Bio

You JUST scrolled down!

Hello out there! My name's Mason. I like a lot of random stuff like comics, Masters of the Universe, M*A*S*H, X-Files, conspiracy theories, as well as a good superhero themed role play! I'm more of a DC freak than a Marvel zombie but I did grow up on mutants and 3rd string heroes. Once in awhile I'll make a few micros in MSPaint for my RP's because I love designing heroes as much as I do writing/reading about them. I'm about to try and get another Amalgam Universe themed game off the ground, if you're interested gimme a shout!

My top RP's on the Guild:

Young Justice 2020
Justice League Unlimited
Titans of Gotham
Champions of Engine City
Marvel Reborn
Legion of Superheroes Return [stat based]

Top Characters:

Ditto - Young Justice series
Bulleteer - Justice League Unlimited
Leviathan - Titans of Gotham
Fastlane - Champions of Engine City
the Thing II - Marvel Reborn
Ultra Boy II - Legion of Superheroes Return

I've been RP'ing for awhile. I mostly RP to keep my writing skills up to par, and I generally RP between Casual and Advanced. I've been a member of the guild for quite a bit, pre Guildfall even. Ninety percent of the time you'll find me in some superhero themed RP or something based off of another fandom like MotU or Power Rangers. Currently in the process of developing my own comics!

Favorite DC heroes (I won't go into villains to save space) in no order: Aquaman, Hawkman, Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner), Superboy (the clone), Swamp Thing, Starman, Animal Man, the Ray (90's era), Impulse, Captain Atom, and Batman Beyond.

Favorite Marvel heroes list: Human Torch I & II, Capt. Mar-Vell, Black Bolt, the classic Destroyer, Havok, Multiple Man, classic Scarlet Spider, Spiderman 2099, Nova, and Colossus.

OTHER FAVORITES: Space Ghost, Haunt, the Maxx, Shadowhawk, Green Hornet, Madman, Doctor Star/Andromeda, the Phantom, He-Man, and Zorro.

<Snipped quote by Member 00492>Superman's age has nothing to do with it. Why you thought that mattered is ridiculous based on what I said.

The CS I written depends on the show existing as is, the GLC (at least one particular member of it), and it not being some random universe that has absolutely nothing to do with the DCAU beyond the name.

Also Alan Scott sucks balls. He is weak against wood. He could be beaten by a random mugger if he used a stick.

The recent attempt at a modern Alan Scott that was gay... he sucked balls. Making a superhero just as prone to getting beat with a wooden bat as anybody else was a clever weakness. It was a huge plot hole though with Alan using his power to pass through walls that would often have been made of wood.

Just for giggles, what exactly would you have done had I not selected a handful of characters to alter myself for mentors? What if everything was open for reinterpretation and we got a new GL, a new Superman, etc? I only assumed an older Superman would effect a Galatea CS because of her connection to Supergirl. The last person I'd think would effect her CS would be John Stewart.

I'm not basing this thing on any one continuity, and much like my other games I'll just take bits from here and there to make the most entertaining RP possible. The only cannons off limits are Superman, Green Lantern, and Batman. If you wanna make your own Wonder Woman or Supergirl have at it. A new Flash? That could be cool too. Use whatever cannon you'd like, it's only unacceptable if I say it's unacceptable. Just don't make any characters tied to huge events in the comics like Blackest Night or Zero Hour and we should be okay.

@Burning Kitty ^^^ That's from the opening post. Gotta read past the opening line and the pictures. The concept of a giant Justice League and episodic like missions is the only thing I'm taking from the cartoon. It's not based on any one continuity or alternate Earth. Galatea was basically a clone of Supergirl who mirrored the look of Powergirl. That could still work since Earth 2 isn't a thing with Alan Scott running around on the League. I thought I mentioned in another post in the thread the origin of the JL and the reason for making the roster 'Unlimited' would be different. Is making Superman older really gonna hamper a Galatea CS?

EDIT: John Stewart wasn't used because I don't want the GLC or any of the rainbow colored Lanterns floating around in space. To simplify the universe I used the GL that doesn't rely on the GLC for a backstory.

@Thecrash20 So long as you don't have Jason Todd in your ear in the RP we're good. I love the Phil Cho Earth 27 artwork too.

Lots of good sheets so far guys. Still waiting to see if a few of yours finish your WIPs.

Superman - He's the first superhero. The reason it's even called a super-hero. His career seemingly began in the 1970's, however reports indicate he may have been active as far back as WWII. Same basic powers of Superman. He makes everybody in the room wanna stand a little bit taller. A big blue boyscout to this day, he has a line he'll never cross and ALWAYS finds another way. He's pretty much the big gun of the metahuman/alien archetypes. He's only been Clark Kent the last twenty years or so of his life on Earth. He obviously ages slower in the universe than past incarnations.

Batman (mask off) - Same billionaire playboy philanthropist, his career just began in the late 90's and has lasted nearly two decades. He is to the gadgeteers and standard human heroes what Superman is to metas and aliens. The big gun. Basically picture Ben Afleck's Batman here just with more gray hair.

Green Lantern - Alan Scott is the resident GL, and the ONLY GL in this universe. I'm staying away from the GLC and all the rainbow brigade Corps. His career stretches over the last decade or so and a few years back he absorbed the energies of his magic ring internalizing his power. He's the big gun of the supernatural/magic archetypes. He's also based in Gotham and mostly patrols during the day when Batman isn't being Batman.

These three will be the remaining founders of the original Justice League. The other two members of the team will have been killed in action hence the massive recruitment drive. It would take a handful of novice heroes to replace even one of the big guns. And Batman is looking closer and closer to retirement shape. I'll wait until the OOC is up and the IC is being developed before deciding who the final two members of the team would have been. The short list is Vixen, Black Canary, Capt. Marvel, Firestorm, Bumblebee, Tomorrow Woman, and Robot Man.

If you'd be willing to cut the powers down for now, if this RP lasts awhile and we have enough missions his character evolution could be gaining some of the abilities later on. He'd still need to be aged up to 20-21 though. I'd make creating stuff, shock waves, and healing people come later.

You can keep all of the abilities you had before. This was my compromise. Losing one ability and keeping everything else as well as adding a sword into the mix doesn't really cut his offensive repertoire down at all. You also didn't age him up.

The telekinetic like ability having sub powers is the main thing that makes him OP. By definition it's three powers in one and then you still have more. I don't want people pushing the line of the power limits from the get-go, however if you'd allow for some of the power to come later it wouldn't be so bad. Creating something out of nothing and healing people are things of Godly nature, those are big ones which is why I suggested they come later. Shock waves I included in the list because he can already move stuff with his mind and enhance his striking power. GL's were taken off the table because they're too powerful, then you basically made somebody with some form of every GL ability plus additional powers. I think the compromise I suggested is fair.

Also, reading emotions and emotional manipulation in general seemed to be @Experiment 249's bag. However sensing the supernatural and magical energy signatures is acceptable.

I'll have short write ups for the three big guns sometime tonight. I've got a couple RP's I'm working on posts for though so it might get posted kinda late depending how long each bit of info takes.

Glad you liked the character. If you're open to long term storyline ideas as well, I have a few in mind that I could PM you.

Yeah man send 'em on over.

-00492
@FiroIV Think I mentioned in the opening both were fair game for reinterpretation.

@Member 00492
What is your Batman like, is he going to be like the animated series or a more Edgy continuity? I'd like my sample post be their first introduction and I don't want to clash with your version.

Batman will basically be gray haired, visually the oldest looking of the three big gun mentors, yet still healthy in his mid 40's. He's the most experienced hero next to Superman himself who appears around the same age but is in fact about twice as old. GL will be an updated version of Alan Scott to simplify things and get away from the convoluted mess that the GLC has become.

As far as personality, he's alone. He's had a rough career and recently Alfred has passed away. He still intense though.

Name: Paul Kirk

Alias: the Manhunter

Age: 30

Personality: distant, calm, loyal, respectful, witty

Archetype: Metahuman

Powers: heightened physical attributes on par with an Olympic athlete; possesses a healing factor; heightened senses; h2h and marksmanship skills

Weaknesses: it takes him longer to heal from greater injuries; brain injuries that leave weapons or projectiles in his head can cause his healing to stop; Manhunter is also only wearing light body armor and protection so he can still be effected by most things that can effect humans.

Appearance:

Character Evolution: I want him to eventually gain friends in the League and open up a little bit. His day job and being Manhunter is this dude's only life. He could use some friends. Or a dog. Or a girlfriend.

BRIEF Bio: Paul Kirk found his calling as a police detective in his early 20's and eventually rose to the rank of Captain. He had no idea that a metahuman gene in his DNA was responsible for his incredible health, or what saved him from what would have been two fatal gunshot wounds. Everything came crashing down on the man from Midway City when a scandal cost him his career and what few friends he had. At the age of twenty-seven Kirk became a private investigator part time while enjoying his forced retirement from actual police work. Usually just looking for a missing kid or stalking somebody's ex. In one instance the assignment had Kirk come to blows with an angered ex of a client and for a few moments Kirk felt the thrill again. Later that same evening at a local diner he'd stopped into, a robbery occurred. After taking three gunshots to the chest and getting up to take down the badguy... he finally realized he was superhuman.

Inspired by popular television shows and movies Kirk created an alias and a suit. No perps ever got away from Detective Paul Kirk. Now... no man escapes the Manhunter!

Notes:

* The original Paul Kirk didn't have powers however his clones were a little more Capt. America. This is basically giving the original some power as well.

* Originally his look inspired the design of the Manhunter Androids, in this interpretation I used the androids look to make his simple suit a little less bland.

* Carries a custom Silver Heat 45. He has two full clips of twelve rounds each as well as another six shells in each hidden compartment in his boots giving him a total of thirty-six rounds.

Sample Post:

He ran through the night in downtown Midway City. The city was comparable to cities like Detroit, and the Manhunter leaped and flipped from one roof top to the next. A client had hired PI Paul Kirk to spy on her husband who she thought was having a simple affair. What Kirk uncovered was a slavery ring the 'cheating bastard' was in on. He was currently tailing a blue van, thankfully it was trying to not be suspicious. Had the van been going over the twenty-five mile per hour limit Kirk might've been a little more winded. It finally came to its destination, a Masonic Temple. AKA a building with only one window by law...

"Really? I thought this was more of a Boston thing than Midway..." he thought sneaking down to the street level.

It wasn't as easy to sneak into the building with only one window and one door. When he kicked the door in the masked hero came in hard and shot everyone who looked like Mister Rogers in the shoulder or leg. Manhunter fought his way towards the back and found their tunnel and found two more men with three young women hostage armed with shotguns.

"Easy fellas. You've already lost. I called the cops before I busted your door down. By the way, Steve, your wife says hi!" Manhunter said catching the man of guard.

The man fired his shotgun at the hero in red and blew him back. He threw the woman down he was holding and approached the downed hero. The other guy backhanded one of the girls and told them to stay put and approached the gunned down hero as well.

"I've never shot at one of these people before. You'd think they only go after guys in costumes..." said the man called Steve who shot Kirk.

"Yeah, no kidding. And this one even knows your wife..? Um... did you just see him move?" replied the other guy kicking at the body with his foot.

Suddenly the hero sprung back to life and clotheslined both of the men. Only one of their guns went flying but before the other man knew what was happening Manhunter broke his arm. Which of course resulted in his gun being dropped as well.

"The cops are on their way. They'll help you..." he said to the young girls after shooting both men in the knees and throwing their weapons down into the tunnel entrance.

"Are... are you... aaa... a robot?" one of the girls asked still in shock.

"Why does everybody think that?" he replied taking his exit...

@Weird Tales It's still too many powers too early on and every single one of them impact a battle greatly except for maybe God's Eye. This RP will have episodic like missions and having somebody that can do that much makes it pointless to have a team around, vulnerable or not. You could make the Spectre a half naked human in green underoos and SUPER vulnerable but if he could still create stuff, alter reality, become intangible, fly, speak to deities, become invisible, had omnipotent physical strength, cosmic awareness, etc... it'd still be too much. I explained earlier why I always take Green Lanterns out of the picture because how out of hand their power levels can be.

And I specifically stated not to get too nuts with powers. And you give me 'four categories'. If more of the powers had less effect on the battle field it wouldn't be as bad. Like I said though, every one of them is for the battle field save for one. Doesn't matter if he's more or less human than Jesus Christ, a near-God level power player isn't what I'm looking for.

I tried to compromise with letting you pick up a few powers in later missions. If you're not willing to compromise then I'm sorry but it's not gonna get accepted.
