‘Oh, hey, thanks! Good luck, you too!’ Colin said, before moving off the stage.
‘Erika has decided to go again! But, she needs a new opponent! Her foe will be selected among the ones that won an earlier round!’ Makirisu called. With that, and after a little delay during which most certainly someone was retrieving a person, an opponent was appearing on the other side of the arena.
‘We’ve got John, the Chefmaster! He’s a chef, but he’s also a Pokémon Trainer! He’s so dedicated to his job, he’s LITERALLY STILL COOKING!’ Makirisu called, and indeed, there was a chef… somehow with some food being cooked in a frying pan!
‘Hello! I am John, and I’m a chef! But, I also like Pokémon battling! Let’s make this quick, I’m keeping this order warm in the meantime!’ he said, while very jolly.
‘With that, it’s time for a new battle to begin! First, we must decide on the rules!’ Makirisu called, and her Pachirisu excitedly jumped upon the wheel and spun it. There were a lot of options, and the wheel was positioned pretty high so it was sort of difficult to read the options, they were so many. But, eventually, it stopped on…
‘KING OF THE HILL!’ Makirisu called, and the audience cheered. Suddenly, the stage shifted. Mechanics working underneath raised the middle platform, and the rest became an incline leading up to it. The Pokéball shape usually found in the middle of the Pokémon arenas remained flat, and started to shine.
‘The rules are simple! The team that spends the longest amount of time on top of the hill wins! No Pokémon can be knocked out, but they sure can be knocked DOWN!’ she explained. ‘There are two more factors that need to be decided! Team-size and how long the battle will be!’ As she explained so, two more, smaller wheels appeared next to the bigger wheel. They eventually came to a stop, and…
‘Three Pokémon each, the game will only last two minutes! For your team to earn points, there must be NO opposing Pokémon on the top! It only counts when you rule the top alone!’ Makirisu called. So went the rules.
John nodded, and used some serving pincers to fish up three Pokéballs, and then sent them out. A large, dinosaur-like Pokémon with large green leaves as wings, a flying ice-cream and a fire monkey.
Pokédex Entry #357 – Tropius, the Fruit Pokémon. This Pokémon continuously seeks out and eats fruit, growing more nourishing fruit itself the more it eats. It flies by flapping its giant leaves, somehow. It’s normally found in jungles, but Isson doesn’t have jungles, so instead they inhabit the rainy Northern Silent Forest and its Southern counterpart occasionally.
Pokédex Entry #582 – Vanillite, the Fresh Snow Pokémon. Born from icicles bathed in morning sunlight, they can use their cold breath to create snow crystals and make it lightly snow around them. They’re pleasantly cool to be around, so they’re commonly kept around indoors when it’s hot to keep it cool.
Pokédex Entry #513 – Pansear, the High Temp Pokémon. It lives in caves in volcanos. It has been noted to be very intelligent, using the tuft on its head to cook food for people and Pokémon. It generally likes to help people. Its temperature increases when angered, the tuft on its head can reach 600 degrees fahrenheit.
‘Okay, here we go…’ John turned to his team. ‘Pansear, try to put your enemies to sleep with Yawn, and use Fury Swipes to get them off the top otherwise. Incinerate works well, too. Tropius, use Razor Leaf to dissuade the opponents from coming to the top as you fly up, and then drop down on the top with a Stomp! Vanillite, blow them down with Icy Wind! All of you, charge for the top, and blow them away!’
John’s strategy might change depending on what he faces.
Erika was to send out her chosen three and possibly talk strategy with them… and eventually.
‘The time has come! Everyone ready!?’ Makirisu asked excitedly.
‘Oh,’ Anise made a noise as Amelia switched Pokémon. ‘Oh, no. A flying ghost,’ she lamented, and she considered her options. However, Amelia did not take her time, so Anise had to make a call. ‘Riolu, dodge! Hide behind a tree!’
Except, the distance to the nearest tree was too far. Riolu leapt, but was caught mid-jump by the Gust, blowing him away with Super-Effective damage! Riolu fainted!
Since this is training, additional experience will be provided.
Yamask grew to level 9! Yamask learned Haze! Drifloon grew to level 13! Drifloon learned Focus Energy!
‘… Alright. I do have one trick up my sleeve, I suppose…’ Anise commented, and she threw another Pokéball… ‘Go, Froakie!’
Pokédex Entry #656 – Froakie, the Bubble Frog Pokémon. It secretes flexible and delicate bubbles from its chest and back which absorb damage that would otherwise damage it. While it is known for a happy-go-lucky attitude, it has astute awareness of its surroundings.
The blue frog manifested, ready to battle.
‘Froakie! Dodge forward, avoid any gusts or other things it throws your way… Then LICK!’ she commanded, and Froakie nodded and skipped forward, frog-jumping while trying to keep his eyes on his opponent while he looked for an opportunity to jump close with its tongue with this Ghost-type move it learns at a low level for some reason!
Anise was way too focused on the battle to give Basil more than a glance and a tiny nod before refocusing on the battle.
This was perhaps the worst place in Isson to find a police station, as this village wasn’t the most organized with people just living out in nature because they wanted to and such. There was a reason why it is the only settlement called “Village”, after all. Nonetheless, after asking some locals he did find out there WAS in fact a station nearby, as was customary in Isson. He found the location, and presumably entered.
It was quite small, and followed the same architecture as the rest of Stillwood Village. Inside sat a single young lady in a police outfit, watching TV. She had a very large, purple dog next to her with protruding teeth. Upon Basil entering she immediately stood up to walk over to him.
Pokédex Entry #210 – Granbull, the Fairy Pokémon. Despite its looks, it is timid and easily spooked. Its fangs are heavy, causing the Pokémon to tilt itself for balance. In exchange, its bites are very powerful. It will usually attempt to scare away a foe by opening its mouth wide to show its fangs. It only bites if it becomes enraged.
‘Can I help you?’ she asked. She’d left the dog in front of the TV.
‘On this side, we’ve got Erika, the “out-of-box thinker”! Well, not actually, but she sure hopes to learn how to! It’s her first time in PokéMania, so give her your support!’ Makirisu called when it was time to present Erika. Just like Colin, he got a little cheer from the people above that immediately started betting on who would win.
And with that, they were going to prepare for battle!
Gibs VS Lombre. It started with Lombre blasting over with a Fake Out, causing Gibs to flinch and also placing Lombre right up in his face. Gibs blasted out a Sandstorm, while Lombre started draining with Absorb. Grass was normal effective normally against Gibs, and it remained so now. Colin then commanded Lombre to Fury Swipe, doing a fair amount of damage… but not as much as Gibs did with a sudden Dragon Rage flame to Lombre’s face.
When the time came that Erika lifted a Pokéball to attempt to snag the opponent, so too did Colin, but it was clear Lombre had taken more damage. That said, with a Snagem Battle, it was really the luck of the draw that called it! First two Pokéballs, each at the other’s Pokémon. The balls shook once… and then CRASH! Both balls broke open at the same time, Gibs and Lombre both breaking out of the Pokéballs!
Next round, both trainers threw their Pokéballs again…
Colin’s Lombre broke out of the Pokéball again! However, unfortunately, Gibs did not! Colin beat the difference of capture-rate by sheer luck! Unfortunately, it looked like Erika was down one in this fight.
‘Colin takes the first battle! Will Erika be able to recover!?’ Makirisu asked, and the crowd was going wild. The ball quickly opened, and Gibs was returned to Erika, but he was officially out of the match.
Now, normally, Erika would just send out the next Pokémon against Lombre, but now we’ve written out all the strategies already, so we’ll do all of them like one-on-ones.
Kay VS Beautifly! Colin commanded Beautifly to fly in for a Bug Bite… which did practically no damage to Kay!
‘Oh, my! What would normally be a super SUPER effective move turned into a complete blank! Did you forget it was an Inverse battle, Colin!?’ Makirisu asked excitedly, and the blank look on Colin’s face confirmed, yes, yes he did. It slipped his mind.
Kay used Swagger, confusing Beautifly while also raising the butterfly’s attack twice. In retaliation, and to use the power-boost, Colin commanded Beautifly to Tackle! … And it worked out fine, powering through the confusion to deliver a painful tackle onto Kay! It took around half her health! Kay took the moment to Topsy-Turvy, changing that boosted attack into reduced attack!
This is where Colin tried to use one Air Cutter to bring Kay’s health even lower… and it did not work! Beautifly hit itself in confusion, for meager damage on account of lowered attack! Kay shot a Psywave, which did towards the lower end of the damage it could do! Erika commanded another Psywave… but Colin decided to try his luck throwing a ball! It hit Kay, and she had to try to break out…
And she succeeded! She broke out the ball, and launched another Psywave, this one doing towards the higher end of damage to the disturbed Beautifly! Now, once again, both trainers were readying Pokéballs, and threw them at the same time! And… both broke out! Next round!
Both trainers threw the Pokéballs again, and now it was just the luck of the draw, something the audience seemed to be loving. Kay and Beautifly both were absorbed into the Pokéballs, as allowed by this particular set of rules. Both balls rolled once, then twice, then thrice…
Then Kay victoriously broke free of the Pokéball, and Beautifly did not! Erika won this one!
Kay grew to level 18! Kay learned Hypnosis!
‘The score is evened! Who will pull out on top!?’ Makirisu commented, and the crowd was looking pretty excited.
Eep VS Sneasel. Colin actively pointed at the creature he was facing and just went ‘What in tarnation is that!?’, apparently not recognizing the ancient Pokémon.
‘Oh, no! It seems Colin doesn’t know what he’s facing! How will he handle the type match-up!?’ Makirisu asked with all her energy up where she was commentating.
‘I mean, I can see it’s a plant, but…’ Colin defended himself.
In lack of any other strategies, Colin started with Quick Attack! Which slammed into Eep and… did a surprising amount of damage! It’s Super Effective! Eep’s Rock-type was working against him! Colin did take note of this! Eep ingrained, healing some health, but not quite as much as the damage he’d just taken! Now, because it was Tackle and Eep has good defense, it wasn’t even half his health, but it did make Colin consider…
So he used Fury Swipes! Super Effective! Sneasel cut with its claws over and over… and over… a bit too many times! ‘Wait, Sneasel, stop!’ Colin called, but in vain! Sneasel cut the full five times and laughed eagerly… a bit too eagerly. Eep fainted! … Eep was healed to full right in front of a confused Sneasel, who hadn’t realized the point of the match was in fact NOT to faint the opponent!
In return, Sneasel got a blast of Acid in its face! Critical Hit! Sneasel stumbled back, looking quite annoyed! Sneasel’s Special Defense fell!
It became another turn of Eep shooting Acid at Sneasel, and Sneasel striking back with Fury Swipes, only three of them this time! Still Super-Effective, but Eep’s defenses held fast! Unfortunately, Acid is quite a low-powered move against a foe with surprisingly robust special defense, so it wasn’t doing a lot of damage! The critical hit and the lowered special defense helped, but only so much! Eventually, however, it once again came to the time where both trainers prepared their Pokéballs.
Eep was absorbed into the ball, but broke out quickly! That ball stood no chance against Eep! Meanwhile, Sneasel, got in the ball, and it shook once, shook twice, shook thrice…
And then it stopped shaking. Sneasel was snagged and out! That’s 2 for 1 on Erika, and we’ll rule it Erika’s victory!
Eep grew to level 19! Erika was victorious! Erika gained 400P for winning!
‘The new blood wins! It’s Erika of Cooldome City!’ Makirisu called, and the crowd cheered.
‘Aw, man…’ Colin made a general expression of being disappointed in how the battle went.
‘Now, would you like to go again, or will that be all? If you keep going and you win, the rewards will be greater~!’ so she told Erika. Her Pokémon would be healed, too.
‘Wait, huh?’ Anise looked a bit taken aback at being given a lecturing by Amelia. She didn’t seem to have expected that. She frowned a bit more as she replied. ‘What… Fighting-type Pokémon love challenges! Being in losing situations allows them to prove themselves against their foe! Returning him now would just prove I don’t believe in him!’
‘Besides, I was tricking you!’ Anise finished what she was saying, looking just as Yamask let out a cry in Riolu’s face. Astonish is a physical move, therefore…
‘Riolu, Counter!’
… So she yelled, but unfortunately for her Riolu was currently in the process of staggering away with a scared expression from Yamask’s Astonish. Riolu flinched!
And because Steadfast had been replaced by Mummy, no speed boost from the ability!
‘Oh, gloves,’ Anise muttered, her mere words having given away her plan to Amelia.
“Tormented” is a bit much of a description of it. More like, why risk it if it could be worse than they were prepared for? In any case, Ronin and Miko let Penny work on the Grief Seed.
Penny not being able to break into it yet because Wonderland was at their doorstep made sense, there were more important things to examine. Sharing function, but the possibility of it doing anything harmful or beneficial was low? Okay, then! Ronin was convinced with that! Penny probably had good reason to say so!
Miko, though, wasn’t. So if they got it back, they buried the seed back again where they had previously, at the outskirts of town by a specific tree sounded like a good enough location. That, or if it was given to Rose and Iris for examination, that works too.
Ronin and Miko would later show up when it was time to do stuff again. Ready to head for the battle!

Leave her to me. A call to summon all the vassals is suspicious, I need to confirm she hasn't been compromised. However, they should be ready to convene anyway, seeing how the time is approaching. A gathering of the vassals to hold a little speech to them, and increase their morale in letting them see who is on their side. Perhaps I should even bring them to our meeting? Regardless, I’ll handle this. Keep me posted as to what happens on your end.
Mariette sent her message back, before looking over to her ally.
‘Are you ready?’ Mariette asked her.
‘Oh, yeah, bring it on!’ Mayra called out, slamming her fists together, looking very excited. ‘I’m ready to beat some pulps!’ she said, chuckling.
Mariette nodded. Mayra had been a great deal happier since she got to show Xander around. Now, they’d found that Xander had become a dragon able to shapeshift into a boy, and NOT a Magical Boy, meaning his power wasn't augmented by magic, just regular dragon-strength (which is admittedly very strong) that could now be contained in a humanoid package. He still had to live in the warehouse, but it was easier to give him a pleasant living space now that he could be human-sized. Still, they didn't bring him. It was not his fight. He’d just become humanoid.
As did most other agents of Asengav. Lea had determined that this matter wasn't worth them risking their lives, so it’s just Mariette and Mayra here.
Regardless. She had a Pea Princess to visit.
Mariette opened portals, bringing her to Wonderland. Then she sought herself towards the place where the Pea Princess should be at this moment. If she could, she’d like to appear right behind said Pea Princess… but before that, she’d use her portals to seek through the surrounding environment with her eyes, seeking to see if there were any spies or forces lying in wait or anything like that.
If there were any forces, or if the Pea Princess had visitors from anyone not on their side, Mariette would not appear.
However, if she was available, as the message seemed to apply, then Mariette arrived behind the princess.
‘Why this demand?’ Mariette simply asked, stepping out of the portal. She momentarily left Mayra behind, she’d be vital if it became a fight for some reason.
As commanded, Yamask held out the little golden mask as a shield. It worked, Riolu slamming into it and grunting, but as the fighting-type was substantially stronger it did force Yamask back and she still took damage… but the defense had worked. Also, Steadfast was replaced with Mummy. And with that, Amelia gave her second command.
‘Wait, that-’ Anise started with a small objection, but Yamask sent its wave of energy and Quick Attack was disabled. Riolu stood staring, looking kind of helpless all of a sudden. Anise grunted.
‘Okay, perhaps I shouldn’t have said the “only attacking move” part,’ she reflected, Riolu giving a rather defeated little cry. ‘But I won’t switch you out. This is training, not a battle for winning and losing. Riolu…’ she took a deep breath, and then pointed forward. ‘Prove your determination! Charge your foe, avoid the mask, and strike! It doesn’t matter that you don’t know any moves! Just follow your instincts and hit it!’
‘Riiii!’ Riolu called out to his trainer’s determination and jumped forward, intending on simply trying to hit his foe with little punches. Now, despite what Anise said, not using any moves for this does most assuredly matter, as the power will be substantially lower.
‘Hm, hm, hm…’ A young girl with black hair stood scanning the shelves of a convenience store. ‘There sure are a lot of different kinds, huh,’ she commented, as she looked at the labels. She still wasn’t the best at reading. ‘Eh, it doesn’t matter that much!’ she called, grabbing practically all of it one by one and hurling it into the shopping cart to create a mountain of meat.
Two young dragons, a female red one and a male gold one, ran off from the rest of the pack and over a green field. They jumped at each other, gnawed at each other, breathed fire at each other, challenged and attacked one another… yet after it all they made amused noises, nuzzled one another and happily curled up together come nightfall. They’d already decided they’d be each other's future mates. The red one always won their little games. She would surely be the strongest out of all of them in the future.
One day, to prove how strong she was, the red one stood on a cliff and breathed fire at the monstrous mermaids by a lake. Dangerous, since water was their natural enemy. The mermaids lobbed their water bullets at her, but she deftly dodged, and the gold one watched intensely. The red dragon flew around the lake and taunted the mermaids, and then finally landed on a rock.
Had the rock been a trap by the mermaids? Was it just ill luck? Or, perhaps, something darker had acted behind the scenes…
Regardless, the rock came loose, and a surprised red dragon fell plunging into the water, where she was helpless to do anything but floundering. The water-born mermaids descended on her with spears, and it would have seemed like her fate was sealed, even as the gold dragon raced to the edge to roar after her. But, somewhere down there, a dark presence grabbed the red dragon, pulled it into a different dimension…
The next time she opened her eyes, the young dragon was humanoid. And a green fae was telling her she owe a debt to the dark one, Asengav, for saving her life, one she would work eternally to pay back…
‘Oh, yeah, money,’ she commented as she’d reached the cashier that had scanned all her carts of meat. She grabbed the Big Backpack from her back. It was a magical backpack that always contained a bunch of stuff, but among it was always around $10,000 so she’d never run out. A bigger problem was…
‘Er… a line and two circles means a hundred, right? And ten hundreds on a thousand? This is ten, right?’ the girl asked as she held out the strange-looking pieces of paper to the cashier, who looked incredulously at her. She’d never needed numbers in her previous life.
‘Huh. You seriously have none of this stuff back at home?’ Jelena asked, the metal girl peering at Mayra.
‘Yes! All these houses, and technology stuff, we got nothing of it! It’s just us and the wilderness!’ Mayra nodded, with a wide smile. They were currently in a mansion, one of those Asengav likes to provide for his agents.
‘Huh. Well. What do you do in your spare time?’ Jelena asked, checking.
‘Fight! I want to fight,’ Mayra excitedly said, her eyes burning with excitement. ‘Well, that’s actually all the time! I didn’t really have “spare time” before now. I couldn’t even speak until I transformed. Back where I come from, we don’t have… anything like this, really…’ she admitted, looking around a bit
‘… Huh,’ Jelena said. She then waved her big metal arm. ‘Hey, come. I want to introduce you to some things,’ she said, standing up and walking off. Mayra, curious, walked after like a curious puppy.
…
‘What is this…?’ Mayra asked, amazed, looking at the colorful pictures on the screen and down at the weird contraption with buttons and sticks that had been placed in her hands.
‘It’s a video game. You control your character on the screen using the thing in your hand. Different buttons and sticks do different things that you’ll have to learn. See it as a challenge,’ Jelena said, looking on curiously.
‘Alright…!’ Mayra called, her eyes lighting on fire as the word “challenge” reached her ears.
…
‘Wait, the food is just… DELIVERED to us? No hunting!?’ Mayra asked, initially seeing this as very disappointed as she sat untransformed opposite a transformed Jelena in a restaurant, and a dish was placed in front of her by a server.
‘Just try it,’ Jelena said. Mayra, doubting the authenticity of it, grabbed the piece of meat on her plate (with her hand) and stuffed it into her mouth.
The next second could have been artistically depicted with rainbow waterfalls dripping out of her mouth and her eyes having become stars.
‘It’s called “cooking”. The art of making food as delicious as possible. I guess you didn’t have that in your world, either?’ Jelena asked with a smirk.
‘We…’ Mayra sobbed. ‘We did not!’
…
‘What is that?’ Mayra asked, frowning as she pointed at what a bunch of kids did over there.
‘Oh, they’re playing soccer. It’s a game where you divide into two teams, and you try to shoot the ball into the opposing team’s goal. You see how they’re wearing different color shirts, and are trying to… why… why are you laughing?’ Jelena asked, looking over where Mayra was practically breaking down in laughter.
‘This world is amazing,’ Mayra eventually said.
‘Er… Let’s see…’ the girl said, keeping a piece of meat in a pan. She was now in a kitchen. In her hand she held a book about the art of cooking, and she was trying to figure out how to make it delicious. Which was a problem because… ‘That’s an S. Er… salt? I think this says salt. Or is it sugar? Eh, I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be great!’ she said, putting the book aside and grabbing a can of seasoning and emptied it onto the meat.
It then spontaneously lit on fire for no apparent reason. ‘AAAAAAAH!’
Mayra had managed to talk Lea into letting her go back to her original world.
In dragon-form, she climbed up a mountain-side up to where her pack were resting. When their eyes fell on her… they reacted. There wasn’t a celebration or anything, but fire was breathed into the air and roars were made. She’d just proven that, whatever happened, she’d managed to survive on her own and that gained her respect. Mayra-dragon roared back, and went in among numerous dragons that wanted to smell her. She smelled odd. The giant dragon resting on the mountainside was unconcerned.
But one dragon, he was more interested in her return. The gold dragon, he dashed for her, and she dashed for him when she saw him. They nuzzled, proving they were still a couple. Mayra gave a noise to follow her. He did.
When they were alone… she shrunk. She showed him the tiny humanoid form she’d gained, spreading her arms to show herself off. The gold dragon glared, both in surprise and in disapproval. Smaller generally meant weaker, and he couldn’t understand why she seemed so excited. Mayra tried making many happy dragon-calls, but their extremely primitive ways of communication, that of mere intelligent beasts, was unable to convey just what Mayra had experienced. But she made it clear, she wanted him to follow her.
The gold dragon was not convinced. She was so different now. She was a completely different species. In fact, he wasn’t sure if he could still love her like this. That tiny form was so not attractive (to a dragon).
‘Hi, Georgie!’ Mayra called, now transformed, her hair on fire and tail swinging as she approached her dragon in the warehouse she was keeping it in with a cart full of meat. The golden dragon she called “Georgie” slumbered, curled up in a sleeping position, lying there in place absolutely massive in the midst of the flat warehouse floor. He did not react to her approaching.
‘I tried cooking your food again. I’m not very good at it, but it should taste better like this! It’s the art of humans!’ the in-comparison tiny dragon girl said as she tipped over the cart and a pile of half-burned meat-products fell into a pile onto the floor! ‘Right, onto today’s lesson on why being in this world is great!’ Mayra announced, walking to stand in front of her dragon.
‘I just tried boxing! Like, it’s a game, and you stand in a pose like this,’ Mayra took a boxing-pose. ‘and then you try to knock the other competitor to the floor with just punches!’ she aimed a couple jabs into the air. ‘If you were like me, you could also experience this fun, along with everything else the human world has to offer! There’s so many challenges out there that just aren't there in our world! Don’t you agree that sounds just amazing?’
Georgie opened his mouth slowly, exhaling a warm air of annoyance…
Mayra punched a magical girl in the cheek, smashing her across the room and definitely knocking her out as she slammed into a brick wall. By her side, Jelena had just successfully dropped a heavy weight on her opponent’s head as she’d locked up her weapon with her claws. Another dimension well on the way of being conquered for Asengav.
‘Jelena,’ Mayra called her friend’s attention. ‘I’ve been thinking about something.’
‘What?’ Jelena answered, using her power to recollect her metal.
‘I’m the only one like me out here, aren’t I?’ she asked.
‘Well, yeah. You’re a dragon that’s turned into a magical girl. Can’t get much more unique than that,’ Jelena noncommittally replied. A silence hung over the scene for a second, and then…
‘I… want the rest of my pack to follow,’ she said.
‘What, into Asengav’s servitude?’ Jelena asked with a scoff.
‘Er, not that,’ Mayra said. ‘But living out here has shown me that there’s so much more to the world! The lives they live in my world are so dull in comparison. I want to show them… all of this. I want us as a species to see this world, have fun, and continue existing alongside this fun world. I just want to have more dragon-humans around to share this all with, alright?’ she said, sounding so excited.
‘That’s proooobably gonna be pretty hard,’ Jelena commented. ‘They’re a pack of dragons, right? They’re pretty happy with the majestic life they’re living. People would also freak out if you brought a bunch of dragons here. There’d definitely be a shock. Not to mention, the power to turn dragons into girls is, heh, out of your reach, I would say,’ Jelena said. Mayra thought hard about what was said…
‘I got it,’ Mayra said with conviction.
‘Hah? Got what?’ Jelena asked, rightfully confused.
‘WOA-!’ Mayra leapt into the air above Georgie’s giant claw that had been just about to mush her into paste. ‘Playing extra wild, today, are we!?’ Mayra called to the angry dragon. ‘I don’t mind. I love some rough play-fighting!’ she called again, just as she leapt above Georgie’s enormous bite. To counter, she blasted a jet of fire behind her so she could deliver a massive spinning kick onto his snout…!
‘HYA!’ Mayra kicked down with immense force and Georgie’s head slammed down into the floor with enough force that the rest of his giant body briefly became airborne. It was too much, and he slumped onto the ground, knocked out for now. Mayra landed next to him, panting heavily. ‘Looks like I win again, eh?’ she said, chuckling. ‘Man… can’t you… I don’t know… grow fond of me again or something already?’
‘You want to take a dragon with you to your next assignment,’ Lea, the fae-like leader of the agents of Asengav asked, narrowing her eyes at the dragon-girl.
‘Yeah! He can be like a giant guard-dog, protecting valuable items!’ Mayra said, excitedly. It’s the only way I can get a dragon with me to a civilized world. I can’t cross dimensions myself.
Mayra sat tensely at a table, her arms straight and holding tightly onto her legs under the table, while Lea sat leaned back on the opposite side. On Lea’s side of the table was a small cup of tea.
‘It hasn’t escaped our notice that the dragon in question is the same one you’ve forged a close bond with in your previous life,’ Lea said, her eyes eternally narrowed.
‘Don’t worry! I can take care of him!’ Mayra assured, nodding her head quickly. I’ll take him with me, and I’ll show him how awesome the civilized world is! And, of course, if I can only pick one, it must be him!
‘You are aware that we’re going to have to confine him somewhere, right? A big dragon flying around would cause havoc,’ Lea asked.
‘Th-that’s fine!’ Mayra called. I’ll find some way to sneak him out! You’ll see!
‘And you are aware that, if we so decide to, we might employ him in battle, in which he could die?’ Lea asked, her expression not changing at all.
‘I’m aware…!’ Mayra’s claws tightened on her legs. I’ll do it quickly, too…!
‘I see,’ Lea said, sipping the last of her cup of tea before standing up. ‘I’ll have the necessary preparations made. You better not regret this in the future, Mayra,’ she said, staring judgingly down at the still sitting Mayra.
‘I won’t! Thank you, ma’am!’ Mayra said, smiling so happily, but knowing inside what a gamble she just took on. It’s fine! I’ll convince him how wonderful the world is, then I’ll no longer be alone! It’ll work out! You’ll see!
Mayra walked into a changing room with the unconsumed meat-products under her arm. The room was for workers to change in and out of work-uniform in the warehouse. It was long abandoned, thanks to the powerful enchantments on this warehouse keeping ordinary humans from even inspecting the place, so Mayra could use it to store various toys she’s been trying to play with Georgie with, along with big meat bones and such. All for the purpose of making him like this human world…
Mayra stopped in front of a locker that she was intending on storing the meat in. She silently stared at it, as she thought through what had led her to this point…
‘This isn’t going to work out, is it?’
After the question had left her lips, Mayra began chuckling. The chuckling evolved into laughing. The laughing evolved into a sad sigh, and the dragon girl slowly deflating. Eventually, she settled for just continuing what she was doing, and opened the locker door.
Unbeknownst to the dragon girl, she was about to get a very magical visit from a certain redhead. Before that could happen though there were some unresolved machinations to attend to. Ruby, for all her reservations, found that she and Chloe had a number of things in common. Both were guarded, mischievous, and most of all lonely due to the lot they were given as magical girls. It wasn't like this was the first she'd ever met like this, but they were the first to come up with a clever way for them to stick around and not just be used for their power. And to Chloe's credit she had treated Ruby as a friend, as unpracticed in such a thing as they both may be. Alas, duty called and the Djinn would let out a long sigh. Hopefully her next master would be nice and not beat around the bush too much.
In a swirl of smoke Ruby would retreat to her lamp to await her summons. What she didn't see on her way out, and what Chloe would witness, was the friend book surge with magic and a stream streaked after the Djinn woman. The lamp rattled and shook violently. Creaking and cracking, the bottle would shatter in a shower of sparkles. A shimmering silver pendant would drop to the floor.
The normally uneventful space within the bottle was interrupted as Ruby found herself accelerating faster and faster through a red haze. She felt sick, a sensation she hadn't felt in a very long time. The shackles on her wrists clattered and flew off into the mist. ”What the heeeugh.“ The air in her lungs would suddenly escape as her thoughts became muddled. The mantra that echoed in her head became vivid. “Must serve the master. Must serve the master. Must serve the… people.” Wha? Where did that come from? The mist began to thin and she found herself flying through a field of magical sparkles and stars. The stream of white had caught up and began spiraling around her. By this point she couldn't really comprehend what was happening. Her self, or what she thought was her self was being burned away and replaced by another power. ”Wha-aat’s… haaa-appeeen-niii… Mmmph” Her exclamation was cut off as the magic wrapped tightly around her like a blanket. Hurdling toward a light, Ruby struggled in a magic cocoon.
Mayra would open the locker and a star with a glittering trail would whiz by and spiral around the room wildly. Bouncing off a few walls and lockers, the star would slow down and hover, growing bigger and brighter until it faded away to reveal a woman in a silver dress and red hooded cloak with a glistening glittering trim. Her eyes were open wide and she looked in a daze. Her mind was quiet, or way more quiet than usual. It took her a moment to realize that anyone else was in the room.
Lifting up her hands she noticed that there was a glowing white rod, a wand, in her hand. Standing there awkwardly, something began to dawn on her. It didn't make sense, but she knew she was there for Mayra. Not like she normally would, to simply grant a wish. She was there to help Mayra. To make her dreams come true. ”H-hello there. S-sorry I'm, I'm not feeling myself.” Observing her new garb she was trying to piece together what just happened.
Mayra opened the locker and ‘Woah!’ dodged out of the way as a shooting star came flying in, her mood instantly resetting and also dropping all she was holding. ‘What!? What!?’ she found herself excitedly asking as she tracked the bouncing star with her eyes until it eventually came to a stop… in the shape of a girl. ‘That was…’ Mayra grinned ecstatically. ‘... AMAZING!’
‘Where did you come from!? Have you been stuck in this locker for years!? Is it a magical transporter!?’ Mayra slammed her hands into the back of the locker, excitedly exploring inside it. ‘Wait, no, I opened this before. Eh, whatever!’ she abandoned the locker and spun to her.
‘You're a magical star person! That's so cool! Did you travel far? Are you from space!?’ Mayra asked, skipping forward to inspect the newly arrived, and was also about to poke her on the stomach before…
‘Wait… You're here for me, aren't you!? You came to find me! Why else would you be in this silly room!?’ Mayra jumped back, getting into a stance. ‘Did you come to fight me!? Are you Wonderland sent to eliminate me!? Or just a lonely fighter seeking her next challenge!? Please say yes!’ the dragon-girl excitedly asked while fully ready for a tussle.
While not solely the most excited response she’d ever received upon her arrival, it did jump around an awful lot with theories and accusations. Ruby would put up her hands and try to calm the situation down. ”Wonderland? No no, my name is Ruby. I’m here to grant your heart’s desire!” She covered her mouth after blurting that out. Something had seriously altered her into an entirely different state of being. Heart's desire? What was she, a fairy? Fairy? She looked at the wand again, she pulled down the hood, her eyes darted to the magical sparkles that winked in and out around her. Sucking in a big breath of air the reality began to set in. Somehow she’s been transformed into a Fairy Godmother. ”Oh my god.” She’d say under her breath.
With the briefest amount of time to consider the implications. She was free? The more confused look gave way to a big smile. Now knowing how was a distant second to the rush of emotion that came. She barely knew what to do in the moment and just looked back to Mayra. ”Yes, I am a fairy godmother, here to grant your deepest desire.” Her tone was more melodious as she spoke. She felt like a weight had been lifted and she was alive again. No more imprisonment. Not more skewed thoughts of how to twist the wishes of others. Sure, maybe it was the magic talking, but she wanted the best for those she would bless. ”And from what I can tell you would like a worthy challenge. Am I right?”
‘Uuuuh-huh,’ Mayra first made a noise seeing her visitor be outright confused about her own appearance. Well, maybe she was a new Magical Girl, in which case, okay. Then, though, she introduced herself and wanted to grant her deepest desire. ‘Wait, wah. My deepest desire?’ Mayra took a moment to process that, looking stunned for a bit. ‘Hold on a moment there. Sure, I like worthy challenges, but my deepest desire? What even is that?’ Mayra had to take a moment. ‘… And you’re gonna help me with it? Say that I said my deepest desire is lighting this city on fire. Would you show me where to find the fuel cans so I can do it myself or wave your wand and whoops it’s on fire?’ Mayra chuckled at her own comparison.
Blink. ”Oh uh… hm. Good point. No, I don’t want to do anything that might hurt someone. Maybe I should say I would like to give you a blessing.” That wasn’t quite what she was thinking, but it was probably the best way to convey what she meant.
‘Hahaha! Why'd you come to me, then?’ Mayra laughed a little, then stepped forward and reached out a hand for a handshake. ‘The name's Mayra McCullough! Now who are you, and what is it you do? Explain, please!’
Ruby would shake the hand. ”My name is Ruby.” She took a second to think on how to explain things. ”Ah ha. Do you remember that magical girl from the Christmas event that granted all those magical gifts? That was me. I've been through a lot of changes since then. As for what I do.” Going through the motions, she would wave the wand and a trail of magic sparkles would follow. ”My magic has brought me to you to grant you a wish. One that will truly bring you joy.”
She had leaned down more to Mayra's eye level. ”I sense you enjoy a good fight, which is why I suggested a challenge earlier. But I can see now that you are also lonely. Perhaps I could help you with one of those things.” Reading people was something she'd been decent at in the past. But as a Fairy Godmother it was like she connected with the other person and just knew what it was they might need.
‘Lon-’ Mayra actually flinched at the description, staring wide-eyed at Ruby. ‘Oh, you're peering straight into my mind, huh,’ she commented… then smirked knowingly. ‘Oh, I know who you are! You're the one Lea wants dead! Hahaha! Guess that means she ain't getting any wishes, eh?’ Mayra chuckled.
‘Lonely, huh?’ she then reflected. ‘I mean, I have friends. Jelena, Victoria. Connie, Mia, Violet, Princess.’ MDP, that is. ‘… But you're right. I don't want to be the only one like me. I can't go back to my people, not when I've tasted this world. Yet, I've left my family behind. I'm the only one like me, here,’ she said, sighing a little.
‘That said, I also like epic challenges and fighting worthy battles! So what are you going to do with that?’ Mayra asked, smirking and chuckling again.
Ruby would keep the warm smile. ”I read your heart.” Turning she would look in the direction of the warehouse. ”Hm…” She would move over to and open the door to the rest of the warehouse to see the sleeping Georgie.
For a second she froze, but quickly realized that the dragon wouldn't hurt her at the moment. ”Whoa, did not expect a dragon.”
‘Wait, hold on, that direction is…’ Mayra started, but ultimately couldn’t help but let her move on, because in truth, she wanted more people to see Georgie. And there he was, a large golden fire-dragon, currently knocked out on the warehouse floor. There were signs of battle all over, burned floors and trash from a lot of plastic containers of meat, a few gnawed bones, and a lot of books.
‘Hey, you already met a dragon! Me!’ Mayra said, laughing a little before running ahead of Ruby to then turn to stand so she could look at both Mayra and Georgie at the same time. ‘So, the fact Georgie’s here is supposed to be a secret, you can keep a secret, right?’ the dragon-girl held a finger over a small grin as she said.
”Oh course. That's one of my specialties.” She would look between Georgie and Mayra. She was also a dragon huh? ”Can all dragons change form like you.”
‘Nope! Just me!’ Mayra announced. ‘And only because I got picked by my patron! I’m a dragon turned into a Magical Girl! Rawr!’ she gave a shout at the end and made a playful clawing motion towards Ruby.
”Ah ha.” She began walking closer and looked the dragon up and down. ”I recently became a Patron myself. I have one magical girl under my charge. It would have never occurred to me to choose a dragon.” She put her hands on her hips. This part of the job felt much more comfortable. The whole goodie goodie part was still jarring though.
‘Oh, you’re a Patron...!’ Mayra’s eyes widened a bit. Because, the only Patron she knew was her own, and that put the being before her on a whole different power-scale to her. ‘Well, this is Georgie, my boyfriend! I’d tell you to be careful around him, but I guess you’re gonna be just fiiiine,’ Mayra said, and then walked in close to Ruby. Very close, for someone whose hair was on fire. Specifically, she was this close to use her nose to sniff on Ruby, curious if a Patron had a specific smell or not. If allowed, the dragon-girl would also smell up and down her out of curiosity.
Ruby did not stop the girl. Prior to a few minutes ago, the patron likely would have smelled of smoke and fire as well. Now Mayra would find it was more like a meadow of flowers. A very calm and soothing scent and extremely different to what she was used to. ”Do you think Georgie would like to be a magical boy as well?”
Mayra was just smelling bunches of flowers. Curious, really. Then, she asked that. Mayra flinched back up, instinctively taking a step back, looking at Ruby wide-eyed.
‘I…’ she spoke a single word, then looked over at Georgie, then back to Ruby. ‘I… really hope so,’ she said, in a far more vulnerable tone. Her gaze went from Georgie and back to Ruby again. ‘He’d probably hate it to start with… given… everything… but it’d make talking to him a lot easier! From there, I could convince him…!’ she said, getting a smirk back, but her expression kept sneaking back to a vulnerable expression wondering if this woman was serious in what she was implying or not.
Nodding along, Ruby would look back at Georgie. ”We'll let him try it out, and he can decide if he likes it or not.” Waving the wand in her hand, a stream of magical sparkles began to swirl around the restrained dragon. He began to shrink down and his form would shift to a more humanoid shape in a matter of seconds. Despite being knocked out, the change would likely wake Georgie from his stupor.
Mayra stared, wide-eyed, as the magic sparkles swirled around the massive dragon. The shape shrunk down… and… what now was there was a male dragon-human, who was lying down on the floor on his side. Just like Mayra, he had black scales, the claws at the end of his hands and feet, but his fiery hair was more golden than red. He had a tail, just like hers… he’d become another of her species, and he was waking up. He sat up slowly, his eyes looking down on his shape, alarmed that it seemed to be his body. He looked up questioningly towards Ruby.
‘W-’
And then he got Mayra’s full weight launched into him in an intense glomp, knocking him back onto the floor but now he had Mayra lying on top of him with her arms around him, screaming happily.
‘AAAAAAAAAAAAH!’ she yelled out so happily. ‘YOU’RE LIKE ME! YOU’RE JUST LIKE ME! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH…!’ Clearly, she was utterly unable to contain it, shaking her legs up and down kicking the floor and also rubbing her cheek against him and definitely not staying still in the one-sided hug she was giving him. The guy had to take a moment to process everything.
Stepping over, while Mayra was pounced on Georgie, Ruby would wave her wand around playfully before tapping it lightly against Mayra's head. ”And for you. Boop!” The iron is grip of Asengav's brainwashing would waiver as the Godmother's magic began to interfere. If the two were going to make a decision, then they should both be free to do so.
Even as she was hugging Georgie's body under her, even as she was this happy, internally she slightly lamented she couldn't truly use this, for her soul still belonged to Asengav, and she had to serve him until-
‘Wha-’ Mayra felt the touch to the back of her head and launched back up on her feet, placing a hand on the back of her head. ‘What did you-’ Then her eyes widened, as she realized. The ever-present knowledge that she was always going to serve Asengav, that unbreakable fact…
It wasn't there.
‘What… did you do?’ Mayra asked, as this was very shocking to someone who didn't even know she was mind-bent.
‘Why is everything so large…?’ Georgie mumbled on the ground over there, lifting his eyes to stare at his new arms. ‘No… This can't be… I'm a big, powerful creature… not…’ He's just going to be there for a bit.
Ruby smiled brightly to Mayra. ”I'm helping you achieve your dreams. And you can't do that if you aren't able to think for yourself.” She clasped her hands together. ”I can feel that my magic is waning though. Transforming a dragon takes a lot out of you.”
‘Think for myse- I don't get it,’ Mayra said, ‘But… you're going for THAT dream?’ Mayra looked back and forth between Ruby and Georgie. ‘Oh. Wow. Uh,’ she looked to Ruby. ‘What's the catch? Do I serve you, now? I don't think mister Asengav would like that…’ she said, without the statement being due to mind-bending.
‘Wait, Georgie! I must tell him, now that we can talk!’ Mayra leapt over to Georgie, grabbing one of his arms to pull him onto his feet. ‘Listen, Georgie! I wanted to-’
Georgie's eyes locked with Mayra's for the first time since transforming, and his expression twisted in rage. Before she realized why Mayra suddenly found her face slammed by a fire-powered fist pushing with enough power to launch her straight across the room and rolling several times before slamming into the wall.
‘… I am not "Georgie",’ he simply stated, standing breathing a bit heavily in a post-punch pose.
‘Ow,’ Mayra said over there. Enough to announce she was actually quite fine.
Seeing as Mayra was relatively unfazed by the punch, Ruby glanced back over to Georgie. ”Hm. Well it seems like you have some things to work out amongst yourselves.” She stood awkwardly for a moment. The excitement of granting the young dragon’s desire got the better of her. Undoing it didn’t quite feel right either though. Magic began to shimmer around the new Godmother. Her job here was done and she must be off. ”Uh, I don’t think I have much longer here. Any questions… ”
The magic began to float around. A small table chair in the corner popped up and over to the three, slowly transforming into a full size loveseat. Mayra and Georgie would find themselves lifted up by the magic and sat down next to one another in the new comfy seat. ”for me?” Ruby looked a little confused. She wasn't leaving?
Mayra was just about looking up in surprise that Ruby wasn’t going to be sticking around, when…
‘Hu-!?’ ‘Wa!’ the two dragon-people were picked up by magic and put down next to one another in the sofa-like thing next to one another, and they were currently too stunned to consider the fact they were put next to one another.
‘Woah. What’s this!? Why’s this!?’ Mayra asked, utterly stunned and feeling the fabric under her with her hands. The boy was a little bit too stunned to react properly, but he did not he was very close to Mayra all of a sudden.
”Well, this is new.” Looking between the two, a recollection would come. We'll now, this could be tricky. She would step closer to them. But first she would look to Georgie. ”Sorry, I don't believe we had the chance to be properly introduced. My name is Ruby.”
‘Uh, hello, Ruby,’ he replied, calming down decently fast. ‘I am… a hunter. I don’t have a name. The world I came from does not have names.’
‘Aw, you didn’t like “Georgie”?’ Mayra looked momentarily sad and then brightened up substantially. ‘That’s fine! Now that you can talk, you can pick your own! I picked Mayra McCullough for myself! I can’t wait to show you-’ Mayra happily gushed, notably annoying the boy next to her.
”Mhm mhm. Well it is pretty common for people here to have a name. And if you want to go anywhere else but here then it would be a good idea to pick something.” She gestured to the warehouse that Georgie had been relegated to.
‘I’ll… think of something,’ he replied, apparently understanding but not entirely grasping it. Names was something they never needed before.
‘Oooh! How about John? Gregory? James? Sven? Adam?’ Mayra asked, coming up with eleven or more possibilities in a short span of time.
‘I don’t really want suggestions from you right now,’ Georgie replied, not very receptive to Mayra’s attempts.
Tapping her chin slightly, it was clear that there was tension between the two. This might take a while to get them to cooperate in any way. After a bit an idea came to her. ”Maybe we need a change of scenery.” Waving her wand. In a swirl of sparkles the three of them would be transported outside to a quiet forest. The protective magic meant to keep Georgie contained wasn’t triggered, at least for now.
‘Oh,’ the boy dragon made a noise as the scenery changed. ‘This feels… better,’ he said, looking around at the nature around them.
‘Wow, can you take us anywhere with that!?’ Mayra asked excitedly.
”Uhm, perhaps. This felt like the right place to go.” Ruby was still feeling out this magic. It functioned a little bit like her old magic, but with a very strong positive slant and focus on a single goal.
‘Right…’ the dragon boy said, considering something… ‘Right, but let’s get one thing clear. I don’t want to be here. I want home, to my world. The only reason I’m here is because you dragged me here,’ he said, frowning towards Mayra.
‘Yes!’ Mayra said, smiling so happily at him. ‘Because this place is AMAZING and I can finally tell you all about it…!’
‘Did you not hear what I just said…?’ he grunted back at her, looking like he was getting fed up with Mayra once again…
”Now now. If you're going to be in this world then it would be a good idea to fit in. And Mayra… ” She would wave a hand over to the dragon girl. ”Is here to help you with that.” She would offer in an attempt to smooth things over.
‘I don’t… WANT to fit in,’ the boy objected as nicely as he could. ‘I want to go home.’ he said, still frowning.
‘You say that NOW, but when I show you all the food you can eat, all the games you can play, it’ll be so much cooler…!’ Mayra shouted about excitedly, and he very decidedly ignored her looking at Ruby instead.
”Ah well, I’m not sure I can accomplish that. My magic doesn’t extend that far unfortunately. So for now my goal is to make things as comfortable for you as possible.” She would try and give a reassuring smile.
He breathed in gently, taking what Ruby said into consideration. ‘Alright. What should I do?’ he asked her, while Mayra raised both hands with a cheer next to him.
That was not necessarily an easy question to answer. It could already be tough enough becoming a magical boy or girl as is. Coming from a different world where things were entirely different just added to the complexity. Glancing at Mayra for a moment she would step over and pull her to the side. ”Give us a moment please.” Taking the dragon girl out of earshot, Ruby would stand in front of Mayra. ”Alright Mayra. So I’ve gotten you this far. Now it’s up to you if you want this to work. And I think the first step is just being honest and open. Explain what you did and why. It will probably take some time for him to process everything, but I see it working out much better that way.”
The boy nodded to needing a moment, while Mayra looked a bit confused. However, with some explanation, Mayra had to take a moment and consider. ‘What I did and why, huh. Honest and open…’ she repeated the words, letting them sink in. The dragon-girl took a deep breath, and… ‘Alright, I’ll see what I can do.’ She clearly wasn’t as confident with that, but she could try, yeah.
When they came back, Mayra had her fists clenched and had a focused expression, not smiling, clearly different from how she was all smiles earlier. The boy looked surprised at this, it clearly got his attention.
Eventually, Mayra took a deep breath, and focused on him.
‘Alright, so… What I wasn’t able to tell you when we couldn’t understand each other…’ Mayra said, looking now earnestly towards the dragon boy. He was taken a little bit aback, but kept his focus on her.
‘When I came to this world, I realized what a tiny world we lived in. We just live our tiny little lives without knowing about the great world that exists beyond our corner. There’s so much more to existence than just hunting and eating. When I learned, the first thing I wanted to do… was bring you with me,’ she said.
‘But, I had no way of telling you! Up until a moment ago, you couldn’t speak! I had to go through multiple hoops to somehow convince them, the ones that brought me here, to let me bring you to this world. I wanted to show you how great it is, somehow, and the first part was getting you here, even though it was by force. I realize you hated that, and I’m sorry, but I had to count on that we’d one day get an opportunity… like this!’ Mayra gestured at how he looked now.
‘I wanted to bring my family with me to this world, and make a place for us here. But, the only one I could bring was you. I realize it isn’t what you wanted, but I lacked the ability to speak with you. Now that I can… Could you please give this world a chance? If you say no after this, I swear I’ll find a way to get you back to our world, but… if our love in the previous world meant anything to you… Would you please give me a chance? Please?’ she said, clutching her hands together while looking pleadingly at him.
He sat there, unmoving for a bit. This was a different side of Mayra, than the one that had more or less been torturing him by forcing him to stay in this warehouse and fighting him when he attacked her… It took a few seconds, but he finally sighed, nodding to hear.
‘Alright. I’ll give you a chance,’ he said, in a still weary tone. Mayra’s face brightened up like a thousand lights and she launched herself at him.
‘Georgie….!!! Thank you…!!!’
Except, he grabbed her face before she came into contact with him, stopping her and leaving her hands flailing.
‘I’ve not forgiven you, yet, though. But I will be giving you a chance. And I am not “Georgie”,’ he claimed. He looked over at Ruby.
‘What’s a name that belongs to someone mighty? Perhaps a great hunter, or someone respected by many…’ he asked, looking serious.
‘Oh! That’s Penny!’ Mayra claimed into his hand, all excited.
‘I’m not asking you,’ he stated very plainly.
Listening to the exchange, Ruby was nodding in approval when she was addressed. A name? Well let's see. There are a number of historical figures that came to mind. One stuck out given the request. ”The most famous warrior I can think of is Alexander. He is a historical figure and well known for his success in conquest around the world.” She would offer.
‘Alexander…’ he took a deep breath, and then nodded. ‘Alright. From now on, I will be-’
‘Xander!’ Mayra called, happily.
‘What?’ He looked at her with another annoyed glare.
‘Alexander is too long to say! You’re gonna need a nickname! You can still be named Alexander, but save the long name for important occasions! You’re gonna need a last name, too, so for instance, in an important moment, you can say “I am Alexander Oleander!” or so, but when talking normally, you can just say “I’m Xander”! You can keep your full name for important moments…! Besides, we already have an “Alex” in town!’ she explained, grinning happily.
‘My last name is not “Oleander”,’ he said.
‘It was an example!’ Mayra replied with a giggle. ‘I mean… you can take my last name if you wish, we can share~’ she then said, looking extra bashful all of a sudden.
He gave Ruby a look if she had anything to say about what Mayra just said.
”Xander is a good idea. Many people have a name they use in more casual settings.” Time to get
‘Alright. Alexander, nickname Xander it is,’ Xander said.
Clapping her hands together, Ruby would beam. ”Excellent! I’m so glad we were able to work that out.” She could feel her magic make a shift. A couple twinkles winked into view. ”Eh, I don’t know how much longer I’ll be around. I’m counting on you two to behave.”
‘Absolutely! I won’t waste this chance!’ Mayra called, and Xander nodded towards her. ‘Thank you so much for your- oh Mariette!’ Mayra suddenly blinked in surprise as she looked right past Ruby.
Behind Ruby, emerging from a portal, was a slightly wide-eyed Mariette, in full dress, with eyepatch and holding a stuffed rabbit and all. After all, the room where Mayra kept Georgie was under surveillance, Mariette had received a call pretty quickly.
‘R…’ Mariette took a breath. ‘Ruby, that’s what you go by now, right…?’ she asked, feeling a little nervous since her friends were looking different since last time she’d seen them.
Ruby’s attention was drawn by Mariette’s entrance. Gasping excitedly, the woman rushed over, picked up the portal girl, and gave her a loving hug. ”Mariette! It’s wonderful to see you again!” After a couple seconds, it dawned on her that it was probably a little out of character for her and gently set Mariette back down. ”Sorry. I’m not quite myself after… actually I’m not entirely sure what’s happened, but I’m no longer bound by Djinn magic.”
‘Oh!’ Mariette made a surprised little noise at being picked up, not an experience she was used to these days. She recalibrated and gently hugged back, breathing in a bit as she was let down. ‘You’re not…? And you don’t know what happened? It just happened?’ Mariette asked, looking curious. ‘But… Is it better? You do look happier…’ she wasn’t entirely sure if she was imagining it or not.
Mayra meanwhile leaned in and started whispering to Xander about who Mariette was, the dragon-boy slowly nodding.
”I think it’s better.” With a wave of her hand her magic wand would reappear. ”I think I’m a like a fairy godmother now. That’s an educated guess. From one wish granter to another. Being a Djinn comes with a lot of strings. This is more freeing and for some reason I feel all bubbly.” She shrugged a little bit.
‘That’s good!’ Mariette outburst and was kind of surprised she had it in her. With that, she leaned in to hug her friend again. Albeit, it was actually a cover for her wanting to whisper something in Ruby’s ear that she didn’t want overheard. ‘Deni and Eli are free now. No longer enslaved. I’m going to join them… but I have a couple things I need to take care of first. After that, we can hang out more. Does that work?’
Ruby responds, but doesn’t address directly what Mariette said. ”It’s very good.”
‘Good,’ Mariette nodded and leaned back. ‘I’m going to need to figure out what to tell Lea about what happened here.,’ she said with a little sigh. The one who oversees her and who probably didn’t want Mayra’s dragon becoming a boy. ‘Thank you, for helping Mayra get what she wanted,’ Mariette told, looking over towards Xander over there.
‘Yes! Thank you! I love you! You made my dreams possible…!’ Mayra called out happily, gripping Xander’s arm. Xander, meanwhile, simply looked towards her and nodded, having gained a certain amount of respect for her.
Ruby smiled brightly. ”My pleasure. I hope I didn’t make things too complicated for you, Mariette.” She took a step back. ”Well I think my work here is done. I have a lead to figure out what’s changed me. I’ll see you again soon!” Magic sparkled around her before she winked out of sight.
‘I’m willing to-’ Mariette immediately started saying when Ruby talked about having a lead. But then, Ruby vanished in some magical sparkles. ‘… help you…’ Mariette stood silent afterwords for a couple second, looking blankly at where she was. ‘Good bye for now,’ she said.
Then she turned to look towards Mayra and Xander. Mayra was sitting on her knees, grinning happily towards Mariette. Xander, meanwhile, sat with crossed legs, giving her an expression of “what now”.
‘Well, okay,’ Mariette started, and Mayra cheered throwing her hands into the air. ‘But I am going to have to lay down some ground rules…’ she said, looking towards Xander. There was a whole bunch of things she’d have to tell him…
‘Okay. Low level fight,’ Anise confirmed. ‘To start with... I'm very fortunate that Riolu starts with this move. Let's even the playing field. Riolu, Foresight!’ Anise called, pointing forward.
‘Rio!’ Riolu reached forward with its paws, placing them together to look through them at Yamask. The small Pokémon's eyes glowed gently. Yamask was identified!
‘And now, your only attacking move,’ Anise would then call, aiming a punch forward in the air, the punch ending with pointing forward at her opponent. ‘Quick Attack!’
With that, Riolu braced its legs to blast with considerable speed across the field at Yamask!
Amelia and Yamask could use one move while Riolu used Foresight, then another as Quick Attack was prepared to be used.
There was a bright blue sky, with gentle clouds drifting over the sky. Vast forests covered much of the land below, their shapes gently dancing in the wind. Grass plains, wide and empty, coloured the scenery and in the distance was a vast, deep blue ocean. In the midst of the forest rose a great mountain, grey and brown colouration, rocky and muddy equally. In this land, no humans ventured, no humans lived. This world was one untouched by the hands of technology, here only nature thrived. Here, on a rocky slope on the mountain heading down towards the forest…
A flash of red blasted past as a dragon-girl, standing on a rock-sled coming crashing down the mountainside at breakneck speed, blasting fire behind her from her hands and grinning happily, was partaking in her favourite sport of rock-sledding.
‘WOOOH!’ Mayra cried out as the rock she was riding suddenly hit a giant boulder that was in the way, sending Mayra flying up into the air without sled, but that was fine because she just blast down into the next rock, used an extended fire-claw to slice it mid-flight to cut off a flat part of it and then land on said flat part to just continue sliding. ‘YEAH, THIS IS THE BEST!’ Mayra called, as she swerved right to dodge one of the giant rocks that was coming down raining behind them… oh, yes, did I mention that she was also fleeing a rockfall?
‘How are you holding up, princess!?’ she shouted back, looking back at where her tagalong partner should be.
“Weeeeeheheheee~!” MDP cheered as she rode down the mountain slope on a cute rock caterpillar she’d created. “Magical Dream Princess is having waving lots and lots of funsie wunsie, Mayra Wayra~! (giggle!)” the whimsical girl replied with a happy smile. “Like, Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies this is the bestie wesieist gamey wamey of tagy wagy ever wever~!” she added, even as her adorable mount dodged the impact of a massive boulder.
‘Yeeeeaaah!’ Mayra shouted out happily in reply as the two odd girls cruised down the mountainside, followed by a rain of rocks and a massive, many-limbed super-angry-faced rock-golem chasing them at a thunderous pace throwing giant rocks, because Mayra had intentionally pissed it off just before they’d launched off the edge of this slope.
Mayra leapt into the air as the current rock she was riding smashed straight into another rock that stood in the way, but that wasn’t a problem because she just grabbed one of the rocks that was coming flying from the giant that was pursuing them to use as her new board. She looked down, and…
‘We’re coming up on the forest!’ Mayra called, simultaneously as she swerved to dodge another giant rock, and indeed, this slope was descending straight down into a forest of trees.
“Oooohh~! A magical wagical forest worest~?!” MDP inquired with eager excitement as she skillfully guided her rockapillar around the crashing boulders. “Like, does it have magical wagical planty wanty people weple that Magical Dream Princess can make friendy wendies with~?! Does it~?! Does it~?! Does it~?!”
Mayra cackled happily. Princess so rarely gave the expected answers. ‘If it does for anyone, it does for you!’
Then they rapidly approached the end of the slope that instantly became a cliff-face with an immediate and instant drop.
‘Jump!’ Mayra called, leaping off her rock towards the city of tangly green trees that awaited before them.
Coiling itself like a spring, MDP’s rockapillar shot into the air, before flinging its giggling rider towards the nearest tree. With a wave of her whimsical wand, the tree sprouted a pair of arms, which caught the pastel princess and lowered her to the forest floor.
The rock-golem behind them skidded to a halt, bellowing after them as it stopped by the cliff-face, where it would stand until eventually turning back and going up the slope again. It wasn't so stupid as to enter that forest for a slight.
Part 1: Forest
“Like, thankie wankies, Mister Wister Tree Person Werson~!” MDP told her rescuer with a wink and a playful peace sign salute, which the tree promptly returned. “Oooohh~!” she squealed a moment later, when she noticed that the various segments of her rockapillar had formed a big smily face on the ground near the tree. “Mister Wister Rockapillar Willar turned into a super duper adorable worable rock garden warden thingie wingie~! (giggle!) Like, now he and Mister Wister Tree Person Werson can be friendy wendies for ever and ever and ever~! (giggle!)”
Mayra flew in, catching the trunk of a tree and the slid down, dodging branches all the way until her feet hit the forest-floor. Before them was a large, green, endless seeming forest, some sunlight piercing the leafy crowns to somewhat light up the ground-level. The trees were ancient, massive, and spread wide. There were lots of space between the trees, but also lots of giant vines, giant mushrooms, some giant flowers with red petals… A lot of green.
‘So, yeah! Welcome to my world! There's no humans or human-like people here, just this wild nature and massive beasts! What'ya want do after this?’ Mayra told, chuckling as she started walking.
‘There's the slaughter fields, there's the seas of drowning, there's the soul-shattering caves, there's splattering mountains, there's the inescapable swamp, the eaten-alive snowlands, and we're currently in the consuming forest… and there's more…’ Mayra nodded proudly.
‘Wanna have a look around?’
“Like, Magical Dream Princess would wuv to~! (giggle!)” MDP replied. “Like, thankie wankies againsie wensie for letting Magical Dream Princess visit wisit your homey womey, Mayra Wayra~!” she added with a big smile. “Like, Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies she’d like to see all of Mayra Wayra’s most favorite wavorite placey waceies~! (giggle!)” she announced, bouncing up and down with barely contained excitement.
‘Heheh…’ Mayra chuckled at the colourful girl's excitement. ‘Alright! Follow me!’
Mayra then started walking directly towards that big, red flower. It was so large multiple people could be standing on it at once. As they approached, needing to navigate various bushes and possibly jump some roots, there was the possibility of feeling a little light-headed, depending on how much endurance you have / protection against that sort of thing.
MDP cheerfully skipped after her draconic friend, her playful hops deftly avoiding the various obstructions on their path. That said, she was beginning to wobble a bit from side to side, causing the playful girl to hold her arms out to either side and emit a stream of cute giggles. “Like, Magical Dream Princess feely weelies super duper dizzy wizzy~! (giggle!)” the whimsical girl announced, her skipping taking on a more zig zag pattern as she seemed to struggle to keep her footing. “Like, Magical Dream Princess really likes this gamey wamey lots and lots~! (giggle!)”
‘Haha, good,’ Mayra replied about the liking the game a lot. So, to do something about the dizzy part. ‘For starters, wanna do something about this thing?’ the dragon-girl asked, jerking a thumb towards the massive flower.
‘Its tiny, tiny spores try to put anyone that walks in the forest to sleep. And if it succeeds, heh…’ Mayra contemplated if anything she said about the subject would go through to the girl. ‘Usually I'd have torched it by now and left behind a massive wildfire, but maybe you got something else you wanna try?’
“Torchy worchied it~?” MDP asked with a confused frown as she came to a stop next to Mayra. “Like, why would Mayra Wayra wanna hurty wurty such a pretty witty flower wower~? Like, even weven if it’s not being very wery nicey wicey, you can’t just killy willy it!” she declared adamantly. “Like, Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies we should try and make friendy wendies with Mister Wister Flower Wower~! (giggle!)” the childish girl suggested. “And, like, if we explainy wainy why putting people weple to sleepy weepy when they’re not doing anythingie wingie wrongy ongy at allsie walsie isn’t very nicey wicey, then, like, maybe waybe he’ll stopy wopy and have funsie wunsie with us instead~! (giggle!)” she added, gleefully bouncing up and down at the thought of such a happy ending to their flower problem.
Mayra simply smiled through MDP’s suggested tactics. Smile, as in “this is gonna be interesting”. When MDP finished, Mayra took a breath with a sneaky smile, and…
‘It’s putting you to sleep to make you easier to eat, silly.’ With that, she absently put one of her feet into the ground, and then kicked upwards, sending a large piece of dirt flying straight over the flower…
And the flower shot into the air, revealing a massive green trunk of sorts, and the top of the flower opened wide with a toothy maw that crunched around the mud ball Mayra had just kicked off. Along its body were small, insectoid legs, but also giant leaves, and the petals just so perfectly aligned around its eye-less mouth… which just turned and spat the offending mud-ball to the side, as the creature realised it was not food.
The enormous flower with the toothy maw turned to face its petals and its mouth towards the offenders
.
‘Like a pink and munchy and sweet little piece of candy,’ Mayra continued, smiling happily at MDP. ‘Wanna try talking to it?’ she asked, gesturing to the giant murder-flower that was definitely going to lunge at them in a couple seconds.
“Golly wolly~!” MDP exclaimed as she watched the flower reveal it’s full, terrifying appearance. “He’s, like, super duper biggy wiggy~! And super duper grumpy wumpy…” she added with a frown. “But, like, Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies a little wittle nappy wappy will totally wotally fixy wixy thatsie watsie~! (giggle!)” she declared, even as she began making playful patterns with her whimsical wand, a trail of sparkling pink energy flowing behind it. Then, the bubbly Princess of Dreams began to sing…
“Don’t be grumpy Mister Flower, don’t be angry, and don’t cry~! ‘Cause now it’s timey wimey, for sleepy weepy bye~! Just listen to this songy, and soon you’ll understand~! There’s no place more funsie wunsie, than dreamy weamy land~! (giggle!)”
As MDP continued her childish song, the flower swiftly succumbed to the whimsical enchantment, and soon enough, it was slumbering peacefully.
“Like, Magical Dream Princess is gonna give Mister Wister Flower Wower lots and lots of super duper special wecial dreamy weameys that’ll teachy weachy him to be lots nicer wicer from now onsie wonsie~! (giggle!)” MDP announced happily as she sent an array of tiny cartoon hearts, stars, and flowers to orbit around the sleeping plant, before running around it herself with a rainbow streamer flowing from her wand. In virtually no time at all, the entire plant had been wrapped in a glowing, prismatic radiance. “Okie dokie~! (giggle!)” MDP declared once she’d finished. “Like, what does Mayra Wayra wanna do next~?!” she asked, hopping up and down in childish delight.
Mayra stared in utter amazement as MDP started to sing, somehow putting the enormous flower-creature to sleep with a cute little rhyme. Then she danced around it, and Mayra just folded on the spot and laughed out loud. This was utterly hilarious. Then, MDP returned to the dragon-girl, who had to gather herself up. Now, she didn’t entirely care about the giant flower, but she did want to see if the Princess had a solution to the next conundrum.
‘Bravo, bravo! Hahaha…’ Mayra laughed some more. ‘But, if you’re making the flower nicer, how’s a predator supposed to survive? Also…’ she then gestured at the trees.
In the trees were large, not as large as the flower but large nonetheless, creatures that looked like combinations of bears and bats, sharp teeth and claws that allowed them to stick to trees, and backs with grass on them that maybe allowed them camouflage and/or photosynthesis… and there were quite a few of them. A dozen, at least. They glared down at the flower and at the two girls before it.
‘Now that you’ve put the flower-thing to sleep, how is it supposed to survive until it wakes up?’ Mayra asked, definitely curious as to what MDP’s magical solution would be.
Despite the various pertinent issues Mayra had raised about the flower’s new condition, MDP’s childish mind was (perhaps unsurprisingly) riding a very different train of thought…
“Awww~! Are you Mister Wister Flower Wower’s friendy wendies~?!” MDP asked when the bear-bats were pointed out to her, the bubbly girl innocently skipping over to beam up at the menacing beasts. “He’s taking a little wittle nappy wappy, so, like, he can’t play any gamey wameies right nowie~!” she cheerfully informed them. “Oh~! But, like, you can totally wotally play some gamey wameies with Mayra Wayra and Magical Dream Princess instead~! (giggle!)”
Mayra stared with a happy smile at the innocent unnatural human in front of her that she was pretty sure had just indirectly killed this flower. It amused the dragon-girl immensely. ‘Alright, then,’ she simply said.
The bear-bats, indeed, wanted to play gamey wameies with Mayra and MDP. In fact, here they came launching off the trees, gliding through the air before slamming down with their massive claws at the two girls and also biting at them definitely intending to tear them limb from limb.
‘Haha, you can’t catch me, you can’t catch me~!’ Mayra laughed as she dodged out of the way of their attacks with deft leaps. She didn’t actually want to attack these creatures lest she’d get a stern talking-to from MDP, maybe. Besides, she knew she’d wipe the floor with these woodland creatures. She wanted to see what MDP would do. So Mayra kept her attention on what MDP was doing…
“Oh~?! Like, do you wanna play taggy waggy, too~?!” MDP inquired, her cheerful voice filled with eager excitement as she effortlessly skipped out of reach of the bear-bats’ claw swipes. “Magical Dream Princess wuvs taggy waggy~! (giggle!)” she added, bouncing around the monsters’ blows like she was playing hopscotch. After performing a few backwards somersaults to get some distance, the whimsical girl whirled around, bent over, and shook her butt at the enraged bear-bats. “Nah nah nah nah nah~! You’re too slowy wowy~!” she sang, while looking at the monsters upside down from between her legs.
The bear-bats (not their official name) indeed were growing frustrated with their opponents dodging away and not being torn to pieces by the swipes of their claws. Mayra dodged away faster than they could follow and went off to be by MDP's side. A total of five of the creatures turned to continue pursuing them, striking at them, getting increasingly angry at their taunts.
The other seven, however, turned to the sleeping plant. That one couldn't dodge, and there was a significant amount of salad to eat on it. So they went at it, intending to tear it apart with their teeth and claws so to start eating the chunks of it.
MDP giggled in carefree delight as she and Mayra stayed just ahead of the bear-bats’ claws, yet even in her ditzy delirium, the bubbly girl still noticed that some of the monsters had chosen not to participate in her game and were instead attacking the sleeping flower.
“Hey!” she shouted in angry indignation as she hopped atop a newly-conjured pink cloud and raced over to confront the group disrupting her fun, a trail of glittery rainbow dust shimmering down in its wake. “Like, Magical Dream Princess already told you Mister Wister Flower Wower is napping wapping, so stop bothering wothering him right nowie!” she ordered, glaring down at the monsters with her hands on her hips.
The beasts did not listen. In fact, if she was within range, they’d swipe at her, otherwise they settled for glaring angrily up at her briefly. Then they continued what they were doing, intending to break the flower down into more chewable pieces from the massive thing it previously was.
“Like, if you won’t listen wisten, then Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies you need to go sleepy weepy bye, too!” MDP shouted down at the bear-bats, all while keeping just out of range of their claws.
Morphing her whimsical wand into a cartoonishly large pink mallet, the pissed off Princess of Dreams proceeded to bonk each of the bear-bats over the head, sending them on an all-expenses paid trip to slumberland. “Okie dokie~! (giggle!)” she declared once she’d finished her work. “Like, now we can get backy wacky to our gamey wamey~! (giggle!)”
Mayra and a couple bear-bats that were focused specifically on her suddenly paused their particular game of tag as they collectively turned to watch MDP slam a whole slew of the creatures' companions into sleepy-mode. The dragon-girl turned to smirk at her play-mates.
‘Uh-oh, I think it's my time to chase~’ Mayra said with a sinister smile, and the creatures probably started sweating…
Pang, kaplow!
‘Nicely done! Shall we keep going?’ Mayra asked MDP with a couple knocked-out beasts left behind her.
“Wowie zowie~!” MDP marveled as she leapt off her cloud to rejoin her draconic friend. “You’re, like, super duper good at tagy wagy, Mayra Wayra~! (giggle!) Totally wotally~!” she confirmed with several energetic nods when Mayra asked if she wanted to move on to the next activity. “Like, Magical Dream Princess can’t wait to see what Mayra Wayra has planny wannied nexty wexty~! (giggle!)”
Then they kept going. Mayra leapt through the forest, occasionally looking back to make sure MDP was following her. They passed trees, more giant flowers and more big bat-bears… or were they bear-bats? Those creatures, anyway. However, soon enough, they ended up in a glade within which there was a giant tree. A giant, green tree that dominated the scenery, like it was the queen of trees or something. Mayra stopped, and held her hands aloft.
‘Here! This was the place I wanted to bring you!’ Mayra said, smiling widely. ‘You said you wanted to meet the “magical people” that live here… and well… These are the closest I could think of!’
That’s when they would become visible. From the tree, creatures started breaking off, landing upon their “feet”. They were vaguely humanoid, but made of bark, their arms long and unnatural. Their faces were slightly humanoid, but held no expressions. They broke out through the ground all around them, standing up onto their wooden limbs to glare at the two of them…
‘So, wanna try being friendy wendies with them? Probably try it out pretty quick, they’re about to try to kill us for intruding on their territory~!’ Mayra told MDP happily, as the wooden creatures closed in on their position!
“Golly wolly!” MDP exclaimed, looking rather distressed. “Mayra Wayra didn’t tell Magical Dream Princess that we’d be tresspassing wassing on anybodywody’s homey womey! That’s not nicey wicey at allsie wallsie! Like, Magical Dream Princess is super duper sorry worry for bothering wothering you~!” she called to the plant creatures. “She’d really, really, really, wuv to be friendy wendies, but she understandy wandies if you just want to be aloney woney~!”
Mayra looked initially surprised at MDP’s distressed statement. Then she chuckled. ‘Whoops? Guess I didn’t consider that? Sorry?’ She wasn’t, really.
‘Though, they consider anything they see as their territory, so it’s, like, impossible to see them without intruding on them, hah,’ she continued. ‘Well, look out from below!’ Mayra called.
The reason she did was because a couple of the creatures had put their elongated arms into the ground. In a couple moments, roots were going to lash out from below to cut and/or restrain them where they stood. In response, Mayra merely jumped. The other wood-creatures still approached, those manipulating the roots serving as backline and other frontliners moving up to simply slam them with their wooden arms.
“Huh~?” MDP inquired, before yelping in shock as the root tendrils attempted to wrap around her legs. Leaping backwards on a newly-conjured cloud, she ascended out of their reach. “Awww… Magical Dream Princess guesses wesses this means you don’t wanna be friendy wendies right nowie…” she told the plant creatures with a disappointed frown. “So, like, Magical Dream Princess won’t bother wother you anymorise, but firsty wirtsy, she wants to give you a super duper special wecial apology wology present wesent~! (giggle!)” the whimsical girl added, waving her wand in a circle and conjuring a massive thunderhead above the giant tree. A massive thunderhead with a smiling face. “Like, Mister Wister Cloudy Woudy is gonna give you lots and lots of rainy wainy so you can all grow super duper strongy wongy and healthy wealthy~! (giggle!)” MDP announced, before the storm cloud did just that, flooding the tree and the area around it in a torrential deluge.
Mayra looked up at the giant storm-cloud with a stunned expression. ‘Oh. Well, let's get out of here!’ she said and then very rapidly blasted herself away from the glade. Then, the storm poured down on the tree and the tree-people…
Who didn't react at all. Sure, their roots drank of the water, but they didn't give any emotions, and would still hunt after MDP if she remained. Still, there they were, amidst the rainstorm.
Should MDP catch up to Mayra outside the glade, she was still all smiles.
‘Well, looks like I bungled that,’ she said. ‘Wanna find another colony? Or wanna go to the plains and find something to ride?’ As in, redo this step on MDP's terms or go onto the next step.
Naturally, MDP followed after Mayra when the draconic girl blasted off, her pink cloud once again leaving a glittery rainbow in its wake.
“Bungle wungled~?” the whimsical girl echoed, while tilting her head in puzzlement upon catching up with her friend. “Like, what does Mayra Wayra mean by thatsie watsie~?” Of course, then Mayra mentioned possibly finding something to ride, and MDP’s eyes lit up with the shimmering radiance of a thousand stars. “Oooohh~! Magical Dream Princess would wuv to ridey widey something womething with Mayra Wayra~! (giggle!)” she declared happily. “Like, maybe waybe we could even weven have a super duper funsie wunsie racey wacey~! (giggle!)”
‘Eh, don’t worry about it,’ Mayra waved off at her with a dismissive gesture. Then she grinned happily seeing just how excited MDP seemed to be at riding something, so… ‘Alright, let’s get to it!’
Mayra then leapt to dash out of the forest, tightly followed by MDP.
Part 2: Plains
Eventually, they reached the edge of the forest and emerged. Now above them now was a bright blue sky with idle clouds flying over their heads, and before them was a seemingly endless green plain. Some plateaus and cliffs stood up in the sea of grass, at a distance one could see the edge of the ocean, behind the forest behind them and further to the side was a massive mountain range… but binding them all together was nothing short of an endless plain. Endless, except the various lakes and small gatherings of trees that sometimes stood on them to show a change of scenery. This was it. A land untouched by civilization.
‘Yepp. This is where I used to hunt,’ Mayra commented, smiling over the fields. ‘Nothing here has names. Nothing here has the ability to speak, so none of it was ever named. I didn’t know my species was called “dragon” until after I left this world. Nothing here knows anything but how to kill, sleep or eat…’ she said, almost sounding a little sad. Then… a massive shape in the distance moved. ‘Ohohoho… Look over there,’ Mayra said with mirth in her voice, pointing.
Over there, in the distance, walked a couple absolutely massive, four-legged creatures. There were spikes all over their backs, massive horns, a maw ready to bite most creature’s heads off… It had it all. They were some mighty creatures, no doubt.
‘Oh, yeah… that thing exists, too,’ Mayra pointed, and there was a massive, more feline creature tailing the majestic beasts. It had a swinging red tail, scales all over it with even more spikes, and a pair of massive saberteeth at the front, currently staying low under a hill that barely was large enough to cover it…
A shadow momentarily covered the sun from their eyes, and Mayra looked up. ‘Oh, they. They are tasty. Not sure I’ve ever seen one eat, though,’ she said, pointing up at what looked like a humongous green mantis flying across the sky at a great altitude, with a single little leaf hanging on its tail.
‘Speaking of flying things, look at those! Oooh, I remember fierce fights with those…’ Mayra said, pointing off at the next set of creatures. Flying low over the plains looking for their next meal were a couple beasts with two front legs that ended in talons, two rear legs that ended in paws, and enormous feathery wings keeping it aloft as its bird-like, horned head kept a sharp look around…
The ground suddenly shook as something heavy stepped nearby, slumbering forward making hungry sloppy noises. Mayra turned to look at it, and then smirked. ‘Oooo, maybe we don’t want to stay here. That one’s especially nasty…’
The creature in question was walking on its hind legs, but it was dramatically bigger than the “bear-bats” they’d encountered earlier. Massive claws, massive jaws and an even more massive bulk, hunched forward with a beastly intelligence in its eyes, complimented with what may just be the largest horns of any creature here, the nameless creature took another massive step forward over the plains…
‘Well? Any of these catch your eye?’ Mayra asked with a chuckle.
“Wowie Zowie~!” MDP exclaimed, her eyes sparkling in amazement as she rapidly spun in a circle to take in all the fantastical sights. “Like, there are soooo many wany super duper cooly wooly creature weatures heresie weresie~! (giggle!) Magical Dream Princess likes them allsie, but, like, she thinkie winkies it would be super duper funsie wunsie to have a racey wacey on some of the flying wying thingie wingies, like thatsie watsie pretty witty greeny weeny thingie wingie up theresie~! (giggle!)” she added, standing on her tiptoes and excitedly pointing to the flying mantis-like creature. “Oh~! But, like, Mayra Wayra used to eat those thingie wingies~?!” she inquired, her eyes going wide. “Like, does that mean Mayra Wayra was stronger than allsie wallsie of these creature weatures~?! Does it~?! Does it~?! Does it~?!”
Mayra chuckled at MDP’s statement. ‘Yea. Dragons are the best and strongest creatures here! I was, and still am, the strongest here!’ she announced, lifting her arms up in triumph, and definitely pulled the attention of that last growling monstrosity that was walking nearby. ‘I’d need the wings that I no longer have to get up to that one, though,’ she then stated, looking up to the flying mantis way up.
“Wowie zowie~! Mayra Wayra’s even stronger wonger then Magical Dream Princess imagined wagined~! (giggle!)” MDP gushed, even more impressed by her draconic friend than ever. “But, like, even weven if Mayra Wayra doesn’t have wingies anymorsie, can’t you, like, use your flamey wamies to get up theresie~?” the whimsical girl inquired. “Or, like, maybe waybe turn into a actual wactual biggy wiggy dragony wagony thingie wingie, like you did during wuring that one pooly wooly gamey wamey~?!” she added, sounding more excited by the moment as each new idea popped into her ditzy, ADHD-addled head.
‘My flames are strong enough to shoot me off with a boost when I jump, but not really “fly indefinitely” strong, hahaha,’ the dragon-girl replied to the using her flames to get up there. Then, about turning into a big dragon… she smirked.
‘Hehehehe. You saw that. Yeah, I can do that,’ Mayra said. ‘If I do that, though, I won’t be able to speak anymore. Won’t be much of a tour, then, will it?’ Mayra said and laughed a bit.
Giant beast bear is now walking closer to the girls as they’re talking about things.
“Not be able wable to talky walky~?” MDP inquired with a confused tilt of her head, completely oblivious to the approaching monster. “But, like, Magical Dream Princess thought dragon wagons could talk lots and lots, cause they were super duper smarty warty and stuffy wuffy,” the whimsical girl added, while dramatically holding out the splayed fingers of each hand on either side of her head. “At leasty weasty, thatsie watsie’s what Pastel-chan and Penny Wenny said, and they’re both, like, super duper smarty warty, too, so they, like, totally wotally know all about that kinda winda stuffy wuffy~! (giggle!)” she concluded with a bright and happy smile. “Oh~! Or, is Mayra Wayra, like, a super duper special wecial typey wypey of dragon wagon~?!” the Princess of Dreams asked, her eyes alight with childish excitement. “Like, is thatsie watsie why she can’t talky walky as a dragon wagon~?! Is it~?! Is it~?! Is it~?!”
‘Eh, I don’t know,’ Mayra shrugged. ‘Guess their dragons are different from my dragons, because here, they’re wild beasts, fire-breathing predators that hunt and fight and definitely don’t talk!’ Mayra laughed at MDP’s conundrum. ‘Anyways, did you want to catch some griffons?’
“Like, Magical Dream Princess would wuv to catchy watchy some griffony wiffony thingie wingies~! (giggle!)” MDP declared happily, the whimsical girl swiftly refocusing her painfully limited attention onto this newest topic. “Like, Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies they look super duper majestic westic, and their feather weathers are probably wobably super duper softy wofty, and, like, her daddy waddy has a super duper special wecial coiny woiny with a griffon wiffon on it, too, so, like, she really really likes them lots and lots~!” the excitable girl babbled away with cheerful delight, still innocently oblivious to the steadily-approaching monster.
‘Excellent! Then, first we’re just gonna-’
The giant beast by them now decided to swing down an arm with the intention of decapitating them. That’s when Mayra ignited her fire-magic, grabbing the arm with her enhanced strength and then blasted fire in the back of her arms to just suddenly throw the entire massive creature over her head, and then it slammed onto its back in front of them after having been judo-thrown. Because of course Mayra had tried judo at some point.
‘Loook! Greg wanted to join us playing! With him, we can call the griffins to us! Greg, say hello~!’ she said, spinning the “Greg” around so he was on his stomach. The reason being, that in a moment, the griffins were going to see this floored creature, assume it was injured, and fly in to attack because a vulnerable creature was a prime spot for a quick and filling meal. They’d be coming in hot, claws ready…
“Wowie zowie~!” MDP exclaimed, bouncing up and down while clapping her hands in delight after seeing Mayra in action. “Like, is Greggy Weggy one of your friendy wendies from heresie weresie~?!” she asked excitedly as she skipped over. “Like, hi, Greggy Weggy~! (giggle!)” she told the incapacitated creature with a bright smile, while bending over to look it in the eye. “Magical Dream Princess is, like, soooo super duper happy wappy you decided to play with us~! (giggle!)”
Being annoyed by MDP calling so super-happily into his viciously mad face made “Greg” a very angry boy.
‘GRRRR…’
‘Uh-oh,’ Mayra made a small noise, then grabbed MDP’s arm.
Then Greg roared and threw up an arm to try to attack MDP. However, that was the arm that Mayra was holding, and Mayra in turn was holding MDP’s arm, so the both of them were suddenly pulled into the air with the full strength of the monstrous beast, and of course Mayra let go at the end sending both of them flying straight at the griffins that were flying in with the intention of attacking Greg’s back. The griffons looked a bit startled at the two incoming flying humans.
‘Thanks for the ride, Greg!’ Mayra laughed. ‘Now pick your favourite, princess!’ Mayra said, while reaching for a griffon she intended to catch for herself.
“Weeeeheheheheeee~!” MDP called out with cheerful exuberance as she was flung through the air towards the griffons. “Magical Dream Princess likes that super duper pretty witty one theresie~!” she declared, pointing her wand at the creature in question and sending a sparkling prismatic streamer out to wrap around its neck. A moment later, and the whimsical girl had pulled herself onto its back. “Like, hi, Mister Wister Griffon Wiffon~!” she greeted it with her typical bubbly glee. “Like, Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies we’ll be super duper friendy wendies in no timey wimey at allsie walssie~! (giggle!)” she added, before turning her attention to enraged monster below her. “Like, thankie wankies for the helpy welpy, Greggy Weggy~! (giggle!)” she called down to ground-bound monster with a happy wave, innocently oblivious to the creature’s fury.
As MDP bound and then attached herself to a griffon, Mayra just flew straight into one herself, her arms grabbing it until she could spin around and seat herself on its back. Below them “Greg” roared up at them angrily…
Then it was the griffons’ turn to act.
They REALLY didn’t like having people on them. They shook their bodies, they tried to bite any limbs that were within their reach, they took off and did complicated aerial acrobatics to throw their new riders off their backs, growing increasingly frustrated the more they were holding on.
‘They’re going out of their way to give us a fun ride!’ Mayra claimed.
“Like, they totally wotally aresie~! (giggle!)” MDP agreed, before giving voice to a delighted, “Weeeeeheheheeee~! Faster, Mister Wister Griffon Wiffon~!” she encouraged the enraged creature. “Faster, faster, faster~! (giggle!)”
Despite her mount’s myriad attempts to dislodge her, MDP was having the time of her life, innocently unaware of just how furious “Mister Griffon” truly was…
“Like, that ocean wocean over theresie weresie looks soooo super duper sparkly warkly~! (giggle!)” she observed, pointing a finger at the body of water in question. “Like, Magical Dream Princess would really really wuv to go for a swimy wimy nexty wexty~! (giggle!)”
Mayra laughed, flying through the air on this angry griffon watching MDP be so happy with her own enraged griffon. Then MDP mentioned the water. You know, if you’ve read Mayra’s character sheet, the humanoid dragon’s worst weakness.
‘Sure! How about an epic dive from the griffon directly into the ocean!? Wouldn’t that be awesome!?’ Mayra called. A thought struck her, isn’t that dangerously close to putting MDP in mortal danger? One definitely could have interpreted that suggestion as a murder-attempt. … Eh, she’ll probably be fine~
Unlike Oros, Kate, or Nykannis, MDP had not read Mayra’s character sheet. Thus, she was blissfully unaware of her draconic friend’s aversion to water (and even if Mayra had told her about it during their time at the beach dimension, such information had long-since departed from MDP’s ADHD-addled brain). Yet, Mayra herself had apparently forgotten as well, since she seemed equally enthusiastic about taking a swim, much to the Princess of Dreams’ delight.
“Like, Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies that soundy woundies super duper funsie wunsie~! (giggle!)” she told her draconic friend. “Like, let’s go to the ocean wocean, Mister Wister Griffon Wiffon~!” she told her mount, using her sparkling prismatic streamer to “guide” the still highly annoyed creature over the water, even as she morphed her outfit into a cute swimsuit with a wave of her whimsical wand.
Mayra had her griffon (very reluctantly) fly her over the ocean, smirking as she looked over at MDP. Now the both of them were flying over the vast blue, seemingly calm waves, betraying nothing about what was awaiting beneath the surface. ‘Alright! Now three… two… one… jump!’
Part 3: Ocean
“Weeeeeeheheheeee~!” MDP cried in delight as she released her rainbow reins and allowed her annoyed mount to fling her off with considerable force. As she swiftly sped through the air towards the water below, the playful princess held her whimsical wand out in front of her and waved it in a small circle. A moment later, a massive floating trampoline was conjured atop the water’s surface, its cushioned form decorated with a big smiley face. “Bouncy wouncy~! Bouncy wouncy~! (giggle!)” the bubbly girl cheered, her sweet voice filled with innocent glee as she bounced up and down on her creation without a care in the world.
At the same time MDP jumped, Mayra also launched off her griffon with a burst of fire, making her griffon cry out a bit in alarm as it flew away. Fire burned around Mayra as she fell down…
… and landed with a solid impact straight into the shore next to said sea. She then looked over at where MDP was, and definitely was a bit surprised to find that MDP hadn’t actually hit the water but instead just bounced on a trampoline in the sea. Mayra just bent over and laughed. It was completely impossible to predict what this girl would do.
After about her eighth bounce, MDP finally noticed that Mayra hadn’t actually landed in the water. “Like, what’s wrong, Mayra Wayra?” she asked with a confused frown. “Don’t you wanna swimmy wimmy? Oh…” she added after a moment, her eyes going wide as a horrible thought occurred to her. “Like, did you want Magical Dream Princess to makey wakey a bouncy wouncy trampoliney winey thingie wingie for you, too?” she called to her draconic friend, painfully unaware of any other possible motivations the dragon girl might have had for staying out of the water. Indeed, tears now threatened to stream out of the childish girl’s glistening eyes as she stopped bouncing and plopped down in a sullen heap on her whimsical floating trampoline/bounce house. “Like, she’s super duper sorry worry, Mayra Wayra!” the Princess of Dreams sobbed out an apology. “She totally wotally should have asky waskied you beforesie worsie…” she pouted, the smiley face on her trampoline now shifting to a frown as well. “Magical Dream Princess is just such a dummy wummy when she’s Magical Dream Princess… W-We were having waving so much funsie wunsie together wether, a-and she ruined it allsie wallsie…”
‘Wha-?’ Mayra broke off laughing to look at MDP suddenly crying her heart out. This… just caused Mayra to laugh even more, simply due to MDP’s reason for crying. ‘Oh, princess, you’re such a…’ Mayra withheld her laughter, took a deep breath, then smiled so happily to her. ‘That’s not it at all, silly,’ she said, in a comforting tone from the shore. ‘I just wanted to be out-of-the way so that I could freely watch you play with Linus!’ Mayra happily said.
“H-Huh…?” a slightly confused MDP inquired as she tried to sniff back her tears.
That’s when the surface just broke open as what looked like a giant alligator’s head breached through seeking to eat all of the little trampoline MDP had created, its teeth trying to break through it as it ascended from the deep. Coming up further, it was revealed it was actually an enormous turtle with a very draconic head with angry eyes, giant limbs that could both swim and attempt to tear up anyone it came across. It had come up from straight below, and then slowly crashed down on its stomach to float on the surface…
‘That’s Linus! He wants to play!’ Mayra called from the shore. “Linus” actually just wanted to eat her.
Mayra’s explanation, immediately followed by “Linus’s” sudden appearance, swiftly broke MDP out of her tearful state and into jubilant action. Leaping up to avoid the massive creature’s attempt to swallow her in one giant chomp, the cheerful girl began bouncing from one recently-conjured glittery pink cloud to another, her floating bounce house/trampoline having by this point completely dispersed into sparkling pink mist.
“Wowie zowie~! You’re, like soooo super duper biggy wiggy~! (giggle!)” MDP called down to the monstrous dragon/gator/turtle with a bright smile. “Like, does Linus Winus wanna play that taggy waggy gamey wamey that Magical Dream Princess can’t remember wember the namey wamey of right nowie~?!” she inquired, her sweet voice filled with innocent excitement. “‘Cause, like, you’ll need a blindfoldy woldy thingie wingie for thatsie watsie~! (giggle!) It’s, like, totally wotally okie dokie, though~!” she reassured her new friend. “Magical Dream Princess is heresie weresie to helpy welpy~! (giggle!)” With a wave of her whimsical wand, MDP created a glittery band of prismatic energy, which swiftly settled into place over Linus’s rage-filled eyes. “Theresie~! (giggle!)” the playful Princess of Dreams declared triumphantly. “We can totally wotally start playing waying for realsie wealsie nowie~! (giggle!)” she added, blissfuly unaware of Linus’s less-than-friendly intentions. “Polo wolo~!” she called down, bending over so Linus could hear her better.
Linus didn’t react too nicely to being suddenly blindfolded and then called on. He roared out in anger and dove towards where he thought that MDP was, slamming at her with giant clawed fins, and also trying to dive at her with his maw wide-open to try to eat her whole… with his accuracy greatly reduced on account of MDP having blinded him.
Mayra, meanwhile, fell backwards on her butt and laughed so happily watching the ridiculous scene playing out in front of her.
As Mayra continued to laugh, MDP continued her game with Linus. Every time the monster would roar in outrage, the whimsical girl would cheerfully call out “Polo wolo~!”, followed by a stream of cute giggles. Predictably, all of Linus’s attempts to eat, or even touch her were easily avoided by the nimble Princess of Dreams as she bounced from one just-conjured smiling pink cloud to another.
After a short while, MDP realized that in order to play the game correctly, she should also be in the water. Thus, after apologizing to her new friend, she jumped onto a newly conjured unicorn dolphin and rode it in circles around the large (but not particularly agile) monster. Occasionally, the unicorn dolphin would dive under the waves to avoid an attack, both refreshing and cooling the bubbly girl off. Giggling with childish delight as sparkling sprays of water danced around her and formed miniature rainbows, it was clear that the whimsical girl was having the time of her life. It was also clear that Linus would tire himself out long before the same could happen to the happily hyperactive MDP.
Linus kept thrusting his giant limb-fins after where he thought MDP was, but the whimsical princess danced around him, and the turtle-creature tired itself out over time. Mayra was just laughing over at the shore… when something moved beneath the waves.
A gigantic hand suddenly emerged around Linus and gripped around him, and a head broke through the surface and rose, lifting Linus into the air. The creature that held him was gigantic, vaguely humanoid but with the face of a leviathan. It had a very long, bony body, but with two gigantic hands, and the end of the creature broke into giant tentacles under the water. It lifted Linus out of the water, looking at the turtle-creature like his next meal.
‘Wa-oh. Always a bigger monster,’ Mayra mumbled over there, looking up at the tower that just emerged from the waves. ‘That’s, uh, Bob! He’s a bad guy!’ she shouted off to MDP, mildly curious how she’d react.
“Hey!” MDP cried after “Bob’s” sudden appearance brought an abrupt end to her game. “Like, it’s not very wery nicey wicey at allsie wallsie to interrupty wupty someone’s gamey wamey, Bobby Wobby!” the whimsical girl shouted as she glared up at the towering monster with a look of adorable indignation, her hands on her hips. “Like, if you wanna play, too, that’s, like, totally wotally okie dokie, but, like, you totally wotally gotta put Linus Winus downsie wownsie firsty wirsty!” she added, holding out hope that maybe they could all still be friends.
“Bob” didn’t even going to acknowledge that he heard the noise of the tiny creature down by the surface. Instead he was just bringing the hand with Linus closer to his mouth, and opening said mouth… he was going to eat him.
“Magical Dream Princess said to put Linus Winus downsie wownsie, not to eat him!” MDP yelled up at Bob, her cute face contorted into an angry scowl. Pointing her whimsical wand at the towering titan, she fired a prismatic stream of sparkling hearts, stars, and smiley faces into Bob’s open mouth, while her magical mount shot a second glittery beam from its horn into the hand holding Linus. “You let Linus Winus go right nowie!”
The gigantic creature made no gesture of having heard MDP’s yells, but her blasting a stream of hearts, stars and smileys into his mouth caused him to react, a murmur going through him as he momentarily recoiled. The other blast onto “Bob”’s hand caused him to drop “Linus”, and the turtle-monster fell into the water and quickly started to paddle to escape for his life.
That, however, resulted in this enormous monster now turning to face MDP, and while there was no emotion in that expression, it definitely wasn’t a good thing. “Bob” slammed down with a humongous hand, intent on grasping onto MDP or otherwise just crush her against the water.
Seeing the massive hand preparing to fall on her with the force of a dozen avalanches, MDP’s magical mount dove under the water and darted around behind “Bob’s” mountainous form. When the whimsical girl popped up from the water again, her unicorn dolphin had been joined by several friends, who promptly blasted the giant monster with several prismatic beams of mystic energy.
“Magical Dream Princess and Linus Winus were playing waying a super duper funsie wunsie gamey wamey heresie weresie, and you totally wotally RUINED IT!!!” a very petulant MDP shouted up at “Bob”. “Like, Magical Dream Princess wants you to go bye bye RIGHT NOWIE!!!”
The giant creature of the sea made some groaning noises as the beams impacted against it, turning to glare angrily at the source. From beneath the waves, its tentacles snapped upwards, trying to strike MDP and her unicorn dolphins for annoying it…!
Then, MDP might notice, Mayra was currently in the process of jumping in the air towards the creature from behind. What she was actually doing was using a curse of momentum on herself to slow herself down, then she charged fire-magic into her legs and boosted herself into a new jump. So, Mayra can’t actually fly, her fire isn’t strong enough for enduring flight, but she can do small bursts of it for singular large jumps… then she can just use her curses to make sure she doesn’t fall in between.
Or perhaps she can clear this herself, that works too.
While the towering titan’s tendrils managed to strike several of the unicorn dolphins, they simply burst apart in showers of prismatic sparkles. MDP’s own mount proved far too nimble to strike, deftly darting from side to side and beneath the waves to avoid each attack directed at it.
“Golly wolly!” MDP exclaimed when she popped back up to the surface. “Bobby Wobby’s super duper grumpy wumpy!” Just as her remaining unicorn dolphins prepared to unleash another volley, MDP noticed that Mayra was preparing to help out, too, causing a big smile to spread across the whimsical girl’s adorable face.
“YAAAAY~!!!” she cheered happily. “Mayra Wayra’s heresie weresie to helpy welpy~! (giggle!)”
“Bob”, who was a bit more intelligent than the average monster, noticed MDP cheering at something that was somewhat behind him. He turned his head to see Mayra floating in mid-air over there.
‘Uh,’ Mayra blinked a bit as the gigantic figure’s yellow eyes met her own. ‘Hi!’ she called to the thing, smiling happily.
Bob proceeded to lift a gigantic hand and back-hand the tiny dragon-human with a gigantic hand, sending Mayra flying.
“Mayra Wayra!” MDP cried in alarm, even as her unicorn dolphin sprouted enormous butterfly wings of prismatic energy and shot out of the water towards the falling dragon girl. “Like, don’t worry, Mayra Wayra!” the whimsical girl called to her friend. “Magical Dream Princess will totally wotally savey wavey you! And, like, thensie wensie we can teachy weachy that big meanie weanie head a lesson wesson!”
The aquatic monster watched as MDP shot off on her dolphin with wings towards where Mayra flew… and then turned away. They were far too tiny to provide the nourishment a creature that size needed. Instead, the goliath sunk gradually started sinking beneath the waves as it drifted further out into the ocean…
Mayra, meanwhile, was actually pretty OK. It would have been worse if she'd have been crushed against something, but she was more than though enough to withstand being hit and launched, the impact force had been spread all over her body, after all. She was more than capable of using a curse to stop her own falling…
But instead she just let herself fall, because MDP can totally think she's saving her.
Swiftly catching up to the falling dragon girl, MDP held out her arms for Mayra to land in. “Are you okie dokie, Mayra Wayra?!” the whimsical girl asked, her cute voice filled with concern.
Mayra laughed a bit immediately after being caught, and just turned her head to grin at MDP. ‘Yeah, since you caught me! Everything’s alright now!’
“Yaaaay~!” MDP cheered, giving her draconic friend a big hug. “Magical Dream Princess is super duper happy wappy to hearsie wearsie thatsie watise~! (giggle!)” she added with a bright smile. “But, like, we should totally wotally teachy weachy that meanie weanie, Bobby Wobby, a lesson wesson, nowie!” the whimsical girl declared with a look of fierce determination that still came off as more adorable than anything else.
Mayra chuckled about being hugged, then listened to what she had to say. ‘Well, we’re gonna have to hurry, then, he’s sinking back into the water!’ she called, pointing behind her where “Bob” was half-way done sinking back under the sea and turned away from them.
“Like, stoppy woppy right nowie, Bobby Wobby!” MDP shouted at the submerging titan. “Like, you were a total wotal bully wully and did lots of awful wawful stuffy wuffy to Linus Winus, and Magical Dream Princess is, like, super duper angry wangry with you!” she added, even as her butterfly-winged unicorn dolphin wheeled around and shot back towards the source of her ire. “Like, let’s get him, Mayra Wayra!”
‘Alright!’ Mayra called back, grinning as they headed off towards the giant creature again. Said giant creature didn’t respond to MDP’s shouting, but that’s when Mayra jumped from the dolphin (assuming MDP brought Mayra along after catching her) into the air, and in there she punched forward with an excited grin, launching a fireball from her hand as she did. The fireball slammed against “Bob”’s back, and it grunted in pain. Then, it spun around, now floating with most of it underneath the surface, meaning the swipe it now committed to swinging its giant arm and claws in an effort to catch whoever tried to hurt it was pretty much just at surface-level. Everything too close at surface-level was going to be slammed with a giant arm if it didn’t move.
Thankfully, the only things at surface-level were MDP various conjured unicorn dolphins, who were all far too agile to be caught by the titan’s lumbering attack. “Tee-hee~! They’re too fasty wasty for a super duper slowpokey wokey like you~!” MDP told the creature with a confident smirk, even as her flying unicorn dolphin fired a prismatic beam from its glowing horn in support of Mayra’s fiery attack. “Like, take thisy whisy, you biggy wiggy meanie weanie head~!” she called out to the giant creature.
While MDP had her dolphin blast at the creature with light, Mayra shot herself with a burst of fire to kick “Bob” in the face. The two impacts caused him to growl and collapse backwards, plunging himself into the water to sink away. Mayra, meanwhile, vaulted away from the impact-site to land back with MDP on her dolphin.
‘Yeah! That got him!’ Mayra excitedly claimed. Or so she thought, when suddenly numerous tentacles burst from the water, going high above them to lock them in a cage, as their quarry had simply spun upside-down letting his tentacled “feet” lash out over the surface. Massive tendrils whipped down at them, and all Mayra could do for the moment was hold on since MDP was the one steering.
“Golly wolly!” MDP exclaimed as her whimsical mount darted around with great swiftness to avoid the barrage of tentacles. “Like, since he’s so super duper biggy wiggy, Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies we needy weedy something womething super duper biggy wiggy, too~! (giggle!)” she declared, before a surge of prismatic magic morphed the unicorn dolphin into a massive unicorn whale, which promptly plunged down towards the center of the writhing mass of tendrils and fired a mighty rainbow beam from its much larger horn.
As the giant unicorn whale took shape, the tentacles of their adversary surged to slam at it, seemingly recognizing it as a threat. That is…
‘Hah!’ If Mayra wasn’t punching up and sending fireballs up at them, giving the whale cover as the tendrils felt the pain of fire and dodged in a different direction due to the pain of the heat. Maybe the whale didn’t actually need it, but why not, really.
The beam of the whale impacted the beast beneath the waves, and a loud cry could be heard from beneath the waves. There was but the bright light from under the water, as “Bob” decided this wasn’t in the slightest worth it and the tentacles fell down into the sea around them, sending waves and splashing water all over as their foe swam down into the depths to escape this encounter.
The world above the water slowly returned to relative normalcy. ‘… Hey, I think that got him!’ Mayra tried calling, a little more hesitant this time since last she said it “Bob” had come right back.
“It, like, totally wotally did~!” MDP agreed with a big, happy smile. “And thanky wanky soooo muchy wuchy for the helpy welpy, Mayra Wayra~! (giggle!)” she told her fiery friend, before giving the draconic girl yet another hug. “Like, Magical Dream Princess just hopey wopeies Linus Winus will be okie dokie…” the whimsical girl added with a slight frown a moment later as she turned to look out at the direction the smaller sea monster had fled towards.
‘I’m sure he’s fine! You saved him from being eaten at the last second!’ Mayra said, grinning at the magical girl hugging her. It might be interesting that Mayra’s actually decently cold to the touch.
‘Anyway! We got one more place I’d like to visit with you…’ the dragon-girl chuckled. ‘But this last place is the most dangerous of all of them. In all previous encounters, I was confident I could save you if things went wrong, but in this last place? If things go south, I might not be strong enough.’ Nevermind that there’d been nothing Mayra could do if MDP had gotten dragged underwater. That wasn’t a matter right now.
‘Do you still want to go?’
“Like, Magical Dream Princess totally wotally wants to go~! (giggle!)” MDP cheered, smiling brightly. “And, like, don’t worry, Mayra Wayra~!” she reassured her friend. “If there’s trouble wouble, Magical Dream Princess is, like, super duper positive wositive we can handle wandle anythingie wingie together wether~! (giggle!)”
‘Thought so!’ Mayra said and laughed. ‘Then whatever happens, that’s on you! Let’s go!’
Part 4: Mountain
Mayra had them go back to land and then trek towards a mountain range. It looked somehow foreboding, with a dark cloud above it, smoke coming from holes in the rocks. Actually, maybe this was a volcano. ‘Hey, let’s play stealth! Keep your head low, and don’t get noticed by anything!’ Mayra called excitedly, as she started climbing up some red rocks that were heading upwards towards the top.
“Oooh~! Is that kinda winda like hidey widey and seeky weeky~?!” MDP inquired, her high-pitched voice filled with excitement. “Magical Dream Princess wuvs that gamey wamey~! (giggle!)”
Needless to say, despite “wuving” the game, doing well at it was rather difficult for someone so brightly colored and loudly hyperactive. Indeed, despite pressing herself tight against the mountain side, before leaping from one cluster of rocks to another, her stream of playful giggles and trail of pink sparkles made her a very easy target to find.
And that was before even getting to the “hide and seek song”…
“Hidey widey seeky weeky~! Super duper sneaky weaky~!” the whimsical girl sang as she “crept” along. “Find a holey, take a peeky~! (giggle!)” she continued, pressing her eye to a hole in the large rock formation she was currently sheltering behind.
Mayra climbed a bit up, jumping from rock to rock as well, then looked down and realised just how not stealthy MDP was. As a response… she couldn’t help but just break into a big smile and laugh, even while trying to stay quiet. It was just too funny.
Though, then she jumped down and grabbed around MDP and tactically placed a hand over her mouth, using Darkness magic to hide their location… just as a giant, winged creature swooped by right where they were standing, just Mayra there making sure they weren’t found before it was time.
‘Alright, I think we’ll take an alternate route~’ Mayra said, before jumping and pulling MDP along… straight into the rock. Using Darkness ability to temporarily make the one applied to intangible they went through the rock-wall, and ended up inside a cave. A rocky cave, that would have been dark… had it not been for the river of magma inside it illuminating its tunnels and stones. It was, of course, very hot.
‘You can take the heat, right?’ Mayra asked, gasping a little. The magic to make them both temporarily intangible was rather taxing.
“Wowie zowie~! (giggle!)” MDP exclaimed as Mayra pulled her through the rock and into a magma-filled cavern. “Thatsie watsie was super duper cooly wooly, Mayra Wayra~!” she told her friend happily.
What wasn’t very “cooly wooly” was the cavern they now found themselves in.
“Like, Magical Dream Princess is okie dokie,” the whimsical girl told her draconic friend, even as she changed back into her swimsuit with a wave of her wand. “It is kinda winda hotty wotty in heresie weresie, but, like, she has friendy wendies to helpy welpy with thatsie watsie~! (giggle!)” she added with a big smile. A moment later, a quartet of butterfly-winged spray bottles with smiling faces appeared around the Princess of Dreams and began showing her with a refreshing rain of cool water, while also using the fans built into their nozzles to provide a cool breeze. “So, like, what super duper funsie wunsie gamey wamey are we gonna play nexty wexty, Mayra Wayra~?!” MDP asked excitedly.
Mayra simply grinned to MDP’s question, and also looked at all the things flying around her.
‘We’re going to a family reunion!’ Mayra announced, chuckling loudly. ‘C’mon, let’s go! Let’s go!’ she then called, and she started dashing through the cavern, jumping over various rivers of lava on her way somewhere.
“Okie dokie~!” MDP replied as she conjured a pink pogo stick and began bouncing after Mayra. “Like, Magical Dream Princess never wever went to a family wamily reunion thingy wingie beforesie worsie, but, like, it soundy woundies super duper funsie wunsie~! (giggle!)” the whimsical girl added, giggling in delight as she avoided the cavern’s various obstacles with comical ease.
Eventually, they reached a place where there was a decently big hole in the ceiling, leading straight up into the sky. Mayra stopped under it, chuckling. ‘Alright, princess! I’m gonna go see my family, and you can come too, if you like! Problem is, they’ve never seen me like this, and would definitely try to squash me! They try to squash most things that aren’t other dragons, really. So I’m just gonna change into something a bit more appropriate…’ Mayra said, sighing out in relief as parts of her scales started rumbling a bit. ‘Oh, but…’ she tilted her head and smirked back at MDP before she did. ‘I’m gonna lose the ability to talk when I do, anything you want to say, first?’
“Like, if you won’t be able wable to talky walky, then, like, how do you talky walky to your family wamily?” MDP inquired, tilting her head in puzzlement. “Oh~! Do you use some kinda winda super duper secret wecret dragony wagony sign language wanguage thingie wingie~?!” she asked, her sparkling eyes growing wide at the thought of such a possibility.
Mayra bent her head back and laughed out loud at MDP’s silly questions. ‘Hahahaha… Alright, so. There’s going to be one of them that is A LOT larger than the rest of them. I want you to make friends with him. I’m gonna make it clear you’re with me, but they’re really, REALLY not gonna like you not following the dress code,’ she explained, still with a grin. ‘Speaking of… it’s time for me to change.’
With that, her scales started moving. Two large wings broke out of her back. She grew dramatically in size. Her neck became longer. Her face elongated. Her tail became massive. Her hands and legs became fangs. That is to say, Mayra grew in size, magical energy surging around her until she’d finished the transformation into a giant dragon.
The dragon turned her giant head to stare down at MDP, to see her reaction.
“Wowie zowie~!” MDP exclaimed with gleeful excitement. “Mayra Wayra’s a super duper biggy wiggy dragon wagon nowie~! (giggle!) Like, Magical Dream Princess wants to makey wakey friendy wendies with Mayra Wayra’s whole family wamily,” she continued happily. “So, like, she’ll totally wotally makey wakey friendy wendies with the biggest wiggest one of allsie wallsie~! (giggle!) Oh~! But, like, is there a problem woblem with what Magical Dream Princess has onsie wonsie~?” the whimsical girl inquired. “‘Cause, like, she can changey wangey into her normal wormal magical wagical girl outfit woutfit if you thinkie winkie thatsie watsie would be better wetter~!” she continued to babble, until a small problem occurred to her. “Golly wolly! Magical Dream Princess totally wotally forgot you can’t talky walky right nowie! So, like, maybe waybe you can just noddy woddy if you thinkie winkie Magical Dream Princess’s ideasie weasie is okie dokie~?”
The dragon just stared blankly at MDP for several seconds… then laughed. Or, at the very least grunted multiple times in a row that kind of sounded like a laughter. Mayra shook her head, then just leaned down to grab some available part of MDP’s with her teeth and then deposited the princess on her back. Then she extended her wings, spreading them tall and high, before letting them both surge downwards to propel them both upwards, towards the hole in the ceiling…!
The two of them flew out, and they were in a field. A mountainside field already far up the mountain, beside a massive excavation of the mountain. Looked like something had carved their way into the mountainside until they’d made a home for themselves, and built minor piles of rocks to serve as something to hide inside. They actually weren’t so minor, considering they contained numerous resting dragons. There were dragons similar to Mayra all over this mountainside, and when they escaped the hole, Mayra let out a triumphant roar. Numerous other dragons heard her, looked in her direction, and also roared in reply to her.
There were smaller dragons here, too, wrestling and playing, and they, too, were distracted by Mayra when she revealed herself by flying out the top.
But curled inside the mountainside was a different dragon. One far, far larger than the other dragons around here, which were around Mayra’s size or somewhat smaller. Building a rock-pile for that dragon was simply impossible, so it simply rested in the crevice literally carved out of the mountain. That bigger dragon idly lifted its head to look at the new arrival…
MDP giggled happily as Mayra grabbed her by a pink twin tail and placed her on her back, before shooting into the sky. “Weeee~!” the whimsical girl cheered. “Magical Dream Princess wuvs riding on dragon wagon Mayra Wayra~! (giggle!) Wowie zowie~!” she exclaimed with gleeful excitement a moment later, her star-filled eyes going wide. “There are sooo many dragon wagons heresie weresie~! And, like, theresie weresie’s that super duper biggy wiggy one you were telling Magical Dream Princess aboutsie woutsie~!” she added, gazing in innocent wonder at the giant dragon emerging from the mountainside crevice. Mayra then greeted the group, and MDP figured she should do likewise. “Like, HYIIIIEEEEEE EVERYBODYWODY~!!!” she called with a bright smile while enthusiastically waving her hand.
While the roars in response to Mayra had been ones of greeting, of respect, MDP got a completely different reaction. When MDP shouted her greeting, she instead got numerous dragons somewhat recoiling from the surprise of her being there at all, and then she got angry snarls and new roars that sounded far more hostile than the ones Mayra had received. Mayra slammed back down to earth among the dragons, breathed in, then roared again, this time a bit more challenging. It was worth noting that Mayra was one of the larger dragons here, among the not-gigantic ones.
A regular sized dragon approached from the right at decent speed, claws at the ready and looking hostile… and Mayra turned her head to glare at it, making it stop in its tracks. Which worked on that one…
The giant dragon stared for now, unimpressed.
“Awww~! They soundy woundy super duper happy wappy to see us, Mayra Wayra~! (giggle!)” MDP observed with her typical gleefully innocent obliviousness. “Like, Magical Dream Princess is, like, soooo super duper happy wappy to meet Mayra Wayra’s family wamily, too~! (giggle!)” she told the dragons with a cheerful smile.
Mayra-dragon made another lightly amused dragon-sound, before looking towards that giant one again. The giant dragon stared back at her… before then looking over at a nearby group of three adult dragons and made a grunting noise as it nodded its head at her.
The three dragons immediately spread their wings and took off for Mayra and MDP. As reply, Mayra immediately took off from the ground again, MDP still on her back, just in time to avoid a stream of fire. She then spun sideways, avoiding one of the dragons trying to grab MDP off her back with a claw. They then chased after her, specifically aiming for the princess on Mayra’s back.
“Wowie zowie~!” MDP exclaimed in childish delight. “Mayra Wayra’s family wamily likes playing waying taggy waggy, too~! (giggle!)” Then, turning to their three pursuers, the whimsical girl placed her hands by her ears, wiggled her fingers, and stuck out her tongue. “Nah nah nah nah nah~! You can’t catchy watchy us~! You can’t catchy watchy us~!” she called out playfully. “Like, Mayra Wayra’s totally wotally the fasty wastiest dragon wagon of allsie wallsie~! (giggle!)”
One of those dragons swung in behind the two of them and intended to breathe fire across Mayra’s back. This probably wouldn’t hurt Mayra at all, but for MDP it would have been a different matter. However, just before Mayra waved her wings and looped backwards, over the stream of fire… and if MDP was holding on, she turned her head to just nudge MDP off and onto the back of the other dragon, while upside down. Just because.
MDP gave a surprised yelp as she was dropped onto one of the other dragons. At first, the whimsical girl was confused by this, but then an idea popped into her innocently ditzy brain. “Oh~! Does Mayra Wayra want Magical Dream Princess to helpy welpy her family wamily taggy waggy her to make thingie wingies fairsie wairsie~?!” she inquired with a smile of happy excitement. “Like, Magical Dream Princess can totally wotally do thatsie watsie~! (giggle!)” she added, before using her wand to shoot a prismatic stream of hearts and stars at her draconic friend.
Mayra wasn’t entirely ready to be fired upon by her own friend, and was hit by MDP’s shot… and then found it didn’t do a lot. Still flying flapping her wings, Mayra turned her big dragon head to look quizzically at MDP, then did her little dragon-chuckle.
“Taggy waggy~!” MDP cheered. “You’re itsie witsie, Mayra Wayra~! (giggle!)” the whimsical girl told her draconic friend with a happy giggle, still innocently oblivious to the fact that this wasn’t exactly a game.
The one MDP had landed on, however, was nowhere as amused. Using its long neck it turned and tried to bite her or otherwise knock her off, and if that failed it’d dive straight for the nearby mountain and spin to impact its back towards said mountain, all with the intention of getting MDP off.
“Woah!” MDP cried in surprise as her newest friend made no secret of its desire to get rid of her. “Like, Mayra Wayra’s itsie witsie nowie, not you!” she told the obviously confused dragon, even as she leapt off its back and onto a sparkling pink cloud. “But, like, if you don’t want Magical Dream Princess to sit on your backy wacky anymoresie, she’ll just ride on Mister Wister Cloudy Woudy instead~! (giggle!)”
The dragon slammed into the wall without having MDP on its back, growling in rage as it didn’t look like it was much worse for wear. Now, however, to the dragons it looked like MDP looked like she was without her protector. The two other dragons now chased came diving after her, both of them attempting to chew on her. One came first trying to just bite her, then the other shortly after trying for wherever she was after. Mayra was idly flying above.
“Like, Magical Dream Princess doesn’t thinkie winkie you know how to play this gamey wamey…” MDP observed with a frown as she sped around the various dragons trying to “tag” her on her sparkly cloud, leaving trails of prismatic glitter in her wake.
The giant dragon over there silently watched what unfolded, but if one had eyes that could detect pressure one would notice that something was building within its throat. Just as soon as it became clear the smaller dragons weren’t up for the job, its jaw swung open, a loud outburst of fire surged towards MDP’s location, and that of the other dragons. It wasn’t so much of a blast as much as it was a sheer beam that happened to have fire-properties, and could destroy with the sheer pressure of it just as much as with the temperature of the fire.
“Golly wolly!” MDP exclaimed, the bright beam shooting towards her easily capturing the childish girl’s ever-wandering attention. Sweeping her wand across its path just before it struck her, the Princess of Dreams conjured a prismatic Wall of Whimsy, which transmuted the destructive cylinder of annihilation into a harmless hail of rainbow-colored hearts, stars, butterflies, and soft puff balls. “Tee hee~! That tickle wickles~! (giggle!)” MDP cried in innocent delight, before flying over to the giant dragon that had launched the attack. “Like, that beamy weamy thingie wingie was super duper pretty witty, Mister Wister Biggy Wiggy Dragon Wagon Person Werson~! (giggle!)” she told it with a big smile.
The action of utterly no-selling a blast from the most powerful dragon around caused every dragon in the vicinity to recoil, including the great beast itself. Everything the dragons knew centred about them being the strongest beings around, and the very idea that this tiny creature could be stronger was preposterous. Mayra, flying in the air over there, chuckled happily despite being a giant lizard.
The great dragon would not let this go unchallenged. It stood up, having only been resting before, and did a massive pounce in MDP’s direction. The sheer weight of it would feel like a small earthquake as it hit the ground, and it was trying to squash the tiny human under the weight of its massive feet.
“Like, did you wanna play taggy waggy, too~?! (giggle!)” MDP asked the giant dragon, giggling in delight as she zipped around its mighty stomps on her pink cloud. “Like, Magical Dream Princess thought you were resting westing, but she’d totally wotally wuv to play with you~! (giggle!)” she added. Despite being able to do so, MDP stayed fairly close to the ground as she sped around, over, and under the dragon’s massive form. She wasn’t sure if the gargantuan creature was still a bit too tired for flying, and she wanted to keep their “game” from becoming too difficult for it.
Flying under the giant dragon caused it to stomp frenetically, trying to squash her even more under its feet, and upon that not working it stretched its wings, flapped once to propel it up into the air and bent its neck to coat the entire area with a giant fire-blast breathed out from its mouth.
“Oooohh~! Pretty witty flamey waymeies~! (giggle!)” MDP squealed with innocent glee. Having flown above the giant dragon, she was now watching its destructive display with wide-eyed fascination.
All the while Mayra-dragon was just flying and making noises that were the result of thinking this was looking hilarious…
And then the giant dragon looked towards her. Because it’s intelligent enough to figure out Mayra brought this creature here knowing what would happen and wanted them to make fools out of themselves.
Mayra had a brief moment to look the dragon-version of “OH, SHI-” before she had to spin sideways in midair from the giant maw that just tried to snap her in half as the giant dragon took after her with substantial speed and was now in full predator pursuit mode, with Mayra having to dodge its teeth of certain death numerous times over.
For her part, MDP simply followed along after the giant dragon, thinking this was still a completely friendly game (even if she didn’t completely understand the rules the dragons were playing by) and not a life-or-death chase. “That’s it, Mayra Wayra~!” she shouted, cheering her friend on. “Like, show that biggy wiggy dragon wagon you’re the fasty wastiest dragon wagon of them allsie wallsie~! (giggle!)”
Fortunately for Mayra, she was faster than she’d been when she was but a normal dragon. Being a Magical Girl as well had its benefits. She could dodge the gigantic dragon, even though it was excitement she hadn’t quite been planning on. Soon enough she flew high, and the bigger dragon glared up at her. It wasn’t worth the effort to go after her. Mayra chuckled a nervous little chuckle, as challenging the chief was not something she’d have done before becoming magical, nor now, really. The big dragon, meanwhile, glared up at her…
Before turning and staring at a different dragon. An older, smaller dragon, still very much adult, who looked back at the great dragon with traces of an apology in her expression. The great dragon took a step towards her…
Mayra recoiled. She hadn’t expected him to do that. Somewhere inside, dragons usually had some degree of honour. But it seemed the chief wasn’t above making things easier on himself. As the big dragon approached, it angled its nose to strike at the different, older dragon with the sheer mass of its face… and Mayra dove headfirst down.
You will not hurt Mother!
“Huh~?” MDP wondered, not really understanding what was going on.
Instead of hitting the older red dragon, instead he hit directly into Mayra… who was blasted back, because there was no way she could take a hit from that monstrosity, even in dragon-form. Mayra hit the ground a bit further away and rolled over, her scales by her shoulder where she’d taken the hit compressed and leaking magma-like blood. She was quick to try to roll back on her feet, even as her mother was retreating away from the big dragon she had evidently insulted today…
“Mayra Wayra!” MDP cried as she darted over to where her friend had fallen. “That looks super duper painful wainful!” she exclaimed, her eye’s widening at the sight of the draconic girl’s injury. “Heresie! Like, Magical Dream Princess will patchy watchy you uppy wuppy!” With a wave of her whimsical wand, MDP conjured a giant pink bandaid with smiling hearts and stars over Mayra’s wound. Thankfully, since it was made from dream magic, the cheerful bandage would be impervious to the magma that served as the dragon girl’s blood.
Mayra lifted her head as MDP came jumping, and then looked as the giant bandaid showed up… and it was somehow helping. The dragon chuckled… then started to shrink. Mayra shrank down, her wings disappearing into her body, her neck going back to how it was, and…
‘Huah! I didn’t expect that…’ Mayra said, sitting where she was. The bandaid had shrunk with her, still sitting on her shoulder. It was about now that all the onlooking dragons were staggering with true “WHAT SORCERY IS THIS!?” vibes. ‘Oh, yeah, I never showed them this. Hi, mom!’ Mayra grinned as she tilted her head back and waved to the dragon she’d just defended, who looked back in utter confusion.
‘Right, so, princess…’ Mayra addressed MDP. ‘Mr. Big here is the leader of the pack, but he’s kind of a tyrant. Just ‘cause he was losing the game, he decided to attack my mother to teach me a lesson…’ Mayra gave the giant, confused dragon in front of her a very blank, unappreciative look. ‘… and I don’t like that.’
She took a fighting stance, arms raised, legs bent. ‘So I’m gonna have Sir “Proud of His Size” taste how it feels to be beat up by a pipsqueak. He needs to be taught a lesson. Do you want in?’ she asked, and despite clearly not understanding the words, the giant dragon in front of her was clearly looking agitated, glaring at her tiny humanoid form.
“That biggy wiggy dragon wagon wanted to hurty wurty Mayra Wayra’s mommy wommy?!” MDP asked, her eyes going wide with shock. “Like, that’s not very wery nicey wicey at allsie wallsie!” she declared, giving the giant dragon an indignant scowl. “Like, Magical Dream Princess will totally wotally helpy welpy Mayra Wayra teachy weachy that biggy wiggy meanie weanie a lesson wesson he’ll never ever wever forgety wety!” she added, hopping back onto her pink cloud, while continuing to glare at the boss dragon.
‘Great! Then let’s go!’ Mayra called, and dashed diagonally in comparison to the giant dragon, so that if he shot at her he wouldn’t hit her mother. The dragon charged its breath, and then unleashed a massive beam of fire trying to track down Mayra, and she dodged behind one of many cliffs around this mountainous area to avoid it. That, however, meant he wasn’t looking towards MDP.
For her part, MDP had sped towards the giant dragon in the opposite direction, racing around his massive form until she was hovering in the air above and behind him. “Like, you’ve been very wery naughty waughty, Mister Wister Dragon Wagon!” she told the titanic creature with an angry pout. “And, like, Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies you need a timey wimey outy wouty right nowie!” With that, she pointed her whimsical wand above the great dragon and conjured a giant anthropomorphic clock with a police officer’s hat. Promptly landing on the dragon’s back, the clock cop smashed his smiling baton over the creature’s head.
The creature promptly stopped blasting as it felt something land on its back, and then shouted out in anger as the baton hit its head. The great dragon was, however, extremely sturdy and looked way more annoyed than damaged from the smash. It promptly jumped, shaking itself to get the clock-police off its back, and if that didn’t work it would roll over the ground trying to crush it beneath itself.
Regardless, a laughing Mayra got back up from the hiding place and charged forward, the big dragon not noticing for now because he was occupied with the clock guy.
“Golly wolly! He’s super duper toughy wuffy!” MDP exclaimed as she watched the giant dragon try to remove the clock cop from his back. However, the whimsical creation refused to budge, simply bopping away with its baton. Even being crushed into the rocky ground did little to impede it, as it simply turned into a cloud of sparkling mist, only to reform atop the dragon’s belly, where it continued to batter the creature’s head, while attempting to pin the monster down with the aid of several smaller versions of itself that had been summoned by the blowing of a cheerfully smiling whistle.
The dragon growled angrily and then, without the small clock-cops being able to do much about it, threw up its limbs and rolled back onto its stomach, which made the clock-guy have to turn into mist again and reform on the dragon’s back. Despite being hit again and again, the dragon stood up on its legs.
‘It’s what he’s got going for him!’ Mayra called, running in under the creature in order to have fire-charged punch up at the creature’s stomach!
Except in that moment the giant dragon jumped, annoyed that the thing on its back wouldn’t go away. Instead, it flew up high with numerous flaps of its wings ascending high and glaring angrily all while still taking baton-hits to his head…
Then he dove at phenomenal speed directly for MDP, deciding to attempt to chomp on her with his massive teeth. He was intelligent enough to figure this nonsense probably came from the same thing that had nonsensed his fire-blast earlier. He’d swipe down like a bird of prey catching prey with its mouth, then swoop up again a little, then spin around to do it again.
“Like, Magical Dream Princess doesn’t wanna play taggy waggy with you anymorsie, ‘cause you’re a super duper meanie weanie head!” MDP told the giant dragon as she nimbly avoided his profoundly powerful, but not exactly agile attacks, her glittery pink cloud keeping her just out reach of the creature’s massive maw. Even as she did so, the clock cop continued to pound away, although it really didn’t seem to be having much effect on the monster’s scaly cranium.
If there was one thing the giant dragon had, it was toughness. However, at some point, he also realised that the thing on his head just wouldn’t go away, and that the little pink thing he was chasing was also really good at dodging attacks. So, then, the dragon refocused on what he thought he could hit.
Mayra, who had been running after the dragon chasing MDP, suddenly widened her eyes in surprise as she realised the dragon’s next attack was to just dive straight into her ‘Oh, shoot-’
The giant dragon’s claws burst rock under them as they crushed down with phenomenal power at Mayra’s last known location. The mountainside got new cracks that spread from where the attack had landed. The large dragon grunted in satisfaction…
‘... CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-!’ Before suddenly suffering a rocket-powered fully charged first into its stomach, Mayra along with the dragon slowly rising from the ground. Because Mayra had abused a little Darkness magic to hide from the hit. Now she and the dragon lifted as she punched into its stomach with full power, the dragon growling in annoyed pain…!
“Wowie zowie~!” MDP cried in happy amazement, before conjuring a pair of pink pom poms and beginning an impromptu cheer routine. “Mayra Wayra~! Mayra Wayra~! Go~! Go~! Go~! Lift him high~! In the airsie~! Give that meanie weanie, a biggy wiggy scaresie waresie~! (giggle!) Mayra Wayra bo bayra, banana fana fow fayra, ke ki ko kayra, go Mayra~!” And so forth.
Mayra realized she didn’t actually have the force behind her fist to continue lifting the giant dragon. So instead, she spun around and kicked with both feet into the dragon’s chest, knocking it back growling and clearly in pain. Mayra bounced off the ground on her hands and jumped back to land next to MDP, striking a pose.
‘Hehe, thanks for the support, princess. Now we just gotta show we can take his full power without even moving…!’ she said, raising her hands to prepare for firepower.
“Like, okie dokie, Mayra Wayra~!” MDP acknowledged with a playful wink and peace sign salute.
Now, to be clear, Mayra was pretty sure she could, in fact, NOT handle the dragon tyrant's full power, but really, did that matter with MDP here?
The giant dragon looked over, and recognized Mayra’s challenge. With that, its stomach started expanding. Its wings extended. Power started bulging from its mouth and pressure pulled towards the creature…!
Then it shot a single massive beam at them, fire and force brutal combination threatening to tear through both them and the mountain behind them!
Mayra focused her firepower directly in front of her to break through as small a portion as needed, intending to possibly join with whatever MDP did!
… And was also partially prepared in case MDP just no-selled the whole thing!
As it happened, MDP didn’t completely negate the giant dragon’s attack. Instead, the whimsical wall of prismatic energy she conjured with a sweep of her wand transmuted the torrent of flaming death into a stream of colorful skittles and other sugary candies, which harmlessly rained down her and her draconic friend. “Like, try to catchy watchy them in your mouthy wouthy, Mayra Wayra~! (giggle!)” MDP instructed as she did just that, opening wide and sticking out her tongue. “Mmmm~! They’re, like, sooo super duper yummy wummy~!” she declared with a happy giggle.
Mayra just stood there for a second as the wave of skittles and candies rained down on them, and then she laughed. Laughed out loud at the sheer absurdity of it all, and the dragon on the other side just stared, all wide-eyed and confused, then got slammed in the head again by the clock-police still on his back.
Mayra stomped her foot forward and raised her arms in some vaguely threatening gesture.
‘RARGH!’ she shouted out, and the tyrant dragon flinched, startled, then raised his wings to flap. He got slightly into the air then spun around, all while the police-clock was still smacking him in the head. The dragon retreated, fleeing from the mountain and the two of them, deciding that remaining with them wasn’t good for his health. Mayra kept laughing, still seeing the weird form hitting the dragon’s head as he retreated.
‘Is that gonna remain on him for long?’ Mayra asked, very amused, as other dragons and child dragons peeked out from various caves and rocks they’d hidden behind when the action got a little too intense. This included Mayra’s mother, who looked at two tiny forms with very confused eyes.
“Not for too longy wongy~” MDP told Mayra with a playful wink. “Hopefully wopefully that biggy wiggy meanie weanie will be lots nicer wicer if he ever wever comes backy wacky,” she added, placing her hands on her hips as she watched the giant dragon fly off into the distance.
‘Hehehehe,’ Mayra laughed at her statement. ‘Thanks for helping out, princess,’ she said, grinning at MDP. Mayra would not have been able to beat that big dragon on her own. Or, well. She possibly could have, but it would have been a lot closer.
‘So, yeah! Meet my family!’ Mayra called, gesturing to the dragons that were coming out of hiding and looking at them with confusion. ‘They don’t really have names, seeing how they can’t talk, but that’s my mother! Oh, and I played with that one and that one as a kid! That one’s like the friendly uncle, and that one’s a douche, but we can handle him. Oh, and…’ she looked and saw a smaller dragon by the feet of her mother all of a sudden, also looking curiously at her. ‘… And I have a new little brother. Haha!’ Mayra laughed.
‘Hey, let’s play for a while!’ she called, and then immediately started turning back into a big dragon, to show the dragons it was still her, she was just very different now.
“Yaaaay~! Play timey wimey with Mayra Wayra’s family wamily~! (giggle!)” MDP cheered as she jumped up and down, overjoyed that they would all be having lots more fun together.
The other dragons were definitely confused, but now that she’d scared off the biggest one, they were more accepting. So when Mayra now roared, the others hesitantly joined in, but joined in they did.
And with that, they played for a while…
After
‘And with that, guess I’m the Dragon Queen now! They answer to me, now, because I beat Mr. Big!’ Mayra announced her arms extended as they headed back. ‘They respect you a lot, too, now, but probably the same way one would respect a lightning strike, or a sun at ground-level, haha!’
‘Well, anyway, I probably couldn't have done it without you, sooo… Thanks, princess!’ Mayra called to her with a giant grin.
“Like, you’re totally wotally welcome, Mayra Wayra~! (giggle!)” MDP told her friend, before giving the dragon girl a big hug. “And, like, thankie wankies soooo muchy wuchy for letting Magical Dream Princess visit wisit your homey womey, and meety weety your family wamily, and play all sorts of funsie wunsie gamey wamies~!” she added happily. “Oh~! And, like, Magical Dream Princess thinkie winkies it’s the cooly wooliest that you’re a queenie weenie, nowie~! (giggle!) But, like, does that meany weany that you have to stay heresie weresie from now onsie wonsie~?” the whimsical girl inquired with a small frown.
Mayra embraced MDP as she hugged her, laughing all the while. At the final question, she laughed again. ‘Naaah. I can come and go as I like. I’ll just be in charge when I drop in, assuming Mr. Big doesn’t return,’ Mayra said, because if he does things will probably return right to what they were! Well, maybe Mayra could just bring MDP again if that happens.
‘Anyway, you’re welcome! Was very funny, bringing you into my world! Haha,’ Mayra chuckled a bit. She meant it. ‘Now, let’s head on back. We’ve got stuff to prepare for.’
“Okie dokie~!” MDP acknowledged with her typical cheerful exuberance. “Like, Magical Dream Princess just hopey wopies that she and Mayra Wayra can visit wisit heresie weresie againsie wensie sometimey wimey~! (giggle!)” she added.
‘Yeah…’ Mayra made a noise. Truth was, she had to really beg Mariette to open a portal back here. It wasn’t something she was allowed to do on her own. ‘Eh, we’ll see. Let’s get back. Wanna get pancakes?’
“Magical Dream Princess would wuv to~!” MDP told her friend happily. “‘Cause, like, pancakey wakies are super duper yummy wummy~! (giggle!)”
So, after a bit of time, they were allowed to go back to their world (through a Mariette portal, as that was their only way to or from that world) and then they went to eat pancakes, both of them blissfully unconcerned about the chaos they’d caused in the lives of numerous beasts of Mayra’s homeworld. Indeed, their little trip was one that none of them would be forgetting any time soon…
‘That’s right,’ Anise nodded in satisfaction to Volta’s little “bleh”.
‘Alright,’ she said later, when both Basil and Ameli seemed eager enough to battle for training. ‘There looked like there was a field one could battle on a bit further away from here in town, should we go there?’ That or they could head for the arena in the Pokémon Center, because there are always those in the background.
In case they headed for the field, they’d soon find themselves in an open green field. It was between the buildings of Stillwood Village, still under the massive crown of interlinked trees above the buildings with only the light filtered by the many leaves blocking anyone from seeing the sky while in here. The green field had white lines drawn into it, forming the borders of the arena and had a line crossing the middle, and it was currently not in use.
Still, the field wasn’t just entirely flat. There were a couple small, thin trees growing here and there, two bushes and two large rocks had been placed on it in two of the four quarters, as to just simulate a battle in the wild, perhaps. But the majority was still flat and open, there just happened to be a couple bits of terrain that a combatant could possibly make use of.
‘Okay. I am ready. I have four Pokémon that I train. … Zigzagoon has just been a companion, so far,’ Anise said. She took her place, and…
‘I’m ready to go!’
Battle Girl Anise would like to battle!
‘Alright. To start with. My newest and lowest level Pokémon.’ She grabbed a Pokéball, turned to the field, and then…
‘Go, Riolu!’ Anise called, throwing the ball and out of the flash of light came a small little blue canine-like warrior with black here and there. He immediately took a brave fighting stance. Riolu recognized it as an arena.
Pokédex Entry #447 – Riolu, the Emanation Pokémon. It can see the emotions of others in the form of their “auras”, and can also alert others using its own aura when feeling strong emotions. While small, Riolu is really strong. While sensitive to it, Riolu cannot effectively utilize aura.
Anise crossed her arms and watched Basil talk about what to do here, and she thought about it herself.
‘The Pokémon Gyms… that’s how you get stronger, huh? I already have Hector’s Challenge Badge, I had to earn it to become his disciple… But perhaps I should challenge others as well,’ Anise pondered.
Then Basil showed off Volta, and Anise blinked at the little creature.
‘Oh. Congratulations,’ she said about his new little Pokémon. ‘He’s… cute?’ she said, tilting her head looking at the thing. Maybe not entirely to her tastes. She reacted to what he said next, though. ‘Oh, he’s shiny? I couldn't tell! Oh, that's really cool. You’re a rare little creature, aren't you?’ she asked Volta, at least seeming to have some feeling towards him given the pet-talk.
Amelia then offered to possibly help training. ‘You would!? Alright!’ Anise clapped her cheeks once and held a serious expression. ‘I’m going to need experience against all forms of Pokémon if I’m to get stronger. If you’d help, I’d be most grateful!’ said the Fighting-type trainer to the Ghost-type trainer.
So, what would they do, then? Basil could head directly for the Gym as he mentioned, or they could all do some training, or they could change their minds and do something else.

Stillwood Village
Inside these calm forests lies a village completely in-tune with nature. The buildings are built around or in the trees of wood and stone, the light shining onto the village stifled by the great trees above. In the air, meeting your nose as soon as you tread into the village, is filled to the brim with the smell of forest and spores. It’s a wild smell, but somehow it is extremely relaxing and any worries seem to be stifled before the calming village ahead where everyone is always so calm and happy, wild Pokémon walking freely on the roads of the place. This is Stillwood Village, the most relaxing place imaginable, it’s people in touch with nature and wishing the best to all those who come to their cozy and ancient little home.
Wild Grass Pokémon freely wander the streets, spreading their spores into the air which the townspeople actively walk through every single day. They are all smiles, very helpful, the entire village and all visitors afflicted by the relaxing sensations brought by the spores during their stay in Stillwood Village. However, these spores are the reason quite a few avoid Stillwood Village, arguing that it messes with one’s mind. It is extremely rare that a member of Stillwood Village moves out of the village, after all. It will also quickly become evident just how little the members of the village care about the world at large, all their worries gone by the relaxing spores and just continue living, no troubles in the slightest.
That’s Stillwood Village for you.
