Neither of those cards have to do with monsters being face-up or the battle phase though.

?

Edited it several times for better examples soon after posting and now I don't know what you're referring to.

In any case, my point for Menhir was that Crush Card Virus doesn't need a face-up tribute, nor to be activated during the damage step to respond to an attack.
@Ryik
So I googled that card you used, and it said you can't activate Crush Card Virus during the damage step?
So how does that work, exactly?

I couldn't find what you were talking about, but I don't believe it matters.

Every time you attack with a monster during the battle phase, you first "declare the attack" before the damage step happens. It is during this time that your opponent can still activate cards like Negate Attack or Crush Card Virus in response.

To be activated during the damage step usually only makes a difference when you want the attack target to be flipped face-up, which can be important for, for example, Sealing Ceremony of Mokuton, flip effects like Man-Eater Bug or continuous effects like Jinzo.
When the boy shrugged his shoulders, Elly shook her head and began pressing buttons on the screen of her duel disk, as if not paying attention to the duel itself.

As Yosenju Kama 2 brought down its blade, Elly finally looked back up and put an open palm out in front of her like a stop sign, freezing Yosenju Kama 2 in mid-air.

"You're hopeless."

All at once, a horrid shadowy miasma erupts from Elly's face-down monster, blowing back Yosenju Kama 2 and throwing him into Yosenju Kama 3, who both writhe in pain.

"I thought you said you were through playing nice, yet here you are, halving your strongest monster's damage. You really have no integrity at all, do you?

I activate Crush Card Virus. By tributing Doll Part Pink, all your monsters with 1500 or more attack are destroyed." Yosenjuu Kama 2 and 3 explode, while the cards in the boy's hand flagrantly reveal themselves through giant holograms. "That means all of them." Any cards in the boy's hand that meet the requirements follow suit, joining the earlier Yosenju Kama in the grave. Crush Card Virus' secondary effect activates and the boy is prompted to send three monsters with 1500 attack or more from his deck to the grave.

After that, Vanity's Emptiness explodes, its own effect triggering from cards being sent to the grave. At least the headache didn't last long.

"Now, I think it's time I made good on my promise." Elly presses one last button on her duel disk and the characteristic ring of a telephone calls out. In the mean time, Elly's face twists into one of pain and sorrow, and for no given reason, she starts to cry silently, quivering with jarring realism.

The other end of the line picks up. "Hello, you've reached Saotome Duel Institute, how can I help you?"

Elly answers immediately, partially interrupting the end of her greeting with a desperate plea for help. "You've got to help me! I'm a new student here and I've been trapped in a pitfall on the edge of campus, behind the farthest classroom." Her voice cracks left and right, gradually lowering as she continues, as if hoping the boy wouldn't hear her. "The guy who dug it is down here with me, and he keeps saying scary things like that I don't know how to dress right, that 'I'm his bitch', or that he's through playing nice! Please, you've got to help me qui- AAAHHHHH~!" With a sharp scream at the end for good measure, she ends the call, smiling to herself and wiping her eyes victoriously.

"Make no mistake, I'm having tons of fun, but you know, it's really bad form to compare a lady to a dog. I suppose I can't blame you though. It's just in your nature to repel women with that insipid codependency bullshit you pawn off as a personality."

@Menhir
@KOGaming
@Ryik I wasn't sure, so I left it ambiguous, but I'm guessing that the facedown is that Alice one you talked about?

Not at all, actually.

By the way, you wouldn't happen to be aware that Elly's clothing is actually pretty normal, right? Besides her black lipstick and duel disk, she only embodies hot topic in spirit.
You can think of it like this: Each stat has a different cost now. You still have 8 and 160% to spend, though there's some leniency in the case of decimal spillover. (Which is why the sheet, which will round your growth rates, says you can have up to 161%)

I assume the same applies to 8, so going up to 8.5 could be okay, though Rethel might have something else to say about that.

The costs are as so:
Luck: .5
HP and Skill: .75
Strength, Magic and Speed: 1 (Same cost as before)
Defense and Resistance: 1.25

The ratios are based off of assets/boons and flaws/banes of avatar creation in the games.
@Menhir
Forgot to edit that, mb
@manapool1 Lysander (Ink) and Friedlich. (Elena)
Elly closed her eyes. Vanity’s fucking emptiness. No one ever ran that card. It's a real headache, but at least it’s not Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo. Fuck that card. She took a deep breath as she drew, subtle enough so that her opponent wouldn't be able to see. Maybe she could turn it around if she played her cards right...

Dead draw.

Amazing.

"You're a real piece of work, you know that?" Elly put a hand on her head to contain her oncoming headache. Speaking much softer now, "that should have cost you the game." Against anyone else it probably would have cost him the game, but boy oh boy is she fucked. So much for an impressive entrance, so much for being hailed in as a prodigy or a natural. What would father think?

Well, she know what she thinks, and what she thinks probably isn't what actually happened.

Elly sets a monster and another face-down before crossing her arms. "Listen up you blithering god-damned furry, I can't afford to lose to scum like you, so if you insult me by holding back like I'm some kind of pitiable child again, I will get this feculent shithole destroyed even if I have to bury it myself. Understand?" She doesn't wait for an answer. How rude of her. "It's your turn. Don't keep me waiting."

@Menhir
@Rethel34 I am the only one with a last name. Is that bad?

Ink and Elena actually have last names, but I figured that, as with normal fire emblem characters, they aren't normally important enough to bring up.

Ink is a nickname too.
Sorry to say I've been absurdly sick all week and unnecessarily busy besides.

I'll be trying to post something tomorrow. For now, I'm going to sleep before the sun fully rises.
