Bio

Hello hello I am Rica.

I'm a 27 year old retail worker who enjoys general nerdy shit, I spend most of my time playing video games and often pausing to roleplay in between. Because I apparently can't do anything without multitasking.

I'm forgetful and easily distracted so I tend to wander away without thinking. Generally sort of a space case.

I mostly roleplay content involving queer people and especially queer women so I'm usually searching for one-on-one roleplays involving FxF pairings.

If you wanna roleplay with me, PM me! We can plan there or if you'd rather email or talking OOC through discord I can provide that for you as well.

Also AIM because I have at least one person I'm still using that for.

Coming from a actual queer person on the whole gay pride parade things. (And, somewhat on the whole LGBTQ+ spaces in general since they are related)

It's far less about all those things and more about breaking out of the society that assumes we're heterosexual until told otherwise and giving us a space to be open and free with who we are. A celebration of all things LGBTQ+. A celebration of who we are in a world that would love nothing more than to stomp us into the ground.

It's the same reason there's gay spaces created specifically for queer people. Because every other day of the year. Every other public venue is generally catered to heterosexual people.

And since we've been told repeatedly we're not welcome in those spaces...we made our own.

It's similar to why there's a Black History Month and not a White History Month.

Because every other month in the year is White History Month.

So until these issues are fixed, we'll take our days to be out and proud and surrounded by a community of us. It's a wonderful feeling.
Awww yiss party under the community hat! I'll bring the snacks!

@Vilageidiotx I'm not blaming that exclusively. I'm a queer woman. I know all too well the various factors in all this crap.

That said I'm also not going to pretend how media treats non-straight white cisgendered male characters doesn't say a lot about how society thinks of those people. And it in turn has a influence on how we as a society think of these people. It's a beast that feeds itself.

I only used it as a example because of the recent outcry due to the constant killing of queer women on television. Not just side characters either. Main characters who happened to be lesbian or bisexual.

That's not even considering the amount of abuse the (mostly queer) fandoms get if they 'ship' a queer pairing. See: Once Upon a Time's Swan Queen fandom treatment by the Captain Swan fandom. It's not just a ship war, there are genuine malicious attacks that are homophobic in nature and often specifically attempting to harm the other person because they, for once, want to see a happy ending queer story.

There are a lot of factors but the recent systematic killing off of queer women on television, followed closely by a intentional massacre of this same demographic are related.

Even if it's just proof saying that this was a specific LGBTQIA targeted attack on my people.
Technically you're right.

In reality how we treat people in media tells a lot about what we think of them, and in turn also influences how we think of them.

There's a reason queer people are more likely to die and least likely to have a happy ending.

There's a reason that within 2015-2016 29 LGBTQIA characters were killed at least 10 of those were in 2016 alone and were all queer women.

There's a reason and its not a good one.
