Do you like cyberpunk? Do you like stories? Do you like complicated characters, and conspiracies? Take a look! roleplayerguild.com/topics/1..

Bio

Hi! I'm Naril. I write, build things, and I'm incredibly busy, all the time. I'm probably older than you. I'm not interested in isekai, school settings, sandboxes, excessively grimdark settings, or invitation-only threads; I'm very picky about militaria, I don't care for A Song of Ice and Fire, Nation roleplay bores me to tears, most fandom doesn't really catch my attention, and though I prefer Advanced-level writing, I'm not going to help you write your book (Unless you feel like paying my day rate) - which almost certainly means I'm not here. Some day, maybe. Probably not, though!

I am interested in science fiction, cyberpunk, space operas, and stories of working together, uplift, and progress. You'll catch my attention with fantasy adventures in an interesting world, or with almost any modern fantasy. I have a soft spot for superhero stories, and you might find me in the occasional Star Wars or Star Trek fandom.

My standards are high for myself and mild for everyone else; I love writing dialogue and making you feel like you can taste the place I'm creating. I write in the style I like to read, which is the part I find fun. If you want an example of the authors I enjoy, look at Ann Leckie, Tamsyn Muir, N.K. Jemisin, Martha Wells, Terry Pratchett, and Neil Gaiman.

@Bai Suzhen - An uploaded personality very likely won't exist in this world (yet), and a fully-prosthetic individual will need to be very well-justified. Still, I try not to say "absolutely not" up front, and I'm always ready for people to impress me. :3

Depending on how busy I wind up being today, the OOC may go up this afternoon. If not, then not later than tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks for the interest, everyone. I'm glad to see some fellow cyberpunk enthusiasts. :3
Now that's exciting. :3

I'll get an OOC up in the next day or two, in all likelihood!
Again, this setting is emphatically not going to be a sandbox. :3

Very likely, this is going to start in medias res, with your characters having already known one another (perhaps you're a gang that's been together for some time, or perhaps you've all been individually contacted for a job you have to work together on), in the middle of something that's about to go terribly wrong. I do have a couple of other "cold starts" planned, but that's the one that's catching me most right now.

This is subject to change, of course, depending on what kind of characters show up!
I'm glad to see your interest! I feel like conspiracy (maybe) thrillers are a bit under-represented here, and, well, be the change and all. :3
Hi!

I'm finding myself feeling like I might want to try running a cyberpunk story, and I thought I'd test (or chum) the waters. Oh, and I'm back! After like...six months. Life, other plans, etc.

This is going to be a pretty low-key check, so here are the important parts:

- The world is ours, but a little different, and a little bit into the future. Think Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Lock-In by John Scalzi, Ghost in the Shell, or even Robocop.

- Cybernetic augmentations will be a large part of the world, along with artificial intelligence, corporate espionage, and assassination - political and physical.

- Military tactics-gaming, large-scale firefights, and general combat and mayhem will probably not be part of the story. While I fully expect there to be some fighting, there will probably not be wide-scale mayhem that the players are directly involved in.

- Speaking of that story, I have a fairly complex conspiracy story written out, where your characters will be peeling back layers of lies until they discover something that they may wish they hadn't. While the story is extremely flexible and I will avoid trying to railroad you, there will be a plot involved. The world will not be "bring your own adventure," Think of it sort of like the world's most adaptable tabletop RPG module. You won't be passively accepting plot points from me (like you would in a video game), and the story won't be an open sandbox, either.

- Player slots will not be first-come, first-served, and the group will probably not be more than 6-8 players. And, fair warning, I have extremely high standards - but I also like helping people meet those standards, so we might wind up talking a lot. I'm nice! Mostly.

- Y'all will have to talk to one another, in character, a lot. I don't really expect that to be a problem, but you never know...

Anyway, that's the five-minute version. if you have questions, let me know. I'm heading to dinner so I may be a little slow, but I'll try to answer. :3
Surface-level reading.
Edit: Actually, no. Thanks for considering me, though. I hope you have a lovely time - I've seen these threads last for a very long time, so something's going right in you alchemy! See you around the forums.
--Thanks for your time!--
I am very nearly done with my character - only a couple of paragraphs left. As the GM was kind enough to still let me post it even though I'm rather later than I wanted to be, I'll get it in before any sort of large time-skip post. I hope. *laughs*
Mm. Well, I can't say I'm surprised.

Still, I'll try to have something finished soon. I quite like the character I'm writing. :3
