Yeah, I know that feel. I suppose all we can do is hope things smooth over... I mean, if WW3 happens then it'll happen regardless of whether or not we worry. And if it doesn't, then we're stressing ourselves out for no reason.Hence why I kind of just try to ignore such thoughts...
I tend to try that too. For the most part in wars that don't directly affect me (I.E. All of them), my general opinion is that both sides are idiots for being unable to even try to listen to eachother. I just feel sorry for the general population that gets abused in the process -- and, in this case, the almost 300 civilian deaths that didn't even had anything to do with the conflict in the first place. The thing is, I can't help but think of what could happen next in situations like these. A random conflict in the Middle East? Meh, what's new; those tend to stay relatively local anyway. Russia and Europe/USA in what's essentially a new Cold War? That can only end badly.
What the hell going on with Israel? Hasn't it been a hotbed of activity since like... always?
Partially true. Before Israel was named Israel, jews, christians and muslims all lived in general peace right next to each other. It was not until the West came along and mucked everything up, along with tons of European Jews immigrating towards 'Israel' that this started to go south. I'm assuming Cal is talking about Israƫl invading the Gaza Strip with ground forces though, which hasn't happened in quite a while. Like I said before, I just feel sorry for whoever is born in that hellhole (including both sides, but especially Gaza.) This is also why I really don't want Israel to join the NATO. According to the NATO rules, this would allow them to demand that most of the Western world choose their side in the ongoing conflict, something which can only cause problems.
Also, a couple of updates on the plane crash victims:
- 20 Unknown
- 173 Dutch
- 44 Malaysians
- 27 Australians
- 12 Indonesians
- 9 Brits
- 4 Germans
- 4 Belgians
- 3 Phillipines
- 1 Canadese
- 1 New-Zealander
Amongst the victims are also three very young children, possibly even infants (the cause of an early irregularity in the death toll, seeing as they didn't have their own seats).
It is unknown if anyone on the ground got hit by the random shrapnel or anything like that.
