I think I got a gist of what I should write for my nation during the war with this info. Is it ok if I write up some battles in there that happened between the Golgotha and my faction?
I don't want to sound lazy, but where is the exact lore on the War of Retribution?
No official post about it yet. It is mentioned throughout a few character sheets. This might be a good opportunity to use the Historical Database...
Basically, the War of Retribution was when the Luak Tae scrounged up a fleet of Outer Alliance forces and fought back against the Golgotha after failing to secure a peace negotiation. Some things that happened during the War:
The war was started by the Resurgent Mandate, a semi-religious sect of Golgothans hell-bent on destroying 'inferior' races.
The Core Worlds of the Llyr Empire were utterly destroyed.
The Archon Severis Velian, who had an impeccable reputation among the Golgothans, ultimately betrayed the Mandate, baiting them into a trap where the main Mandate fleet was crushed.
The Kaldasa system (Velian Concordance) was sacked, reduced to ruin.
The Mandates main industrial world, Sevara, was besieged by Outer Alliance forces but was ultimately repelled. Most of the Luak Tae Fleet was destroyed here.
That's all I can think of for now. Anyone can add 'lore' to the War as long as it maintains the shared narrative of events that have led up to the current in-game time.
@PolybiusDouble posting, but I wanted to make sure you saw. I've added some brief mention of the war with the Llyr Empire, and the Golgothan civil war, though due to the policies of the old Noerfaen Imperial Government, and the small size of the nation, they remained uninvolved except for acting as a neutral trading hub.
The United Noerfaen Commune
"Peace Through Equality."
Ülemveebel(Representative) Sten Illar - The Commune's representative to the Galactic Council Vanemmaat(Director of the Commune) Timo Oja - Head of State for the Commune
The Noerfaen Solar System is comprised of 6 planets, 3 of which are habitable by the Noerfaen species, and are thus included as Commune Territory. Of the three planets, the planet closest to the sun is Noerfae, the homeworld of the Noerfaen species, and the capital of the Commune. It acts as a trade and government hub, with spaceports constantly buzzing with activity, and a planetwide city providing shelter for many of the Noerfaen species. Reconstruction following the Great Revolution has brought stability and jobs to a world formerly rife with looting, riots, and mass protests. The second world is Heigo, named after the Noerfaen astronomer that discovered the world millennia ago. This world acts as the agricultural center of the Commune, supplying the three worlds with food, crop-based products, and other similar goods. Heigo was relatively unscathed during the Great Revolution, as there was minimal government presence, and thus the residents simply transitioned from one ruling group to the next with minimal protest. The new economic system brought by the Commune has provided more food to be shared among the residents of Heigo, with replication technology routinely being used to help supplement crop growth. The final world is Viljar, again named after a famous astronomer. Viljar is unique in that its sole permanent residents are machines. As a manufacturing world, Viljar is prone to intense pollution. Unable to inhibit or stop the effects, the Noerfaens simply banned permanent residence on the surface, fully automating the manufacturing process, and building space stations in orbit, for cargo and transport vessels to pick up and ship out the produced goods. Occasional environment suit-garbed teams of mechanics and computer engineers are sent down to the surface for maintenance work, and have a 99% rate of safe return. During the Great Revolution, Commune soldiers were forced to detonate explosives in parts of Viljar's megafactories, in attempts to halt the production of weapons by the tyrannical government. These damages have since been repaired, but stigma still remains about the reliability of the machines in these sectors.
The Noerfaens have been a spacefaring race for quite a while, but have not strayed from their solar system in any large numbers as of yet, primarily due to their government history. For as long as documented history can record, the Noerfaen race had been united under one banner, ruled by an Imperial government under control of the Czetzer, with the most recent one being Rait Ruutli, a tyrannical despot bent on cruelty and oppression. The Imperial government had a stern belief in focusing on internal politics, while remaining neutral to the outside galaxy, acting as a trade hub for both sides of any major conflict. The Imperial government also saw both the Llyr Empire and the Golgothan Mandate as too large a threat for the small empire to combat, and thus saw staying uninvolved as the smarter option. This belief allowed the Imperial government to focus solely on the internal workings of Noerfaen society, which led to the small aristocratic ruling class controlling much of the wealth and resources, and an impoverished mass of overworked low-class citizens growing increasingly dissatisfied with their position in life. The Imperial government had sought to keep the Noerfaen uninvolved in galactic politics, avoiding war with the Llyr Empire, and the following Golgothan civil war, instead operating as a neutral trading hub, while also violently oppressing their own citizens. A group of Noerfaen wished to see Ruutli removed, and a more open government established, and formed the Citizen's Commune, a revolutionary group dedicated to the average citizen, with the belief that nobility and royalty should be abolished. During a harsh civil war now known as the Great Revolution, the Citizen's Commune managed to defeat the Empire, executing the Czetzer, exiling his family, and abolishing the nobility. After 2 grueling years of work, the Citizen's Commune would reform the government into the United Noerfaen Commune, expressing a firm belief in fairness across both the Noerfaen worlds, and the galaxy. This new government would soon apply for admission in the Galactic Council, and after being accepted would take to the international stage. The Commune is very outspoken against war, but has offered non-military support to the Galactic Council's security members in the fight against the Golgothan Mandate remnants, though they remain skeptical of Severis Velian's claims of peace following the defeat of the Mandate.
The primary species of the Noerfaen Commune are Noerfaen. Roughly about 1.8 meters tall for most members of the species, with an average weight of 85 kilograms, the Noerfaen are a basic bipedal, two-armed species, though their origins seem more reptilian than mammalian, With a snout-shaped face, a forked tongue, and spinal ridges that trace from the crown of their head all the way down to the end of a swishing tail. The Noerfaen have scale-textured skin, with five claw-tipped digits on their hands and feet.
The Commune is rarely a permanent home for other species, and as such there are not significant numbers of minorities. However, those that do exist, thanks to the encouraged belief in equality expressed by the Commune, are treated just the same as any other citizen, provided their documents are in order.
The Noerfaen Commune operates on a simple principle of fair treatment for all beings. Those who contribute more effort and work to society are rewarded appropriately, while those who need extra aide due to disabilities are provided with such. Mistreatment of those in need, abuse of minorities, and war for discriminatory reasons are all things the Commune openly speaks against. While they acknowledge the need for regulation of such technology, the Commune expresses concern about the current method of restricting FTL travel, seeing the potential for warp gates to be manipulated into tools of discrimination or hate.
In the Commune, actual currency is only used to barter with outside entities, such as foreign governments and businesses, visiting off-world traders, and other such cases. On the Commune worlds, all residents from the beginning of adulthood are assigned a finance account and serial number. This account houses credits given for completion of successful work tasks, and is deducted from when payment is necessary for a good or service. Those unable to work due to disability or age have credits paid to them bi-weekly, based on their previous record of task completion, or those of their caretaker/relative if they have never been able to work. Noerfaen leaving the Commune have the ability to withdraw their current credit balance as currency for one or more foreign nations.
The Noerfaen military primarily consists of ground troops and a small Navy. As the Great Revolution was a recent event, the military is primarily composed of trained revolutionary fighters, with the leadership consisting of converted officers from the old military, and as such are more suited to guerrilla warfare and skirmish tactics, both in space and on worlds. The Noerfaen have no expressed wishes for conquest, and regularly speak out against unwarranted expansionism in the international community.
OOC note: I figured, as a single solar system, they'd be a smaller nation, and possibly not even be on the map. I dunno, your call GM
This is fine as it is. But you mention non-military support for the GC security council- you have to tell us what kind of support and you can do that IC if you wish. In the spirit of more incorporating everyones NS's together-perhaps you could have the Czetzer killed by the Golgotha after attempting a peace negotiation-thus paving the road for your agrarian worlds to overthrow the remaining government. Just something to think about- how odd it would be for your Communes enemies to be the ones that allowed the revolution to occur!
@DepressedSoviet@Claw2k11@Ashevelendar I want you guys to take a look at the recent applications and try and incorporate a little more recent history into your sheets. Claw you don't have anything written under brief history yet, so if you could tell us what your nation was up to during the War of Retribution, etc. Were almost ready to begin guys so let's get those sheets finished. If you need any help or have questions, ask me!.
Still a couple things to add, but you get the idea.
The Luak Tae Hegemony
Supreme Leader Haek Tae "A golgothan defector is much the same, only more intelligent than his brethren..." Sky Marshal Hoon Sai "Teeth and claws. These are the only weapons you need." Ambassadors to the UA Hundreds of bureaucrats make up the delegation to the Galactic Council. These are the primary representatives: Representative Conwyn nae Llyr Conwyn was the Llyrian Ambassador in Luak when the war began. Representative Minun Chu Representative Zyra Mae
Chohun IV The seat of power for the Luak Hegemony. A fortress world dominated by brutalist bureaucratic buildings, artificial rivers and lakes and the endless sprawl of government. Private citizens have been 'evacuated' by government decree since the outbreak of war and the displaced populations dispersed across the possessions of the Luak. Chohun is where oligarchs, politicos and the War-Masters confer on policy, strategy and tactics and the main fleet is temporarily stationed while repairs continue at Toyun I.
Toyun I Renamed in honor of the influential and honorable Lord Toyun, who was assassinated by Gologathan agents, Toyun is the home of the Luak Fleet where armies of engineers and drones are tasked with repairing and rearming Hegemony vessels. The geosynchronous ship-forge is being reconstructed after a Golgothan Terrorist managed to detonate a mass-inversion torpedo aboard the Cruiser 'Legend'. The resulting chain of explosions killed thousands of workers and incapacitated the Hegemonies ability to repair and rearm ships for a few years.
The Luak Tae Hegemony were ancient allies of the Llyr Empire and briefly attempted negotiations with the Golgotha before the assassination of Lord Toyun by agents of the cult of the Mandate. Enraged, the Luak Tae Great Council abandoned any attempts at peaceful negotation and mobilized the armada. It was not until the Core Worlds of the Llyrian Empire began to burn that members of the Outer Alliance realized the danger of the Golgotha, and the War of Retribution began, albeit much too late.
Formed the core forces of the Outer Alliance Armada in the war of Retribution. Participated in the seige of Sevara, the primary Gologathan Industrial World, with devastating losses to the main fleet. Evacuated a handful of Llyrian Nobles at the last minute, at great cost.
Luak, a distant relative culturally and genetically to the Llyrians. Zylatt, an ancient race of knowledge keepers and historians. Llyrian, refugees and asylum-seekers. The Llyr are nearly extinct.
The Luak Hegemony are the main proponents of the ban on FTL drives and the installation of Warp Gates at key galactic locations. In addition, nothing short of the utter destruction of the Unbegotten will be an acceptable outcome. Representatives from the Luak Hegemony are highly suspicious of Archon Severis Velian. Food stores have been devestated after the war, due to the deficiency in trade with the Llyr Empire and the destruction of the agrarian worlds on the fringe of the Empire, and the ban on genetic manipulation.
A recession has gripped the Hegemony after the loss of trade with the Llyr Empire.
Luak forces suffered over 50% losses in the War of Retribution and are struggling to recoup. What Llyrian vessels could be evacuated (mostly fringe ships, on outer patrol or captured privateers) make up the main Luak Fleet at this point. The Llyrian Cruisers and Dreadnoughts are big heavy things, more symbols of Empire and power than practical weapons and the Luak Commanders are struggling to learn the nuances of the vessels while Luak ships are under construction.
@gorgenmast@Oraculum Awesome apps guys. This rp is shaping up to be something good. Trying to get something posted early this week as I'm working. Others that expressed interest let me know if your still planning on joining or not please so we can begin.
