Got my new sci-fi mecha RP up. Put a lot of work into the background of this one, and wrote out a whole setting

Cambozola is definitely A-Tier. It combines all the best parts of Brie with Blue Cheese, what's not to like.

Guess the mecha RP idea wasn't as popular or as interesting as I hoped it might be. Not much in the way of bites on that one so far, sadly

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.
@CaptainBritton Putnam looks fine to me, no problems with him whatsoever. Looks like he'll be an interesting addition to the group, and I love the Jesta too.
That's the minimum number of characters I wanted to hit for us to begin, so I'll get to work on an opening post to get us started by the weekend.
No problems - have been a bit slow on replying and picking up on replies, but haven't forgotten or lost interest; just taking a while to get my own replies up. Will get one up soon though!
@Silverwind BladeAnother thing though gundam.fandom.com/wiki/Marion_Whelch is said to have been freed from the Exam System meaning it'd be inert in all likelihood. Unless you want to keep her trapped in that hell for the sake of the story.
Yeah, I'm aware of that - I used to have the manga, in fact. I'm going along the lines of someone else - who, clearly knowing it does as such is evidently an evil asshole - uses the research to re-create the system using another Newtype. TBH, I don't want to go into too many more details, as it'll start giving all of it away, and there won't be much of a story to uncover otherwise. But yes, I am aware of the origins of the system and the nature of it, don't worry. I appreciate the input, and that you're trying to help, but I have done research, and am aware enough of canon to know a few things. And the ones that I don't know, well, I'm deliberately either leaving them out, or making my own thing out of it if it turns out not to work for what I have in mind. After all, this is my game, not the canon. The canon is just the starting point for our story.
@Silverwind BladeA quick question? Why allow the Pale rider if it has HADES unless the system was overhauled to just be a simple boost to performance. A reminder that the HADES system literally drives its pilot insane. Also unless I'm mistaken all the Pale Riders were destroyed.
There's enough ambiguity and wiggle room to allow for one Pale Rider (at least) to have survived from what I read about the mobile suit on the Gundam Wiki. And in discussion with Tate he's asked it to be equipped with EXAM instead of HADES, and I said 'sure' with the caveat that it'll come up as part of the story later, considering that EXAM is powered by pure evil in a can the captive soul of a Newtype. I mean, I'm going to go with the idea that it's not common knowledge that's a thing, so our characters likely wouldn't be aware of that right away - which makes it an interesting plot point to deal with when it comes to light.
He looks pretty good - only thing I would ask is if you could edit the character sheet for formatting; just sort the underlining and bold out for the titles. Looks fine otherwise though
@vancexentan I can run it with just the four of us well enough if need be. I'd prefer more, but that's a suitable amount to make things work, as long as people are fairly reliable. We can always play multiple characters as well, or something like that.
No worries, there's no rush at the moment to get things started, and I tend to run things in a fairly relaxed manner as far as urgency goes any way. Just pop me a message whenever you can, and I'll get back to you
@ReedeThe23rdNo problems with not following exactly to the sheet, Vance didn't either and his character is fine. Yours hits all the main beats and has all the information we/I need on there, and that's what matters. Really interesting character, I can see a lot of potential for him to get involved in some really interesting character conflicts, and the potential for some friction between him and other members of the unit, which could be good too.
Also regarding the Nemo as an older mobile suit, that could be interesting in itself - a good pilot in an older unit can still be devastating and effective, as seen in Gundam Unicorn and the attack on Torrington. Plus there's always the potential to upgrade if you want to at a later date... and it's just kind of cool having someone use an older unit and keep up with the others as well. I think it's a neat character trait, and is very typically 'anime' as well.
