Sorry for asking so many questions. I'm just trying to get an idea of if this will be something I can / will want to get into. My life is pretty crazy so my schedule is unpredictable at best. If I do join I promise not to just drop. I'll write my character out if I can't stay in.

Makes sense. I'd likely want to play a soldier / military type but I'd also try to give them another skill set that would make them valuable. They wouldn't be a simple jar head with muscles and a gun. lol
