80's Retro-Style - Slice of Life

Ok, we are pretty much all set. OOC will be up inside of 24 Hours.

For those that have played with us before, you will recognize us using the Sol City "universe", and if you haven't played with us, then you don't need to have read anything related to that, so no worries. This game will be separate from those chapters, like I mentioned in the initial post here.

We will be using Delta City, which was first mentioned in this post a whopping four years ago.

We have the map set with all the starter locations that we have thought up so there will be plenty of time as you make your CS submissions to make your own locations if you would like. One note: We have been using a different mapmaker that is much better than the old maps that were a pain to update, the only drawback is that it is web based and doesn't seem to work well when viewed on a phone.

Once posted, we'll leave the OOC up for a bit and give everyone time to make characters before we get rolling.

Thanks to everyone that has shown interest thus far, we definitely appreciate it and are looking forward to another fun game. If you need a discord link, just send me a PM.

Just about anything fits, the main thing we've noticed after doing this genre for years is that you want a character that's going to be able to interact with others and not be isolated from the start.

In our Sol City game I had a US Marshal and a Mechanic/Racecar Driver. This time I'm gonna have a singer and a bodybuilder.

80's Retro-Style - Slice of Life

It's been a while, but we are thinking about going back to our bread and butter and doing another Slice of Life game in the same manner as our trio of Sol City games that did well and ran about three years on here.

Mechanics will be basically the same, but for a different flavor, we're going to put the setting in the 1980's, probably late 80's. Naturally, it's going to be set in Florida so if you liked playing GTA Vice City and/or slice of life games in general then this will probably be your cup of tea.

CS will be simple as usual and we'll do a steadily moving time-skip with events/attractions for continuity. Those that played with us before know the drill. There will be a MAP of course to help with a sense of place and distance and players will be able to make locations as they like and contributions to the public/commercial landscape will be encouraged.

The main goal is to do something different and of course have fun. Our last three games did well because we kept it simple and just allowed plots and relationships to form naturally in the context of a unique setting. Doing things in the era of the 80's we think would add a neat spin to the game when there's basically no cellphones, computers are rare and life was much more local in general.

Oh, and basically everyone still smoked indoors.

You don't need to have grown up or lived in the time period to play, those that are old farts, like me (the rest of you know who you are), can provide some context, but there's more than enough information out there if you're curious, though we'll still probably put together a nice resources section to help get your creativity flowing.

Black Ops RP?

I had thought about making one for a while, but with a Kelly's Heroes sort of vibe to it so it wouldn't be the same ol' trope. More lighthearted, but still fun.
