Meowka had listened to plenty of the conversation as she approached the room, following Katherine's heels. The puppeteer didn't seem to mind her being around today, which seemed to make her happy. The girl's tail went back and forth happily, especially as the bookish woman gave a reply.
"Miss K-Katherine? Sure, that would be an honor-" Selvina began to reply, but the familiar was already doing the job of putting her in her place with an authoritarian tone.
"Of course it is." The cat glared at the noblewoman, who looked around a bit awkwardly before returning her attention to Livia, who discussed the issues with moving in. Selvina thought for a few moments, but after a bit of deliberative thought couldn't help but bring herself to agree - or at least understand - the Headmistress' hesitation with the idea. Sure, it was a tradition for wizards. But at the end of the day, she wasn't even a full professor or researcher.
"I ... I think you are right, aft-""Of course she's RIGHT. The only person worthy of having any monument to her name around here is Mistress Katherine. Learn your place, apprentice. You should be glad to know you are apprenticing beneath the most powerful mage in the world." For a couple of seconds she realized that the headmistress was therefore considered lesser than her own owner, but after a couple of seconds realized she had been correct. After all, no one but the strongest could have ever captured her. Obviously.
The noblewoman looked at the teacher's familiar a bit confused, and tried to hide the disagreement on her face to hopefully prevent the cat from having another outburst.
"A-anyways. Towers are really just a tradition, but I know you don't exactly appreciate that ... do you have any suggestions about somewhere large I could move in on campus, then? Perhaps something large enough for five people to live ... comfortably? In case I have guests? Maybe an abandoned manor or a large townhouse of sorts? Any ideas on where I could find someone to work in Sly's place as well? I need to keep that promise."Meowka seemed content with the noble girl's response, and instead decided to give her obviously important input to the other conversation.
"Eith is that dog, right? Why do we care about her?" It was hard to tell if Meowka meant
we as in all the civilized folk in the room, or
we as in her mistress but either way she seemed a bit confused.
"I thought you liked cats, mistress? I never took you for one to enjoy the company of a mutt."Sel was a bit curious about the ritual, but kept her mouth shut. She'd probably learn more that way.
The farmer's eyes opened to the world slowly, her arms stretching out from Cocoa's tight embrace.
Oh, I nearly forgot about that. Though she'd a pleasant thing to wake up to. Otille found herself petting her familiar's head before she stopped - no matter how cute Cocoa always managed to be the petting would wake her up, and that was rude. The peasant slipped out from the bed, stretching her limbs and yawning as she woke up, looking down at her pet as she headed over to their meager belongings.
She still wished she had what she had what she had gotten before. Then she could have gotten Cocoa something that would actually fit a bit better. And maybe something pretty for herself as well. Still though, the girl slipped into another one of her dresses and looked out the window. She still had at least a few hours before she was supposed to meet up with that pretty, dreamy, noble knightess. She had said something about negotiating the debt, but that had obviously been intended as a cover. Obviously she knew what was going on, right?
Though perhaps she should take care of her new financial struggles before thinking about a nice date. Otille let out a sigh. Maybe she should go to the headmistress again?
