Got my new sci-fi mecha RP up. Put a lot of work into the background of this one, and wrote out a whole setting

Cambozola is definitely A-Tier. It combines all the best parts of Brie with Blue Cheese, what's not to like.

Guess the mecha RP idea wasn't as popular or as interesting as I hoped it might be. Not much in the way of bites on that one so far, sadly

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

Follow up question, what sort of role would I have on the team? I have an idea for a stealth and infiltration kind of role but if you have something else in mind I'm all ears.

As an aside, have you hosted a game like this before? Your name seems super familiar, and the first game I played on this site was an anthro mecha RP with a similar name. C:

TBH, I'd struggle to find another specific role if I'm honest; as Esailia says, stealth isn't overly practical in a mecha, even a small one like a GEAR, and it's kind of a given that we're all pretty stealthy since the Ghost Hunters are a Special Forces unit anyway (which also means that we can all probably do a bit of one anothers' roles, but some are just better at it than others).
Max also does probably cover the position as far as it would go in the unit too; recon/marksman is kind of target designation, pinpointing of enemy key figures, weapons, etc for destruction by the rest of the group, as well as taking out particular high-value targets, and pinpointing key figures or items of interest for capture.
I'm not really sure how 'infiltration' would fit in as far as a mech-based unit would go either. And as has been said, we're going to be primarily in the mecha, with occasional sojurns on foot out of the cockpit, potentially in the same missions.
I suppose you could have an 'assault' specialist who uses close-range weapons such as melee or shotguns but that's about the best I can come up with - someone who's a bit more of an all-rounder and uses regular mid-range battlefield weapons - ie a rifleman sort of type - would actually be pretty helpful, as over-specialising is just as bad anyway. And as said; in real-life Special Forces everyone can do each others' jobs, and in the game, GEARs are modular as far as weapons go too, so all it takes is a few equipment swaps to make any GEAR do any job.

Also, to answer your second question, yes; you played a previous iteration of this game and setting xD

Oh heck, anthro mechas.

Shame it's full, otherwise I'd be in this in a heartbeat ^w^

If you want to join, I can probably make a space; while I did say six initially, I can probably cope with seven, and it wouldnt' be too difficult to introduce another character at this point - if you're quick with putting a CS together, anyway.

Also, regarding posts: I'll put a GM post up by end of Sunday to get things back into gear (pun not intended).
Everything seems to have gone quiet - I'm back from my writing quest, and successfully; managed to hit 50,000 words early.
Doesn't seem like many posts have gone up. I imagine thanksgiving took most of our U.S. players away for a while.
I'll get a post up to move things on in the next day or so though, and to try and get the life pumped back into things
Things have been pretty quiet, anything to worry about, or is it because most of you are American and Thanksgiving happened?
@Silverwind Blade

Yep, whatever works :P

Glad to hear we're all moving- stuff is getting exiting wtih the other loadouts people have :)

I've only gone and sprained my ankle badly so I'll be cooking up a post today to get my mind off it. I'm writing wtih the intent that our team is all getting in their GEARs and prepping for departure?

No, not quite that close yet; we've got a short helicopter ride to the amphibious ship for our final briefing, then it'd be time to mount up in our GEARs.
Just getting everything to the same place so I can have the briefing, and then basically get us to the point we'll be launching
Scott looked on with disbelief, sliding the visor on his helmet up to get a better look as the planes in front of him just... disappeared, literally, into the sky around them. Had they not been confirmed on radar a moment earlier by the AWACS, then he would've worried for his own sanity or his eyesight, but instead he simply marvelled at the sight and felt a sense of frustration. His gloved thumb rested on the arming switch for the GAU-8 in the A-10's nose for a moment; he considered firing a burst and hoping he got a lucky hit; but it didn't seem worth it. The mess he'd get into if he hit something else by accident wouldn't be nearly worth the satisfaction of just blatting off a few rounds, or the sliver of a chance he'd hit something anyway.

Teale: "I dunno if we're gonnaAAAAGH! Fuck's sake!"

Teale: "Angel Squad, this is Angel-2. A bird went splat on my window. Limited visibility for me, over."

He looked over to Teale's plane in alarm as she called in the bird strike. Flying at low altitude most of his career, he'd had a few of his own, and had known other pilots that had bad run-ins with them. Infamous was the story he'd heard of an F-111 that had gone down with both crew killed after getting a pelican through the windscreen.
"Roger that, Angel-2. I'm with you, don't panic. Looks like your canopy is intact, and you're flying fine. Closing up formation on your starboard".
He slid the A-10 into position off of her right wingtip, waggling his jets' wings a little in acknowledgement, and nodding in understanding as she gestured to the splatter of red on the aircrafts' canopy, returning an encouraging thumbs up before contacting the AWACS.
"Gravestone, this is Angel-4. Bandits have... well, uh, disappeared. Literally, right in front of my eyes. No sign of them visually, and could not get positive ID on their markings or nationality. Can confirm that I have not been drinking while flying and that I am actually awake and well-rested. May also request appointment with the flight surgeon after landing, over".
Okay, IC post is up to move things along; nothing big, just getting everyone together and then off for our final briefing before the mission kicks in. Will give Silver another chance to actually chat to people and get us all moving again and up to the same place and moment before we launch.

Lol, Max is technically lower ranked than everyone, he's a Warrant Officer (which isn't a formal officer's rank, but basically an assignment of rank to someone like Max who is considered a more "technical" expert or team leader in terms of reconaissance. It's a more common thing in SF, I hear). He hasn't properly gone through full Officer's training as a result, which is rather interesting...

Forgot to mention this earlier, lol. TBH, I didn't actually assign ranks in the first place anyway, and I just chose Lieutenant
as it's a flying rank in most air forces. I supposed Warrant Officer would work too, as I know in the US Army (at least) helicopter pilots are Warrants, but I just went with what was quick and obvious to me.
TBH, I doubt it'll actually come up that much - I certainly don't intend it to, and I'm not leaning heavily on the military side of realism here, just enough to make it seem competent and make sense, rather than getting into the grit of it. Could be that since Solernia has combined forces, there's a gap made up... or we're all Warrants and Silverwind is the captain, which I kind of like more, lol. Whatever works, tbh xD

Also, just a quick mention of hardpoints for GEARs; they have the following:

Right Shoulder
Left Shoulder
Right Forearm
Left Forearm

Those are the main weapon hardpoints

Stowage/Storage hardpoints for hand-held equipment are:

L & R Hip - for sidearms, or short weapons/tools, hand grenades or additional magazines
Rear waist - for a longarm or two-handed weapon such as a rifle
Under Shield - for magazines for weapons, or hand grenades

External armour/equipment packages can also be fitted, but these are not based around the hardpoints, and use more elaborate and complete systems.

I do like the loadout form, I'll probably use it myself ^^

Silverwind made a show of raising an eyebrow and feigning ignorance at Max's comment regarding his conversation with his tech. "No idea what yer talkin' about," he said with amusement, folding his arms. He followed the lion's look to his GEAR and nodded slowly. "They're supposed to be the best," he replied. "Best that we can get, anyways. An' y'all have piloted one before, so if ya have any tips fer the rest of us, then feel free ta spill. As fer a paint job," he mused, rubbing the bottom of his muzzle with the back of his cybernetic hand. "...I'll let ya know. Let's see how this mission goes first, eh?"
He turned to look over the rest of the bay; the remainder of the units' pilots were animatedly engaged with their own technicians, their GEARs underway in being loaded out for the upcoming mission. He hoped there'd be time for tweaks once they rendezvoused with the flotilla and received their final briefing; and indeed, given the assault itself was amphibious in nature, he expected there'd be some need to minor tweaks given the GEARs having to be moved from ship to shore through one method or another, but that was yet to be revealed.
Almost on cue, his pebble chirped a signal, and he excused himself from Max and slid the device onto his left forearm. It interfaced with the electronics in the cybernetic limb, customised by a friend and an investment of several bottles of aged Lantrean Whiskey, and a holographic screen sprang into life in the air above his arm.
The ships's XO appeared in the screen. "Captain. We'll be making our rendezvous with the remaining ships in twenty minutes. A helo from the amphibious assault ship will be landing on the fantail in five, they'll be taking your unit aboard for final briefings. We'll catch up to you at the ship".
"Understood, sir. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have my people ready to leave".
Silverwind turned back to Max with a nod as he shut the screen down.
"Looks like it's about ta get interestin'. Time to round up the kids, we're goin' on a flight".
The fox raised his voice and yelled above the hubbub of the hangar bay. "HUNTERS, FRONT AN' CENTER! WE GOT A FLIGHT INCOMIN'!"

Sorry I haven't made a post for a while; I've been a bit exhausted after getting back from my con/holiday, and have mostly been catching up on sleep and also been at work. Plus there were a couple of home disasters that took my time as well.
Hopefully I'll be able to catch up after the weekend and get back into things. Just wanted to make a post and let y'all know that I am still interested and still here. Just temporarily absent.
Hey sorry for the tardiness on posting, been having a tough week but I hope to post this weekend

Yes, sorry for the same from my end too - the holiday/con took a lot more out of me than I expected, and I've been playing catch up on sleep and energy to be able to do anything, despite my best efforts. However, I'm hoping to get things back on course after the weekend and will come back with a new post to move the plot along and get us back in action.
