Neither side won the war of 1812. It ended in a Status Quo I believe. Everything just returned to the way it was. Both side had their big victories and defeats and the war actually increased American nationalism by a large amount. Also Italy wouldn't be going to war with Venice if something did happen. The Kingdom of Venice is the area we wish returned which is currently under the control of the Austrian Empire.

This. ^

The Kingdom of Venice is similar to a state or a province within the Austrian Empire, similar to the Kingdom of Bohemia or the Kingdom of Hungary. It was annexed by Austria after the Napoleonic Wars. Italy would be going to war with us over the status of Venice, not against Venice itself.

@NarcolepticSailor, I know none 'won' the War of 1812 but Britain, but they 'win' because they attacked the capital and burned it down and defended both the US army and navy. Well, I didn't say nationalism I said morale. Sorry about that mess up, will fix the issue in the next post that I do.

It's all good. Sorry if it's a bother just trying to lend a hand. There is so much IC stuff going down out of the gate it's crazy.

@Pasta Sentient, Yeah, I do feel bad about it too, but none of my RPs have their ICs up yet. And it's summer break for me so I got nothing to do..
@NarcolepticSailor, It is fine. I have post too much for today and lots of people have to get catch up so I'll stop posting until tomorrow.

I like how everyone is trying to enforce the Monroe Doctrine as a actual valid treaty when its just a declaration that probably doesn't mean much to the european powers.

While people have brought it up I don't think it is so much that as it is they're interfering in the affairs of a sovereign state.

The one that Outcast provided is fairly clear for the majority of countries at the time. They should be easily noticeable (at least the major nations). It might be worth trying to find a Victoria 2 map at the 1861 start date as that is what the map was taken from. If you need any help figuring out what is what I can help. I really don't know of any good official maps with names.

No problem. Just be careful it isn't one that has been played a bit. I could take some screen shots of the map when I return home if it doesn't seem to match the one Outcast provided.

There are a few differences yeah, might be better off just sticking with his. They're ultimately the same map anyways.

The first one you posted is somewhat more conservative with the territories that are effectively under Russian control in Siberia. It also shows Mongolia and Tibet as vassal states of the Qing Empire rather than under direct control. On top of that, it has Taiping present, which I'm surprised ours doesn't have.

Also, that one shows Finland as a vassal of the Russian Empire.

Both maps are correct, technically.

I have a feeling this RP is going to mean the end of me ever sleeping again. Going to do a lot of reading, then I'll reply to all the PMs and sort all this out.

@Outcast, You might need that Co-GM spot to open. It's going to be like this for a long time and that's how WiRs are usually run. Better get your coffee ready ;)
