide, shouting, "No, don't! Stop!" Her pleas would go ignored, however.

With the hunter fleeing, the blur would seem to stick to the bushes, crouched low. Based on the sounds of its thumping across shrubs and dirt, it was a smaller quadruped that cloaked itself among the forest's shadows. A growling could be heard, and after giving chase for more than a few seconds, what appeared to be arrows would begin loosing out of the bushes, aiming towards Hildegunde. The arrows, on a brief glance during the chase, appeared to be made of pure obsidian, or otherwise some other kind of solidified black substance.

"Children are oh-so-quick to wander where they shouldn't," a raspy growl would emerge from the bushes behind the hunter.

A loudspeaker rang out from further away in the direction of the main building, echoing throughout the entire campus as the voice of Principal Raja, announcing, "The attunement ceremony will commence in five minutes. Make your way to the leyline attunement zone, where students will familiarize themselves with Wingram's leylines and declare their choice of Wund or Nero! And speaking personally, I respect, but do not expect fashionably late individuals. That is all."

MAIN BUILDING

Alto nodded at Otis' request, giving yet another thumbs up to the owl as he continued to devour his sandwich. Gorias was known across the country to be quite the oddity himself, and so chances of contacting him were the highest over any other Arcmage that Vaal Shakta had to offer. "Old Vely's always busy, but there's no doubt in my mind he'd make time for an old friend like myself, if I let him know I was carrying on his legacy as a proud teacher of the Union. If you want a talk with him, I'm your man." The professor sometimes chewed with his mouth open, or spoke even as he continued to chew, while letting loose these words.

While attempting to locate Chloe, who would have likely been seen exiting down the northern hallways towards the exit into town, Otis was also bombarded by rushing crowds of students attempting to make their way to the attunement ceremony. Without proper care, some wouldn't even care to evade him as they shoulder checked their way through others walking at more even paces through the building. One particular klutz even kicked over a bucket of soapy water, and emerging from a nearby doorway upon this noise was Michael the janitor. He swore under his breath as he witnessed the soapy wet trails spread outwards in all directions across the hallway, raising an aggressive fist upwards as he watched the student sprint away out the northern exit. "Next time I see you, it's on sight, fucko!" Michael shouted this with conviction as if making a blood oath, before turning towards Otis with an apologetic shrug.

"Sorry, kid. Take care around the water, yeah? I'm gonna be cleaning these halls for hours. Kids these days really ain't the considerate type, y'know what I mean?" The hooded janitor once again muttered cusses as he retrieved his now empty bucket, withdrawing a mop from the nearby storage closet to get to work.

A loudspeaker rang out throughout the main building Otis found himself in, echoing throughout the entire campus and the halls as the voice of Principal Raja, announcing, "The attunement ceremony will commence in five minutes. Make your way to the leyline attunement zone, where students will familiarize themselves with Wingram's leylines and declare their choice of Wund or Nero! And speaking personally, I respect, but do not expect fashionably late individuals. That is all."

Iraleth's trip to the clinic would prove rather uneventful. It was a short wait by the point that she arrived, and even shorter when the receptionist saw the state Davil was in. The boy's words mostly consisted of gibberish and senseless flailing as he was guided towards his appointment with Doctor Payton, whom requested absolute privacy with the shivering Wund due to the delicate procedures necessary for his full recovery. There were some grumbles from other students in the waiting room about it not being fair that another person got to skip the line, but the state of Davil's health convinced people easily enough on appearance alone.

The paladin would certainly arrive to the attunement ceremony later than many, though enough time remained that she would even see other students from across the campus grounds still approaching as well. With a glance around between those present on the platform and within eyesight of it, the notable names from the events of yesterday would almost all appear to be present, with the exception of Otis, Hildegunde and Chloe. Most notably was Valen, who stood near the back of the crowd with a small semi-circle of students chatting amongst each other and occasionally turning to the crimson Leuvalt for advice on one thing or another.

A loudspeaker rang out from the main building nearby, echoing throughout the entire campus as the voice of Principal Raja, announcing, "The attunement ceremony will commence in five minutes. Make your way to the leyline attunement zone, where students will familiarize themselves with Wingram's leylines and declare their choice of Wund or Nero! And speaking personally, I respect, but do not expect fashionably late individuals. That is all."

The speaker would screech off, and as it did so, Raja would appear in a puff of flame and smoke near the central golden pillar that crowds gathered around. She snapped her fingers, and a podium would appear. Another snap, and handles each storing an ornate sword and shield would appear attached to the podium. The principal would cast her gaze outward across the student body, arms crossed, her eyes seemingly scanning each and every person in attendance.
