Okay, let's see; I started roleplaying by post way back when that meant writing a turn down by hand, sticking it in an envelope and sending it to a GM through the plain mail, not email. Games I remember with fondness are Saturnalia, Amaranth, Absolute Heroes....
I'm a wannabe writer and love inventing and developing characters and worldbuilding. Fantasy, horror (supernatural) and superhero are probably my favourite genres. I'm not adverse to a bit of cyberpunk or space opera, but hard sci-fi with lots of technobabble leaves me cold.
I can be found lurking on the Nano site or YouTube when I'm not spending time exclusively in the real world and have the same username everywhere, so if you see a Shaitarn on another site feel free to wave.
Hello, thanks for dropping by! I used to be active on here, but had to drop off for a few months. Now I'm looking to get back into a few games. So, rules and stuff:
I’m a casual roleplayer who usually writes between 2-4 paragraphs. I can write more if I get excited, but I don’t consider myself an advanced roleplayer, so don’t hope for page-long turns from me.
I can take either male or female roles (I think I have a 50/50 split between my characters) and am happy to double.
I’m reasonably literate but nobody’s perfect, so I’m not going to be a grammar nazi. So long as your post’s in legible English, we should be okay. Oh, and please only write in third person past tense – any other style drives me mad after a while!
I turned 18 years ago, and would prefer any potential partner to be too – no offence to anyone younger, but I don’t want to be having to constantly re-checking everything I post to be sure it’s suitable.
Swearing, violence and sex are a part of life, and while these aren’t PWP (well, most of them :)), I generally don’t fade to black unless you ask me to. While on that subject, I’m happy with any pairing, whether FxM, MxM or FxF. I won’t do bestiality or anything underage. Anything else – ask.
I’m happiest with fantasy or supernatural horror RPs – I have to live real life, so don’t want to play it.
Real life does come first – I’m not expecting several posts every day, but if you’re not going to be on for more than 48 hours, can you let me know please? I’ll extend the same courtesy to you.
All of these ideas are up for tweaking and I love world building with people, so feel free to toss ideas in! I should add that the genders given here are just for guidance and because it's easier than writing he/she all the time - they can be tweaked!
If you're interested, please send me a PM: if you reply to this I might well miss it.
I’ve probably forgotten something, but onto the plots:
A rich merchant’s daughter inherits control of her father’s trading empire when he dies. But after several ‘accidents’ she’s sure someone’s out to kill her and can’t get anyone to believe her. Even though she and her father were against the slave trade, she decides to buy a slave bodyguard as only their magically-enforced loyalty can be guaranteed. She promises that when they find the murderer and she’s safe she’ll give the slave their freedom and whatever else they desire (more ‘mature’ version of this could be that the slave-bodyguard wants her as a mate – possibly there’s some sort of ‘taboo’ against this, due to the slave’s race or gender).
A thief breaks into a wizard’s house to steal a specific item while they’re away. They’re caught in the act by the wizard’s apprentice, who casts a spell of binding to try to keep the thief imprisoned until their master gets back, but something goes wrong. The thief manages to escape, but both the apprentice and thief fall sick until they’re brought together again (either the thief returns or the apprentice and their master come and find the thief). It seems the spell has somehow bound the thief and apprentice together so they can’t be too far apart from each other without becoming seriously ill. The master can’t break the spell –he explains that if he cuts it the ‘ends’ of the spell would lash about and probably kill them both. The pair have to travel on their own to the wizards council (the master won’t come with them as it seems like a perfect journeyman quest to give their apprentice full master status) to have the spell broken, and no doubt have various adventures along the way.
A young woman with an artistic talent runs away from home, fleeing her abusive stepfather. She rents a room in a big old house (or breaks into an apparently deserted house) and gets a low paid job to make ends meet while working on her art (whether that be painting, music or whatever we’ll decide in game). She discovers the other tenant (and owner) of the house, a reclusive older man by accident (I’m totally up for him being some sort of supernatural guy – magician/necromancer, vampire, were – something of the sort). The two start a tentative friendship and gradually become closer. But the stepfather’s been looking for his runaway ‘child’…
A shy girl/bad boy meet – after the apocalypse.
More 'Mature' plots
“My people submit to your Empire. I shall be your… ‘warprize’ my people would say; your hostage.” She took a gulp of the wine he’d offered her when she entered his tent. “Your slave; whatever you wish.” Her voice shook slightly, but her gaze held his steadily.
As the leader of her people, it was her duty to surrender herself to the commander of the opposing forces as his slave (not exactly a hostage, more a symbol of good faith – her people regard her as a dead woman). She’d been a warrior, but now was his slave – bodyguard, whore, whatever he wanted. She hadn’t expected to find the idea appealing. (very strong ‘roman’ vibe on this. And definitely 18+!)
A young woman is raised on stories of the dragon/gryphon/giant eagle riders of the past; when her village is attacked by bandits and the other villagers sold into slavery, she escapes and goes searching for the mythical riders. She learns they no longer exist but is told of a secret valley where the last dragons/gryphons dwell. She explores the valley and only catches sight of the creatures flying far overhead. When she returns to her campsite that night she find a strange human(oid) man waiting for her. It turn out he is a dragon/gryphon shapeshifter. He agrees to act as her mount and help her save her people – if in return she’ll serve him in his bed.
The spell was meant to summon a fairly minor demon and just bind it to perform a tricky task or two. The arch-mage realised his mistake when a major demon roared into existence and pinched off his head. But then the dust settled, and the demon found itself bound to the mage’s apprentice – a young man/woman with a powerful natural talent, but little idea of how to use it. At first about to demand to be spent back to its own plane, the demon instead saw a chance here – the young mage was naïve, inexperienced – with such a human as their ‘master’, they could have freedom on the human world. All they have to do is break/seduce/mould the human to their desires…
A diplomatic mission between two kingdoms on the brink of war. A wizard/sorcerer on the mission discovers that the local lord’s daughter has strong natural magical talent, but no training. He offers to take her on as his apprentice, but she refuses – she doesn’t want to learn magic. Later, at the beginning of the war she is captured. The wizard discovers her as a prisoner and takes her as a slave to serve as his apprentice and lover. Whether she likes it or not.
When the kingdom was annexed as a vassal state to the Empire, a young assassin was dispatched to kill the former soldier that the Emperor had appointed as a governor. She tried to worm her way into his household, but his staff and guards were fanatically devoted to him. Finally, in desperation she disguised herself as a minor noblewoman to penetrate his inner circle – particularly as he was known to have a fondness for women of her type and might well be tempted to take her as a mistress. Too bad she didn’t anticipate falling in love with him.
Fandoms:
Only a couple.
Dragon Age Origins: How about if after the battle at Ostagar there were only two new Grey Wardens remaining – the promising recruits that Duncan had brought with him? We would both pick one of the six starting PC roles and play them, either trying to recruit an army as in the game or simply fleeing and trying to stay alive.
Doctor Who: Something with Ten and Donna (because I love their pairing – only Ten and Donna, so please don’t turn up with an idea for Eleven and Amy or Ten/Rose because I will have to decline).
Anything else? If you have any ideas that you'd like to try, please let me know - the worst that can happen is that I'll say no!
Name: Viktor Age: Over 1,500 years (born in 5th Century). Gender: Male
Bio: Viktor was a Hungarian warlord sometime in the 5th century; when he was nearing death he was turned by a powerful vampire and became one of the most powerful vampire elders. Fighting a running battle with the lycans, he spared the life of the first shapeshifting lycan (werewolf), Lucian, and brought him up as a slave in his own castle. He regretted that when his daughter became pregnant with Lucian’s child and was executed by order of the vampire council. His private grief at her death and the revolt of the lycan slaves led to him starting a war of genocide against the lycans.
Feats of strength: Very strong; he’s strong enough (and quick enough) to pick up a charging lycan with one hand, break its neck and throw it at the wall hard enough to break it (the wall, not the lycan) and pick up normal humans and throw them clean through a wall.
Feats of agility: He’s fast and capable of great feats of agility. He can jump down from heights of several hundred feet and land with ease.
Feats of toughness: Can take a great deal of damage before going down: bullets and most weapons don’t bother him (once took a sword through the mouth out of the back of the head and walked away). He also had very swift healing abilities.
Feats of intelligence: He’s capable of sorting through a flow of memories when he bites a victim and making sense of them. He was a warlord so presumably is a decent strategist, but nothing else of note.
Feats of willpower: Pretty stubborn and strong willed, but nothing exceptional.
Feats of luck: His luck totally sucks.
Feats of perception: Has excellent nightvision (as you’d expect) but nothing else.
Equipment: His sword and two knives on arm sheaths under his sleeves. Both are forged of steel coated with silver so can hurt non-human foes like lycans. He wears a long leather coat that probably counts as light armour.
“No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater that man’s…intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.”
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a RP based on the great H.G Well's novel – forget the films, this would be set at the beginning of the 20th century in the UK with Victorian/Edwardian technology. I thought maybe we could play the invasion of London and the aftermath. I have three ideas:
1/ Playing it straight and pretty accurately historically-speaking, using the book as the only source material.
2/ Adding a slight steampunk element, with a few weird inventions, possibly mad scientist types giving soldiers bizarre weapons and stuff to fight the Martians.
3/ Steampunk and general madness, with some supernatural elements added in as well. Maybe there’ll be some people with ESP abilities, or magic-using types or cultists trying to raise Cthulhu, or whatever.
If interested, please let me know which option appeals to you the most.
Hello, I'd be interested in either the Travelling Mercenaries or fantasy version of Inseparable if you're still looking for a partner for either of these.
My favourite colour is blue, specifically royal blue.
@BurningCold Now hang on a minute - I'm not trying to spike your guns, but I'm not sure I want anyone running the pub as I'd like it to be a completely neutral space run by NPCs. if you're really desperate to do this, can you PM me about it discussing your ideas please?
Probably a bit irrelevant now, but here's my earlier thoughts about Gideon's last character sheet: I'd like some sort of limit placed on his shapechanging powers (either a time limit or a size limit, because unless I'm missing something he could conceivably become King Kong or Godzilla or Boris Johnson at the moment - he may have no desire to, but he could). Maybe the bigger the creature is the less time he can hold the shape? I'm a little reluctant to allow his fire power as it is as well, but let it stand - anyone who spends a lot of time with him probably knows enough to keep a bucket of either water or sand nearby.
Also, bear in mind that the supernatural community is interested in keeping its existence a secret - if Gideon goes on a killing spree or does anything else to bring the humans attention down on them, he will probably have several very powerful non-humans turning up to have 'a quiet word' with him.
I'm not trying to spoil anyone's fun, just pointing out what might happen!
