Got my new sci-fi mecha RP up. Put a lot of work into the background of this one, and wrote out a whole setting

Cambozola is definitely A-Tier. It combines all the best parts of Brie with Blue Cheese, what's not to like.

Guess the mecha RP idea wasn't as popular or as interesting as I hoped it might be. Not much in the way of bites on that one so far, sadly

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

Sounds awesome, count me in.

Great stuff, glad to have another aboard! I'll be getting more info up tomorrow, gathering a few references before my NYE party tonight ;)
this sounds very very awesome, if you'll take me im in

I'd be glad to have you aboard, and good to see there's more interest too.
With you along that meets the minimums I had in mind.
It's New Year's Eve, so I'm not expecting to get much done today (well, not for RP anyway), but I'll try and gather my info together tomorrow and get the OOC up by Saturday with a lot more info on the background, plot and so on.
I'll most likely have all of my story docs and background posted off-site on Google Docs and link them back, as it makes it easier for updates and references, and then have CS's stored on site in the relevant tab and backed up off-site too.

Great to see there's some interest developing, and I'm looking forward to getting this going with everyone too.
Another fighter RP? Sure, I'll do it.

And this time it's a sci-fi space-fighter one. So, it might work a bit better in some ways than the more conventional fighter ones I've run before. Glad to have you along again though. Just one more person and I have the minimum I'm after. Hopefully we'll get a few more peeps!
I'm game for this!

Well, that makes two including me :-/
Hopefully there'll be a few more people coming along - I'm really keen to run this.
So, I recently saw a certain film which involved wars and stars, as I'm sure a lot of other people on this site have. I've also always been both a bit of a sci-fi buff and extremely keen on fighter combat and operations.

I have a setting prepared in my head I've built up over the years, influenced heavily by a wide array of sci-fi works, but very much its' own original and independent creation, and I think it'd be a good space for roleplaying. I have the idea of the player group acting in a very 'Rogue Squadron' sort of mold; space-fighter pilots who are also trained to operate as commandos (helps keep things varied, and can be up close and personal when needed), going out and running raids, doing daring deeds, and otherwise kicking ass and taking names.

I've got ideas for various races people can choose from to play, and models of fighter to be used. I also have a structured plot and background ready to go too, something involving the return of an enemy long thought defeated, and the slow uncovering of the reality of their true size and the extent they're prepared, and how long they've been watching and waiting, and how far they've infiltrated galactic society so far, leading up to an all-out, balls-to-the-wall crescendo of a final act.

The tone would be much like the Star Wars movies; mainly an adventurous, exciting and hopeful one, with moments of darkness and tragedy, as well as ones of levity and light-heartedness.
I'm looking to run things as a high-level casual, probably advanced game, with a minimum of four players, and maximum of eight.
While I am going to be restricting fighters to ones I am creating only, there will be opportunities to customise your own craft for individual preference, and different people may specialize in different roles in the group as well, to add to the individuality.
I'm mainly doing this to keep consistency, and to make things easier and more logical in-universe. Also, take a look at the majority of fiction out there, in most of it all the characters pilot the same models of craft and are still distinctive and memorable.

I am also only allowing pilot characters, no ship crews, mechanics, ground troopers or other non-pilot characters. As it is, everyone will be trained for ground ops too, so you'll get a chance to get up close and personal when a mission includes it, but it will be alongside other operations, and the whole aim and focus is on a fighter squadron and their operations.

I'm hoping this will - excuse the pun - fly with people and be popular, as I'm excited to run it!
Well, I'm back from my christmas break. Both glad and sad to see I haven't missed too much
Alright I am back

And so am I!
I'll be away for a few days from the 23rd, so if the OOC goes up or anything, then I might be a little bit late to the party. I am certainly still extremely interested though.
I'm going away for a few days for Christmas on the 23rd, and I'm not going to have internet access, or at least well enough to write a post, while I'm away. I don't think I'll have time to get one up before then either, so carry on without me and I'll catch up if need be when I return.
Heh, I recognise that U'logg mecha from my Battletech days xD
