Bio

Y'all can call me Bard.

I've been RPing for about 15 years now.

I'm also an aspiring novelist and an avid writer of short stories.

I believe hardship and bad karma (regardless of how much good one does) are necessary for character development, aptly explained by a well selling writer:
"Be a sadist. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them—in order that the reader may see what they are made of." —Kurt Vonnegut

Well, good thing I crossed my dragon off the list early. =)

I figured out my three, but I may have some questions (I'm working with a friend on our sheets since we're discussing having a business together.) Once I figure out what I'm doing, I think I might send you a PM before starting the sheets just to make sure I have my i's dotted and t's crossed beforehand. (I'm also very happy to see no one else with these creatures I have in mind. Well kind of anyways. There is a difference between demons and devils after all.)
Clarification (because I think of appearance so I can visualize who I'm writing for when I start the profile):

With the "growing ears" part - Is this in the location of specified ears? Like for my cheetah girl - growing ears on top of her head instead of her ears on the sides turning more cheetah like?

The change of scenery was a welcomed thing to Alex. Since coming here, all those voices had left him alone. He felt better, but they weren't about to listen to him about that. Not when the other facility couldn't seem to do anything to help except keep him drugged out of his mind. Every time he let them know all those voices were gone, they'd just wave him off. It didn't seem very productive, weren't people in charge of places like that supposed to be trying to help people like him find a way to exist with the rest of society?

At least in here he had his sister. The last few years sucked not getting to see her. Maybe that was the key to all of it? She was around in here, not that they did talk much, but just that knowledge made it a little more bearable that the staff wasn't listening to him. He debated on finding her, since she hadn't come into the leisure room. His gaze roved over the others though, trying to figure out something to do. There was no one for him to write to, drawing wasn't his thing, and he had done enough puzzles in the last decade to be completely sick of it. He supposed he could poke through the books, and moved off to look through the pathetic collection there was to read.

Jennifer sat, curled into a tight ball on her bed, tucked as far back into the corner of her room as she could get. The sleeves of her sweatshirt balled over her hands, and yet she still felt cold even in the layers. It wasn't one of those topical chills, but a core numbing freeze that she hadn't been able to shake since she was thirteen. And now she was here. Just like her brother. Fitting and gut wrenching all at the same time, she couldn't help but wish they'd just let something end it. Years of disappearing from one place to end up somewhere else and she just wanted it to end. It hadn't happened in the month she had been here, the first reprieve for whatever was happening she had had since it started, but that didn't mean it wouldn't. They said it was all in her head, but not everything could be in her head. She disappeared from one place and reappeared someplace else, and horrible things happened when that happened. Horrible things happened when she actually stayed at the group homes. Horrible things happened all the time.

She curled up tighter, staring at the blankets under her feet. They wouldn't let her just be done with it all, and they wouldn't leave her alone. That latter thought came when a nurse knocked on her door and gave her that same faked sympathetic smile. "Come on, you should socialize." That wasn't a suggestion. She knew that after the month here. When they said you should socialize - you either did it on your own or they got some orderlies to drag you out to the leisure and stood watch to make sure you stayed.

A heavy sigh escaped her. Unfurling from her position hurt a little, probably because she had been sitting there in her thoughts since the last time they made her go socialize. Her knees ached as she stood, but it was a welcomed pain since they wouldn't even give her a fork to eat with; spoons weren't made for eating most foods after all. Hugging the over sized sweatshirt around her, she shuffled out of her room and down the hall.

She stopped just inside the door, looking around at the others before shuffling off to a corner. Just because they said socialize didn't mean they actually made her talk to anyone. The others seemed busy, or at least that's what she told herself as she curled up on a chair in much the same manner as she had sat on her bed. There was nothing she wanted to do less than socialize with anyone in here. Even with her brother poking around at the books and magazines, she didn't want to ruin his good mental health he seemed to be in since he arrived by talking with him. He'd just think she was crazy for thinking something was pulling her places instead of what they all kept telling her - she was just wandering into those situations looking for attention. Why the hell would anyone want to do that? Now that was crazy.
Name: Jennifer MacIntosh
Age: 16
Gender: female
Appearance: Unlike her twin, Jennifer stands only about five foot five. Although they share similar facial structure, it is obvious she has more feminine features where as his are more masculine - her jaw is a softer line that is more rounded where as his is stronger and more squared, his face more squared off than her more rounded features. She shares the same kind of eyes though - best way to see the resemblance - with the same olive green color and thick eyelashes. Her light brown hair is straight, left long to cascade down to about mid-back with bangs that sweep in front of her eyes like a veil and are just barely long enough to tuck behind her ears. Although she's not thin, she is in good enough shape for her slight curves and modest bust to be noticed without having a super taut stomach; at least, her stomach is flat. She tends to prefer multiple layers - tank top under a long sleeve tee-shirt layered with a short sleeve tee-shirt, and a hooded sweatshirt over it all - and is most comfortable in boy pants instead of girl pants with sneakers to top it all off.

Personality: Quiet, meek, and withdrawn are a few of the first things people will notice about her. She doesn't like talking to others, and would rather slink away than speak to anyone except for her brother. The only time she feels comfortable talking to anyone is when he's around. She has massive problems with depression and it isn't hard for others to get her into such moods - especially if making her feel even more helpless than she already does. This girl has no sense of confidence and lacks all self-esteem. She'd rather sit in the back and watch things than be up front and doing something.

Superpower: Teleportation: unlike typical teleportation where one can focus on a location and teleport there, her ability pulls her from where she is to a different location. She knows it's about to happen when she starts getting a migraine and a glimpse of where she's going *usually nothing helpful* flashes into her vision, but that's only seconds before she's torn from where she was and pushed into existence in a different location where someone is in desperate need of help.

Biography: Born fifteen minutes after her twin, there was a complication in the delivery that ultimately cost their mother her life; it wasn't her fault, the woman had been told she would have been discouraged from getting pregnant if they had known about her preexisting condition before hand, but their father doesn't see it that way. They both grew up with the shadow of their mother's death hanging over their head. When her brother first started complaining about hearing things, he was taken to an institute and she was left with all the blame on her. Not a good environment for a child to live in.
Especially not when her ability budded late and it cost her father his life when he rushed into an armed hold up to get her. These unexplained incidents kept happening, and what was worse what that - on top of being pulled to places where she could literally do nothing to help and was only an added liability - she was bounced around the foster care system and dealt with the abuse at the hands of abused children turned abusers. This finally all came to a head when she ended up in yet another dangerous situation and there were witnesses to her disappearance and reappearance. Right after that, she was sent to the asylum before the injuries received from her latest teleportation had even been treated.

Other: She has a history of cutting - but on her wrists instead of thighs and stomach like most females - and has made a few suicide attempts over the past four years. She has been put on suicide watch, and is not allowed near anything sharp, pointy, or the like.

Name: Alexander MacIntosh
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Appearance: Alex stands at about five foot ten. He keeps his light brown hair cut short, and generally styled with gel so it appears darker than it should. He has the olive green eyes that are narrow in shape with somewhat thick eyelashes to help frame them. Lean, he has always had a pension to athletics - such as field and track, football, and baseball - and keeps in very good shape with regular runs/exercise and good diet. Preferring cool/dark monochromatic colored long sleeved shirt - or whatever kind of short sleeve tee-shirt on top of a dark colored long sleeve shirt - typically with loose legged jeans and sneakers.

Personality: Although he does share the traits of being more introverted than extroverted, Alex doesn't have the same inherent dislike for others that his sister does. Despite the ability, he does like to be around people - at least then he feels like there's a reason for him to hear things instead of everything just penetrating his skull. After spending most of his life in an institution, he has a bit of a social impediment and some of his sessions with shrinks is to help him learn to socialize better with others. But in this new institution, with the lack of voices, he finds himself feeling alone and seeks out group interactions - even though he's a bit slow on the uptake for how to converse with others.

Superpower: Telepathy: he hears the ambient thoughts of hose around him, with those that actually touch him becoming a booming voice that drowns out all others.

Biography: With his sister taking most of the blame for their mother's death, he did what he could to comfort her and help share the blame. Unfortunately, he had more and more problems with this as his power emerged at the tender age of seven. It got to the point that his sister's presence wasn't enough to help stave off all the voices. His father assumed it was just a form of psychosis, and sent him to a mental institution where he was pumped full of all kinds of drugs to try to combat the assumed hallucinations. He spent most of his years there, switched from one set of drugs to another and then another. When his sister's powers finally caused her to get put away, a new doctor showed up and reevaluated his condition before transferring him to the same facility.
So, I just wanna say I have so many characters that would fit this, I have to decide which I'm going to put in. I can juggle a lot of characters at once, but considering how many other things I'm in (counting off site too) I'm going to have to limit myself. The hardest part is figuring out who doesn't make the cut. =( Might take me a day or so. I am working on it. Got the list down from 100. (I did say I have a lot of characters, right?)
Okay, thanks for the reassurance. =) Like I said, I can always make the alteration (as shown above) if needed. Really trying to keep any kind of confusion to a minimum.
On the previous page, I had posted the QQCode I would be using for them to help people differentiate, but then Ursa posted up but coding for text that made me start to worry. I hadn't realized other people would use coding. But I also need to differentiate Milo from Otis for myself too, and for when Wayne speaks back in his head, so that's why I didn't go straight up with just italics. I guess I'll just figure out something else.
Ah. Well that makes sense I guess. That all seems like it would be a bit confusing if not everyone does it in an RP, to me anyways, though. Just to be honest there. But it does make sense as far as speaking goes. Have you been in many other RPs where people have used coding to the extent that Ursa has listed?

Do you think that what I've done for Milo and Otis might get confused with the coding you're using? (And would you recommend I use it as well?) Because I can always alter Milo and Otis to a different text format (i.e. {Doing something like this for Milo} and <Something like this for Otis.>)
Well, actually I was wondering why you were using coding instead of just using narration and more descriptive wording. I was inquiring onto why there was a use of coding for distinguishing between when your character is talking and someone not your character is talking - which was noted that there were only our characters in the town and no other living souls - and so forth.
I've been on many sites that have QQCode/BBcodes and this is the first time I'm seeing anyone use coding for distinguishing difference in speaking tone, and in Ursa's case using it to denote narration as well (though the cross out thing I have seen before.)

I mean, I'm using it for Milo and Otis because they're just voices in Wayne's head and not really a 'Milo said' kind of thing since no one else is going to hear the voices. I'm trying to avoid any kind of confusion regarding them.
I'm sorry for asking, but I'm very new to the site, so I've gotta ask, what's with the coding? (Yes, I can read, but what you've put doesn't make sense to me.) If you both could explain, that would be very helpful to my understanding. Thanks bunches!
