Apologies to all writing partners both current & prospective. Been sick for two weeks straight (and have to go to work regardless). No energy. Can't think straight. Taking a hiatus. Sorry again.

Where's the personality? The flavor? the drama? The struggle? The humanity? The texture of the time and the place in which this conversation is happening? In a word: where's the story?

@DinoNuts Remove the asterisks. :)
I'm almost done with the app and I think I'm going to finish it over the weekend. Did you want to see the WIP as a proof-of-concept, or are you taking my word for it that there's definitely an app in the works despite my silence in this thread?
In some genres/media of RP it's kind of necessary, too, I'll add.

If you play females in anime/manga-tagged games then I defy you to find an ugly one, or even a plain one. Unless you're playing a cartoonishly gross character like the Witch of the Wastes, you basically can't. There is a middle-ground between "drop-dead gorgeous" and "a hopelessly hideous hag," but it's slim as fuck, and even then, in all of these cases their ugliness is a defining aspect of their characters, so it's not like they're ever ugly incidentally.

I personally think customary units will give the pieces a stronger historical feel. Inches derive from the length of a certain king's thumb, from the tip to the first knuckle; a foot is, well, the length of one of his feet. A lot of them have "rule-of-thumb" origins like that, whereas metric is more modern.

Still drowning in coursework and character sheets btw. I haven't forgotten this, although by the time I start writing you might already have introduced Gen III.
Exactly 0% of the people who wrote on the Guild that they'd leave if he won the presidency have actually left yet. You won't leave when he's reelected either. Chill.
@Oddsbod I'll take it. Insane how much work piles up if you slacken even a little. Three due tonight (though to be fair one of them was due yesterday), and it's a fucking Tuesday!

Fuck online classes. The worklo ad is insane even if you don't count having to read 35-page-long chapters from a textbook every day. Which I do.

But yeah, once I have free time I'm ready to do this thang
@Piddle Yes, please. Very exciting stuff. Looking forward to it.
@Piddle Yeah. I'm sure he can get it printed if he likes it that much, even if having you send it to him in an actual frame would be metal af.

The pic I linked is not too far from what I'll want in the end: black and gold armor with a late-Transitional style, meaning chains and brigandine under a layer of plate. On top, some sort of tabard or surcoat for displaying his heraldry. (I'd give you a rough mock-up of his house's escutcheon: red, white, and green being the dominant colors. But I'm definitely not a visual artist, as you will see lmao.) The background would be rather plain in the style of these old portraits, but there might be some accessories/decorations to one side like shields, tables and tablecloths, bundles of spears.

example of a finished product, though from a much later period (17th Century)

With all of that said, I think I'll settle on colored digital. Thoughts, apprehensions, questions? Definitely feel free to do your studies if you need time, and when you're ready, get in touch with me so I can send a proper character description whenever.
