What I mean is, Britain is going to piss off a whole lot of neutral states by shutting down trade.

That and I believe it can be considered an act of war when the United States and United Kingdom aren't at war as of yet.

Edit: Oh god. Treaty of St. Petersburg.
Are orders even due yet? I thought it wasn't until wednesday?

Yeah, I was kinda confused that the Queen was named my leader as opposed to the current Prime Minister. Wasn't the majority of the Crown's power gone by this point?

I think it'll pretty much work the way you think it will most of the time. The main issue with the current situation is the complexity of British intervention in the ACW. The same ultimately goes for France as well.

It will be interesting to see how public opinion takes it. That said, I assumed that any actual decisions posted officially by the queen were ratified by parliament. Since obviously she does not have that sort of power on her own.

Might be exceptions with certain situations though. I'm hoping Outcast clears things up soon. The whole situation is very iffy for multiple reasons. It's possible but there would be consequences.

We aren't going to war. We are defending economic interests and acting as a deterrent against war. If the United States attacks us, then we have cause.

You also said that any attack against the Confederacy would be one against you. Once that inevitably happens it doesn't mean your people will be alright with it. Odds are the American fleet will be able to block off the CSA coast first before a British task force arrives.

Edit: Parliament act so much like bored said.

Have to wonder how the British people feel about going to war for the cause of slavery. The Trent Affair hasn't happened. Britain has no casus belli.

Even with the Trent affair I don't think they'd be very keen on it. I could also list at least a few other reasons why it wouldn't be a good idea as well. Though I'll just wait and see what happens first rofl.
There are a few differences yeah, might be better off just sticking with his. They're ultimately the same map anyways.

Found it Thanks.

No problem. Just be careful it isn't one that has been played a bit. I could take some screen shots of the map when I return home if it doesn't seem to match the one Outcast provided.

Does anyone have a good map of 1860's Earth?I cant find one that has names and is clear...

The one that Outcast provided is fairly clear for the majority of countries at the time. They should be easily noticeable (at least the major nations). It might be worth trying to find a Victoria 2 map at the 1861 start date as that is what the map was taken from. If you need any help figuring out what is what I can help. I really don't know of any good official maps with names.

I like how everyone is trying to enforce the Monroe Doctrine as a actual valid treaty when its just a declaration that probably doesn't mean much to the european powers.

While people have brought it up I don't think it is so much that as it is they're interfering in the affairs of a sovereign state.
