Got my new sci-fi mecha RP up. Put a lot of work into the background of this one, and wrote out a whole setting

Cambozola is definitely A-Tier. It combines all the best parts of Brie with Blue Cheese, what's not to like.

Guess the mecha RP idea wasn't as popular or as interesting as I hoped it might be. Not much in the way of bites on that one so far, sadly

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

Almost as if in answer to Max's question as to them getting going, the transports engines howled to life, the sound building up rapidly. Lights inside the bay flashed as the ramp came up, and the loadmaster directed them all to take their seats and strap.
It didn't take long before the plane started to roll. From inside there wasn't much to see, but the sense of movement was real as the aircraft rolled onto the runway and accelerated.

The flight passed with little event for the most part. Silverwind used the time to get some sleep, and to eat. After all, there was little else to do. The only other thing was to review the mission data again, and run through options for the assault, and keep up to date - as much as they could - with any intel from the scene.
Matt threw the RGZ-91 through another series of tight manoeuvers. Full throttle on all thrusters from the backpack, before abruptly flipping orientation and braking. He spun on the spot using AMBAC maneuvering, the suits' sensors easily locking onto the nearest stationary target and ripping off a burst of fire from the Re-GZ's head vulcans, tracers drawing vibrant lines through the darkness of space. A flick of the controls threw the mobile suit's left arm out and blasted off a pair of rocket-propelled grenades into another target, before he blasted away into a weaving, high-speed pattern of moves, rinsing the mobile suits' flight computers through a demanding routine.
"That looks good, Matt," the voice of the flight controller came through the speakers in his normal suits' helmet. "Telemetry from the latest set of manoeuvers looks good; tightening up the response time from the vernier thrusters in the right leg seems like it was a good call. You can head on back now".
"Roger that, control," he replied as he throttled back, letting the suit drift with its' momentum, spinning to face the distant gleam that marked the control ship. "I'm returning-" he cut off as a warbling chirp from the Re-GZ's sensors interrupted him. The machine had picked up something unusual, some kind of electromagnetic disturbance that was growing in intensity.
"Control, I'm picking up some unusual interference, some kind of signal. I'm moving to investigate, over"
The reply was muted and choppy with static, and he pressed one gloved hand to the side of his helmet with a frown, trying to pick out words as he spun to face the direction of the interference as it grew closer. He fed a little thrust into the RGX-91's engines and moved closer. At once, the suits' warnings sounded, warbling alerts flashing up. At the same instant, pressure grew in his head, a throbbing headache building from behind his eyes and pounding against his skull. His vision swam and he physically reeled, shuddering in his seat. Shimmering double vision clouded his sight and the speakers of his helmet blasted static, the displays of the suit throwing our alert after alert, as the pressure in his skull grew to a roaring pounding... and then blackness washed over him as a relief.

Some Time Later, Somewhere Else...

Consciousness returned with a jolt, and a brief shout of some unremembered dream or memory. Matt gasped in air, through the now-open shield of his helmet. The cockpit of the Re-GZ hummed comofortably around him, with no trace of the earlier signal. He rubbed one hand across his face, chasing away the last bits of drowsiness and disorientation before he turned his attention to the Re-GZ. The mobile suits' displays showed that he was no longer in space, something that he couldn't account for. He didn't recognise his surroundings either. In the distance, a tall building that looked Chinese or Japanese in origin rose, and closer by were what looked like the functional, drab shapes of military buildings and structures. More interesting still were the two mobile suits and a ship of some kind that showed up on the suits' sensors. None of them matched anything familiar enough to make an identification, but there was nothing else around to make contact with, no signs of any known frequencies or signals. With no signs of other life, Matt made the decision to head toward the other mobile suits.

Just a bump to keep interest going. Have been putting some lore and background together for this. Hopefully there might be some more interest, but even if there isn't, I'll run it as a small game with just the three of us. It'll still work well enough.
So, I have a question: If the suit/s we're interested in are ground types, can we assume they've been modified for space use, or do we just need to pick something else?
All looks great so far, I'm keen to get involved. I'll have a think and get some ideas together for a character. I won't be playing a canon character, I find it pretty difficult to do them justice.
I might go with a grunt suit upgraded to a high-end variant over time; I'll have a think and if I need to air some ideas I'll post in here. Thanks for having me so far.
I'm currently doing custom training with a STAR WARS Imperial Royal Guard T.I.E. Interceptor and a command-ship similar to the one in Turok but like Halo. It'll teach me how to arch, navigate, and reconoiter against Enemy-Sevens.

I'm saving this post to conduct quantum studies, like sharpshooting, aeronotics, logistics, input, coertion, drama psyche as well\and stellar behavior.

Not really sure what you're saying here, but thanks I guess?

You know your name would make a great title for this.

Interested.

Glad you're interested, and I have a title in mind already, one to re-use - but I'll take that as a compliment!
I'll get to work putting together some info for a setting and the RP as a whole, with an aim to having it up at the end of the week, if not sooner. I want to put together some deep lore for this, as it's something I've been wanting to do right for ages.
Hopefully we might get a couple more people onboard too.
Excellent, glad to hear it! Let's hope there's a few others as well.
I've been trying to run a game based around modern-era fighter aircraft on the Guild for ages, or even just to play in one. There have been numerous attempts over the years, though they're usually pretty few and far between, and despite a lot of them being damn good or having a lot of potential, they always just die out. And the same for most group RP's I've run the last couple of years in general too.
But I'm going to give this a try, dammit, because I want my fighter-jet based game.

I'm not thinking of something strictly realistic and overly gritty in detail. I'm aiming more for an Ace Combat/Area 88/HAWX feel than directly and accurately simulating modern day aerial warfare. There will be attention to which planes you fly and what weapons they can carry, and how many of them (no 100+ missiles), and I'm looking to keep some element of that at least mostly realistic. But I won't be worrying about the gritty specifics of every other aspect, like what electronic systems your plane has, etc etc etc.
I also want to incorporate some larger-than-life sci-fi elements, like Ace Combat has. Things like globe-spanning conspiracies, hi-tech superweapons, advanced tech alongside modern day things. That kind of stuff to make it a bit more interesting than just another modern-day thriller.

I haven't decided which level it's going in yet - although it definitely won't be free, because ew - but will likely be casual or Advanced, just so there's enough room to actually get some decent story and plot into a post.
I generally run games with a good element of adventure and plot-based story to them, with a good sense of humour being an absolutely requirement, alongside being able to suspend your sense of disbelief and just throw yourself into enjoying things.
I know a good bit about modern-day aircraft. I don't claim to be any kind of expert, but I know what's what, and I hope I can use that knowledge to help others if they're not sure.

The main jist would be sort of a Rogue Squadron style set up; a unit of specialists and their aircraft, which would be picked by the players, carrying out missions handed out by some group, against a specific enemy, building toward an eventual confrontation with each mission.
I'm thinking the setting may have some post-apocalyptic elements, but not sure yet; if it does, it won't be total 'Mad Max'. At the moment I'm just spitballing ideas, but I don't want to dedicate myself to writing out a complete setting and posting up all the details if there's going to be no interest.

Hoping for about three to six players including myself, and hoping for ones that will actually stick with it rather than dropping out after two posts as well.
If worst comes to worst, I'll run it as a 1x1, if there's no further interest.
