Current Teaching myself web development by trying to fix some BBCode bugs/features in the Guild is probably a bad idea. Oh, well.

If school were less hard, it'd be less interesting. I still want it to be less hard, though.

Maybe I'll update this.

I've still got to get a JFK post up, but I decided to go ahead and post the mission briefing, since I have to actually create the crew bios and weaponry and aircraft complement for her. Assume that the captain of the JFK has passed on the orders to the rest of the fleet, and that we've got at least three days worth of travel time (in game) to Baker island.
Behind-the-scenes mission briefing:

This mission is quite literally what it appears to be on the surface. No twists, no secret troops, nothing. Baker island has bunkers, miscellaneous buildings, and a fuel depot, all empty, all recently constructed for this exercise. The most difficult part will be sorting out who is in command of the fleet - something I've left purposefully ambiguous because I think it's more interesting this way. Other than that, it's a simple little introduction to the RP.
Mission Briefing:

I think I've heard about that one before. The fact that the internet comes into a country (and across continents) in one giant super-long cable is terrifying to think about. I'm just glad I can keep watching Lost Girl. Oh, and I guess this place is pretty cool, too.

I'll post the mission profile after I post in the IC. I may end up editing this post to add it (I hate double posting for arbitrary reasons).
TheFake: As I pointed out here, I've closed the RP (it's also on the first OOC post). However, there are a couple people who haven't posted for a while and might have abandoned the thread (I've sent them PM's). They likely haven't and are just waiting for IC things to happen, but if they have abandoned the thread, then I'll let you in. I'll PM you if that's the case. Sorry.

That being said, your ship is accepted, so if we do have a drop, then you're in.

Sylpheed: Accepted! Thanks for the fix.
My internet is back! They dug a great big hole, mucked about for a bit, and then fixed whatever was wrong. That was fun. I'll trawl the OOC for any outstanding issues/ship applications, then I'll post the mission orders in the IC and the mission plan/plot in the OOC.
Hey - I've been having severe internet problems over here and this is the first I've been able to get on. Hopefully it'll be fixed by Wednesday.
Hey - I've been having severe internet problems over here and this is the first I've been able to get on. Hopefully it'll be fixed by Wednesday. I trust Gunther can get you guys out of port doing something at least a little bit interesting. Good luck, and hopefully I'll be back by Wednesday!

Raidne is a siren. I like to name electronic things after Greek mythological figures. Every electronic device I own is named after sirens or muses, depending on whether I think it will inspire and help me or just suck me into a distracted death spiral of procrastination. Anyway, I always wished that I was a siren, so I've gone with "Raidne" as a username for a while now.

And then I changed it to "Queen Raidne" after guildfall to prolong a joke that had been dead for a while.

I love my avatar's dress and tiara! I'd kill for a chance to own (and wear) both of them.
Silverwind Blade: Go for it! Quoting Gunther:

Gunther said I absolutely love Silverwing's idea. He asked for three of those boats. I would let him have five or six if he wanted to run with it. I would advise him to have boats that different primary roles and then overlap in the secondary roles. This is my suggestion to Silverwing. Take 1x Shaldag-class fast patrol boat (ASW primary; AAW secondary), and 2x Sa'ar 4.5-class missile boat, one of each subclass (ASuW boats). Now if he would like to take weapon systems from other ships in existence and create his own mock ups on a ~100 - 130 foot hull to have ASW, ASuW and AAW platforms that would be great. I love those small Israeli missile boats too.

Slypheed: Of course, all-female again. Haha! I find that way more amusing than I should. It's like Girls und Panzer, only with ships. ...Girls und Scharnhorst? A couple of comments: 3 years is a very short time for Skye to get a command, especially since she enlisted rather than going in as an officer. Secondly, I haven't really researched it, but there might be recreational bands on board Navy ships. I know that happens on carriers, but carriers are very large. Just something to keep in mind.

At any rate, if you fix the captain's experience/age/timeline, then it'll be accepted.

TheEvanCat: Accepted!

Wernher: Looks good so far, just finish the other crew sheet(s) [by the way, that second image is broken].
Map!

Edit:
So I've got a conundrum. If we accept the distances that real-life gives us, then to get to any other empire in a reasonable amount of time (say, 5-10 years to get to the Septonium Concordant), then my ships have to travel at four to two thousand c (that's 4000-2000 times the speed of light). People might be justifiably frightened of such colossal speeds. Even then, a "turn" in this RP would have to cover a year or so for ships to get anywhere any time soon. Alternatives include wormholes, jump-lanes, and other non-"FTL Drive" types of propulsion, but I find it mildly annoying that to function as a space-empire, we'd have to use that type of tech (different types of FTL travel mean different tactical and roleplay advantages). Additionally, we'd need to create a jump-lane/wormhole map for most of the galaxy, and everyone would have to pick locations again.

Or we could shrink the entire galaxy by a couple of factors of ten.

Or maybe we're okay with ships that can go 4000c.

Thoughts? (Obviously Mattmaganon gets final say)
