is there a guide to which ships we can have and how many? My ships are living beings, so they'll be many, but most aren't Cybernetically enhanced, so they aren't very strong.

I have been imagining the Llyr Empire as something similar to the Austrian Empire, with one group in-charge of many ethnic and cultural groups (and in this case species) with fewer rights. Is that fine?
@PolybiusWe aren't warmongers. We're explorers who don't normally interfere in other's lives, but it doesn't seem like the UA would allow that, as we have tech they don't like.
We'd try to be neutral, but with everyone interacting with us, I don't see that as being very likely.
I'd like to play as the Asati Alliance, a group of plasma based lifeforms that use living starships (cybernetically enhanced space-based lifeforms) to move around. I wouldn't join the UA, though, as it's basically an attempt to push their own will onto everyone else.
We'd have hyperdrive tech, which makes us your enemy, I guess.

I wrote the brief history, though be warned it is a bare bones history with only the absolute necessary in there.
Also, the reason that the name of the admiral leading the Imperial Confederacy fleet is not divulged is because it is considered traitors are not worthy of being remembered by name.
Oh important question, what kind of time scales are we dealing with? how long ago was the stuff in the backstory.@Polybius
