@Dextkiller: He did say he was fighting a fierce migraine. Transience might be back on Monday at the earliest, otherwise sometime within the week.
@Corvidae: Sweet! Looking forward to it.
@Dawnscroll: Dawnscroll, please, you wrote three novels for me to read. Ich dachte, ich spanne. I kid, but holy moly, you can write quite a bit, sir/ma'am/[insert nonbinary polite pronoun (is that a thing yet?)].

All that aside, I'd like a reasonable amount of information revealed when the time comes. At least, enough for Transience to make a proper decision on accepting characters and lore fragments. You're not pressed or obligated to create complete lore either; it's easier to tweak stuff to match what we already have if it's possible for bits and pieces of lore to stand on their own.

I'm going to put on my evil villain mask on and snicker maliciously in the basement. (He rubs his hands together with a nefarious physiognomy.) Under my direction, all hell will break loose. Bonds will be broken. The world will be blown asunder. Those dishes will be washed. My tax forms will be complete!

You get the idea. Never expect things to go your way. This roleplay is all about letdowns and a slow, slow burn and spiral into infernal chaos. I like to think that it's every man for himself.

@lydyn: Don't worry, I didn't forget.
I never forget.
But thank you, I'll add it all to the list. I just want people to bring in more information, so we can make the world more cohesive.
@Tuujaimaa: Yeah, I get that, but it'd also be nice to have at least a clue about what you guys are doing. Plus, it'd be easier if we could perhaps control the flow of ideas by making sure they're consistent with established lore.
Yeaaah. It just feels a little, y'know, hush-hush, closed-doors to the rest of us. Share the process with us, y'all.
@Dextkiller: Any non-humanoid creature, regardless of sentience, belongs in the Bestiary.
Making a little compendium of things. Ignore if you wish.

Also going to start summarizing things so far. That'll be in the hider below when it's done.

Help with gathering data (both from IC and OOC) is very much appreciated. If you've got anything I don't, please tell me. I'd also like some help describing everything and putting timeframes on stuff. It'll make it easier to make our map more accurate and update the lore and bestiary.
@Dawnscroll: Literally nobody here has the power to do that, and I don't think it was intentional either.
To disseminate any misconceptions, I will make a statement to affirm my position on the matter.

Bear in mind, however, that I am only proxy to Transience, and my opinion does not necessarily represent Transience's stance.

Starless will continue to accept new players in the meantime, and we will never close our doors to fresh minds and new insights for now. To my knowledge, there are many people who are new or returning to roleplaying, and I am open to them if they add special flavor to the roleplay.

That said, I would not go as far to indiscriminately allow new players. The bar has been set by those who came before them, and if new players do not meet the roleplay's standards, then we reserve the right to deny them entry. It is a GMs job to assure that each character is different and game-changing, and it is a storyteller's job to preserve the evolving nature of a story; as such, I echo the sentiments of other veteran players when I say that I would like for new players to create truly interesting and unique characters who impress us and build on the expectations which our first players set.

We will not prohibit joining entirely unless the roleplay has progressed to a point where accepting new players is unthinkable. That is not and has never been our policy. It is not conducive to writing improvement or to lively roleplaying for veterans to behave with hostility and imprudence towards novices. I, like most, want a roleplay that has consistently active players, and I do not think accepting one-and-done players is productive to that end. That said, I also believe that taking on active players who are not terribly far below our standard is not out of the question. We should keep an open mind and welcome players who are inspired by and interested in the roleplay, and we should encourage them to grow as writers and as storytellers with us; it has been said before that this roleplay is, after all, closer to a collaborative story than it is to a game. We are not yet in the thick of the roleplay, and until then, when it will be too late for anyone to join, we will likely continue accepting players.

Lastly, I want to seek a solution to the issue that will allow Transience and I as GMs to control our workload. I do not want to be incredibly burdened with an excessive influx of newbies. A staggered-entry system and a waiting list are among the ideas which I found best for flow control.

I think that some newbies are a little paranoid that the opportunity to join might disappear entirely, and I promise you that it won't go away for a while. There's still time left to join, and if you're worthy, we're not opposed to letting you in. In kind, I also think that some veterans are concerned that the roleplay will become overrun with novice players and that the expectations that they had when they first joined might collapse. Rest assured all, I will try and do what I can to satisfy as many as possible without hurting anyone.
'Tis I, your loyal co-GM and Lord Protector of the Starless Roleplay, here to answer your questions, @yoshua171.

Finally, I would like to remind everyone that anything I say may not be 100% correct and that @Transience is the final authority on all things here, and he can verify whether the things which I have said were true or not.

One more thing. I invite everyone who has submitted lore in the OOC to present it, so that we may keep record. After I take care of some business, I will try to reread the IC and summarize the plot.

Edit: I also think, like @Vigfast, that the roleplay lends itself more as a story than it does as a game, and the goal is not to make powerful characters, but to create interesting, developed characters who do their duty as plot drivers. In the future, I plan on revealing Altim's flaws and showing that these legends are not all that they are presented as. That too seems to be the major theme; these are great figures, but the plot gives strong reminders that they are not as good as history makes them sound. Do not make a character that is strong or flawless, make a character that is unique, defective, and rife with lessons to be learned.
