Bio

Y'all can call me Bard.

I've been RPing for about 15 years now.

I'm also an aspiring novelist and an avid writer of short stories.

I believe hardship and bad karma (regardless of how much good one does) are necessary for character development, aptly explained by a well selling writer:
"Be a sadist. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them—in order that the reader may see what they are made of." —Kurt Vonnegut

Name: Jennifer MacIntosh
Age: 16
Gender: female
Appearance: Unlike her twin, Jennifer stands only about five foot five. Although they share similar facial structure, it is obvious she has more feminine features where as his are more masculine - her jaw is a softer line that is more rounded where as his is stronger and more squared, his face more squared off than her more rounded features. She shares the same kind of eyes though - best way to see the resemblance - with the same olive green color and thick eyelashes. Her light brown hair is straight, left long to cascade down to about mid-back with bangs that sweep in front of her eyes like a veil and are just barely long enough to tuck behind her ears. Although she's not thin, she is in good enough shape for her slight curves and modest bust to be noticed without having a super taut stomach; at least, her stomach is flat. She tends to prefer multiple layers - tank top under a long sleeve tee-shirt layered with a short sleeve tee-shirt, and a hooded sweatshirt over it all - and is most comfortable in boy pants instead of girl pants with sneakers to top it all off.

Personality: Quiet, meek, and withdrawn are a few of the first things people will notice about her. She doesn't like talking to others, and would rather slink away than speak to anyone except for her brother. The only time she feels comfortable talking to anyone is when he's around. She has massive problems with depression and it isn't hard for others to get her into such moods - especially if making her feel even more helpless than she already does. This girl has no sense of confidence and lacks all self-esteem. She'd rather sit in the back and watch things than be up front and doing something.

Superpower: Teleportation: unlike typical teleportation where one can focus on a location and teleport there, her ability pulls her from where she is to a different location. She knows it's about to happen when she starts getting a migraine and a glimpse of where she's going *usually nothing helpful* flashes into her vision, but that's only seconds before she's torn from where she was and pushed into existence in a different location where someone is in desperate need of help.

Biography: Born fifteen minutes after her twin, there was a complication in the delivery that ultimately cost their mother her life; it wasn't her fault, the woman had been told she would have been discouraged from getting pregnant if they had known about her preexisting condition before hand, but their father doesn't see it that way. They both grew up with the shadow of their mother's death hanging over their head. When her brother first started complaining about hearing things, he was taken to an institute and she was left with all the blame on her. Not a good environment for a child to live in.
Especially not when her ability budded late and it cost her father his life when he rushed into an armed hold up to get her. These unexplained incidents kept happening, and what was worse what that - on top of being pulled to places where she could literally do nothing to help and was only an added liability - she was bounced around the foster care system and dealt with the abuse at the hands of abused children turned abusers. This finally all came to a head when she ended up in yet another dangerous situation and there were witnesses to her disappearance and reappearance. Right after that, she was sent to the asylum before the injuries received from her latest teleportation had even been treated.

Other: She has a history of cutting - but on her wrists instead of thighs and stomach like most females - and has made a few suicide attempts over the past four years. She has been put on suicide watch, and is not allowed near anything sharp, pointy, or the like.

Name: Alexander MacIntosh
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: Alex stands at about five foot ten. He keeps his light brown hair cut short, and generally styled with gel so it appears darker than it should. He has the olive green eyes that are narrow in shape with somewhat thick eyelashes to help frame them. Lean, he has always had a pension to athletics - such as field and track, football, and baseball - and keeps in very good shape with regular runs/exercise and good diet. Preferring cool/dark monochromatic colored long sleeved shirt - or whatever kind of short sleeve tee-shirt on top of a dark colored long sleeve shirt - typically with loose legged jeans and sneakers.

Personality: Although he does share the traits of being more introverted than extroverted, Alex doesn't have the same inherent dislike for others that his sister does. Despite the ability, he does like to be around people - at least then he feels like there's a reason for him to hear things instead of everything just penetrating his skull. After spending most of his life in an institution, he has a bit of a social impediment and some of his sessions with shrinks is to help him learn to socialize better with others. But in this new institution, with the lack of voices, he finds himself feeling alone and seeks out group interactions - even though he's a bit slow on the uptake for how to converse with others.

Superpower: Telepathy: he hears the ambient thoughts of hose around him, with those that actually touch him becoming a booming voice that drowns out all others.

Biography: With his sister taking most of the blame for their mother's death, he did what he could to comfort her and help share the blame. Unfortunately, he had more and more problems with this as his power emerged at the tender age of seven. It got to the point that his sister's presence wasn't enough to help stave off all the voices. His father assumed it was just a form of psychosis, and sent him to a mental institution where he was pumped full of all kinds of drugs to try to combat the assumed hallucinations. He spent most of his years there, switched from one set of drugs to another and then another. When his sister's powers finally caused her to get put away, a new doctor showed up and reevaluated his condition before transferring him to the same facility.

Other: *I don't really know what to put here for him.*
Hey,
So I just wanted to make this clear for you guys since I'm going to be doing something wonky with my posting.
I cleared it with Banba and I wanted to make sure you guys all understood:
In posts for Wayne, you will see underlined text and bold text. These stand for Milo and Otis who are the voices in Wayne's head. This is to help give you authors some understanding of what Wayne might be responding to out loud or when he gets all distant gazed.

If Wayne is responding in his head it will appear italicized. If it is out loud, it will be in quotations like normal conversation. From this point on, I will not be making note of which is which in my posts.
And we couldn't walk why?

Because these nice guys insisted, Wayne responded to Milo. To tell the truth, he would have preferred to walk. It would have been a good stretch for his legs after the plane then taxi to the facility. Though he supposed he could stretch his legs enough once he got settled. As it was, this was a much easier way to see what there was in the town as he stared out the side of the golf cart. Nice place, all things considered.

When the cart came to a stop outside what he was told was his place, he climbed out. A smile spread on his face as his gaze roved over the house. It didn't look like much on the outside, but he had been assured that they would do their best to make it to his specifications. That was enough to make him extremely excited for this whole experience.

Except for the fact that you're one of - what? - seven people in this whole place?

"Here's some basics, and there's an interface inside that you can use to help more," one of the scientists had been saying.

"Yeah, whatever," Wayne replied out loud before he even noticed the clipboard being offered to him. He blinked, momentarily losing his smile, before it spread back onto his face. Accepting the clipboard, he looked at the scientist. "Thanks, Mac."

"Actually, it was Jim."

"Whatever. Thanks, I got this from here." With that, he headed off into the house after slinging the duffel he had brought with him onto his shoulder. The very first thought after entering stopped him dead in his tracks, door still wide open. Jesus Christ! They weren't kidding. His gaze drifted over the randomly placed - just how he designed it - assortment of books, video games, movies, and random pictures he thought looked interesting.

He dropped his duffel and kicked the door closed, still staring around from where he stood. An annoying chime was what pulled him out of his daze.

What was that? Are we getting attacked?

"No," Wayne replied coolly. He glanced down at the clipboard before turning to see the interface. The alarm could wait until the whim struck him to change it - since right now it wasn't terrible. Something annoying was perfect to make him realize something was up. Instead, he navigated to the messages. "Ooo, an event." He glanced at his watch. "I got time. Time to explore," he mumbled.

He didn't bother to look anywhere else in the house; if they got this stuff right, then surely the rest was correct and he'd be able to put stuff away later. That included his duffel, which he left sitting right inside the door as he walked out and shut the door behind him. Having the last house on his street and half way across town from the meeting hall according to the map, he needed the time to go explore and adapt to his new surroundings. Clipboard in hand, he started off on foot instead of taking the dirt bike he had requested and assumed they had provided.

I hope it's okay if I put a claim on two powers for the two characters I'm planning for the thread. The male is going to have telepathy (very different from the mind control already posted) and the female is going to have teleportation. They may take a little bit to get posted up since I have to pull their information from the book from which I am removing them.

I had a question I forgot to ask on the interest thread. I tend to be verbose when I post - since I am planning to have more than one character, is it okay if I post for them separately if I obey the other clause of waiting for the others to post before posting for the particular character again?
Ooo, this sounds fun.
Hmm, good question. I think eccentric social guy maybe? Or impulsive easy-going guy? Which do you think would be best? Probably the latter, right?

Name: Wayne Coleson
Age: 22
country: United States of America (California to be precise)
looks: He has been described as strikingly handsome, standing at 6'2, and usually is never seen without a smile that brightens up his entire face. Cobalt blue eyes and thick black hair - kept short and styled to look messy - only help enhance this fact and his youthful complexion; he tends to stay clean shaven, but his stubble is never worse than a 5 o’clock shadow. He is fit, priding himself on having well toned muscles, without being too muscular, though he does manage to look like he could hold his own in a fight. He has a faint tan like he used to go tanning but hasn't tanned in a while. His clothing style varies based on his mood and destination, but out and about is general polo shirt and a nice pair of -usually- store bought faded carpenter jeans and comfortable shoes.

personality: He is pretty easy going, but he can snap to being serious at the drop of a dime and go right back to being carefree like nothing. He's a huge flirt, and tries not to take anything too seriously. He has a tendency to incite fights if someone's already getting in his face, and is willing to just roll with something happening rather than get hung up on why it is - like jumping in a fight if a friend needs help. He's actually extremely friendly, and tries not to hold grudges; usually he could go from being in a fight with someone to suddenly being okay with them without any real indication as to why. He's not afraid of death, and will take unusual risks if he believes there is great reward - mostly because life isn't worth living unless something's happening. Despite all this, there is an intelligence to him, and even though he would rather act impulsively, he can be very methodical and thought out if he decides to be vengeful (the latter may not come up as it's a very specific trigger I doubt will come into play for this.)

short history: Born the male of twins, his mother was emotionally/psychologically abusive for the fact she expected far more from him than he could possibly achieve at any given stage of his life. She pushed him to learn lots of things, including multiple languages and classical music on instruments and perform for her company when she held gatherings. His parents divorced when he was seven because his mother refused to acknowledge any of the threats of abduction as valid; his father took his sister and he lost touch with them.
When he was nine, he was abducted and held for ransom; his mother refused to pay it. He was tortured, abused, and if it wasn't for a private agent hired by his father after finding out about the abduction, he would have died. He came out a changed boy - though his mother never really noticed - with the accompanying friends that were really the only things to keep him from going fully insane. She went right back to alternating between ignoring him and pushing him to excel. He graduated high school at year or two ahead of schedule. Even though he started college immediately like she expected him to, when he turned eighteen he took off to just wander across the US - after taking a hefty sum from her accounts.

other: He has never been to a psychiatrist for his mental state, so his condition is undiagnosed. That being said, he hears two voices - which he knows, by this point, they are just in his head - of two distinctly different personalities known to him as Milo and Otis. Sometimes he responds to them out loud, but for the most part he carries on conversations with them/interacts with them internally.
He recently finished his time as pre-law degree and decided to take some time off via volunteering for the experiment.
Thanks a bunch.
I am definitely interested in this.

I also have a friend (the one that got me to join this site with her last night) that might be interested in this, but she might not be able to post anything today due to travel. Is it okay if a spot is tentatively reserved until I can get in touch with her/she can post for herself if she's interested?
