Where's the dislike button.

Working on getting it named @Albatross City
While I'm all for healthy, vigorous debate and all, I'm gonna have to call for an end to the name calling and stuff. The big mods let me police this place how I see fit, which is usually to let you all sort it out.
@Rilla
Been some big adjustments to my character. Please review and let me know how it's looking.

Cheers!

Looking good.

I haven't accepted any yet, just in case people wanted to make any changes
Worren's only real other magic is summoning his weapons. As opposed to Trent, who manipulates his staves to be small, and wearable on a necklace, or Derik whose body is made up of chains.

He can't, for instance, use the gestures to generate electricity with hand seals. They are just his chosen method of employing fire.

You are right, I would. The tournament is designed to give people a simple ay of manipulating things, such as Worren with Fire and heat, they can be closely related, same with Earth and Metal.

The real motivation behind Worren and his ilk. Is that they all manipulate a element, a closely related side element, and can manipulate their chosen weapons.

Element characters can be unique, however. As an example, me and you would use the same element/side in different fashions. Worren wouldn't create magma, or use heat to propel himself. Lots of people use fire and such in different ways. I have a combustion character who employs explosions to speed himself up.

As for your question, I would personally lean volcano for fire, air for tornado(you aren't using the tornado to break off into icicles), and steam, I would probably lean towards air, but that's just me as well. My air character, whose name I forget but uses nunchaku, manipulates Air/Ash, so I would consider steam not being too far fetched. Probably couldn't create it,b it could control it. Others may have a completely different view of it. In a tournament of this ilk, but perhaps not configured for newcomers, those things can be expanded to fit in other elements, actually, in this one if done properly, I would probably allow it not good argument was made.

It made sense.
It's a good starter character, really fit for the tournament. Could probably add more abilities to the magic side.
@BrokenPromise

As far as Worren, other of my characters like him, have similar abilities. Trent, Levius, Derik, and one other, all specialize in an element/weapon combo. For Trent, it would be the size/weight/length manipulation of staffs and earth/metal manipulation.

So for Worren, hr specialized in ninja weapons, and can use runes to summon them.

For the character, it's actually a pretty well drawn out character. For the purposes of the tournament, I would probably limit it to just heating things instead of cooling them, provided there isn't a definitive level she can cool them too, because it can easy toe the line of ice creation and whatnot. As well as ask if there was any more enchantments she can use to avoid 'batmanning', which is essentially the act of pulling stuff out of your ass on the basis of 'there are others (s)he can use, but aren't listed.' The arena is really particular on knowing what all a character is capable of to avoid such situations.

Outside of the tournament though, it would be a good character to have.
We were glad to have you, and sad to have lost you.

Wouldn't that then made it NOT a hive mind? Kind of nulls the point if someone is the head.

Someone has to control you guys.
Am I the head of the hive mind?
I'm speaking as someone who's very exited to see how this whole thing plays out, but not feeling like it would be worth my while participating in. I say this with a character sheet resting in my inbox that I made to what I perceived to be the specs for this tournament.

I think this is a great idea, or at least it would have been a great idea. But you've already got people submitting and possibly working on applications for this. I do think Darth's points would at the very least be worth looking at.

If this thing is still in the ideas/conceptual stage, I have a few observations.

As someone who's been rollplaying for a while and doesn't have more than one joke arena battle to their name, The following things are my primary concerns with arena in no particular order:

Arena players are jerks.

It's just two people beating each other up with no storytelling.

It's competitive.

While my previous experiences with arena players outside the arena section has been that they are argumentative, stubborn beasts, I can now see that not every arena player is deserving of that reputation. You guys can be pretty fun, level headed, and even agreeable. If this tourney does one thing for arena, it will be to clear away arena's reputation of being a toxic community.

The second one is just wrong. When you actually look at some of these battles, they are more than just slug fests. Sure, some of them are, but the really good ones actually are based around a story. The stories are as diverse as the arena players themselves.

The competitive element... Make no mistake about it, I have no problem playing competitive card games or the occasional team based FPS. But these affairs do not require me to interact as “intimately” with my opponent. I have no problem creating a story cooperatively with a bunch of strangers, but I'm not sure I could do the same thing competitively.

I'm not sure if this is what you already had planned, but I think what would help alleviate some of the anxiety is for everyone to have like a tutorial sparring match with their mentor. It would help write the story and give everyone a bit more insight of what's expected of them. I don't think people outside of arena are as uncreative/inexperienced as you think, they just don't know what's cheating and what's fair in your eyes. As an example, the fire ninja that is linked in the first post has dominance over fire, but they can create steel weapons. Isn't that more in the realm of earth/metal than fire/heat?

If you want. I can go over the sheet for you. This may be worth your while, as creating stories is a large part of what we do and there js a lot of fun to be had in creating your own, as well as being involved in the evolution of someone else's character.

Competition is our lifeblood. Really. But we have learned to make our fights exciting. Me and Guru, for instance, have a story built up over years of interacting anf it's mainly still all competition between us, to try and have the top family. And it's the same in some respects for us all.

Also, I am throwing my name in as.

A participant. #cheatmode.

Wait. Guru just informed me that I am not allowed. But I can mentor.
