Bio
Hi! I'm Naril. I write, build things, and I'm incredibly busy, all the time. I'm probably older than you. I'm not interested in isekai, school settings, sandboxes, excessively grimdark settings, or invitation-only threads; I'm very picky about militaria, I don't care for A Song of Ice and Fire, Nation roleplay bores me to tears, most fandom doesn't really catch my attention, and though I prefer Advanced-level writing, I'm not going to help you write your book (Unless you feel like paying my day rate) - which almost certainly means I'm not here. Some day, maybe. Probably not, though!
I am interested in science fiction, cyberpunk, space operas, and stories of working together, uplift, and progress. You'll catch my attention with fantasy adventures in an interesting world, or with almost any modern fantasy. I have a soft spot for superhero stories, and you might find me in the occasional Star Wars or Star Trek fandom.
My standards are high for myself and mild for everyone else; I love writing dialogue and making you feel like you can taste the place I'm creating. I write in the style I like to read, which is the part I find fun. If you want an example of the authors I enjoy, look at Ann Leckie, Tamsyn Muir, N.K. Jemisin, Martha Wells, Terry Pratchett, and Neil Gaiman.
Your first post on this site and you make it in my thread? I'm a little embarrassed at how pleased I am about that. :3 For a little background, I ran this thread late last year, and all the old players have come back to let me have another try at telling the story. I'm terribly pleased to have a new player, so thank you so much!
Also, like Beth a lot. I'm deeply entertained that we might have more women than men in this story, too. Really, I'd normally have a bunch of questions for you, but I'm convinced enough by your sheet that you both understand the world and you have a really good idea of who your character is, so welcome aboard. :3
I'm working on the first IC post, and I'm expecting to have it up either Friday or Saturday . Like I mentioned, it'll be a little bit more of a cold open, so be prepared for a little Dresden Files-flavoured hijinks, at least to start.

Now, as for the Secret section of the character sheet...
I really want all of these characters to feel like they've known one another for a little bit. To that end, I'd like you to either:
1.) Write a one or two-sentence description of how your character gets along (or doesn't) with each of the other characters. Please do involve Skype or PMs in this if you like. You're all Advanced-level writers - make up some interesting piece of history or conflict or whatever.
OR
2.) Write a short (probably not more than 500 words) scene where your character, and a character of your choosing, are having lunch, or breakfast, or dinner, I suppose. This can be collaborative if you want, but again - you've got all the important pieces of the cast now. You can pick an NPC, although I think it would be more interesting to use another player-character. :3
There will certainly be some silliness - I don't intend for any kind of grimdark ultra-violence or anything. There's a fairly serious plotline, but I promise a certain amount of levity. :3
O...kay. I think I have a plan. Um. I know @HeySeuss is being very relaxed with what he's letting us do and how we push on the narrative, but I suppose I really need to ask - y'all have already killed three people. While I'm not really in the mood to write a lot of violence right now, what I've got slowly assembling in the back of my head can push the plot forward or set up some more action.
So I suppose what I'm asking is: Do you guys want me to move the plot along (in a way that hopefully our GM doesn't mind), or set up for a Western-style saloon siege? I rather feel we've covered the "yelling at bar patrons and preparing," at this point.
@POOHEAD189 - Mm, not really. Kiera's an outsider, even to her family, but she won't abandon them. She will very likely look for other solutions - from her point of view, barricading the tavern is not a great plan. From the point of view of the woman writing her, I need to reconcile that with the fact that everyone else wants to stand and fight. Depending on how much time I really want to devote to untangling that, it might not even be a question, though. The story is larger than my momentary hang-ups.
Edit: Oh! @Flagg, have you read Joe Abercrombie's "First Law" books? :3
Mm. And here I am, stuck between what I know my character would do versus what I'm very sure where the story is supposed to go. I'll try to decide during yoga this evening, I suppose. :3
I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to reading it. :3
We'll be starting with something a little more silly and action-loaded at least for the first scene - but I'm trying to amuse myself along with all of you, and I just spent lot of time at a garden center... *grins*
Mm. I may have a post up this evening, but more likely tomorrow - I'm very sleepy, and I have a snuggly cat and a snuggly partner luring me to my bed. :3
