so would the lords and ladies of the houses retain the canon abilities that they have, just modified (like obviously tony doesn't get an iron man suit, etc)? sorry, I'm just a little unclear on it all. I LOVE the idea though!
Tony Stark could in theory have something like an iron man suit, it would just have to be modified to fit the setting, a steam powered suit of armor could work. Technology exists, but obviously nothing like the canon.
The lords and ladies retain most of their abilities, just put it in a medieval fantasy context and it'll work. Think Dungeons and Dragons.
@NubianLegend To sorta add on to @ayzrules question, would our characters and, by extension, every character be stated to have superpowers or is it all simply chalked down as magic?
Magic exists, as do superpowers to a certain extent. Superpowers are mostly a byproduct of one's mastery of magick concepts. Of course you can train your body through sheer will into unlocking supernatural abilities , or you can be born with said abilities.
The only difference is the scope of these powers are nerfed for good reason. Superpowers would fall under martial or mystic training, magic-based enhancements or inherent aptitudes. Due to way the game is structured, magic would obviously be a pursuit for the privileged few. I just don't see poor people having much access to magic arts. To learn magic you would have to be taught by a priest or wizard.
interested! quick question, though-would the characters be superpowered in this world or just normal people?
Around the level of the cinematic universe, if not closer to a song of fire and ice, if that makes any sense. I want to leave some of the more ridiculous comic book feats alone.
A land of intrigue and war. A story of men, myth and magic. Who will ultimately sit atop the iron throne?

S.H.I.E.L.D Brothers/Sisters
S.H.I.E.L.D fulfills a role similar to the Nightswatch of Westeros, the sole difference being that both men and women are free to join S.H.I.E.L.D and although the taking of wives/husband is forbidden, people still manage to get pregnant.
Lord Cammander of SHIELD: Nicholas J. Fury Vice-Commander: Maria Hill
First Ranger: First Builder: First Stewart:
The S.H.I.E.L.D is a military order entrusted with holding and keeping the Wall, an immense ice structure which separates the northern border of the Seven Kingdoms from the lands beyond. The order is currently led by Lord Commander Nick Fury from the stronghold of Castle Black.
The SHIELD consists of three groups: the Rangers, who fight, defend the Wall and patrol the Haunted Forest; the Builders, who maintain the Wall and the castles; and the Stewards, who support and feed the members of the Watch. The men and women of SHIELD are known for only wearing black. For once you Join SHIELD, you can never go back.
Bastards & Names
Someone asked me what all the Bastard Names were in-game wise. So here goes.
Summerset Isles: Summers Valria: Sands The Reach: Flowers Solitude: Storm Asgard: Hill Riverlands: Rivers Vale: Stone Winterhold: Frost
Powers/Skills: As an Avatar or reincarnated divine being inhabiting an earthly body. Omari possesses an ascended physiology(superhuman strength, regeneration, speed and durability) though less pronounced than say Superman or Thor.
Equipment/Resources: God Hilt Crossguard- A type of weapon that only Chango, the African god of Storms is known to use, it's believed that the hilt acts as a stabilizing conduit for the thunder god's lightning force bolts, forming a blade of extraordinary sharpness. Resembling a lightsaber.
Biography: Omari is a being originally from a planet far away that was destroyed by a great evil, as one of the weaker newborns of his people, he was sent to Earth as an infant with the mission to conquer it. However, an accident alters his memory, causing him to grow up pure-hearted and later become Earth's greatest defender, as well as the informal leader of a band of martial artists.
Oh wait, that's not his origin at all. The real Omari was born in a hospital in Nairobi to a loving couple of Kenyan engineers. As you can see, he was born with freaky white hair(odd huh?). His mother says that a god-like being came to her in a dream exactly nine months before she'd given birth to him. The likely story is that he acquired his quirks from a supernatural benefactor, as neither of his parents exhibited unusual genes prior, there is no scientific explanation for his condition.
Even more freaky, he had this knack for predicting storms, days and sometimes weeks in advance. Unfortunately, he wasn't blessed with his folks good sense or ingenuity. He was the odd duck in his family for much of his early life. Preferring mind numbing entertainment and punching stuff to books and art.
Although he wasn't the most academically inclined sort of guy, athletically he was the second coming of Pelé. Soccer was his thing until he found out about basketball, then he became quite good at that. Good enough to play abroad on full-scholarship collegiately.
Now he's in Japan going to school as the residential big man on campus.
