As Sam heard the door behind him open, he slowly turned towards the opening to see what he presumed was his roommate. He had a Jumpluff with him, and seemed about the same age as himself, if not a bit older.
A trainer about my age with a stage two pokemon... If he has more pokemon like that, I would say he is well experienced. As the trainer introduced himself as Wes, which Sam presumed would be short for Wessel or Wesley, he noticed the introduction was short and simple, yet not blunt. He liked that. He got a sly smile on his face, seeing he already liked the person even though they just met.
"Sam," he answered in a similar way. Wes claimed his bed, so Sam took the other bed and moved his bag next to it. As Wes introduced his Jumpluff as Tilly, Sam nodded and took out his partner's pokeball from his belt. Pressing the button and inflating it, it opened and a small light came out, forming the shape of two swords crossing eachother.
"Doublade. Just Doublade," Sam said.
He knew many people liked to give their pokemon nicknames, yet somehow Sam never liked doing this himself. It was probably because he thought that giving a pokemon a nickname was to stengthen the bond between the pokemon and the trainer, which he personally didn't find necessary, as he already had a strong bond with each of his pokemon.
That, and he was never good at coming up with names for his pokemon.
As Sam took out his bedsheets out of his bag, and his Doublade was trying to become friends with Tilly, he saw that Wes put a pokemon egg on his bed. Sam looked at this, finding it a bit weird, but didn't question it too much.
"Are you a pokemon breeder?" He asked while making his bed ready. Sam heard about the options of the Academy for studies like breeding and contest coordination. He wasn't sure what to do himself yet, as he was always a friendly battler, never competetive. He thought it would a good idea to just let the basic studies happen and see what would interest him along the way.
